The statuettes found in the Pit of Majula probably represent the Emerald Herald.

    Posted: 19 Oct 2019 04:06 AM PDT

Think about it. As people go hollow, they lose their memories and eventually act on a vague idea of their past.

The hollow soldiers in the Forest or Fallen Giants and the Lost Bastille for example still have this vague idea that they're defending the territory from invaders under the king's command.

And then we know that the pit acts as a dumpster for the inhabitants of Majula. All the items and hollows we see there were most likely sent to the same journey as you by the Emerald Herald. They died so much however that they went hollow and were cast into the pit.

In fact, once you fall through the roof of the structure right next to the first bonfire you see hollows sitting around in a room with rags, pots and other stuff you would find in a house. Almost as if they're trying to live a human life. And judging by all the ladders and structures and whatnot, I'd wager they're even trying to build their way up to the surface again.

And back to the statues, they do actually resemble the Emerald Herald, don't they? They are seen all over the Gutter and the Black Gulch. The Rotten is seen making one as you enter the arena and you can hear him crying outside the fog gate, which is likely all the corpses that make up the boss.

So my personal theory is that these hollows are still trying to find the King, whether willingly or not. They're trying to build their way up to the surface and seek the Emerald Herald for guidance.

And finally, the Rotten drops the Old Dead One's Soul in NG+. This is Nito's soul from DS1. So I believe that Rotten might also have some personal beef (or a crush) with her that has its roots back in DS1?

I both love and hate the iron keep

    Posted: 18 Oct 2019 04:24 PM PDT

So the first part of iron keep in my opinion is one of the best areas in the game. The enemies aren't easy, it's not some long drawn out affair and you get the smelter demon and the pursuer for a boss.

However the second part, umm fuck that shit. I absolutely hate it. It's cool to look at, but that is about it. I truly hate going through it, and I wish I had never seen it.

That's all, just a semi rant. Praise the sun.

i was trying to beat the pursuer and everything was fine , i got him to the last bit of health. i was about to beat the cunt but my retarded ass laptop decided it's lag time, so the game went into 2.5 fps and the fucker beat me to death.

    I did it!

    Posted: 19 Oct 2019 08:15 AM PDT

Sir Alonne is down. I even managed to beat him without taking damage and got the seppuku animation. I prioritized dodging over attacking and never attacked more than once. For my low SM run, the only bosses remaining are darklurker and ivory king. technically i have not killed ancient dragon but i am not sure i am going to do that

Bug before the Looking Glass Knight Fight

    Posted: 19 Oct 2019 02:19 AM PDT

So I was playing Dark Souls II Scholar of the First Sin Edition on the PS4 and I found this interesting bug(?).

Basically, if you take those horse armor knight guys with you back to the bonfire, they just disappear.

    Here's the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HgTwXkKiewQ&feature=youtu.be

If you jump to the 1:04 part you can see it happening.

    On a quest

    Posted: 19 Oct 2019 05:42 AM PDT

I am on a quest to kill Fume knight till he is NG+7. I am currently not in the champions covenant because I suck and this is my 1st playthrough. So far i've discovered his 2nd phase is easier than his 1st. You just have to survive the onslaught and if you have a decently fast weapon you can punish often. I like this boss (one of the only bosses I like so far and i'm at Aldia's keep with every dlc completed minus Alonne obviously)

What's the deal with crit dmg and ng cycles?

    Posted: 18 Oct 2019 07:03 PM PDT

I watched some older ds2 vids (although all DLCs had already been released), and people were talking about the crazy ng+ crits, and I'm confused. Is that really a thing in ds2? What about Scholar?

Or is it that it used to be a thing and got patched out later/in Scholar?

Based on what I heard, crit dmg is (or at least used to be) affected by the host's ng cycle, where in ng, crits do 100% of their usual dmg, 150% in ng+, 200% in ng++, and from ng+++ onwards, once again only 100%.

That still true? I didn't see any mention of any of this on a wiki page about ds2 crit dmg and so far nobody has 1-shot me with a crit, hence the confusion.

I made a poll about what people like most in Dark Souls, could you please help with your votes below?

    Posted: 19 Oct 2019 07:33 AM PDT

Here it is, I made a poll in order to find out what people like the most in Dark Souls, but because the amount of votes are too little to get accurate results I was hoping if you could help by voting here. Thanks for your help :)

I just started playing, and everything is way too hard! What should I do?

    Posted: 19 Oct 2019 02:27 AM PDT

I've had this game sitting in my steam library for a while, and I thought I should try it out, but after 10 hours of barely any progression and surely over 150 deaths I seriously don't know what I'm even supposed to do anymore. Enemy placement in even the first areas of the game feels completely unfair and absolutely unbeatable.

The two areas I have to go to are either the forest of fallen giants, or Heide's Tower of Flame. In the forest, I've already beaten the last giant, and he only took two attempts but now that I'm trying to get further and go through the soldier's key door, I just can't get anything done. The skeletons on the way in aren't very difficult and I've killed them to the point where they don't even respawn, but after that I just can't figure out what to do. The rooftop with 3 gigantic mace wielding enemies is basically unbeatable for me, as they always miss the explosive barrels and trying to fight them all at once gives me no way to get a safe hit in. When I finally can get past, I end up getting absolutely obliterated by the dark spirit Armourer Dennis, each one of his swarms of slashes and spells doing 60% or more of my health bar. After an hour or so of this, I decided to try going to Heide's tower, and I actually managed to run past all of the old guards, obtain a ring of binding and make the dragonrider accidentally jump to his death, but now whenever I try and return the previously passive knights there completely destroy me. All of their hits are so fast I can't try to dodge or parry/riposte, and I get killed so quickly there's barely even time to use an estus flask.

What am I really supposed to do? This is my first Dark Souls (or similar) game, and I know it's supposed to be extremely difficult, but having such an impossibley hard time in what should be the first couple hours of the game just seems too much. I'm level 39, and playing warrior with the Bastard Sword +2, and the buckler shield for parrying. I've got level 20 in adaptability for more iframes but it just doesn't seem to help ,and I'd really appreciate it if somebody could give me some explanation of what's gone so wrong.

    Posted: 18 Oct 2019 08:22 AM PDT

i wanted to try souls games so i got dark souls 1 but i couldn't find a non remastered version and my computer is too low end ot handle it, so i got dark souls 2 and have been playing for a while.

the game is amazing, other than some minor complaints the game is very good so far, why do people hate on DS2 specifically

    Build idea. Sekiro.

    Posted: 18 Oct 2019 01:32 PM PDT

Main wep katana of your choice (except chaos blade).

Offhand. Chaos blade (like mortal blade from sekiro), chime (for tears of denial), bone Fist (closest to prosthetic tool. Also parry tool)

Spells. Tears of Denial (like entire Game ressurection thing)

Armor and stats are not yet determined.

Can I platinum on ng+ if i screwed up ng?

    Posted: 18 Oct 2019 11:49 AM PDT

First time playing the game. A few screw ups took place.

I read a message saying stabbing in the back after meeting Pate on day 1 of playing. Thought that meant he was gonna try to kill me.

Killed merchant hag melentia... not sure why I did this. I kinda just wanted to see what happened. But now she won't move to Majula as a ghost.

Agadyne. I went and talked to him and got the warmth pyromancy, but you know how they say curiousity killed the cat? I just HAD to see what happens when you bring a torch in there, without googling it of course.

Bone Staff, can it be used as a melee weapon?

    Posted: 19 Oct 2019 03:14 AM PDT

The strong attack looks like the regular attack of the Great Scythe.

Is it viable as a melee weapon?

The casting scaling doesn't look good, that's why I am asking.

What's the best katana to acompany my grand lance for pvp and pve? (Specially pvp)

    Posted: 19 Oct 2019 01:54 AM PDT

Something that is either fast or that can stun my oponents one-handed. Also, it's the stone ring worth it if i'm mostly going to use the katana in just one hand?

I hate the Old Iron King

    Posted: 18 Oct 2019 01:00 PM PDT

I usually end up getting him to one hit but then falling into lava. Not once has The Iron King killed me fairly. He stays in the lava so the only chance you have to hit him is when you bait an attack. The look of the boss is really cool, but I hate the fight. I think if they made the battleground bigger the fight would be a lot better.

I didn't know how a bad controller could make things more interesting

    Posted: 17 Oct 2019 09:18 PM PDT

I have played dark souls 1/2 and you normally hold your weapon/wand on your right hand right? Well I began dark souls 2 playing a strength build cuz I liked big weapons and it made it fun for me, i managed to complete the game and after a month I thought, "huh I haven't tried playing with magic" and so I started playing a new game as a mage and it was really fun that is until my R1 button on my Xbox broke, this really fucked my gameplay, for those that haven't tried playing as a mage the R1 is the button that fires the spell while the R2 doesn't do that, it just makes a physical attack with the wand, i was angry but then I actually passed my wand from my right hand to my left hand to fire spells and as i always had a shield in my left hand I couldn't use it anymore cuz you use the L1,R1 to defend, I went back and changed my stats and made a weird hybrid between mag/str I had a great sword on the right hand and I could only use the strong attack while on the left hand I enchanted the sword and fired some spells and sometimes I grabbed the weapons with two hands and went ham on every shit i could get my sights on, of course not defending hurted my gameplay a lot and I had to dodge every attack as I was a mage and I was fragile but fuck If I didn't enjoy it a lot

Trying to build a coop str/fth tank build. Help?

    Posted: 18 Oct 2019 03:08 PM PDT

I want to make a build that protects my host(who has about 10 hours) and having the main role of healing and being a steel wall. Thinking lightning lucerne late game and lightning claymore until I can get the lucerne. Problem is I don't know if I should play mainly as a str/vit build until I get a lightning gem and then respec and don't know what a good great shield or spells would be to fulfill this role. I'm thinking heavy into melee build stats(vig, end, vit) but only doing base str/dex and a lot of fth for my weapon after the respec.

    Here or there?

    Posted: 18 Oct 2019 03:39 PM PDT

This question pertains to any FromSoft game, except Bloodbourne since I know that's too much.

My girlfriend wants to get into the SekiSoulsBourne games but she can't handle lots of gore or scary stuff. I know games like The Surge and Let It Die are Soulslike so perhaps I should get her to start there. I haven't beaten DS2 yet so I'd say that she could do this one too. If anyone has any thoughts on where she should start, or where I should really post this, I'd appreciate it!
