/r/DarkSouls2 - Modding Monday. Posted: 20 Oct 2019 11:13 PM PDT Welcome to the weekly Dark Souls mod announcement and discussion thread! Beware! Use of mods whilst connected to the internet can cause you to get banned from online play! For more information, or to continue the discussion visit /r/ModSouls Using mods (PC only!) to enhance or add new content to the Souls games is great fun! It is important, however, to understand that mods are against From's EULA/ToS, so there is a great risk of being banned when using them due to From's anti-cheat--which is deployed in most versions of the Souls games. Versions of the games where modding is safe due to no anti-cheat: Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition Versions of the games where modding carries a very high risk of being banned: Dark Souls: Remastered Dark Souls II Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin Dark Souls III Our recommendations for safe modding *This advice is intended for first-time or relatively inexperienced modders who want to get into modding without risking a ban on their main Steam account. Basic Steps: Make a separate Steam account Use Steam's Family Sharing feature to provide your new account with access to your main Steam account's game library. Install games to be used with the new account in a separate directory. Once you've found your mods be sure to read (and follow) the mod author's instructions carefully prior to installation. Set Steam to "off line" mode. Install the mods and perform any necessary setup. Enjoy the fun and interesting experiences offered by mods! Be sure to remove all file components of the mod before going back online!Helpful Information for New Users Be sure to check the /r/DarkSouls2/wiki page, where you can find community-created tips and research threads. Please help build the wiki! You only need 10 karma within /r/DarkSouls2 to contribute. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 21 Oct 2019 12:50 AM PDT I just started a deprived run with no real plans the other day and have been having a nice time. That is, until I defeated the first dragonrider. For afterwards I decided to punch Licia off the ledge for the souls. After I reloaded to get the key thingy for Huntsman's Copse the item didn't spawn. After several more tries it still wasn't spawning. Confused, I looked around the immediate area to see if it was on the stairs or below or something. Then in the murky depths of the ocean below I spotted something, the faint glow of an item. It had spawned in the water. Since I am not wasting my time farming 1,000,000 souls to enter the shrine of winter, I have to delete this poor guy and make a new one. Press F to pay respects. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 21 Oct 2019 10:03 AM PDT I started playing ds3 and loved it, moved on to ds1 and loved it, then switched to ds2 and now it feels like I am playing a totally different game. I have never had to google anything in the previous games but here it feels like I have to have google ready just to make progress. I have had to look up where I am supposed to go thrice just because I can't seem to find the right path, I have had to google how to deal with the statues that block my way and I have had to look up where the bird lady goes because I had no idea that "just down the way" was in a sandy hell pit halfway across the map. But what finally made me type out this rant was when I acquired the symbol of the king and opened the kings door. I was very exited because I remembered where I was supposed to go and managed to put two and two together. I wondered what would hide behind this late game door and then I was faced with the same dead giant that I have encountered several times previously... and alas nothing happened... I understand that there is some sort of item out there that I have missed that awaken these giants or something but I am really tired of having to google stuff just to make progress. There are stuff that I really like about the game but this first playthrough has been really rough. It feels like every area I have gone to has some sort of locked door or a hidden mechanic that I am supposed to remember and return to hours later in the game. I don't want the game to hold my hand and I want to find out things on my own but I feel like this is just to much. Now I feel bad and I just want to finish the damned thing. [link] [comments] |
What are your top 3 Favorite Bosses in DS2? Posted: 21 Oct 2019 12:38 PM PDT For me:
In my opinion, DS2 did best with DLC but main game bosses are great as well. I see you, Covetous ;) [link] [comments] |
Posted: 21 Oct 2019 05:30 PM PDT Dark Souls 2: Bosses Why are not generic. In this text, I will cover all the criticizing points about the bosses of Dark Souls 2 and I will talk about all the bosses in a nutshell.First criticism: lack of creativity.Much of the criticism used by players is that DS2 only has "humanoid bosses, knights" which is intriguing. The theme of the game is to reach a castle that obviously must have knights and enemies of this genre, after all, Dark Souls 2 is not Dark Souls 1, it addresses a TOTALLY different theme, but for some reason this is a problem for players, let's check then. Knights: 14 (Pursuer, Glass Knight, Ruin Sentinels, Flexile Sentry, Lost Sinner, Old Dragonslayer, Velstadt, Vendrick, Dragonrider, Throne Watcher & Defender, Gank Squad, Smoke Knight, Sir Alonne, Ivory King) Humanoids: 4 (Last Giant, Najka, Mytha, Elana)Well, in the game we have 39 bosses (Giant Lord and Twin Dragonriders are not counted), we have 54% of knight and humanoid bosses, a little more than half, interestingly, let's look at Dark Souls 3 now. Humanoid definition used in the text: Humanoid is any being that looks similar or even resembles a human but is not. Dark Souls 3 Knights: 9 (Ludex Gundyr, Abyss Watchers, Pontiff, Dragonslayer Armor, Lorian, Nameless King, Soul of Cinder, Halflight, Gael) Humanoides: 4 (Aldrich, Deacons of the Deep, Yhorm the Giant, Friede and Ariandel) Number of bosses: 25, percentage of humanoids and knights: 52%. (Dancer, Champion Gundyr were not told, I was undecided about Dancer, but she should fit in with the knights) Question: Do players who like Dark Souls 3 and complain about the bosses of Dark Souls 2 have done this simple arithmetic account? I mean, even if I placed one or at most two bosses inappropriately the percentage would still be very close to 50%, what is the point of complaining that in Dark Souls 2 there are many humanoid and knight chiefs? Maybe your problem is not that they are knights, maybe you didn't like the looks or maybe the difficulty, but the gender of the boss? It seems to me at least hypocrisy. Second criticism: lack of movement, very easy. Let's look at the bosses: Last Giant: Initial boss should not be difficult, it would also be strange for a giant with serious health problems to be very strong. (7 moves) About DLC's bosses, all are well done, arena, moves and representation, except for GANK SQUAD and Lud and Zallen (Sunken King final boss and Ivory King dlc) Some conclusions: Most bosses have a good arena representation and ways to help the player and highlight something that Dark Souls 2 essentially preaches: PATH DIVERSITY.You can start pretty much which way you want, the game allows you that very clearly, the replay factor is fantastic and it makes the game more fun. Question: Is it fair to compare the boss difficulty of a game 2 years ago (2016 vs 2014) and with a different focus (replay vs difficulty)? Ask yourself this question. The bosses that I didn't mention in this text was because I consider it unnecessary or bad (Royal Rat), also for the text not to get bigger than it already is. [link] [comments] |
To Patroller on the Iron Keep bridge... Posted: 21 Oct 2019 04:50 PM PDT I'm absolutely impressed by your persistence. It's honestly inspiring. Not sure if you noticed the gift I dropped for you, but I hope so. Don't give up. <3 [link] [comments] |
Posted: 21 Oct 2019 03:49 PM PDT So I've started wearing the Moon Butterfly set for a Cosplay and noticed that I now could jump without running, however my jumps seem to have changed. I can't quite figure out in what way. What did the wearing of the Moon Butterfly set change with my jumpes? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 21 Oct 2019 04:54 AM PDT Just started out a quality RoB Flynn build and I'm sunbroing to get the sun sword and the dual Caestus just crushes Sinner's Rise and No Man's Wharf with RoB+0 and Stone Ring. I really wish I'd discovered the power of the Caestus and made a build based around it earlier... Also, would people recommend the Stone or regular Twinblade for 40/40 dex & strength? Posted: 21 Oct 2019 08:46 AM PDT Today i was going around a few areas and i went back to Things Betwixt and while i was looking around i saw a weird "road" going around the first area (before the house) you can see it in the distance if you go at any ledge before the house. Any idea of what it is? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 21 Oct 2019 09:49 AM PDT To break the ice, I will start: - I play on low resolution, because the simpler graphics make the game feel more nostalgic. - I like Maughlin, especially when he becomes smug if you spend 15000 souls in his shop. - I like the rat bosses but I can't stand Sir Alonne. Posted: 21 Oct 2019 09:42 AM PDT I really want a good fast sword in ds2. I can't seem to find a good straight sword I really want a sword like Lothric straight sword from ds3. I don't plan to play much PvP. Please help me. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 21 Oct 2019 02:30 AM PDT https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bYQrxnXD9zo When I completed Dark Souls 2 and noticed the credits cannot be skipped I did like propably many others and took the phone on my hand, but as the credits scrolled and the song continued to play I realised its a very beautiful song. Reminds me partly of some religious songs which are not the usual type of music I listen so I am asking what this type of songs you know and can you link them here? I like music like that on backround instead of just instruments playing so please link me some if here is someone with similar taste. [link] [comments] |
What weapon should my friend use? Posted: 21 Oct 2019 02:10 PM PDT My friend has just bought ds2 and I'm trying to think if there's any weapons with similar move sets to the farron greatsword in 3 as that was one of the few weapons he liked. I really want him to like 2 as whilst he enjoyed ds3, he hasn't loved the series as much as me and my other friend do. He hated Bloodborne and he hasn't played ds1 but it's a bit dated, so this game may be my last chance to get him to live the series. [link] [comments] |
Is the Warped Sword still good? Help with build Posted: 21 Oct 2019 10:15 AM PDT I dont know if it has been nerfed but I really wanna get my dex up and use it along my +10 Greatsword and +10 Lightning Red Iron Twinblade. My stats are basically str right now but these are my stats: 47 vig, 36 end, 51 str, 20 dex, 40 adp. Let me know if there are other good weapons for my stats. I can basically get all Boss Weapons atm. Would love to hear what you guys think :) [link] [comments] |
Having trouble connecting to DS2 server Posted: 21 Oct 2019 01:19 PM PDT Anybody else (on Xbox one) having this issue? Noticed it last night, waited till the morning to see if it was fixed but I still can't connect. I am aware that I can play offline, but online souls is just so much better to me. Broken ahead, therefore but hole. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 21 Oct 2019 11:07 AM PDT Just finished DS3, 75% through DS1 remastered, and decided to play DS2 again. I had played through before, but lost my saves. I am trying a dex/rapier build, and I'm at 31 dex atm. I'm struggling, as the rapier doesn't seem to do much damage. Was it nerfed? I literally just started, only 3 bosses in or so. Should I use the black knight halberd Posted: 21 Oct 2019 07:00 AM PDT I am at the shaded woods I don't know what I should use help. I found this and remember it from ds1 where it was very good. I want to use it but I am not sure if it's damage is good for later areas since I want a strong fast weapon. Help. [link] [comments] |
Stressed Strength player Suffering with Sorcery Posted: 20 Oct 2019 06:24 PM PDT Hello all! As the title suggests, I am a player who mostly plays with strength characters, using strength weapons. Lately, I've been dying to try more of the game i.e. new builds and new weapons, armor, etc. However, I'm finding the early sorcery grind very upsetting. I'm very unfamiliar with spells in every souls game, and being weak with low DPS in the early game is very disheartening to me. Frankly, I don't know what items, spells, and weapons to go for. Currently using the EZ mode fire longsword and my only spell is great soul arrow. I'm mostly just thinking of starting over completely. Anyways, if you guys could give me some good sorcery tips, especially helpful info about the early-game so I can get further, I'd be very appreciative :) p.s. I've finished the game before, but only with a strength build. I'm mostly worried about how to build my character without staring at spread sheets and living on the wiki [link] [comments] |
Posted: 21 Oct 2019 09:16 AM PDT Me and my friend are going through all the souls games/DLCs in order but we can't play DS2 due to some server issue [link] [comments] |
