    My Dark Souls inspired sculpture!

This was a bday gift for my friend. I sculpted it from super sculpy firm, painted it with acrylics, and then used a sealer

After these pics I added a bit more blood to the broken sword + an estus flask

It's really interesting how different the experience is for everyone.

    Posted: 11 Aug 2020 01:48 PM PDT

I finished remastered a few days ago, it was a super fun experience, but when I went to the subreddit, I found people complaining about Manus/ Bed of Chaos/ Artorias/ Kalameet while I beat these guys first try with a +10 mace because I couldn't find the very large ember lol.

Meanwhile, it took me over 50 tries no joke to beat sif, and over 7 hours to beat the Capra Demon, which almost made me quit the game, and about 4 hours to figure out Gwyn.

I loved blighttown, and I think I only died once there, but Tomb of the giants on the other hand made question my sanity.

I also LOVED anor londo, how it starts as a beautiful illusion then the dark reality hits after Gwynevere/Gwyndolin, It also didn't take me many tries, while Duke's Archives kicked my ass for a whole week.

I also could EASILY dispatch all black knights with parrying except the dudes with a greatsword, till now I can't figure them out and just use a greatshield and pray for the best.

I started DS2 and I'm loving it (kicking my butt much much more than DS1 tho), and I regret not playing this franchise much earlier.

    Praise the sun!

A Drawing of Seath the Scaleless Based on my Friend's current Playthrough

Second drawing in the series! Black Iron Tarkus VS Garfield! Please tell me what you guys think and any critique

    I was lied to

    Posted: 11 Aug 2020 02:47 PM PDT

Literally everyone on the internet and even my friends who played dark souls say Gwyn's one of the easiest bosses in the game, I came into the boss room expecting to beat his ass but got absolutely ruined instead, that dude is aggressive as all hell, his attacks are super fast and deal huge damage even through Artorias' great shield, it took me a solid 20 tries to beat him, he is easily the 2nd hardest boss in the game for me, only second to the super smash bros. But hey, at least the final boss of my journey was a worthy one, to ng+ and beyond!

Note:I deliberately fought him without parrying because I heard it makes the fight a joke, but it doesn't matter anyways because I absolutely suck at parrying.

    When to turn human

    Posted: 12 Aug 2020 02:29 AM PDT

Hi everybody! I just started playing DS1 for the first time, and I was wondering if there is some kind of strategy for when to turn human?

    Thanks

Most bullshit part of the game?

    Posted: 12 Aug 2020 08:13 AM PDT

Which part of the game did you guys feel was the least fair? I think the game does a great job of being fair but sometimes it misses the mark. For me it was the Capra demon: I felt like this was just a crapshoot as to whether of not the rat would be in the way of the stairs, and after killing the rats the fight was trivial

Why does everyone I invade have a pet dragon?

    Posted: 11 Aug 2020 05:36 AM PDT

So I just got into invading and half the people I invade have this white dragon dude with them. All they do is stand next to the person I'm invading and use this shockwave that drains all my stamina if I get in close, I'm pure melee so I'm sure you can see how this is a problem. What is this and more importantly how do beat it?

    I feel like a god

    Posted: 11 Aug 2020 10:54 AM PDT

So after five long hours I finally beat Ornstein and Smough and I feel like the god of video games. Funny thing is, now that I've done it it feels like the fight was easy, funny what soulsbourne does to your mind :).

When I first picked up the game, I really wasn't sure if I'd like it, but this is easily becoming one of my favorite games of all time. So, to anyone on the fence of trying it, I command you to pick it up and try it. It could just become one of your favorites.

The Crescent Axe is a FANTASTIC early weapon for faith builds

    Posted: 11 Aug 2020 11:46 PM PDT

Starting different builds is my favorite part of this game and I had never tried the Crescent Axe until a few days ago. I feel like it's a strong contender for best early game weapon but people don't talk much about it when compared to the Great Scythe, the Gargoyle Halberd, the Zweihander or the Black Knight weapons. Some comments on its article on Fextralife even complain about how it's gotten too late in the game and how the stats requirements make it useless.

So how do we get it? Either buying it from Patches, which will indeed be late in the game, or by killing him, which can be done in the Catacombs as early as getting to Firelink Shrine (and before killing Pinwheel, as that'll move him to Tomb of the Giants).

What about the requirements? 18 Str, 12 Dex and 16 Fth. It is indeed steep when compared to something like the Claymore, but the Cleric starts with 12 Str, 8 Dex and 14 Fth, being able to two-hand it at SL8.

It counts as a divine weapon, has a B scaling in Faith AND it's upgraded with Twinkling Titanite - which is what makes it truly great, since you won't need embers and a ton of materials. Other twinkling titanite weapons either suck in the long run (Astora Straight Sword), are chance drops (Black Knight weapons, which also have bigger stat requirements and are much heavier) or obtained way later.

So you can start a game as cleric, with the master key, and just by getting the items in Firelink Shrine and on the shortcut through New Londo - Valley of the Drakes - Darkroot Basin - Undead Parish, and killing the easier enemies on the way (hollows, black knight, folliage), be at 12 Dex / 25 Fth, with the Astora Straight Sword and up to 6 twinkling titanite (2 from a crystal lizard and 4 can be traded from moss clump with Snuggly). With 25 Fth you can make a quick run to the Sunlight Altar to get the Lightning Spear, then open the shortcut back to Firelink Shrine. With the Astora Straight Sword and Lightning Spear you can easily make your way to Patches in the Catacombs, getting 4 more twinkling titanite from crystal lizards on the route, and get the Crescent Axe by backstabbing Patches to death. With all 10 twinkling titanite it's just a matter of going to Andre with 10,000 souls (either from Moonlight Butterfly or Pinwheel) to completely upgrade the axe.

Putting it into text makes it look like a lot of work but it's actually pretty quick and easy, I definitely recommend it for people who never tried the weapon or want to make a (close to) pure faith build.

I realized that the path i used to blighttown was a shortcut only on my 3rd playthrough

    Posted: 12 Aug 2020 05:47 AM PDT

I decided to not use any guide, but as i started to read keys descriptions i realized that i didn't explore the depths at all and after beating the gaping dragon easily i decided to try the normal path to the second bell, and i finally understood why so many people hated it

TIL the name "Ornstein" and the Leo ring are probably based on experimental pianist from early twentieth century: Leo Ornstein

    Posted: 11 Aug 2020 03:56 PM PDT

Just stumbled across this while studying music theory.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leo_Ornstein

His music was very dissonant and eerie, totally befitting the Dark Souls atmosphere if you ask me.

What kind of build should I try on my first run?

    Posted: 12 Aug 2020 07:32 AM PDT

So I started playing recently and every time I see my stats I am so confused don't know what each stat means I could look on YouTube but I was told to rather ask here and don't get any spoilers.

    DS1 DEATHLESS COMPLETED!!!

    Posted: 11 Aug 2020 09:43 AM PDT

Yes. You heard me right. I didn't dare go hollow.

The same person who got bent over by Gwyn a few days ago after going through the whole game without dying just bent him over.

O how the turn tables, you old fire sword wielding b*tch.

Thank you to everyone who encouraged me to continue attempting this challenge run! Now that it's over I'm so happy, while at the same time I know that DS1 Hitless is next and I definitely know that run will not be so forgiving...

Anybody else here a strict 2hander and No Balls hand parrier? Most exciting way to play IMOOOOOO

    Posted: 12 Aug 2020 08:22 AM PDT

I'm a 2 handed clay-boi and I parry whoever with my hand, if I feel like parrying. Sure, sometimes I get mutilated Skyrim Kill-Camera style, but who doesn't?

Are the previous two games necessary to understand Dark Souls 3?

    Posted: 11 Aug 2020 10:36 PM PDT

I have never played dark souls before and recently received the third game from a friend, and was wondering whether or not I should play the first two games beforehand. I have experience with Soulslikes so I know I would enjoy them, but it is quite the monetary investment. Will I need to play them in order to understand what's going on in the third game?

Bosses are EZ. Titanite Demon is BS!!!!!!

    Posted: 11 Aug 2020 08:25 PM PDT

First playthrough, I made it to Lost Izalith.

I did not find the bosses hard, I didn't struggle with any of them up to this point. I killed the centipede demon first try. Most of the bosses are dead from the first or second try. Previous games are BB and DS3.

But the Titanite Demon !!! Holy fucking hell I can't kill that fucking shoe sole looking shithead! Holy crap and I didn't kill many of them either ! Just a few, I bypassed many yet I can't kill them at all. I'm just gonna run across the bridge from that bastard. Killed me 20 times on the bridge.
