Finally killed Artorias at Level 1, no shield & using +10 R.Club

    Posted: 21 Oct 2019 06:31 AM PDT

Definitely not the hardest thing ever done in Dark Souls, but I honestly thought I couldn't complete this with the +10 club. I thought for sure I'd have to come back with the Blacksmith Giant Hammer or maybe even a +15 Club. Turns out I didn't have to. Here's a link if anyone cares.

Y'all ever just leave your character in an area then go and chill or do something else with the area's sound in the background?

The area's ambience in this game is awesome. My character is is the darkroot basin rn with the sound of crickets and wind. It's so relaxing

Do you think there's any chance of ever convincing FROM and/or Bandai to add crossplay to all the games?

    Posted: 22 Oct 2019 05:33 AM PDT

Even if it's just the current-gen stuff, so stuff like PtDE and PS3 are still separate. It's no secret that no matter which game you play on which platform that they're past the glory days in terms of multiplayer. I would take a more intrusive anticheat for being able to get more players in niche areas like the belltowers in 2, or some more blueberry activity. Would also make for a good chance to patch the new exploits for 3.

Should I kill knight lautrec of carim?

    Posted: 22 Oct 2019 04:24 AM PDT

I know after ringing the 2nd bell he will kidnap the firekeeper and we have to kill him in order to bring her back. But if I kill him now (just rang the first bell) he will drop the ring of favor and protection. If I do that will firekeeper will stay like that? I mean forever mute because if I don't kill him now, after he kill her and we can kill him and get her soul and restore her voice. So can I restore her voice if I kill the knight before ringing the 2nd bell?

How do I make Dark Souls not a chore?

    Posted: 22 Oct 2019 01:35 AM PDT

So I have busted my ass on this countless times like many of you, but it's becoming quite redundant. Like a chore. I love the lore, all of the stats and how much it changes the gameplay, each and every enemy has so much exploration behind the sword and how fucking AMAZING each and every area could be it's own novel. I love everything no doubt. But the "die-repeat" kind of thing just irks me. I worked with it for like the first 76 hours on DS2 (got me past Warf lmfaOOOOO) but I just feel like I CAN beat the next boss but do I WANT to? I returned and made it to The Iron Keep. But like, DS1 is by far the most interesting and gripping but I can't beat Gargoyles. And I get stoked whenever I hop on and get the courage to start a new build and think to myself "oh boy this is the time!!!" But nooooo way Jose. Maybe I need a companion? But that seems quite belittling, I love a good competition but I'm for sure becoming hollow. I need some support boys and girls :(

So I started playing DS1 on the 360 2 weeks back and I havent seen any phantom signs or gotten invaded in the most chaotic places to pvp(Darkroot Garden,Oolacile Township, etc.) Ive been wondering if the game has died down to such a point where legitemently noone is playing it. Ive tried on 8 diffrent characters from lowest lvl 56 to highest lvl 137 and I havent seen any phantom signs or gotten invaded

    Finally Platinumed DS1

    Posted: 21 Oct 2019 05:55 PM PDT

After years of playing Soulsborne games, getting all of the trophies for DS2, 3, and Bloodborne, I finally went back to the OG Dark Souls to take a stab at getting all those trophies.

Even though I've played through the game multiple times, whenever focusing on getting all the trophies, I have always balked at the Knight's Honor trophy. Earlier in the year, I decided to play through Remastered and in my first playthrough, I made it my goal to get all the dragon tail weapons, something I've never done. I did it, but walked away when I was done with NG.

Months later, I was bored with everything I was playing and decided to come back to DS to try for all the trophies. It wasn't too bad. I got stuck on Four Kings for a little bit, but was able to take down Super Ornstein for the first time ever, and without a summon!

This weekend, I got to the giant blacksmith in Anor Londo in NG++ and made those last boss weapons.

    Proof

Now I just have to hope there really is a Bloodborne 2 coming down the pike sometime in the near future.

What are your guys' favorite boss from each of the games?

    I'd say mine would be:

    • Dark Souls: Ornstein and Smough
    • Dark Souls 2: Fume Knight
    • Dark Souls 3: Slave Knight Gael
    • Bloodborne: Ludwig
    • Sekiro: Genichiro

The fact that gwynevere is an illusion makes me really sad

    Posted: 21 Oct 2019 12:00 PM PDT

For a long time, I watched people mention gwynevere in their Ds2 and 3 playthrough, it made me really want to buy dark souls remastered so I did but now, figuring out she was never even there makes me really sad

Reah of Thorolund - DSR; Switch.

    Posted: 21 Oct 2019 09:37 PM PDT

The Weirdest thing has happened to me. I was attacked by Reah when I went to Firelink Shrine.

Prior to this event she has been praying at Firelink Shrine with Petrus dead and I have bought all miracles save for one. I have avoided buying Great Heal Excerpt so that she doesn't get relocated to the Duke's Archives. This means that for 70 hours on this character she has been praying at the Undead Parish alive and with a purpose, she will never go hollow.

Current Game Before Event: - All sins absolved - Anor Londo is not dark - Part of Darkmoon Blades - All bosses except for Gwyn and Gwyndolin dead including DLC. - Reah in parish for 70 of the 100 hours on this character.

Gameplay in the Hour Before Event: - Dueled with a friend who was part of the Way of White Covenant via Red Summon Sign. - Helped said friend get through New Londo. (Had him invade me so that I can show him the path to take in order to lower the waters). - Relocated Ingward to Firelink Shrine. Visited Firelink twice and no sign of Reah. - Helped friend kill Four Kings. - Bone Out to Firelink. - Reah is there and attacks me. - Goes up Parish elevator without hitting Reah. - Reah is now praying at Parish?? Go back down to Firelink via elevator and she attacks me again??? Rinse and repeat. - Attempt to talk to Reah in both areas but prompt does not come up. - Save and quit, and reload. Reah still does not talk. - Pay souls to get forgiven by Oswald. - Reah back to normal.

I'm just wondering if Ingward moving to Firelink counts as a sin to the Way of the White, and how there can be two copies of Reah. And if so, that would make for some very interesting lore.

    PSA: Proper phantom summoning etiquette

    Posted: 21 Oct 2019 04:45 AM PDT

First, let me preface this by saying that I'm surprised at how active online summoning still is. Me and my friends get summoned pretty consistently, especially for the tougher early game bosses. This is on the PC version of Dark Souls Remastered, for those wondering.

Which has led me to wanting to create this post. I've noticed a few bothersome behaviors from players summoning phantoms and just wanted to give some input and help.

Provided that I can remember how to format on reddit, here's a numerated list of things to consider when summoning phantoms for assistance. While we do enjoy a good bout of jolly cooperation, we are still volunteering our time. Think it even says something like that on the wiki for coop play.

1.) Please wait for your summoned phantoms to spawn in before bolting off. It can take longer than expected for the phantom to arrive when activating a summon sign. I cannot tell you how many times I've been summoned only to find out that the host has already entered the boss fog before I've even left the first room in Anor Londo. I cant prevent you from being squashed by the giants in Anor Londo if I haven't even arrived yet. I get that Dark Souls can be frustrating, and you might have already died several times and that's why you're summoning help but this isn't a speed run, please slow down.

2.) Going along with point one, especially if you're re-summoning after a failed attempt. I feel like this is going to be a trend with this, but please wait for the phantom to acknowledge you. I like to bow, or spam L2 to let you know that I am not afk, and indeed ready to help. I will also drop humanity or other goodies, so that should we fail again you can always re-summon us without dipping into your own humanity reserves. I have tons of soft humanity anyways and don't really need it.

3.) Gestures are there for a reason. Is there an invader? Do you want to do some exploration before fighting the boss? Lost and confused, in need of guidance? You can communicate a lot with a simple shrug or point, even raising your shield in the direction of a particular area can communicate lots. I can't speak for all sunbros or summons but I definitely don't mind walking players through an area. It's always fun to show them a secret or two, point out a mimic before it snatches them up, or help with a difficult mini boss.

4.) Let your summon prepare before lunging through that sweet viscous mist. Most of us come prepared, and buffs run out. It's not uncommon for a prepared phantom to lightning buff before Quelaag, or slap some sweet pine resign on our weapon before Ornstein and Smough. Many of the boss encounters offer little time for these actions once the fight has began, and stopping to do so usually results in either our death or yours. This is especially prevalent in Blight Town, as stopping to consume moss before the fight is almost a necessity.

5.) Don't be afraid to de-summon us. That little crystal exists for a reason. If you need to sit at a fire, or get through a fog-wall you didn't know was there feel free to banish us. I always place my sign right back down as soon as I can, and re-summoning is free provided that you are still human. It's a good rule of thumb to indicate why though. Just point at the fog-wall/fire or give as good an indication as you can as to why you are banishing your summoned help.

I might come back to edit this if I end up thinking of anything else. Just keep in mind that one thing before all else, every death will cost you one humanity. This hurts you more than us, which is sad because we really enjoy helping out, and if you run out it's no more summoning or back to the depths/dlc to farm. If you've gone through the trouble to summon a phantom, let them help. That doesn't mean stand there while we cruse through the fight/area for you, feel free to have have fun too, but dying for us is risk free. If we end up getting wombo comboed by a Skeleton Doggo, at least it wasn't you, and hopefully it's a risk free trip back should you choose to re-summon us.

Anyways, happy summoning out there fellow undead. It's been a right blast adventuring with most of you fine folk.

    Archives Trouble?

    Posted: 21 Oct 2019 07:12 PM PDT

I'm at the first bonfire and this place is just the worst. The crystal fuckers deal more damage than a lot of the bosses and they're way faster. To add to that, there's an army of them. And the worst insult to injury is that this place is the general consensus of easiest lord soul location. I'm using gold hemmed set for light weight with bk halberd, along with Havel ring and dark wood grain ring for flippy-flips. Am I missing something?

Update: I beat Seath with better, heavier equipment. I kept the gold hemmed skirt but I put on Havel chest and helm and put on golem gauntlets. I can tank much more hits and my poise is massive now. But I do miss those flippy-flips):

is this game not considered the best by most in this sub?

    Posted: 21 Oct 2019 06:05 PM PDT

just by looking at the many posts with the "best soulsborne game" or "best game ever". whenever someone calls this game the best game or the best soulsborne game it seems to be downvoted and at the very bottom. bloodborne meanwhile gets more upvotes and is at the top in these kinds of posts. do most people in this sub not consider og dark souls (From Softs legendary game) the best?

Never played a Dark Souls game, is the remaster on switch a good place to start?

    Posted: 21 Oct 2019 08:49 AM PDT

This question isn't if I should play Dark Souls because I already know for a fact I should. I want to know whether getting the remaster on switch is the best idea. Or if I should get the original game on PS4. I heard from a friend of mine that the remaster is unbalanced and broken and I want to get the best DS experience without wasting money. To me, playing it on the go on the switch is worth the extra price, but not if its an inferior game.

    Thank you :)
