Just beat Artorias with no shield.

    Posted: 14 Aug 2020 05:10 PM PDT

I know, I know. In this community that is not objectively impressive. But, I've always relied on shields, and have never considered myself to be very effective at dodging and rolling. But tonight, on my most recent playthrough, I finally beat Artorias without using a shield at all. I was level 63, only had 5 estus, and was using the Greatsword +15. It's my personal best. It's nowhere near a no hit run, but my high mark.

Thanks for the immense support on the DS Super Famicom Art!!
Here are two other fan arts I did. They are not the same style as the other one and much less detailed...you've been warned!

Both can be downloaded and used for wallpapers.

The time where Basilisks legit made me have the urge to break my TV and controller.

    Posted: 15 Aug 2020 01:20 AM PDT

So I was travelling through the depths, and I encountered a bunch of Basilisks, I'm a new player (DS remastered), so I had NO idea what they do, so they shoot this powder at me and got cursed, since it's my first playthrough, I didn't mind it, it took my literally a day to gather 6000 souls to buy the purging stone, eventually I bought it from the undead merchant, I went down the depths and encountered the Basilisks again, I was EXTREMELY cautious this time, all of the sudden, my claymore was at risk of breaking, which means it didn't deliver one shot kills, this resulted in being cursed again....... needless to say, I cried for 30 minutes and had to hold the urge to destroy the TV and controller.

I have played more than 200 hours on switch

    Posted: 14 Aug 2020 09:38 PM PDT

I have never played dark souls before, I love this game.

I was annoyed at playing online because you can not put the switch to sleep, it kicks you out, so it was more convenient to play offline, I play mostly hand held, I have beaten the game 4 times trying different clases.

Two days ago I started playing online, it's crazy, I killed snorlax and the other guy along with two summons, somebody else helped me kill queelag earlier, it's great, oh and today assfinger III invaded me an killed me. I don't know, I'm drunk right now, amazing game, amazing community. Cheers.

EDIT: I said queelana instead of queelag

Enjoying Dark Souls in its entirety

    Posted: 14 Aug 2020 07:20 PM PDT

Siegmeyer and Solaire are people who cheer me up in this game, so I saved some souls for this occasion. They always gave me hope in this great but deep and sad game. ❤️

Need help with the final four bosses please!

    Posted: 15 Aug 2020 03:24 AM PDT

Hey everyone, So I recently got Dark Souls Remastered for the switch. This is my first time playing it through up until now (in the past I think I got up to the Taurus demon or gargoyles and rage quit). Anyway, my character is a level 68 sorcerer. Stat's are as follows: Vit: 30 Att: 19 End: 8 Str: 10 Dex: 12 Res: 8 Int: 50 Faith: 10

My current armour set is the Channelers set. I was wondering if anyone would be willing to help me fight the last few bosses? I'm really struggling, especially with Seath. Any help/comments/advice is greatly appreciated! Praise the sun! 😊☀️ P. S. I also have a +10 Shortsword that does barely a thing.

Why does everyone recommend the zweihander?

    Posted: 14 Aug 2020 02:22 PM PDT

I've beaten DS1 many times, but somehow never used the zweihander once. I was curious since I always see people praise it and recommend it to new players, so I finally tried it out.

    It was not easy!

In my opinion pretty much the only benefit of the zweihander is that it takes out most mobs in only a couple hits and from outside of their range, but the real challenge in Dark Souls is the bosses, not the mobs! And while extra damage against a boss is nice since it shortens the fight, the painfully slow attacks easily outweigh that benefit and make the zweihander a net negative.

I'm at the point where Artorias, Manus, and Kalameet usually aren't too difficult for me but I was really, really struggling with the zweihander. You get so few opportunities for safe attacks due to the slow attack speed that I had to spend way more time waiting around for my chance. The longer you're in a boss fight, the more chances you have to miss a crucial roll, so I think it makes the fight much harder.

If you ask me, the real noob-friendly weapon is the good ol' longsword.

    • You can start with it, or buy it from Andre for cheap
    • C/C for str/dex
    • A scaling for divine/occult if you want to specialize, with lower stat requirements
    • lightweight so you can wear decent armor and still have a good roll
    • fast attacks means more opportunities to attack, good DPS despite its lower attack rating
    • diverse moveset makes it viable even in cramped environments

Don't get me wrong. I had a great time with my zweihander run, but I feel like I fell prey to false advertising!

I must tell my story of suffering in Lost Izalith

    Posted: 14 Aug 2020 11:26 AM PDT

I don't have anyone I can talk to who will understand.

I had been exploring down in Lost Izaleth for what felt like days. I was carrying about 70,000 souls, including the ones I got from the Demon Centipede.

I ran into my dear friend Sigmeyer, and watched as he ran foolishly into his death, too quickly for me to react and help save him. He is gone, now.

I jump into the poison pit to avenge him. I don't have great poison resist, so I put on the ring of rusted iron to get out of the pit more quickly.

As soon as I'm out, I'm invaded by a Darkwraith called Alex. So far from the last bonfire! Panic sets in. I run.

I run back through the ancient temples, past the fire-spitters, up through the branches back to the lava pit. I see Alex. He is a mage of some sort. The panic intensifies -- my fire defenses are up, but what about magic? I wasn't sure.

I went to sprint across the lava field to meet him, but he must have done some incredible high level spell because I saw him lift his catalyst and the next thing I know, I'm dead.

That's ok, I made it back so close to the bonfire. My souls are only waiting on the other side of this lava pit. All I have to do is not aggro those giant demons.

I step into the lava and die, instantly. The darkwraith didn't kill me. It was the ring of rusted iron, which I donned in place of the orange charred ring in my hasty grief to avenge Sigmeyer.

I lost my Onion bro, and I lost my Centipede souls.

"Oh, my dear sun…What now, what should I do…? …My sun, my dear, dear sun…?

    Any tips for Stray Demon?

    Posted: 14 Aug 2020 10:53 PM PDT

I keep getting my ass handed to me when I return to the assylum. The web said the key was to get behind the demon and the aoe wouldn't hit, but that was wrong. Am I too low leveled? I'm only lvl 60. (Also I'm a total noob, please be nice.)

    Platinum run fail

    Posted: 15 Aug 2020 02:05 AM PDT

So I have half way through my platinum run of Darksouls 1 (ng +2) I only have 2 achievements to go. All rare weapons, and the dark ending.

But after creating all the boss weapons I realised I never got priscillas tail, so now I need to do an other ng+3 run just for one tail.

Almost as infuriating as I found the game on my first play through (I put all my levels in resistance, not knowing any better)! Spare yourself the realisation that your platinum run won't be a platinum run, and look up the requirements, just like I didn't!

    Dont go hollow, friends.

    First Ever Playthrough (On 1.05)

    Posted: 15 Aug 2020 01:03 AM PDT

So, I feel like I didn't make the wisest of choices.

I finally decided to play Dark Souls, and I got it for PS3. I read beforehand that pre-patched Dark Souls was far more difficult. I wanted a challenge, and I'm an idiot, so I turned off the internet and started up the game.

Praise Gwyn, this game is a monster. Absolutrly incredible, but a monster. Those damned archers in Anor Londo. The wave of enemies that would aggro every time I even sniffed a new area. The stacked curses....the stacked curses......why did they stack the damn curses?!

Afterwards I decided to finally get the game patched. The amount of souls I got was mind-boggling to me. It made me realize I could have saved a lot of frustration by patching the game....

So 10/10. Would definitely recommend for all newcomers.

Can someone please explain shield stability to me?

    Posted: 14 Aug 2020 10:09 PM PDT

Hey, I'm pretty new to the game, and I'm a little confused about what the 'stability' stat for shields affects. So far I've only been using the heater shield because it's the lightest shield with 100% physical damage reduction, but it doesn't have much stability. What advantage(s) does more stability give?

Can Someone Help Me on DSR Xbox 1?

    Posted: 15 Aug 2020 03:31 AM PDT

So I'm attempting an my first ever all achievements run in any of the souls games. I've played part way through 2 and 3 but always come back to one to get all achievements before fully committing to the next game. But I've got stuck at the four kings boss fight in NG+1 and feel extremely under prepared for the fight due to spending all my souls on the sorceries, pyromancies and miracles plus all the boss upgrades. Can anyone help me with this boss fight so I can progress onto NG+2 to get the final 3 achievements

So I went back for a third playthrough. Capra demon is still the hardest part of the game.

    Posted: 14 Aug 2020 11:05 AM PDT

lmfao WHY do I suck at this fight so bad?? It has taken me more tries than ANY other boss in the game every playthrough.

What's a good name for an anti-mage invader?

    Posted: 14 Aug 2020 11:24 PM PDT

This game has consumed me much like how the abyss consumed Artorias.

    Posted: 14 Aug 2020 02:15 PM PDT

Anyone out there hammering away at this on the Switch version. I hate to be a meme but I'm usually chipping away at the new game system in my off time. You know, while I'm driving or supposed to be spending time with my loved ones. I'm on NG+6 now and starting to slow down though. I'm just waiting for a sale to start so I can pick up the actual remastered goodness on PC.

I need to get serious about starting and making progress in Dark Souls 2, but this game is too good to sit down

I've actually started making video essays on my opinion of this game. Appropriately titled "Opinions You Didn't Ask For." This game has me putting more work into writing scripts/essays than my 4 years in high school combined.

Maybe you have the same or differing opinions on certain parts of this game. Let me know because I'm always looking for new folks to about this game. Let me know friendo.
