I beat dark souls 100% running on a treadmill

    Posted: 19 Oct 2019 12:07 AM PDT

Using switch split joycons I did a challenge to beat the game running entirely with only rests allowed at bonfires. Now I'm on to dark souls 3!

It was a proud accomplishment and I'm sure a workd first :)

I did it. I did it. I did it.

    Posted: 18 Oct 2019 10:17 PM PDT

I conquered the legends, Ornstein and Smough for the very first time! It only took me about 3 or 4 tries with Solaire, but it's not the amount of times I died as much as it was the length of those few times. They dragged on only to end in YOU DIED. I would have "Mega" Ornstein down to just a few more hits and he'd clip me or hit me with lightning, but I did y'all! Woohoo! I know it probably doesn't count to some of you because I had Solaire with me, but this is my first full playthrough of the first Dark Souls, so cut me a little slack! Anyway, I just have that awesome buzz of defeating a tough Souls boss and wanted to share my victory with the community ^ _ ^ Next time, I'll try it solo, which I'm sure will result in much more suffering. I also want to say that if you're new to the first Dark Souls game or just suck like I do, don't give up, because you WILL come out victorious in the end. May the flames guide thee ✌

    Something new?

    Posted: 18 Oct 2019 11:11 AM PDT

I just was playing through sens fortress and messing around trying to get myself a man-seprent greatsword when I found something really cool. Tranquil walk of peace (as demonic of a miracle as it is) triggers pressure plate traps in the effects vicinity. I was really confused for a short while but it makes total sense, the weight and downward force pushes down traps and triggers them. I lost a lot of souls because of this mechanic, but damn is it a cool little touch that I haven't seen anyone talk about yet.

Once again, dark souls teaches me something new.

(Edited for spelling and to say thanks for all the positive feedback, I especially like the concept of using this for trolling. Not sure why, but the post was locked so I can not respond, either way, hope we keep finding more stuff like this!)

    Thanks sun bros!

    Posted: 18 Oct 2019 09:59 PM PDT

Sun bros is a great covenant. I don't like to invade, but co-op is fun, and i like helping people, too.

This time, though, it was I who needed help. Gargoyles were getting me down...ran out of resin, and was just generally sucking after the faster pace of ds2 and Des. Saw a couple summon signs outside the parish, figured lets go three deep, my main problem was the 2nd goyle, so as long as i have a distraction, im good.

These cats were gnarly! Totally murdered a goyle while im plinking in some middling damage. After the fray was over, i noticed a bunch of goodies on the ground...a full marvelous chester set +10, and a four pronged plow +15. did they die, did they jump off the edge, or did they just drop me some stuff? I dont remember seeing that gear on them. Obv some ng+ bros, playing a low level build, i was quite suprised. My current armor combo had 21 poise, but im def gonna use this equipment, it has awesome resistances for where i am in the game, at level 22...

    Thanks, whoever you were.

I Finally Understand This Game After Trying and Retrying It For Years

    Posted: 18 Oct 2019 11:46 AM PDT

I've started playing Dark Souls: Prepare to Die so many times over the past several years. I've always given up or rolled so many alts in the beginning stages in vain thinking that was the problem. In the past week, I decided to give this game one more try, going in knowing that if I rage or quit out so soon into it, that would've concluded my experience with it permanently.

The farthest I've ever gotten prior to today was Gaping Dragon. I simply couldn't beat it, no matter how many times I tried, summoned Solaire, etc. I'd come back to the game six months to a year later, start new all over again, get to the same point and give up. Today, not more than 15 minutes ago from, I had a moment of clarity and of triumph.

I don't know if it's that my patience has gotten better over the past few years, my tolerance for failure has increased, a combination of both of those things and a bit of skill and good fashioned luck, or what, but I was finally able to kill that damn Dragon on the first try today with a Sorcerer I rolled a couple of nights ago.

    The feeling is euphoric.

I'm pumped enough to set the controller down and write this and might even take a break for a few hours to just enjoy the feeling. I know that Blighttown is coming and I'm excited, a little scared from the horror stories I've heard here and there, but most importantly, I'm feeling pure exhilaration for the future this game holds.

These Souls games finally, finally click for me and there's no looking back now.

Here it is, I made a poll in order to find out what people like the most in Dark Souls, but because the amount of votes are too little to get accurate results I was hoping if you could help by voting here. Thanks for your help :)

    Dark souls parody song?

    Posted: 18 Oct 2019 07:44 PM PDT

Hey there is a old parody song of dark souls or one of the souls series that I enjoyed a few years ago that I cant find anymore. The song was made to express how frequently someone dies in the game, having the phrase "and then you died" after every line in the song. The only line I clearly remember is "You walk across a bridge and then you died". The song was definitely suppose to be funny. I cant seem to find it anymore, when I search for it I get MiracleOfSounds You Died song which is a good song but not a parody song. Does anyone remember this? Can anyone link me the song or send me in the right direction?

Why didn't Gwyn spam crotch spawn?

    Posted: 18 Oct 2019 09:28 PM PDT

So we have the age old scenario; the source of light and all things not horribly mind breaking is dying. The First Flame has had a good run, but now the juicy Age of Dark is coming to do it's decisively vague nonsense and possibly ruin everything for everyone or just for everyone that Gwyn actually cares about.

But there's a solution: set himself on fire and hope someone comes up with a better solution in the thousand or so years it takes for him to die.

Problem: this is not a permanent solution since as strong as he is Gwyn is not an eternal fuel source. Furthermore Gwyn's/the God's reign is based on his personal strength and loyalty to him as a figurehead rather than simply inherent power, without him the entire political structure the civilization falls to his children and their ability to command loyalty on a personal scale and so forth.

Furthermore his best shot at finding a solution to the fire fading under these circumstances would be Seath and his lads. Problem: without him standing over the Duke the treacherous snake might just, you know; not do anything once he finishes his magic immortality rock. His entire thing is being a right d$$k after all.

All of this spells a likely scenario where Seath just stays in his castle, loving being immortal while the Gods slowly weaken and lose the ability to ever threaten him (because they really don't like him and probably pose a danger if he steps out of line). Gwyn's kids eventually weaken, and lose control because they lack the skills to manage an empire. Then finally humans step up and assume functional control, make their own empires while paying lip service to the Gods and make Thrones of Want or some other dubiously defined nonsense.

But there is another solution: the First Flame can be 'recharged' just by sacrificing a powerful soul to it. It doesn't even really need to be someone with a Lord Soul, just one with a massive amount of souls combined into one.

But those kind of people are rare to come by, a single human would need to kill and nom hundreds of thousands of other plebs to even come close to what is needed. Except there is a ready supply of such beings; Gods.

Each of the Gods (that we meet) has immensely powerful souls, even when they apparently lack pieces of Gwyn's own Lord Soul. Furthermore even the weakest among them are still leagues above what the average human can achieve without considerable amounts of homicide. Meanwhile even if the weaker gods couldn't form a powerful enough soul on their own, simply crushing the weaker ones and forcing their souls into a single container (Frampt could probably help if there were no other solution) for another 'willing' god (or duped pleb) to nom and then sending the poor sod to burn in place of Gwyn is far more efficient in both time and resources. It also avoids the geopolitical problem of losing the top God when you need him for various things besides just keeping Seath on track to save the flame.

The only problem is that there might be a numerical limit to how many children his wife/concubines can bear in a period of time.

Also this is hilariously dickish even by his standards, but I think Gwyn could 'somehow' bear to do it.

So why didn't our favourite lighting tosser just spam kids for kindling until Seath found a solution?

The DLC is an amazing challenge

    Posted: 19 Oct 2019 12:48 AM PDT

I finished the DLC for my first time in NG+ and I found Kalameet more difficult than Manus. Manus is easier 'cause he has a restricted moveset (about 8 attacks) instead of Kalameet that has about 13 attacks that I didn't know. For example the first time I used rolling backwards when he blows his "fire" in a straight line. I died to him for 8 times, Manus just killed me 4 times. Praise the sun!

    Dark souls 3

    Posted: 19 Oct 2019 04:10 AM PDT

So, I beat half of dark souls 1(just beat orenstein and smough) and I'm honestly really done with the game. I don't feel motivated to play it, and now it just frustrates me when I die and I have to go back so far. I have heard people say dark souls 3 is the easiest, but it's still challenging. I've seen people play that and I actually feel motivated to play it. My question is, is dark souls 3 harder than 1

    Best game ever

    Posted: 18 Oct 2019 03:56 PM PDT

after replaying all the soulsborne games, i have to say, i still think dark souls 1 is the best soulsborne game (maybe from game). i prefer the lore in this game than the sequels and BB mainly because of the amazing characters like artorias, sif, gwyn, seath. the world design needs no introduction, the art direction is amazing, the DLC has some of the best bosses in the series and the art style is amazing. exploration is the best in the series.

everything that i mentioned not only makes this game my fav in the series but its also still the best game i have ever played.

Why is Mama censored on Dark Souls Remastered

    Posted: 18 Oct 2019 04:13 PM PDT

My friend wanted her name to be brood mama and didn't realize that mama was censored. Now it looks horrible it looks like brood (insert 4 letter 'curse word' here). Why censor words in general isn't dark souls a M rated game. Why can we look at blood but words will ruin our tiny innocent minds. Cause let me tell you waffle is also censored in one of the dark souls. I understand blue waffle is a thing but seriously

Aside from a small graphical upgrade, is Dark Souls remastered basically the same game as the original DS?

    Posted: 18 Oct 2019 05:57 PM PDT

I'm asking this because I was never able to finish the original Dark Souls. I tried to do it on my old Xbox 360 and it was torture, not because the game was too hard, but because the performance was ridiculously horrendous, especially since my display was locked at like 480p. I decided to get it on PC after a few years and I'm stuck with the remastered version. I was considering getting the original game with DSfix but that ship has sailed clearly.

This might seem weird of me to ask, but DSR is the exact same game in most regards, correct? Because I don't want to know that I've been playing an inferior version of the game for the past few months.

What do you guys think happens after the first flame is linked?

    Posted: 18 Oct 2019 08:23 AM PDT

Do you guys think the world becomes "normal" again for a period of time, or something else? Dark souls doesn't specify what happens after this happens very clearly, and is very speculative as we all know.

Do other player phantoms disappear after you beat a boss.

    Posted: 18 Oct 2019 02:35 PM PDT

    Hey guys,

I'm kinda a dark souls virgin, so forgive this somewhat stupid question please. :) Today I beat the gargoyles by summoning some phantom. It was a lady throwing her lighting shit so I'm assuming it was an online player. After we smashed the gargoyles, I lost sight of the phantom. My question is that I am wondering if the phantom or all phantoms disappear after you defeat the boss, or if the person just ran off into my world. (which would be a problem haha)

Looking forward to this being cleared up!

    Thanks
