    I fricking did it!

    Posted: 19 Apr 2021 03:19 AM PDT

After 106 hours of gameplay and many many deaths, I' finally beat the game today! Honestly, this is the best game I've ever played. I can still remember how I defeated (and got defeated by) every boss I challenged. I felt great when Gwyn fell to my blade. Like I accomplished something. It was unlike the ending of any game I've ever played. Currently on NG+. Rung the first bell easily. I love this game!

I don't like Skyrim, and I think it's because Dark Souls ruined RPG's for me.

    Posted: 18 Apr 2021 06:11 PM PDT

I know I'm a decade late, but I just started playing Skyrim for the first time, and all I have to say is... Eh? I really don't understand the hype. I have been looking forward to playing this game forever, and I'm incredibly underwhelmed. I'm struggling to figure out if it's because it's really just an over hyped, outdated game, or if it's because Dark Souls set the bar for RPG's so incredibly high. I assume it's the latter. I don't know how to feel about this. Should I be content because I found the cream of the crop, or upset because no game will ever be the same. Does anyone else feel like this?

Dark Souls is the only game that I still enjoy after playing for more than a 150 hours.

    Posted: 18 Apr 2021 02:19 PM PDT

Alright, that may not be entirely true. I've played a lot of Minecraft and multiplayer games, but those are just different types of games. I believe I put something around 110 hours in Dying Light, but there isn't any other game closer than that. I play Dark Souls Remastered on the PS4. I did a ~30 hours playthrough, got tired of it and put it down for a few months. Now I have a NG+2 playthrough with a 135 hours and SL155 and started a high strength PvP run today.

For some reason I'm always excited to do things in Dark Souls I've already done. Leveling up, defeating bosses, exploring areas for cool weapons. Like I said I'm on a high strength run right now, I've mostly been playing PvE and would like to get into PvP. I have played light armor and dex weapons msot of the time but I'm really enjoying the heavy armor and weapons now too. There's no actual goal or things to discover for me now, yet this game just still doesn't bore me for some reason. I'm excited to level up my vitality, endurance and strength up some more tomorrow, defeat some bosses and play PvP!

My favorite boss is Artorias. He's both a good boss for heavy and light builds. Many different moves and some do lots of damage, so learning his moveset is really rewarding. I also loved how you could save Sif and their stories!. I also thought the Bell Gargoyles were very fun to fight. They are a great lesson for the player because rolling is very useful in this fight. My least favorite is probably Moonlight Butterfly. The arena is really boring, the boss only has a few attacks, and it was just really awkward to fight without ranged weapons, honestly. The rewards from the castle also weren't that good.

My favorite area is probably the Royal Wood. It simply looks beautiful and I like how it's just Darkroot Garden but back in time. And of course the Undead Burg is amazing for that fantastic level design. My least favorite is probably the Demon Ruins and Lost Izalith. Not sure why but those were the areas I looked least forward to visiting to. My favorite NPC is probably Andre. He just seems like a good guy. My least favorite is Patches, I think that's self explanatory.

On my NG+2 run I mostly use the Uchigatana, Zweihander, Claymore and Moonlight Greatsword. I used to wear Lautrec's armor, but now I wear Stone Armor with MOTF for light and Havel's set for heavy. In the beginning of this playthrough I used the Hand Axe and Titanite Catch Pole for a long time with light armor. I started leveling up Intelligence lately, because I started to use sorceries more. I didn't really use any magic in the beginning, but now I use pyromancy a lot and sorceries now.

I just wanted to share my opinion on this beautiful game. It got a bit longer than expected but I said what I wanted to say. Have a nice day everyone!

A friend recommended I do this!

    Posted: 18 Apr 2021 10:32 PM PDT

Hey there! So I have been dabbling with Davinci Resolve and learning how to edit right around the same time I played Dark Souls for the very first time (I have never played a souls/borne game before). I decided to record and edit it and it made for some pretty funny content. A friend of mine said I should post it here so mods if this is not allowed take it down if it is allowed, thanks!

Some criticism and recommendations is really appreciated. If you do watch it, I do hope you enjoy it!

    Posted: 18 Apr 2021 01:56 PM PDT

I have just beaten Manus and it took 3 tries, the 1st try I got him to half health, 2nd didn't go so well and the 3rd try I thought about cheesing him but instead put on Havel's set and equipped my Zweihander +15 and just straight up attacked him. Now all I have left is Black Dragon Kalameet and Gwyn

    Posted: 18 Apr 2021 01:02 PM PDT

And on a similar note, any recommendations for how we should play it? I feel like I don't want to interfere with his experience too much, cus I'm pretty good at this point and don't want to trivialize the game. At least from my perspective and past experience I feel like it's best to play the game without too much help, at least first time through. Thoughts?

Artorias DLC concerns from a new player

    Posted: 18 Apr 2021 12:37 PM PDT

I have finally begun the Artorias DLC and though many things lore-wise about the DLC have already been spoiled for me through my own fault... I didn't know how the DLC was structured. When I entered the first fog gate and realized it was Artorias... I homeward boned out because I figured I should save him for last because ya know the DLC is named after him and stuff? Idk. Then I thought... is this what I'm supposed to do? Fight Artorias and then finish the rest of the DLC? I can see there's a path right near his fog wall that leads to a lot of new area.

So that's where I am at... should I really kill Artorias and THEN continue down that path? I just really want to do what makes sense from 'new player' perspective and I guess I imagined in my head that Artorias would be the last fight of the DLC

So I just started a new character got to firelink for the 10,000th time (how it feels) and decided to kill the crestfallen warrior. To my surprise when I killed him he did not drop a humanity. Is this an oversight or is there an explanation for this. I don't remember for sure if he drops one once he goes hallow, does anyone know?

Do you think bluepoint has earned the right to make a dark souls remake?

    Posted: 18 Apr 2021 10:54 PM PDT

Dark souls is 10 years old this year. It still plays well and the looks hold up pretty good. the first half of the game might be my personal favourite game ever it's so special to me and probably a lot of other people too. But I still think it falls apart a bit in the second half. What do you think if bluepoint got a chance to remake it and got some creative freedom to fix up places like izilith and the tomb of the giants? Even make it a collaborative effort between them and fromsoft.
