Can someone explain to me why Bearer of The Curse feels like the most badass of 3 protagonists? Posted: 24 Sep 2020 05:47 AM PDT Is it the swagger in his walk? The way he fights? The fashion? The way he cant roll around like a bitch? Is it because the story is about him.and not about the dying world around him? I know he may not be the strongest lore-wise but theres just a certain appeal I cant quite put my finger on about him. Chosen Undead feels like a self fulfilled prophecy of a heroic epic and Ashen One feels too edgy and flashy for my taste. Also I just found out Bearer of The Curse is the only protagonist with a theme to his name. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 23 Sep 2020 11:14 PM PDT Masterless Glencour doesn't have their sign down for the gargoyles boss fight. I'm human, I don't have the effigy effect active but I am in the bell keepers covenant. Any ideas what's causing this? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 24 Sep 2020 03:40 AM PDT Soul Vortex "One of the lost sorceries preserved only in the Undead Crypt. "Now, now, do not be afraid. Let us explore the limits of sorcery. " Said Carhillion in an encouraging tone, with a sliver of fatigue and possibly.. burdened. "The forces of magic, and souls, lie dormant in this land. Use scrolls to unleash the power of sorceries. The path is arduous, requiring commendable dilligence. "Sorcery and pyromancy thrive in Melfia. I've spent much time there, trying to perfect my art. A veiled truth is nothing short of a lie. "Sorcery was created long, long ago. "Once, Master Carhillion spoke excitedly of this land. "I sense a dark power here. Knowledge, power, control, the path of the unknown. It vexes us, it is sought insatiably. "Seek higher planes, young pupil." [link] [comments] |
PS4 SOTFS I need help with Bell Gargoyles NG+ Posted: 24 Sep 2020 11:57 AM PDT I'm a rather new DS2 player and I've wanted to obtain the gold serpent ring so I used the bonfire ascetic and they're super hard now alone. My soul memory is 742k, if anyone is available, please, I'll be very glad for your help! [link] [comments] |

Posted: 24 Sep 2020 04:31 AM PDT After going through the main story and all of the dlc I feel victorious! Had mixed feelings about the dlc maps, but I felt fulfilled after beating the bosses. And now I can wear some sexy ass crowns while keeping my sexy meat body. No more beef jerky from now on [link] [comments] |

Finally beat the fume knight. Now I know Posted: 24 Sep 2020 08:19 AM PDT I've seen people post their pride about beating this boss many times before and I was always wondering what made this one special. Well, now I know. The hardest boss so far for me. Harder than O&S. This guy took me a week and a half, two character respecs, and it was the first time that I was completely forced to put my shield on my back and just dodge everything. When I was finally victorious I screamed out like Rick Flair and scared the dog. Hugged my kids and sat back and revelled in my glory. Then immediately went on to get killed by Sir Allone, who I beat the next day. My personal choice was not to wear Vendrick's helm. I found the small sword easier to dodge and I could punish him more in the first half of the fight then play it safe for the second half. The ability to learn and try new tactics and the necessity to do so in the DS series is what keeps me coming back. I love it. Just a few more spells to collect and I'll be finished with DS2 and moving on to DS3. [link] [comments] |
My save file isn't on my xbox 360 anymore...? Posted: 24 Sep 2020 02:12 PM PDT Hello, so I played dark souls 2 SOTFS once and for about 4 or 5 hours, saved the game, turned the xbox off, and now it's just gone? Did I do something wrong? Am I tripping? The word annoyed isn't the word I'd use :D! EDIT: I was tripping, I feel absolutely mugged off lmao. [link] [comments] |

How do I beat Darklurker as a melee build? Posted: 24 Sep 2020 09:28 AM PDT I'm seriously struggling with this boss. I've beaten every boss in every other souls game (including sekiro and bloodborne and all DLC'S) and I'm starting to think this is one of the hardest bosses for me. I don't know why but I can't seem to figure this one out. I do fine until she splits into two, then it's just non-stop magic being thrown at me. I never feel a good opportunity to hit her without being punished severely. Any advice would be appreciated! [link] [comments] |

accidentally ate two of my giant souls Posted: 24 Sep 2020 12:49 PM PDT Vendrick... my boy. He's not hard... it's just taking a very very very very long time. I've gotten 1/4 of his health down but my moonlight Greatsword broke; at this point it's not even a boss it's just a grind. I'm challenging myself to beat every boss in dark souls 2, so far all I have left is Vendrick and the other two. (Technically frozen outskirts as well but that's what I'm doing tonight.) Can I summon for this boss? Do I even bother? Would you guys be mad at me if I beat every single boss except Vendrick because it's taking too long? [link] [comments] |
Just beat the blue smelter demon Posted: 24 Sep 2020 12:42 PM PDT Hardest boss so far. Harder than the Fume Knight I thought. I don't know how many attempted maybe 15-25. Maybe it's just the run to him which is also a pain in the backsideZ has to despawn the area a bit to be able to run to the boss. I really struggled with the timing of him. And I think him being able to do damage to you just by being near him is cheap. I got the timing for his standard 2 swing attack down fine. Same with his charge and thrust attack which was ok to dodge. But he has a stab attack which can catch you off guard and then the pause on the over head slash got me almost every time. So awkward it's like raises sword, pause, pause, then swing. You have to dodge on the downward swing. If you try to preempt it he'll get you. My magic mace was not much use with its range of a chop stick so I had to upgrade my Heide spear which did about 200 damage a hit. When I finally beat him I smashed him early on and got him down to half health quite quickly and he didn't activate his magic flame damage thing just went straight to the sword flame thing so that actually made it a lot easier. Not sure if that's a feature or if it glitches but that cheap arsehole deserved a kicking and that's what he got. [link] [comments] |
Did From finally patch the deadzone issue? Posted: 24 Sep 2020 02:30 AM PDT I first played SotFS a few years ago on PS4. I bought the game for PC recently. I don't have a physical PC, I use a cloud gaming service called Shadow (essentially, it's a Windows 10 powered gaming rig in the cloud). Anyway, I loaded up the game yesterday and to my delight the deadzone for the L stick is gone. I didn't install any 3rd party software or anything, this is the raw game file from Steam using an Xbox controller and I can finally walk normally again. The reason I mentioned my cloud setup is because my PC doesn't really detect my Xbox controller as such, but as a generic controller (so the home button doesn't respond). So, either this has something to do with it or From actually fucking patched the deadzone, finally. Anyone else have it working, as well? Would be awesome as this was my single greatest gripe with this game. TLDR: I just downloaded SotFS from Steam and the L stick has zero deadzone by default. 🤔 [link] [comments] |
Posted: 24 Sep 2020 07:55 AM PDT I found it a bit odd how where every item is described by a third party, the Darkdrift one is written in first person. Is it an oversight or is Agdayne describing the items? [link] [comments] |
fashion souls with alonne armour? Posted: 23 Sep 2020 10:32 PM PDT i love alonnes armour, specifically the helmet armour and greaves, but i cannot find anything to match the armour or the headpiece and actually look good, what would you guys reccomend? [link] [comments] |
What is your opinion about the Uchigatana? Posted: 24 Sep 2020 07:22 AM PDT It's a nice weapon. 1H R2 has a very long reach and the R1s can be easily spammed. High poise and scaling, the durability isn't bad. Now, is it just me or the 2H moveset has smaller hitboxes? It's the perfect secondary weapon for me. I would use it more if it did more damage than my Heide Spear when infused. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 24 Sep 2020 07:13 AM PDT Recently started playing through the Souls series again. I tore through DS1 with the "naked man with greatclub" build and I was hoping to go through the second game equally quickly if I can help it (not a lot of free time in my life right now). What would be a good option in terms of stats and weapons? [link] [comments] |
Going for 100% / DS2 covenants question Posted: 24 Sep 2020 06:39 AM PDT Hi all. I've 100%ed ds1 and ds3, just got ds2 and already know I'm gonna have to do it again here haha. When I played ds3 I randomly had blue sentinel equiped the whole time so I unwittingly ended up skipping the worst farming in the game: slicing ears of sliver knights. Without any spoilers, I wanna make sure I avoid the worst of late game farming in ds2 too. Is there a covenant I should have active the whole game? Just to make getting all sorceries/miracles etc easier? A little googling makes it seem like bell keeper covenant might be the one, and using sunbros at bosses. Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Understanding the endings (spoiler) Posted: 24 Sep 2020 10:03 AM PDT I think I have finally figured out the ending to Dark Souls 2. After defeating Aldia we are given the choice of taking the Throne of Want or abandoning it. Most people assume that this is choosing between lighting the first flame and letting it die out. However, in Dark Souls 3 we find out that Thrones are a vessel which allow for transportation to the Kiln of the First Flame. So my thinking is that we are making the choice to go to the Kiln or not. If we do then our character has the same choice as Dark Souls, light or kill the First Flame. However because Gwyn is already dead, due to Vendrick killing him as he was a Chosen Undead, there is no battle against him. If we decide to leave the Throne then we aren't killing the First Flame, we are letting someone else take up the burden and light it themselves. Also, once we go into NG+ the world resets. Obviously this is a gameplay mechanic but it can also be looked at in a lore sense. In Dark Souls, the Lord Vessel is used to hold the four powerful souls, Nito, The Witch of Izalith, Seath and The Four Kings, both of whom received a fragment of Gwyn's soul, making theirs a more powerful one. Well in Dark Souls 2, at the bottom of the mansion is a few broken pieces of the Lord Vessel. When we kill all four of the Great Ones, who contain within them the souls of Lords long forgotten, the Shrine of Winter opens. I believe that when we go into NG+, without a Lord Vessel to hold the Lord Souls, they get free and return to their residing area and vessel. [link] [comments] |
Should I play all the SOTFS DLC? Posted: 24 Sep 2020 10:02 AM PDT Just beat the main game yesterday, and have to say I was fairly underwhelmed. Finally got into the souls series this summer as I hadn't had the time, and was completely enamored w/ the first game, even through much of the less exciting second half. I was hyped to jump into dark souls 2, but from the start something felt sort of off to me? The combat felt different, maybe better to some, but didn't feel quite as weighty as DS1. There were some areas I absolutely adored (Drangleic Castle, The gutter, etc) but very few bosses I found particularly memorable. Difficulty somehow felt cheaper to me as well. Is the DLC more of the same? Not sure if I want to do it if it's just 20 more hours of crowd controlling enemies before a boss fight over and over again like parts of the main game felt to me. Thanks skeletons [link] [comments] |
