Got myself my favourite enemy in DS2

    Posted: 15 Dec 2020 03:30 AM PST

Finished this game for the first time. I have to admit I didn't think I would like it, but it really is rather good.

    Posted: 15 Dec 2020 12:48 PM PST

This year I made it an effort to solo every boss in all the souls games ( minus Sekiro.. which I will do just not this year ).

I finished BB, DS3 and DS2 ( and I had already done DS1 solo with all bosses and DLC ).

DS2 was the last one and I was hesitate cause I remember it being janky and weird and me not liking it so I barely played it like 6 years ago. But... its actually quite good. I am glad I played it.

For fun, my personal 5 hardest bosses in this game would be:

Twin Shadow Tiger Things ( Which may only be hard cause of how annoying they are to get to )

    Sihn ( I hate this fight )

    Allone ( I loved this fight )

Smelter and Fume at the top, which nothing needs to be said about them although they weren't as "hard" as I think people make them out to be. No more than 5 tries for any one boss in this game and most were 1 shots but I suppose that is what happens when you have played these games and have a feel for them. I also think Ivory King would have been harder without the knights helping but I thought you needed them to progress so thats my bad.

Can we talk about Undead Caverns, Frigid Outskirts and Iron Keep or w/e in the DLC? Those areas were BRUTAL. Def all three would be in top 5 hardest areas in ANY souls game IMO.

AS for overall difficulty of these games ... from hardest to easiest... IMO...

BB > DS3 >= DS1 > DS2 > Demon Souls ( Oh yeah, I beat Demon Souls Remake this year too and that was fun but also the easiest ).

By far the hardest for me to platinum out of all the souls game but finally got it a few minutes ago.

    Posted: 15 Dec 2020 04:33 AM PST

I guess now I can pray to the console gods to see if I can score a ps5 to platinum Demon Souls again. Wasnt sure I'd ever get this one but after finally beating Alonne I was confident I could beat the other 2 dlcs that were actually pretty easy. Just another plat post but Praise the 🌞

Does Estoc work well with a hex build?

    Posted: 15 Dec 2020 12:12 PM PST

It's a two handed weapon, I feel like it's slowing me down since I need to swap to two handed.

    Any thoughts appreciated.

    Posted: 15 Dec 2020 02:20 PM PST

I finally decided to get this for PC after beating it a few times on PS4 SOTFS. I wanted to know which of the two mods offers more changes and is more fun.

How do I make a good poison build for PvE?

    Posted: 15 Dec 2020 12:40 PM PST

I'm talking about the best items and equipment for that kind of build, I know many weapons can inflict the effect (as well as that lovely Butterfly armor), but which would be the best choices?

Just beat blue smelter third try

    Posted: 15 Dec 2020 09:58 AM PST

He's easy if you got decent dex with the two phantoms I literally killed him with my dragon rider bow as he fought the two phantoms, then just smacked him twice with my zweihander and he died haha. Poison arrows were very effective as it only poisoned 15 per tick but added up with the phantoms damage and was really easy. This is cheese obviously with no phantoms at all pure melee this shit would be a nightmare haha.

Going to start streaming soon and wanted to ask the community for some ideas

    Posted: 15 Dec 2020 09:57 AM PST

Like the title says I am going to start streaming soon, and thought out of the three games, I am going to start with ds2 (the game I started with) and wanted some ideas on what challenge I should start with. Any suggestions work, just make sure it is difficult. My ideas I have already thought of were an sl1 run, no hit run, speedrun, or speedruning a bosh rush mod. Maybe you guys have some other ideas, like maybe some difficult mods that put a spin on ds2. I will be playing sotfs so keep mod suggestions to that game. Thanks for any suggestions, and dont go hollow!

How to access other part of Lost Bastille from the Pursuer entrance?

    Posted: 15 Dec 2020 01:53 PM PST

I got to Lost Bastille via killing the Pursuer, but now I don't know how to get to the other part. I can't get the guy to kick the barrel down to open the blacksmith, I can't open the big gate, and I don't know how to open the small door. What do I do? Do I have to go throw No Man's Warf?

    Moar Sinners

    Posted: 14 Dec 2020 10:05 PM PST

    Hi :)

Im a sinner. You wanna be a sinner too? It's lots of fun, and we need more sinners. How're we gonna use blue eye orbs if there arent any sinners? You can use blue eye orbs even if youre a sinner, you think about that?

Perks of being a sinner: You get invaded by blue eye orb phantoms :) There are probably others but thats the real perk

please join me and we may be sinners together. Because only together may we change Drangleic to a better place

What is the community's take on common criticisms about Dark Souls 2?

    Posted: 15 Dec 2020 07:29 AM PST

Demon's Souls is one of my favorite games ever and I really loved Dark Souls. I have recently started Dark Souls 2 and joined this subreddit. Of course like every subreddit, most people here love this game and that's alright but I was wondering about what people's opinion is about the most common criticisms aimed at the game, to be more specific: enemy placement, hitbox issues, game throwing multiple enemies at you, game abandoning "difficult but fair" philosophy in favour of cheap difficulty.

I see many "Dark Souls 2 is my favorite game in the series" posts here. I know Dark Souls 2 has its own strengths such as power stance, fun builds etc. and that is not what I'm asking about. Do you agree with the general criticisms or do you have a different view?

    Weapon's choice for NG+

    Posted: 15 Dec 2020 12:31 PM PST

Quick rant here since I need to speak up:_________________________________________________________________
I was pretty much horryfied at my perspectives in NG+ when my ass was handed to me right in Forest of Giants by two red phantoms which had BOSS amounts of health and poise so even my powerstanced grand lances couldn't interrupt their attacks. I eventually managed to beat them but when I imagined that the whole game would be like this I couldn't help but suppose that I'm definitely doing something wrong because it shouldn't be like this, it couldn't be designed THIS bad.

I tried total respec into faith caster build since most enemies and bosses are weak to lightning. 75 attunement, 50 faith, +5 light. dragon chime, sun ring - all by the book. And I still needed two or even three lightning spears for the most basic enemy in the area.

I don't get it. Am I doing something wrong or is that shit - when I need to dance around the most common and basic enemies with my 200SL character - by design?_______________________________________

The most important matter is: I'm still willing to beat NG+ and I need an idea for a weapon.

No, not a weapon. THE weapon. The. Fucking. Weapon.

Something to overcome some of the most absurd health pools I've ever seen in games. To break the poise of red phantoms which I guess I'll encounter in enourmous amounts.

Something mean and evil so they would run away from me like bitches instead! (I know they're not programmed to do so but I wanted to say something cheesy)

I have the last soul vessel in my pocket to give a try to some other build so feel free to share your ideas of a character in general.

Question about buffs and motion values

    Posted: 15 Dec 2020 12:11 PM PST

In the DS2 damage calculations, does anyone know when a buff like Dark Weapon or Crystal Magic Weapon gets applied? Does it get added to the attack rating before defense reduction (similar to RoB and Flynn's for physical damage), and does it get multiplied by the weapon's motion value?

I think Demon’s Souls inspired a bunch of people to play whatever Souls game they hadn’t played/played the least of

    Posted: 14 Dec 2020 11:38 PM PST

Because that's what it did for me and I have to say... Cardinal Tower bonfire is popping. Not sure if DSR, 3 and BB are on fire too but DS2 seems very active today.
