    Is It Me Or Are There A Lack Of Shortcuts in DSII?

    One thing I came to love and look forward to about both DeS and DSR were the shortcuts in each level. It's something that always made me happy and made me feel like I'm making progress. And obviously it made getting back to the boss much easier.

    For example, the feeling of relief I got when finding the shortcut in the Swamp of Sorrow in DeS was one of my favorite parts, knowing that I wouldn't need to trudge through that damn swamp area again.

    Same when I found the ladder connecting the Undead Burg to Solaire and the Dragon up top.

    But unless I'm missing something DSII doesn't seem to have these types of shortcuts or at least not as frequently.

    The only one I can remember so far (I'm about halfway through the game) was the one in No Man's Wharf and that one wasn't even that much of a shortcut.

    What says you on the matter oh community of Soulsborne?

    Need Help With Doors of Pharros

    I need help getting to the boss. I went through the entirety of the level and unfortunately I guess I wasted 3 of my lockstones because I didn't know this room would have like 20 doors.

    I can see the boss door and I used my last lockstone on the door closest to the fog but nothing opened. So now I have 0 lockstones and no idea how to get to the boss.

    Edit: Missed the opening that lead to the final bonfire so thank you for the help. Now to kill some rats.

    I'm really in the mood for that. I have only the original version (not sotfs) with all 3 DLCs, on PC/steam. I know that narrows it down but I'd be happy if I found someone. I really like to co-op.

    Is it me or do weapons degrade very quickly?

    So ive been playing the Dark Souls games for about a good 2-3years now, and after replaying DS2 SoTFS i realized that weapons degrade and break very quickly when compared to DS1&3. Is it just me or is that the case? This is most notable when using katanas and rapiers, because DS2 is the only souls game where i prefer dex over strength.

    Spear/Lance Only (Scholar of the First Sin)

    Hello, I'm thinking of doing a spear/lance only play-through of SOTFS as the title suggests (hopefully 0 deaths in the process, but I know how that will turn out for the nth time), but I'm unsure what build to do and what weapon to aim for.     Smelter demon felt like Fromsoft was trying to prepare me for something

    Hey everyone,

    So last night I made my way into iron keep and squared off against the smelter demon. The first battle went south, but I got him in the second round. After this fight, I had a weird sense that my gameplay was being tested with him to prepare me for the next bosses.

    Maybe I'm talking out of my ass here and this just isn't a thing, but during that fight I REALLY got the impression that Fromsoft wanted me to work on my dodging and my ability to take advantage of openings. If I would've stood there tanking his damage on my shield, I would have died. I needed to anticipate his attacks and dodge correctly, there wasn't much of a middle ground. If I would have stood around just dodging attacks, his DoT would have "eventually" killed me. I needed to make sure I was always trading back and doing damage or I would have died eventually.

    The arena wasn't overly challenging to navigate and the boss wasn't overly difficult, it was the perfect environment to help players grow by adding small interactions in a reasonable fight. And after the win, I genuinely felt like I improved.

    Did anyone else feel this was back when they first battled through the game? Because for me, it feels absolutely fantastic.

    How does covenant pvp work?

    So, I'm pretty new to dark souls 2 and I've put around 30 hours in total. I love the pve but sometimes I want to take a break from non stop constant progress and do something else. I'd love to try and get into pvp since I never really got into it nor was I any good at it in ds1. Now, I'm wondering, how do I earn glory and reputation for my rat king overlord? Do I get invaded while I wear the covenant ring, do I need to invade manually or is there some other way of doing it?

    Also any ds2 pvp tips for a complete beginner who plays with a shield and a +6 halbert?

    No controllers working?

    I've played both DSR and DS3 with the same Xbox One controller with no problems at all. I can go into both games right now with that controller and it works no issue, but for some reason DS2 won't work.

    I've reconfig'd the controller, made sure it was enabled in the steam settings and everything. Don't have any other controllers plugged in. Hell the controller works when I go into Big Picture while playing the game, but when I tab back into the game it doesn't register anything.

    Tried multiple USB ports, tried my Dualshock 4 with and without the DS4Windows app. Downloaded the Xbox Accessories app. Nothing is working. Even refunded DS2 and bought Scholar instead to see if that would work and no.

    Does anybody know of any steps I can do to fix this?

    edit: Nevermind, I fixed it by unplugging USB footpedal. Why the fuck does a USB footpedal stop the controller from working?
