| The Beautiful Atmosphere and Story Telling of Dark Souls 2 Posted: 04 Jan 2021 12:24 PM PST Let's start with your character. In DS1 and 3, your character has relatively no background at all, which isn't bad, it allows the player to put themselves into the characters they make. DS2 still does this, but with a twist. If you have seen the intro, the extended one, and some of the promotional material and trailers used to advertise this game, you will see your character DID at one point have a background, a life, things and people he/she cared for. They were a soldier, of some kind I believe, they had a wife and child, if your character is a girl, no need to fret, this just means you married another women, and most likely just adopted a child, that way your past does not change based on the gender you choose. But the thing the game does is that it rips all that away, it shows your character as branded by the dark sign, cursed, to forever live and die, only to live again, but you slowly start losing yourself, who you were, who you used to be and who the loved ones you had. They start to slowly vanish. And as well all see in the intro to the game (if you skipped this you seriously missed out) your character finds themselves, lost, in the woods, being slowly dragged towards the land of the game - Drangleic. As it says in the intro - "But one day, you will stand before its decrepit gate. Without really knowing why...Like a moth drawn to a flame." It seems the further you delve into hollowness, the more and more your drawn to this place. That is just all the amazing symbolism, story telling, and amazing atmospheric design they did, within just the few first minutes of the game, without you even playing it yet. If this gets enough upvotes I will be glad to go further into the areas of the game, the characters, and the background it gives us. EDIT: Oh and the music, god the music. | Question about leveling, a new weapon and farming? Posted: 04 Jan 2021 01:45 PM PST I'm a quite a few hours into the game. I'm at Sinner's Rise and some other place with windmills in the distance. I'm using a Fire Longsword that I think is +5. My VGR, END, ADP is at 20. Vit at 18, Strength at 16 and Dex at 15. Not touched anything else. I've heard about soft caps and stats not mattering as much after a point so what is better to level up?. I'm using a shield and I'm wondering if I should be using another weapon at the moment or working on building one up. I don't like long slow heavy attacks. I'm wearing the drangleic armor and just below 70% on equip weight. I also want to know how to farm more items if possible. I wanted more torches so I killed this guy on a bridge in Huntsman's Copse until he despawned. Is there a covenant that will bring back enemies as I heard something like that and how would I access it. I'm playing the 360 version with the DLC downloaded. [link] [comments] |

I've heard about Elana summoning veldstalt and lucky for me she didnt which made everything presumably a whole lot easier. What DlC should I do next? [link] [comments] |

I know there were 4 kings each with their own kingdoms that has fallen but I want to know is if they existed at the same time or they built their kingdoms upon other kingdoms that have fallen. There are people out there who could do this faster i guess. I just recently got into ds2 again after years of playing ds3. I started doing endurance fights in ds3, my midir fight kinda blew up and there was a gaming magazine article about me somewhere in italy, called DR Commodore. I actually really enjoy the long unsegmented fights. Its not as long as my 10-13 hours of midir. But this is my own introduction to ds2. I'll probably attempt this at ng+7 at some point, but i want to learn the other bosses first. Ng+7 will probably take 6 hours-ish. The chime hits for 6 damage on the first phase, 4 on second. This took me 2-3 days to get with on/off attempts after work. I havent had too much experience with this boss, i guess i learned him properly over the course of these days. [link] [comments] |

| Posted: 04 Jan 2021 03:22 AM PST I got to Earthen Peak and made my way to the boss only to get immediately poisoned and died in like 5 secs. After dying 5 or more times, I figured there must be some other way to defeat her, like I have to get a ring of some sorts and explored the whole area. Gave up after 2hrs and watched a playthrough and found out I had to light the windmill thing on fire. Is this the only way to do this boss and if so, HOW IS ANYONE SUPPOSED TO FIGURE IT OUT?????!!!!! Posted: 04 Jan 2021 02:22 PM PST I don't know if this has ever happened to anyone else, but recently while playing DS2, I would turn on the game and suddenly found myself able to access online features despite the fact I've only ever played the game offline (SOTFS on PS4) and never had an online subscription of any kind. I think it happened at least two or three times recently where I turned on the game and just randomly found myself able to play online and see things offline players wouldn't normally see (like bloodstains from other active players and summon signs for real people). This has never happened to me with any other game I've played, but I'm curious to see if it's ever happened with anyone else. [link] [comments] |

I've never played dark souls before, just a few times at a friends house, and I'm looking to buy one of the games. It looks like dark souls 2 and 3 are 75% off right now on steam but that dark souls remastered is still full price. Is there any story I would need to know before playing DS2? | Posted: 03 Jan 2021 08:18 PM PST I just earned the platinum trophy for DS2 tonight! I have also earned platinum on DSR and will go for DS3 next. I have beaten DS3 but it was before I decided to platinum all the games. I thoroughly enjoyed this game and fell in love with the world and my character. Some info about my run: -220+ hours invested in one character -Final level 226 -Balanced melee build, 50+ strength and Dex. -My least favorite task in pursuit of the platinum was the soul-crushing grind for sunlight medals. -Favorite Boss was Sir Alonne, Velstadt, and the dragon in Aldia's Keep -Favorite areas were Iron Keep and Heide's Tower -Least favorite boss was Covetous demon -Least favorite area was Black Gulch and Huntsmans Copse -I died the most to Fume Knight and Darklurker -Most souls lost at once was around 150K -Favorite armor was Raime's set -Favorite shield was Havel's Greatshield -Favorite weapons: Dark Scythe, Sun Sword, and Bewitched Alonne Sword -Favorite Bow: Dragonrider Bow Overall, I loved the game! I had heard a lot of negativity surrounding it; I'm so glad I decided to check it out for myself. I enjoyed it as much as any of the From software titles. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 04 Jan 2021 07:36 AM PST For NG+ I wanted to try the Raime playstyle, not necessarily a cosplay, but his playstyle, and I was wondering, which straight sword could work best with the FUGS? I was thinking of using the Fume Sword for style but since it has innate dark scaling and the FUGS is a pure strength weapon and it also requires 30 DEX I'm not sure it's a good idea. I know I could use the Fume Sword and apply a Dark resin but idk, so what are your thoughts? Any straight sword that goes well with the FUGS? [link] [comments] |
