hey! i drew ornstein yesterday. his armor is beautiful, but extremely complicated. I've wanted to draw him for a while now, but I've just been too intimidated beyond belief. i finally took the time to just... look at it, and try to understand the overlaying plates. it's a lil messy, so there's that

    hope ya like!

My Taurus Demon guide with 100% success rate

    Posted: 26 Sep 2020 04:33 AM PDT

Just fought the Taurus Demon for the first time and discovered this little strategy.

    1. Charge at him with a single Estus Flask charge.
    2. Get horribly wrecked but somehow don't die.
    3. Realise there're archers behind you.
    4. Run away to deal with the archers.
    5. Get told you've won.

    Hope this helps.

This game is now my crack

    Posted: 26 Sep 2020 03:54 PM PDT

When I'm not playing the game I'm thinking about playing it and it was waking me up last night thinking about it. I may have to give myself limits because I'm finishing a master's degree and working full time.

    First time beating O&S

    Posted: 26 Sep 2020 07:52 PM PDT

I beat O&S for the first time ever recently. I yelled with joy for the hevens but was disappointed it only took me maybe 5 tries. After seeing everyone's plight for years beating them felt good but dirty in a way. Right after i felt so cheated i decided that Pricilla would be a good next fight to satisfy my blood just but i killed her first damn try! Its not like I'm good at the game maybe just lucky?

I think I might need help...

    Posted: 26 Sep 2020 05:08 PM PDT

Playing Dark Souls Remastered for a few weeks now, and viscerally hating every single second of it. I'm a huge FromSoft fan ever since I played the game for the first time many years ago, but GOD, did I forgot how painfully frustrating this one can be!

BUT, since I don't have a habit of giving up, I can't quit until I've completed every single part of it, and done everything that can be done. That, obviously include finishing it way too many times with as many characters as there are builds. Which brings us to todays pain in the buttocks.

    Mother.

    Flopping.

    Artorias.

My first character to get to him is my full dex, mostly bow build, and right now I want to kill myself. Obviously, I'm not even trying to beat him with a bow, instead I'm relying on my trusted and usually quite efficient Iato +10. But after now 31 vain attempts, I've never even managed to take 10% of his life. I need help. Now. Or else I think I might actually go hollow, but not only in the game...

Edit: Updating the number of deaths...

Edit 2: I FUCKING DID IT!!!!!!!! IT TOOK ME 32 FUCKING TRY BUT I DID IT!!!!!! FUCK YOU ARTORIAS, YOU FUCKING PIECE OF SHIT!!!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!! I DID IT!!!!

It’s my first run, and I completed Blighttown through the Valley of Drakes entrance. Is it worth running through the other half of it that’s accessed through Depths?

Just beat the game again after a few years, the Gwyn fight.....

    Posted: 26 Sep 2020 10:23 PM PDT

I forgot just how embarrassingly easy Gwyn is if you parry the guy. I did the fight in front of some friends who had never played Dark Souls before and they definitely now have the wrong impression of the game's difficulty. Especially since I went pure strength build with a +15 zwei.

But really this playthrough has been so great. I'm at a really transitional point in my life right now so it was refreshing to come back to a game I love. I was surprised at how much I had forgotten. For some bosses it was almost like fighting them for the first time again. Might have to go through NG+...

I feel dumb but I don't understand bosses and dying.

    Posted: 27 Sep 2020 12:15 AM PDT

I walked into the O/S boss room on my second attempt at them and died in like 2 seconds before I could even a) get my bloodstain or b) see where the hell the attack was coming from.

So, am I just stupid and they're that fast, or do the bosses not reset position when you die to them? I thought they would be back at the other end of the room where they started but it was like I walked in and Orstein was already right there at the fog gate ready to skewer me.

I know some people think they're the hardest boss fight in the game, and I think I understand why now but I was doing really well the first time, only to die like an idiot because Orstein was either the quickest guy on the planet or already waiting for me.

Did I do something wrong? Is there a bug there? I can Git Gud but I want to know if I'm going to keep getting skewered the moment I enter the gate or if there's some way to force them to reset their position back to the other end of the room so I can at least figure out where they are before dying?

If it helps, I'm playing DSR on the Switch

    I GOT THE DARK SOUL!!!

    Posted: 26 Sep 2020 10:59 PM PDT

I have finally, after around 100 hours of gameplay and three playthroughs, gotten the Dark Soul achievement. This is my first soulslike game besides Bloodborne, but I quit that at Vicar Amelia, and it was an amazing experience playing through and fully completing this game.

Help don't understand my damage output

    Posted: 27 Sep 2020 03:10 AM PDT

Does anyone know why my +5 astora straight sword is doing pathetic damage to ornstein and smough? My AR is 314 but I'm only doing 56 damage to ornstein and smough. My stats are 22 VIT, 20 END, 28 STR, 25 FAITH. This low damage output also stays consistent on silver knights and stuff but my crit attacks like ripostes are doing 421 damage. Any help would be appreciated!

    I just summoned Solaire twice

    Posted: 26 Sep 2020 08:18 PM PDT

So I was on my way to fight bell gargoyles on NG+. So I was heading up, nice and normal. But when I got to the fog gate I noticed something. There was two golden sunlight signatures. I figured, it's probably just Solaire and a player with their sign down. But no when I when to summon them it was both Solaire. It could have been a cosplayer but I doubt it because he was moving the way that dark souls AI would. Has this ever happened to anyone else?

    I did it!

Game over, all bosses dead (Someone please help me bill Artorius and Kalameet for $140 as I'm now down 2 PS4 controllers.)

Ok, so let me say - I tried Dark Souls probably 6-7 years ago and never even left the Asylum. It just wasn't my cup of tea. I didn't like the stamina system and just never gave it a fair shot. Fast forward to about 3 weeks ago. I was so bored, having just finished GoT Platinum Trophy and was looking for another time-consuming game to drown myself in. I've always enjoyed watching people speed run the Souls games so I said fuck it and picked up DS: Remastered on Amazon for $20.

A buddy of mine offered to co-op the game with me but explained we couldn't play together until I beat the second boss. This was the incentive I needed to get going. My buddy and I ended up playing one time together (Gargoyles.) By that point though, I was hooked. Fast forward 3 weeks -> I just finished up Manus and Gwyn today and god I'm just blown away.

This game was an absolute masterpiece. Of all the games I've played in recent memory, this is likely the only one that will get a second playthrough (I'm looking at you NG+.)

To be fair, I way overleveled and things were a bit easy toward the end (level 103 after the first playthrough.) Don't care, I had a lot of fun grinding out souls to use weapons that I really liked.

The feeling I got playing through most of this game was very similar to what I used to feel during competitive mythic raiding in WoW back in the day. The feeling of figuring out the timings and the "puzzle" of each boss was incredibly rewarding. Artorius and Kalameet both got some legit nerd screams out of me after ~many~ low HP failed attempts. Manus and Gwyn ended up falling over for me in the end, but that was mostly due to weapons and overleveling.

I'm already downloading Bloodbourne and looking forward to tackle that next.

Awesome game. Really just needed to share this with someone.

Would like some advice for something interesting to do for a new run or for pvp

    Posted: 26 Sep 2020 08:32 PM PDT

In quarantine I've been playing alot of DSR trying out different focused builds such as sorcerer's, clerics and DeX builds, but I've been growing bored with these simple builds and the PvP of the game and want to try out something relatively more interesting that isnt also incredibly difficult to achieve (such as a build with the moonlight)

    Dark souls newb

    Posted: 26 Sep 2020 02:55 PM PDT

So I just started dark souls remastered on the switch about 4 days ago (well 4 days of playing anyway) and I've been struggling with getting used to it cos I'm a skyrim gal at heart.

However, I just defeated the gaping dragon on my own, first try in about 10 minutes and I was so overwhelmed with pride that I wanted to share this... But then Blighttown happened and it took me dying around 10 times and half an hour in total to reach the first bonfire... My pride is crushed and my spirit is dead.

I don't suppose anyone has any protips for someone who suffers from gamers rage for getting through this without wanting to throw in the towel?

    Early soul farming?

    Posted: 27 Sep 2020 03:51 AM PDT

I've beaten the gaping dragon and can go down to blight town but I want some souls to level up some stats. The only soul farming spot I've used is the dragon bridge but it takes a while and was wondering if there is a more easier farm spot. I have opened the door in the dark root gardens with the crest you buy with the black smith but the human npc's there are pretty hard. I do not have the master key.

I know I should be nice to noobs, but some people are SO STUPID.

    Posted: 27 Sep 2020 03:26 AM PDT

On switch playing remastered, camped out as a summon for O&S. I have had countless summons die to the boss by not seperating them, but thats to be expected.

A couple died trying to fight invaders before the fog gate. Also to be expected, but pretty annoying they don't just go in.

Then there's Goldenbowl. I'm sorry if you're reading this bro, but you need to check your priorities. 3 times in a row, you die trying to clear out giants or an invader. I even changed my name to display as GO FOGGATE hoping I could smash it into your brain one way or another.

4th summon. We kill an immediate invader. We get to main hall. Same guy invades. I charge to fog gate, and invader fortunately spawned back by the bonfire. Goldenbowl... runs to fight a giant so he can open the gate. Dies to a single backstab from the invader.

Some people just cannot be helped apparently.

My return to dark souls 1.

    Posted: 26 Sep 2020 08:18 PM PDT

For years, I've always been interested in the dark souls trilogy. 2 months ago, I got the entire trilogy on a great deal. I started with dark souls 1, played through it, Platinumed it, and left for dark souls 2. I very much enjoyed playing through dark souls 2 and only since yesterday did I actually beat it. Now all I have to do is Platinum it and move on to dark souls 3. However, when I thought about the grind for dark souls 1 and all those achievements, I felt a little unmotivated knowing that there might be some heavy grinding. Thinking about dark souls 1, however, made me want to play through it again. At first I tried resisting it, as I still haven't even played through the entire trilogy yet, but eventually I couldn't resist anymore and came back to dark souls 1.

I was a melee build for both ds 1 and 2, so I decided to play as a pyromancer, having both melee but also fire power. I had fun, than got frustrated fighting the capra demon all over again thinking about how terrible this boss is. After an hour, I finally beat him, freed the guy that can upgrade my pyromancy, and bought a bunch of pyromancy stuff. Now I'm just going around killing enemies that already die in one hit from my sword, but with my pyromancy, I haven't even gone to the depths yet, I'm just having fun trying out all these magic abilities. It's crazy how even after the super huge burnout from getting the rare weapon's achievement, I can still come back to this game and play it like I never played it before.

    Similar to Souls Switch Games?

    Posted: 26 Sep 2020 08:17 PM PDT

I'm about to beat this a 4th time. Two did characters.

I need a new game. Beat Witcher 3 and BOTW already.

Very little to do with quarantine. What's a good next 100 hour game? Action RPG preferred!

Thank you all in advance :)

    Fire Knight Build

    Posted: 26 Sep 2020 02:48 PM PDT

So, I am new to the whole Dark Souls game, and I wanted to try a hand at a build that I have been thinking of doing for PvE and PvP, so I am going to need advice on what I should do and should not do with my build. For anyone wondering, I am doing this on Console, Switch, specifically.

My build utilizes the Knight Class as its starting class, with a Fire Bastard Sword, Pyromancy, a Crystal Dragon Crest Shield if I cannot get the Black Knight Shield, and the Dragonslayer Greatbow. The armor I will be using is the Elite Knight set without the helm, as I feel as it would add unnecessary weight to an already bulky build (that and I like to see the face and hair of my character. Basically Fashion Souls). I will be using the Wolf Ring, to make up for the lost poise from not having the Helm, and the Ring of Favor and Protection, as I will be needing the extra health, stamina, and equip load. The spells I will be using are Fire Orb, Great Fireball, Fire Surge, Black Flame, Fire Tempest, Power Within, Iron Flesh, and Toxic Mist.

Statwise, I am going to be using the generic 50 Vitality and 40 Endurance, Strength, and Dexterity, with 30 Faith and 35 Attunement, thus my Soul Level will be at 173. The Items I will be using will be the Estus Flask, the Black Firebombs, the talisman thingies that cancel out Estus Flasks (Which will be changed to regular Firebombs when not in PvP), Toxic Throwing Knives, and a last item that I would like advice on. My chosen arenas are still up for debate, but I have a feeling it will be the Kiln of the First Flame or the Painted World.

And as I have said multiple times, I would like some advice on some things, as I am still new to this game and the PvP and PvE communities.
