A Hydra in Ash Lake just flew over me and died. Posted: 23 Feb 2021 05:09 PM PST I didn't hit, nor did anything to it. It simply was above me flying, then it went straight to the water and died. Was I supposed to save it or anything? [link] [comments] |
About 4 hours into Dark Souls 2 I really don't understand the hate it gets Posted: 23 Feb 2021 08:58 PM PST I'm only about 4 hours into DS2 only bosses I've beat are The giant, The Pursuer and Ruin Sentinels and I'm having a blast so far. I really regret not giving this one a try earlier after sinking hundreds of hours into DS1 and DS3 and needing to fill my souls itch. Really reminds me that I should be trying out games before listening to other people. [link] [comments] |
New to DSR and allready bullied :'( Posted: 23 Feb 2021 04:08 AM PST Laugh if you want but the Bell Gargoyles are beating my ass. Phase 1 is easy but when they start spaming flames it's just hard. Just wanted to share my salt. Cheers Edit : Also new to DSR and allready love the community. Thanks guys you awesome [link] [comments] |
What's with all the "I beat X boss on the first try is this normal??" posts Posted: 23 Feb 2021 08:08 PM PST I'm new to the sub, but god damn guys. You know quality build with greatswords and greatshields simplifies the game right? No shame in that, I do it, but damn... I can't help but think you're trying to subtle brag and not genuinely curious. If DS1 is your last souls game in the franchise like mine, then you probably beat every boss on the first try (see how my subtle brag sounds), but you all post about it every day it seems [link] [comments] |
The All Artorias Run approaches, and I am once again crowdsourcing build ideas Posted: 23 Feb 2021 04:36 PM PST Challenger Andy here. As the All Seath Run reaches it's conclusion, I will be moving on to the All Artorias Run (every enemy and boss is turned into Artorias), now thought to be the most difficult in this category of challenge runs for DS1. Assuming it doesn't crash, what would be the best builds to combat him? Ignorant as I am of armors, weapons, and stats, I don't even know where to start as I can't seem to find his resistances. Also, what starting class should I used to most swiftly defeat the Artorias the replaces Asylum Demon? Thank you in advance for your ideas. [link] [comments] |
Tarus Demon committed suicide on me today Posted: 23 Feb 2021 05:24 PM PST When I got to the Tarus Demon today he ended up knocking me off the bridge and then jumped off shortly after giving me the win as I died. Has this happened to anyone else? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 23 Feb 2021 12:49 PM PST I'm on my first playthrough ever (trying to play blind/without a guide) but I have played Bloodborne. With that being said I gotta ask what in the world is going on in this game? First my head burst into eggs, then I'm fighting a dragon made out of centipedes n now I'm walking through a field of lava surrounded by zombie-dragons lower halfs. The deeper I go, the weirder things get and I feel like I got a lot of game left... Update: The Zombie-Dragon legs are formidable. [link] [comments] |
Do the fog gates have a lore explanation? Posted: 24 Feb 2021 03:32 AM PST Or is it the only thing in the game that isn't explained? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 24 Feb 2021 03:48 AM PST A few hours ago i finished dark souls and linked the flame in honor to solaire. Now i will present you my rankings for all the bosses according to my experience. Also i watched some guides and speedeunners before picking up the game. Deaths: 1. Artorias (14) 2. Stray demon (8) 3. Bed of Chaos( 5) 4. Gwyn( 5) 5. Ornstein and Smough (4) 6. 3 Kings (3) 6. Centipede Demon (3) 7. Demon Firesage (2) 8. Kalameet (1) 8. Gwyndolin (1) 8. Capra Demon (1) 9. Seath (1, but it was supposed to happen i guess) 9. Taurus demon (1, but he died simultaneously with me) 10. Sif (0) 10. Manus (0) 10. Asylum demon(0) 10. Moonlight Butter (0) 10. Pricilla (0) 10. Gargoyles (0) 10. Sanctuary Guardian (0) 10. Quelaag(0) 10. Gaping Dragon (0) 10. Nito (0) 10. Ceaseless Discharge (0) 11. Pinwheel (0) How fun they were: fun: Sanctuary Guardian, Sif enjoyable: Kalameet, Artorias, Gwyn, Manus, Gargoyles, Taurus Demon, Quelaag memorable: Seath, 4 Kings neutral: the rest slightly annoying: Centipede, Demon Firesage annoying: Bed of Chaos, Capra Demon Area Ranking: Beautiful: Dukes Archives, Darkroot Garden and Basin, Oolacile Township, and Ash Lake Unique: Lost Izalith and Demon Ruins, Catacombs, Kiln of the first flame The reason for paranoia: Sens Fortress, Chasm of the Abyss, Tomb of the Darkness, Crystal Caves fine i guess: the rest I finishes the game at SL 88 and horrible stats and had put two levels into Resistance. The game was a good experience and i really enjoyed going through its miserable world and chatting with best boy Laurentius. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 23 Feb 2021 10:58 PM PST The internet went out at our house for 2 weeks because of a massive snowstorm in Texas. One of the only offline games I had on my Xbox one was Dark Souls Remastered. I've played about 200 hours of Dark Souls 3 and decided to try this game out. Let's just say I played the heck out of it. I somehow managed to play the game for 60 hours in 1 week which would put me in overtime for a normal job. After I had beaten the game once I already knew I was gonna go for ng+. One of the things I was curious about was "where do you soul farm in this game?" So I looked through the wiki and YouTube videos but they all looked really slow, so I decided to make my own method. I had noticed that silver knights dropped a bunch of souls when killed so I tried to take advantage of that because I could kill them in 2 hits. I looked up all the methods to maximize soul gain and it was symbol of avarice, covetous ring and overkill. The problem was I could overkill a silver knight until I had an idea. I upgraded a demon axe to +15 and broke my favor ring for a hornet ring. Now I could deal 1379 to a silver knight in one hit via parry. So with all my soul gain I decided to start finding an efficient route, you can run through the castle in a way that allows you to kill all but two silver knights in the castle. With each normal knight I earned 5500 souls and each bow knight 7200. With this method I created you can earn 65000 per 3 mins consistently. So I ran it for about 1 hour and finally reached the 1 million mark. Someone please tell me if anyone else has done this method or if I'm not the first to do it but from my research no one else had and it looks like the fastest way to gain souls over every method. I never realized how OP sorcery was until I beat O&S using only homing soulmass. Posted: 23 Feb 2021 10:42 PM PST This was always the hardest boss fight for me, and one of my least enjoyed. I simply don't find the gameplay required to win enjoyable, and the fight kinda tedious. Until I played a sorcerer. Just keep dodging and casting homing soulmass. Its still not a fun fight IMO but its at least fast. [link] [comments] |
I do not know if I can take it anymore!!! Feeling very sad for Sif. Posted: 23 Feb 2021 09:06 PM PST So, I am playing Dark Souls for the first time in my life. I played a lot of video games in my life but I have never played dark souls before even though I used to have a digital copy of this game in the xbox 360 - which my two younger brothers played a LOT. Well it happens that a few days ago I got a copy of the remastered version for Nintendo Switch and I dive deep into this game: I never knew a I need it and now I just do not know if I can live without it. I am breathing this game. All of my free time is dedicated to play it. But then: Sif!!! I believe there are [[[SPOILERS]]] ahead Why? I could not handle the fight in my first encounter with him. So I played some more hours, defeated some other bosses, got stronger and then I came back. The fight was a lot more easy than I expected but closer to the end when he was limping with a broken paw it was HARD to hit him. I never felt so SAD playing a game before. ok. It was a great lonely wolf guarding some grave and really furious because I tried to reach some sword.... but I had no other choice other than killing him. At this point I do not if I can handle anymore of this sadness and loneliness. I am alone and I am fighting alone and I do not even know why exactly I am doing all of this stuff. Eliminating all of those souls. Since the beginning I am fighting those monsters and living creatures with existence that sometimes seems to be sad, lonely and painful but Sif was the most organic creature until now and not just that but he seems to be also the most lonely of them all. And I just beat him to death. But closer to death he was so urged to keep on fighting protecting whatever was so important to him that it really broke my heart. I cried. Literally. Like I said I am diving deep into this game but I do not know if I can handle another Sif. That's it. I just wanted to get this off my chest. I will continue playing but I just want to feel some warmth. Please do not comment anything that could be a spoiler to me. This is my first time playing and I do not want to know anything further about the gameplay and the lore. I just hope that in the future something about Sif and his story will comfort me because this fight really break my heart and it is really difficult to me to know that I killed him and I do not know anything about him and why he was guarding that grave and that sword with his life. Looking for a (mildly) challenging class Posted: 24 Feb 2021 04:23 AM PST Before writing this post, I fear that you will kill me for this. Some months ago I completed Dark Souls for the first time. I knew about Uchigatana, so I just picked it early and went for a DEX build. After having upgraded the Uchi sufficiently, everything was too easy. I'm not especially good at playing videogames, so it was good to be able to enjoy the game and complete it without getting too frustrated. However, I would like to start it again, and this time I would like it to be a little bit more challenging. Not hardcore, just something more complex that makes the game more fun. Out of ignorance, I created a pyromancer, but then I heard that I made a bad choice, since it's the easier class. I chose it because, as a DEX guy, I plainly ignored everything that had to do with magic or faith, and I was looking for a new point of view. Which class would you recommend me? [link] [comments] |
Play styles are so different and i threw me off. Posted: 23 Feb 2021 11:14 PM PST So, i played DS1 first and loved it, got used to the playstyle and timing and then i finished it and decided to do a challenge. I tried to do the Solaire only challenge, only Solaire's armor and weapons/shield along with magic and miracles. No summons, other weapons or pyromancies are allowed. And i got pretty far, i got all the way up to 4 kings and got stuck. So i decided to try DS2 which i didnt really like at first (im trying again and am liking it.) So i started DS3, and i really enjoyed it, almost as much as DS1. I just finished DS3 today and decided to give 4 Kings a go again. I logged onto DS1 and got my ass handed to me. The actual gameplay is so much slower than in DS3. I didnt really realize how slow the gameplay of DS1 was, no hate its just so vastly different it threw me off. Id say DS1 gameplay is closer in speed to Demon's souls and DS3 is closer to DS2. [link] [comments] |
Something Weird Happened to me in Darkroot Garden Posted: 24 Feb 2021 05:02 AM PST Hey all, I'm still kind of a noob but beat the Moonlight Butterfly last night and saw this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b7_8lbTgLtk I couldn't figure out what it was, if anyone knows please let me know. Is it a glitch? Is it an apparition? Is it quite possible a secret never uncovered before? (Probably not, but a noob can dream right?) Thanks and just want to say I am absolutely loving this game, I can't stop thinking about it. I'm like that Sheldon meme, "I don't need sleep, I need answers!" [link] [comments] |

Finally beat Four kings in NG+, here are some tips that hopefully help Posted: 23 Feb 2021 04:58 PM PST I made a post a while ago being confused why four kings was considered so hard but i beat him with like 3 estus flasks (I was a heavy melee build). I then went to NG+, and it was harder, but guys like Nito or Seath, and maybe even Manus and Kalameet when I used the Greatshield of Artorias, were not too much of a problem. I then went to Four Kings and got ABSOLUTELY destroyed. Like I did 1/16 damage before another king showed up, and they wiped the floor with me. I then did some leveling for a few days and got str to 50, dex to 45, faith to 30, and int to 38, and was still getting wiped out by Four Kings. I went to a few guides and none of them worked. But then I tried this guide, and got painter's sword thing to max and got a ton of buffs, and wiped the floor with Four Kings. The absolute dps of a high dex weapon was insane. It actually broke mid fight, and I had to switch to Falchion. Some tips I found super useful (If you are in ng+ and have decently high dex): use a weapons like Falchion or Painting Guardian Sword at +10 - +15 have dex 40 or above, and decent int and faith (enough to use weapon buffs) (also strength isn't really required) hug the Four Kings, as the farther you are, the more damage they do. If you hug them they do like no damage, but even slightly far away, and it can be even a 1 hit. Don't estus when you get low health, as it's a dps race, and you have to kill this King before the next arrives, otherwise it's game over. Heal after that king arrives, and before the next is dead. Though if you are like 1 hit away from death then do estus Get buffs like power within, sunlight blade, and generally things that buff weapon damage wear full havels, it's ok if you midroll, though the kings will do insane damage as you are approaching them to hug them, so avoid those attacks as much as you can. wear grass crest shield by dual wielding the weapon Remember you can get summons to help with Four Kings git gud If you need help with ng Four Kings, i don't really know. Just try and max dps, and hug the kings. all right thanks for coming to my Ted Talk [link] [comments] |

The Great Hollow Crystal Lizards Posted: 24 Feb 2021 03:26 AM PST Hi, I am playing Dark Souls: Remastered, and have been trying to kill all the crystal lizards. I have lost track of how many I've killed (either 9 or all 10), and have tried quit loading at each spawn point several times with no more appearing. The reason I'm not sure if there is 1 (or more) left is because every time I load into the game for about the first second or so (about the duration of the standing up animation that plays when you load) I can hear the "twinkling" sound effect, design to let you know of the presence of crystal lizards, before fading. Is this sound just a bug (I've heard there are lots), or are there still some left? Thank you to all those who help answer! [link] [comments] |

[PS4] Can anyone help me enter the Warrior Of Sunlight covenant? Posted: 24 Feb 2021 03:21 AM PST I have created a new character and trying to get into warrior of sunlight for platinum, however I am not getting summoned at all [link] [comments] |
Posted: 23 Feb 2021 03:34 PM PST Hey yo everyone hope you're doing good, I have a question for anyone willing to answer: I have a SL 90 character right now with 30 faith, should I bump it to 50 to increase my damage on my +15 BSS or keep it at 30? Bearing in mind this is my first time trying a faith build. If I bump it to 50 what talisman should I be using - darkmoon talisman? if so, I'll probably farm the crows in painted world or go to a trading subreddit. Since I'm at 30 faith right now I'm using canvas talisman, that good enough? All in all would you say bumping my faith from 30 to 50 with the darkmoon talisman is worth the damage increase [link] [comments] |
Black Knight Sword breaks the game? Posted: 23 Feb 2021 09:08 AM PST Doing a platinum run of the remastered version after first beating it years ago. In that run through I got a BKS in Undead Burg and grinded there to be able to use it. I had very little issues after that. This time around I don't have one and the difference is noticeable. Not so much boss fights, but general minions and such seem to be more difficult to dispatch. Maybe I am just feeling sorry for myself as I waded through Blighttown, The Great Hollow and Ash Lake all in one session! [link] [comments] |
My (mandatory) impression of Dark Souls Posted: 24 Feb 2021 02:17 AM PST I finally started Dark Souls Remastered. I started my journey with Dark Souls 3 and I loved it so much that, after I got platinum, I had to start my journey on Dark Souls. So these are my impression. So. This game has aged. And comparing it to Dark Souls 3 is even a little bit unfair. The growth is astonishing. My first big accomplishment is get used to the different standards and mechanics. The less smooth moveset the way less smooth rolls. The carried weight. Even the timing of a chug of Estus. That. It. Takes. Forever. Basically in pvp it means getting backstabbed, I was really angry the first times. But I got used to it. But the development is evident even in little things such as embers and humanity. I loved more embers. I founded myself counting them, using them only on desperate circumstances. And they were more easy to use because I didn't have to be at a bonfire if I wanted to summon a friend. Also it felt overpowered to have 20 estus+virtually 99 humanity. In DS3 I often found myself counting my estus sips, while here hardly ever. I choose a character in strength, started with a bandit. Almost got killed by the Asylum Demon because my roll timing was set on "DS3" but still started this journey. For a bit I used the zweihander, but as soon as I landed my hand on the Great Club I couldn't resist and went full bonker. Just love it and make my game really much easier. My first play through has been obviously blind. So I got lost. Big time. Many times. The map is simply huge. I explored every tiny piece and still missed some objects. Even after I beated the Iron Golem and killed every giant, at the Sen Fortress there were some other objects. I can't compare with DS3 map, I really don't know which is bigger, which is more labyrinthy. Anyway there is really a lot of space and really tied up a lot more with shortcuts. My jaw dropped a couple times by how I always ended up at the shrine. Also it's really frustrating that you can't warp yourself through the bonfires. You know, coming from Dark Souls 3...even the chance to warp to some bonfires has been depressing. Once I checked something at the shrine and had to run all the way from quelaag to the demon firesage. But at least the first time, I was into exploring and I had some fun. Also another thing I found myself comparing DSR to DS3 is how narrow the passages are always. I mean, blighttown is purely build to make you fall, in Anor Londo you literally walk on few inches of beams, and this is just for instance. It's a lot more platforming than I expected. Another thing I compared are the enemies. In DSR is a bit more harder get to the boss but once you're there is a piece of cake. I struggled a bit with just the Chaos Bed (because it kept pushing me down the hole), but a part from this one, I killed the vast majority of bosses on my first try and always within my third try (thank you Quelaag). On the other hand the road to get there is a little bit harder, but investing humanity at the bonfires in order to have more Estus compensate quite a bit. On DS3 even with an "easy build" I couldn't handle much more than half life of half of the bosses on my first try (no tlor reference intended). As a veteran at my 10th play through. DSR bosses really got challenging only on NG+ when they basically one shot me and there is no room for mistakes. [link] [comments] |
