Patches is a character that has existed since 2001. Posted: 18 Sep 2020 02:46 PM PDT Alright, so as you may know Patches already exists across multiple games, and I think I found him in another game entirely. A mainline Nintendo franchise even. I was watching Vinesauce's stream of Zelda: Oracle of Ages (always recommended, Vinny is an entertaining dude) when I noticed that Link encounters a character underneath Symmetry City called Patch, who repairs the Tuni Nut and later the Noble Sword. When you encounter Patch you have to compete a minigame where Link needs to stand on top of a button while a bunch of enemies try to push Link off. The special thing about this Patch character is that he keeps talking about his repairing ceremony as "...my trap... errr, ceremony...". Now does that not exactly sound like our beloved trickster? I like to believe that this likeness is too much to be just a coincidence. I searched online just to be sure about my hunch, and I found a man named Yoshiyuki Ikeda who worked on both Ooa and Dark souls as the product manager. My theory is that he had some hand in desinging the characters and I personally believe that Patch, this character that we now all know and love (or hate), has had his start in a Gameboy Color game from Capcom. Any thoughts on this? Has anyone else found this as well or am I jumping to random conclusions here? [link] [comments] |
Does anyone find pure relaxation from simply playing the game? Posted: 19 Sep 2020 12:47 AM PDT I know this has been asked before, but I see that sometimes that discussion is geared towards doing something relaxing in the game (i.e. sitting in a bonfire and observing the world). But what I'd love to know is if playing the game regularly, as in, fighting and progressing through the game itself is relaxing. I know it is to me. I never get frustrated for dying, and replaying never feels like a chore, but rather a calming excersise. As if it were some sort of weird yoga. Does anyone feel like this? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 18 Sep 2020 09:16 AM PDT Hello guys, wanted to post my dot fan art but I cant. Any idea why? Here it is by the way. Capra demon is great, he has two good boyes. https://www.instagram.com/p/CFSLiFyAs9f/?igshid=m4d4xee675d2 [link] [comments] |
I want to start playing Dark Souls Posted: 18 Sep 2020 05:17 PM PDT I've never played any dark souls game because I was never interested in those types of games but for some reason I became I really fascinated and excited. which one is the best game? And do I have to play all 3 in order? [link] [comments] |
who are the two humans that are outside of O&S room once anor londo goes dark? Posted: 19 Sep 2020 01:31 AM PDT |
The second half: What's your opinion? Posted: 18 Sep 2020 05:04 PM PDT I personally loved the infamous second half of the game; i found every area to be beautiful, unique and immersive, albeit blindingly frustrating. By second half, i refer to the post-Lordvessel portion of the game: Duke's/Crystal, Catacombs/Tomb, New Londo, Demon Ruins/Izalith, Kiln. The DLC i consider seperate, and I think pretty much everyone liked it. I will agree that the design of Izalith is downright bizarre, and feels unfinished, but i feel like the continuation of Siegmeyer and Solaire's quests made it memorable still. BoC is weird, but hey it's something different, even if it's a dumb gimmick boss. What i like about Catacombs and Tomb is that they force you to enhance your weapon, or use a different one, to get through. You dont HAVE to, but your life will suck significantly more if you dont. New Londo turns the bleak atmosphere up to 10, and i really felt kinda freaked out mucking my way through there. Put me on edge, which was actually pretty cool. Undead Crypt in DS2 made me feel a similar vibe. Duke's is just fucking awesome. Escaping imprisonment and taking revenge on Seath is cool as hell, and how freaky is it when they release those serpent things? Channelers are a pain in the ass of course, but such is Dark Souls. And Kiln is fantastic. It subverts all your expectations and leaves you almost bewildered, despite your victory. The environmental storytelling is beautiful, i really loved this part. So that's my reasoning. I agree that there are some weird spots, but i truly loved this game from beginning to end. What do y'all think? Agree or disagree? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 19 Sep 2020 12:19 AM PDT To say that I suck at this game is an understatement. Somehow I managed to kill the Gargoyles, Capra, and the Gaping demon, but the black knight still kick my ass. So, after Crestfallen mentioned that he saw the crow take someone back, I tried to figure out how I could get my way back to the Asylum. I had to look at a guide because honestly- how the hell could anyone have figured this out accidentally?? I arrived back at the Asylum and it seems to be more dangerous. I fell through the floor and that Asylum demon's big bro totally kicked my ass. I decided not to mess with him either because I suck or don't have a good enough weapon, so I decided to visit the roof. Holy crap. That black knight must have killed me like 10-15 times. I decided to try to fight him in a bigger area to backstab him, managed to get him 1/2 way down when we both fell through the floor. Well, crap. Funny thing about it- Demon#2 killed BOTH of us. And that stupid trolling black knight doesn't respawn. So- tip for the newbies like me. If you for some reason are having trouble with that black knight, bait him into the area where you fought the origin Asylum demon and let him kill you both. Dirty, I know, but these enemies are just as dirty and they deserve it! [link] [comments] |
Is the basic greatsword that is found from the corpse near the painting in anor londo any good? Posted: 19 Sep 2020 02:51 AM PDT It deals only 130 damage (if no upgrades) while black knight's sword deals 220 damage and black knight sword still weighs less than normal GS. Any pros and cons compared to black knight sword? [link] [comments] |
Ranking the dark souls boss difficulty Posted: 18 Sep 2020 08:34 PM PDT Here I am ranking all the DS bosses from hardest to easiest. Also an honorable mention to the anor londo archers and gravity which killed way more players than any boss in the game and gravity is your enemy

Rant on the torch hollows stupid damage. Posted: 19 Sep 2020 01:07 AM PDT So i went to depths for the first time, seemed funny and stuff, killed rats and big rat with ease, cleared out some blobs from the ceiling, then i see this torch hollow and i think: he shouldnt be that dangerous its only a torch, right? Then he rushes at me, i didnt mind it since basic hollows barely do any much damage and just went at him, then i just die in the next second he hits me and be like "WTF LOL", his attacks still deal damage even if you block, his rushing attack deals stupidly enormous damage (same goes for engorged hollows with torches except its even more braindead), and your only escape is roll away then attack. If you are a tanky person and you meet this pack of torch hollows and you dont get away within a moment and they surround/corner you, then you are dead. [link] [comments] |
I think i screwed up my first playthrough Posted: 19 Sep 2020 01:01 AM PDT I think i might have acrewed the first playthrough, what i did is instead of going to blighttown and the dephts straight after getting the key from undead parish i continued with the path to the darkroot area, and killed the hydra, sif and everything else there is to do there. Then i went to the catacombs and cleared everything in there, all the way to tomb of the giants, only to realize that i cant continue because there is a fog gate i cant pass untill i kill some boss i think. How bad did i screw up and is it possible to fix it? [link] [comments] |
Siegward of the Catarina Knights 1/6 scale statue information request. Posted: 19 Sep 2020 04:19 AM PDT I was just wondering if anyone has any information on the Siegward of the Catarina Knights 1/6 scale statue that is available on eBay. I am unable to find any information regarding who made it, or any listings outside of the eBay ones, which are all from China. The listings do imply that their were two different versions, the ones listed being referred to as the silver version. I am also assuming that the silver version didn't include the sword and shield as the eBay listings state that they are not included, but that is speculation on my part. I am well aware of the Siegmeyer 1/6 statue by Gecco, but this one has a completely unique sculpt, as he is sitting cross legged rather than standing. It would go extremely well with the 1/6 scale bonfire statue that was released, but I don't want to fork out such a large chunk of money for some cheap bootleg quality knockoff. Any information would be extremely helpful. Thanks. [link] [comments] |

DS:R DoA mod installation question Posted: 19 Sep 2020 03:56 AM PDT So I hope it's fine to ask this here but I'm trying to play DS:R with the DoA mod on PC with an unofficial installation of the game (from FitGirl). I already have the original on PC and Remastered on PS4 so I didn't want to buy the game a 3rd time for this. The DoA installer says my exe is unrecognized and it should be named "DarkSoulsRemastered" which it is, so I'm wondering if anyone else here has any knowledge of whether it's possible to play with mods on a copy obtain by less than legal means? Otherwise I guess I'll just drop it but it would've been cool to get a chance to play DS:R with mods without buying it again. [link] [comments] |
Can someone explain to me how co op works in Dark Souls Remastered? Posted: 19 Sep 2020 02:57 AM PDT I have beaten the game once and I havent defeated Gwyn yet in New Game 2 so I dont get to new game 3. I want to play finish the whole game with a friend. Is that possible? Previously when we played I gave a shit ton of Embers to him so he never runs out. Is there a way to do that with whichever item is needed to summon someone in ds1 remastered? Also does SL or weapon level or shield level matter when you have a password set or does everything scale like it did in bloodborbe and ds3 (not sure bout ds2). I would really appreciate it if someone could answer my questions though I already know how kind and nice this community is. [link] [comments] |
So I need help on the final boss (DS1 Xbox 360) Posted: 18 Sep 2020 08:11 PM PDT Here's the deal, ds1 is one of my favorite games of all time and right now doing a challenge run where I use no shields (I'm using the dark hand on Gwyn just so that I can parry him) And I use no body armor, the thing is, I hate Gwyn, I'm not very good at parrying AND I accidentally killed andre, AND, just to make it worse, Im helping Kathe so I can't even have Frampt crush up my titanite chunks to make titanite shards so I can't even go to a different blacksmith to upgrade my Zwei. I don't need advice, I've beaten the game before, I need someone to please just leave a summoning sign and tell me where in the comments Also, Mega Ultra bonus points if you leave some large titanite shards. Please, I just want to beat the game again. I already dealt with Gwyn's bullcrap on my last run, I don't want to deal with it again [link] [comments] |
Posted: 19 Sep 2020 01:46 AM PDT So I just started playing ds1 remastered on pc and got to the carpa demon boss and have given up. It just feels too clunky. My sword keeps hitting walls, the poison status is ridiculous, Trying to run back to a boss is too hard when enemies just block your path and you can't roll passed them and it seems to take forever to drink from the Estus... All in all it just doesn't feel right. I'm thinking maybe the next two games have rectified some of the issues. What do you guys think ? I've only played Bloodborne and sekiro so I've got nothing else to go on. I'm not saying the game is too hard but I feel like I'm fighting the mechanics of the game more than I'd like... Posted: 18 Sep 2020 06:48 PM PDT Who else has died from the lava in Lost Izalith just outside the bonfire near Bed of Chaos ...because you respawned there from being swiped down into the abyss by the Bed of Chaos' hand ... for the 12th time ... and forgot to put back the orange charred ring, this one time Goodbye Souls. Just beat Ornstein and Smough for the first time! Posted: 18 Sep 2020 08:39 PM PDT I have played DS3 and Bloodborne but I just started playing DS1R and I had heard legends of these tyrants. After a few tries I beat them!! I can understand the hype, that was an amazing experience. [link] [comments] |
[Stupid Question] Where do you get this freakin' face mask?? Posted: 19 Sep 2020 12:25 AM PDT Crappy screenshot of player wearing face mask I looked through the list of helms on the wiki like 10 times. I'm going crazy. What is this, how do you get this? Help much appreciated! [link] [comments] |
I finally platinumed a soulsborne game - at about 2:30 AM yesterday morning. Here are my thoughts. Posted: 18 Sep 2020 09:44 AM PDT So, I've played these games lots, and I'm one of those who never finishes the games. Eventually - really, inevitably - I would hit a wall I could not scale. I was determined to make it happen this time. In fact, I set myself a goal: to platinum DSR, DS2, DS3, and Bloodborne, before I'm allowing myself to buy a PS5. I was sick and tired of playing all of these games (from the PS3's Demon's Souls onwards) and never finishing them (except Bloodborne, which I have completed but not platinumed). So, first off, I had a lucky break: I got the Knight's Honor trophy without having to kill Sif three times. I honestly don't understand how this happened. My first runthrough, I made the true Greatsword of Artorias, the second time, I made the Greatshield. I got the trophy prior to starting my NG++ run, and I don't know exactly why or how, as that the guides online all state that you have to kill Sif three times, and that the cursed greatsword must be made. I never made the cursed greatsword. However, on my first run, I did kill all bosses in the game, including Artorias and Manus, and perhaps using those boss souls for unique items still managed to trigger the trophy. I did not receive any items via online play (other than being invaded once in a while and the ring of fog invasions I did, I didn't play online at all - the trophies requiring ranks in covenants were obtained via farming the items from enemies like the basilisks, maggots, and harpies). Because I got the Knight's Honor trophy in my first NG+, all I had to do in NG++ was turn in Gwyn's soul for my final trophy - Prayer of a Maiden. Other than the asylum demon, I didn't have to fight any bosses to do this (I was already at +1 in that covenant, that was the last covenant I worked on because I wanted to make my platinum run as easy as possible). My first playthrough took me about two months. I started out with the much beloved Cleric Knight PVE build, and honestly, I don't think it's very good. About two or three weeks in I was getting so frustrated that I decide to start again with a new character - I did a uchi-centered build with the Wanderer. I recommend this build to all new players, it's much easier for PVE. Start with the Wanderer, which has honestly good enough armor that I was using it except in certain situations throughout the game. Kill the merchant in undead burg for his uchi, and don't put any points into anything but DEX until it's at 40 - and then do VIT and END equally until they're at 40 as well. That's honestly enough to get through the game, but I farmed a LOT of souls, generally just while sitting around in WebEx or Zoom meetings. I'd just go to the painted world and farm the phalanx. This method is very fast - I was averaging about 24k souls per minute (used ring of fog to not aggro two of the hollows to make the runs smoother, silver covetous ring and symbol of avarice for the souls, and otherwise nude). I'd run up to the phalanx and hit them with a strong pyromancy - my favorite after I got it was fire tempest. Most of the time it would kill all but one or two, which I would kill with the uchi, and then cast the homeward miracle to quickly reset the run. This averaged about 28 seconds and a little above 12k souls per run. So... at the end, I was at SL 195. I got faith and strength to 50 this way. But they weren't necessary, I was still running a dex build with light armor the whole way through (except Artorias, who I had to switch to Havel's Set to beat). My NG+ run was way, way easier than my first run. This surprised me. I had gotten all the tail weapons and other necessary drops in the my original run, so basically I just had to get some boss souls and make them into weapons. Other than picking up an ember to get some weapons up to +10 for ascension, there wasn't really any items I needed (I had more than enough shards from my original run). Plus, I knew my way around the game very well and had the master key now, so I was able to skip quite a few bosses. I finished New Game plus in five or six hours, give or take. The only boss I died to was Gwyn, and that was only twice (really, it was just that it was about 2 AM and I was impatient). This was my first soulsborne game which I've platinumed, and my first souls game to finish. While playing, I developed a bit of a head cannon regarding hollows: they are actually other players who gave up and never finished the game. Losing hope turned them, and now they roam, mindlessly, as that the players who controlled them have given up and moved on - but they can never die, so instead they are cursed to that existence. I know, that's not the lore, but coming from someone who has played all these games and never finished them, it's how I felt. I've now moved on to DS2. And, in the continuing style of someone who's good but not great at these games, and a little bit OCD about collecting everything, I'm sure it will take a month or two as well. I strongly recommend that anyone who wants to finally beat these games watch a few videos online about parrying, and do a primarily dex build. It was immensely easier this way. [link] [comments] |
95 Hours In - Thoughts and Reflections Posted: 18 Sep 2020 12:44 PM PDT Prior to downloading DSR for the Switch, I had never played a Soulslike game. I gave it a try for a couple hours and decided it was too hard for me. Probably the most difficult game I'd pursued till then was Celeste, and it was finally getting good at that that made me want to revisit Dark Souls, combined with watching a video on the game design. As of today, I've now beaten the game twice and the DLC once, first as a generic warrior, and this time as a sorcerer to get a feel for each playstyle, and boy, did it make some areas so much easier/harder. My first complete run took 52 hours without the DLC. I struggled with a lot of the bosses, since I was trying to play mostly blind. Gaping dragon, Sif, and Nito were pushovers, gargoyles, O&S, and Gwyn handed my butt to me. My second clocked in at about 35 hours and I am just floored as to how much different of a game it was. O&S only took like 3 tries, Four Kings and Gwyn each took only one (followed the Solaire quest so I had him to try it), but on the flip side, Capra, Artorias, and Manus I had to leave for the night and try another day they gave me so much grief. This last run, I did every optional boss, and the DLC before Sif/four kings so I could get the alternate puppy scene for maximum tears, so by the time I hit four kings, a single crystal soul mass + spear took them out. It was a super underwhelming fight since it took me a couple hours my first time learning it. The game has so quickly risen to be one of my favorites, I'm glad I picked it back up! I'm also trying to decide if I should go for NG+, or try out a third playstyle (probably would be greatsword Knight unless y'all have better suggestions!) [link] [comments] |
