I really do love you guys.

    Posted: 22 Jan 2021 06:02 AM PST

I've been replaying Dark Souls 2 on my own and Dark Souls 3 with a friend.

Dark Souls 3, I get invaded by multiple twinks with high level gear in the STARTING AREA. all kinds of assholes running off into the enemy, healing with 10 estus, basic guerilla warfare against low level players with shit tier gear.

Dark Souls 2, I get invaded by a guy who turns into a vase, drops a nice wand, says cheerio and jumps of a cliff. This game has the gest community of all the souls games and I'm glad you haven't changed since I've been gone.

Edit: you guys are as nice here as you are in game.

3 years ago, I quit the game because it was too hard. Now I just got platinum.

    Posted: 21 Jan 2021 07:24 PM PST

I wasn't really good at video games. I'm still not. After dying over and over again, I quit, not venturing beyond No Man's Wharf. A little while later, my brother egged me on. I picked up the game again, played on easy mode (sorcery,) despawned every area so I could progress to the bosses without running or using spells along the way. I spammed that roll button like McBuff spams sublime protein dust for those burning gains.

After a while, I beat the game, then beat the other souls games. Except for Demons Souls because I don't have a PS5, and Sekiro, because forcing people to parry to progress through the game sounds like some kind of communism dex propaganda. I'm not even remotely patriotic. Anyway, I found myself drifting back to DS2 again. I loved the atmosphere, Majula, the way the Falconers would run like they were packing that schmeat... it was such a beautiful game. And every time, I picked up something more and more challenging. I ended up spending probably close to 1000 hours on that game.

The only PVP match I've ever won was when someone back stepped wrong and fell off Belfry Sol bell tower. I still probably won't get a no death no bonfire run anytime soon. But realizing that I can casually beat NG++ in less time than it took me to beat the game the first time around is a massive milestone for me. And after another run, I'm happy to say that I finally got 100%, and I'm free again to write my Aldia / Ancient Dragon erotic fanfics.

I just beat the game. :)

    Posted: 22 Jan 2021 02:53 PM PST

I don't have many friends that are Souls fans, so I wanted to celebrate with you guys.

That game was weirdly...lovely. Especially near the end. And that's worth noting: this game really stuck the landing compared to DS1. Drangleic Castle onward is probably my favorite part of the game.

The Pursuer was the hardest boss for me, and I didn't enjoy it. I was too weak and not skilled enough to fight him. I wish I knew it was almost entirely optional, especially in the early game.

My favorite bosses were Looking Glass Knight and the Royal Aegis. No gank, no cheese. Just well-designed fights that were tough but fair.

I loved this game a lot. The emotional beats hit me harder. By the end I felt I would miss Vengarl, Bernhart, Lucatiel and the Emerald Herald. And Vendrick, oddly.

OH, and I LOVED the presentation of the ancient dragon. His "voice" was amazing.

I haven't touched the DLC, I'm saving that for a rainy day, and after I finish DS3, Bloodborne and Sekiro.

That's it, thank you for reading this. And I haven't posted until now, but thanks to all of you for being there every time I almost went hollow. :)

Darklurker is amazing, but the run up is horrible.

    Posted: 21 Jan 2021 09:50 PM PST

I don't think punishing run-ups for bosses are that terrible. Frigid outskirts might be absolute hell, but at least you can try it as many times as you want.

The grind you need to do in order to fight darklurker wouldn't be that bad either if it didn't consume effigies. Effigies are a finite resource. And yes you can get more by burning ascetics in majula or farming them off of the lizard men in shrine of amana but a beginner of this game wouldn't know that. If a beginner also ran out of effigies before being able to kill darklurker, the game has essentially locked up the boss for another playthrough. That is baffling to me.

I shouldn't have to go through an entire playthrough again just to kill one boss. That doesn't incentivise trying to kill the boss again on another playthrough, that only pushes the player to never try again.

The boss itself is incredible though. Such a shame for the grind you have to do before it.

    Those fucking drangleic manikins

    Posted: 22 Jan 2021 04:34 AM PST

8 hours into a no death run just to die as I have so many times to those fucking manikins. It's never a boss that does me in, always that pair of rapid fire blenders. I never struggle with manikins anywhere else in the game but for whatever reason those two are so fucking vicious.

    God damn it

    Fckn Ruin Sentinels

    Posted: 22 Jan 2021 08:19 AM PST

I hate when this game throws you into the battle with more than one boss (besides Ornstein & Smough - that was fun pain in the ass). The first one is easy if you don't accidentally fall off, but the other two... I'm all out of effigies, this Pilgrim summon helps, of course, if it didn't block itself on the ledge. I've got Drangleic shield and this McDuff hammer, which does quite a decent damage, but still I can't manage to take both of them simultaneously.

I just wanted to complain a bit, vent it out. If someone has some other tips or is willing to help I'll be glad.

    Why is ds2 so hard?

    Posted: 22 Jan 2021 11:48 AM PST

So as you can guess this game is insane hard to me and of course i expected nothing else but i have played ds 1 and 2 and i never had such big problems with them. Compared to this ds3 seems like easy mode. I am wondering if i just suck or if anyone has made a similar experince and/or can give me advice.

    Arena pro tip

    Posted: 22 Jan 2021 10:58 AM PST

Always enter the arena with the black crystal equipped.

If you see any colored name, weird symbol name, or offensive non censored name, pop that bad boy immediately.

Better be safe than sorry. As a additional step, you can check your list of recent player via steam tab to see if you're truly against a cheater and then report them via steam. (Private profile, Weird profile photo, zero to no hours at the game yet amazing gear... You know the drill...)

How fragile must your ego be? It's the arena with literally nothing on the line.

Which is the better dex weapon, blacksteel katana or alonne’s katana?

    Posted: 22 Jan 2021 02:19 PM PST

I'm making a dex build For PVE and I'm planning on using a katana. I've heard that blacksteel katana is an amazing dex weapon but alonne's katana also seems pretty good. Which one would you recommend?

Have I accidentally overleveled or is this game extremely easy?

    Posted: 22 Jan 2021 01:59 PM PST

Currently SL 107 and I'm at earthen peak. So far I have absolutely steamrolled through all the bosses. I have killed the Last giant, pursuer, dragon rider, old dragonslayer, flexile sentry, ruin sentinel, belfry gargoyles, lost sinner, chariot, skeleton lord and the covetous demon which was the easiest of the lot. Barely used an estus in any of these fights and my weapon felt like it was doing ridiculous amounts of damage, which is a +10 Uchi and have like 3 more titanite slabs to spare. I'm just wondering if the bosses increase in difficulty further on. Idk if i could continue if its this easy

    Question Regarding Black Armor Edition

    Posted: 22 Jan 2021 01:38 PM PST

    Hey guys,

I have been trying to compare pictures online but I'm trying to collect all the steelbooks for series and have a few already and looking at getting this one next. I have a really good offer on the Black Armor Edition still sealed, and it's a PC copy. What I'm wondering is if the Steelbook is the same as the PS3/Xbox one and I could hypothetically slap the remastered PS4 edition in there and no one would be the wiser it was a PC case.

I know I should keep the game sealed but I want it on display with my PS4 copy of Scholar of the First Sin in there so when I want to play I will see it.

    Thanks all!!!

What is your opinion on the "Great Soul Embraced" sound?

    Posted: 22 Jan 2021 01:23 PM PST

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UkB0Cs0hQks

I really like it but IMO it think it falls a little bit too short because:

    1. The four great bosses while not bad (Even if Old Iron King is easy, he is a really important character in the lore of this game) they could have been way better designed in terms of gameplay.
    2. It lacks a certain visual impact that indicates that this is a really important soul. Maybe if your character emitted a gleam for a short time or some other thing to accompany the sound. Some people just stay quiet in an awkward position waiting for the sound to go off or don't even mind it.

    Most OP PvE build?

    Posted: 22 Jan 2021 11:41 AM PST

I'm doing a build focusing on rushing through from the beginning, all the way to NG++, as fast as possible. Reason being...The only trophies left are for finding all the spells. And once I have those, I'll have every trophy for every game in the franchise!

I'm thinking of doing a pure mage. 50/50 INT/FAI split. Are those powerful enough to easily melt the games bosses? Or would pure STR be better? I'm looking for anything that is OP, and don't mind using glitches either. It'll be my hundredth time playing the game probably, but I've never focused on what's specifically good for PvE - I've always been more of a PvP player.

What's a decent amount of points to put into Adp?

    Posted: 22 Jan 2021 10:15 AM PST

I want to do a strength/vitality build but I hate rolling and sipping on my estus as slowly as humanly possible.

What is the moment that hooked you in Dark Souls 2?

    Posted: 21 Jan 2021 02:27 PM PST

Dark souls 2 is personally my favorite, controversial blah blah blah. I think what really endeared me to Dark Souls 2 is the buildup before the fight with the last giant. I had given up the game a few times, one day I sat down and really just grinded through. Finally descending the elevator and fighting the last giant. It was maybe the biggest rush. That plus the beautiful environments. It just really made a huge impression.

    What about you guys?

    Sun bro help!

    Posted: 22 Jan 2021 06:27 AM PST

I need help gathering sun medals, I know I need to help other people beat bosses, but not many people are summoning me. Is there a common god most people use for the name engraved ring to help with this?

Edit: thanks for the info, much appreciated!

I can't stop fighting The Rotten.

    Posted: 21 Jan 2021 03:42 PM PST

Every time I get a bonfire Acsetic, I head straight to the Black Gulch and burn that bad boy, just so I can revive The Rotten, and beat him again and again. By far my favourite boss, because of that badass cleaver and it's design is so cool!

Speaking of this, I'm interested to know your favourite bosses or a particular boss fight you can't resist repeating.
