For anyone concerned about playing DS2 Posted: 14 Aug 2020 04:01 AM PDT I played through DS1 and loved it. I watched streamers play through DS1, DS3 and Bloodbourne and the running joke was always "lol DS2 placements", "lol DS2 durability" or "lol DS2 bad". It put me off the game before I had even ever played it. I read through the complaints about the discontinuity between the areas, whereas the area continuity was a major praise for DS1. Before even playing the game I assumed this was bad. The game would be bad, I wouldn't enjoy myself. I'm sure many people here had similar experiences to me. However, the first time leaving Things Betwixt and entering Manjula I was stunned. The music, the peace. It was stunning. Similar to Firelink, you have many possible areas to explore. The more I played the game, the more I loved it. It feels *different* to the other games. Which is amazing. I implore anyone who's chilling on this subreddit, considering playing it to just do it. You will have a great experience. It is a true Souls experience. [link] [comments] |
I’m soooooo glad I finally decided to get this game Posted: 13 Aug 2020 10:41 PM PDT After about a year and a half of playing ds game is finally got ds2 two days ago. It's been a blast. Somehow, the ganky enemy placement hasn't bothered me very much, and I've just been cruising around, having fun. Plus, I just got Santier's a couple minutes ago and hee hee it beeg fun hehe. Glad to have joined this community. P.S Straid is an asshole [link] [comments] |
Posted: 14 Aug 2020 11:16 AM PDT I just completed DS2 with all DLC. Great game i enjoyed every minute of my journey. Through my journey: My favorite boss: The Pursuer. My favorite area: Brume Tower. Hardest boss: fume knight. Hardest area: Iron Keep. Easiest boss: The Rotten. Easiest area: Heide's Tower of Flame. Finally, thank you to everyone in the community, I benefited a lot from you. This game is good idk what everyone was crying about Posted: 14 Aug 2020 03:41 AM PDT I went from bloodborne, to DS3, to DSR, DS2 SOTFS. Bloodborne got me into the series. DS3 cemented my enjoyment and made me want to keep playing. I left DS2 for last, well bc, I hear everyone complain about how ds2 sucks. Ok not everyone, but many people. There are the people who fanboy ds2 and call DS1 and DS3 bad. After playing them all I can't say with complete certainty which dark souls game I like the most, but I'd say it's either DS3 or ds2. Bloodborne was great but looking back the game felt really short, weapons were cool but there weren't many, same with apparel. It felt like a game that was 8/10 in terms of being a complete game(in comparison to the other souls games). Fucking amazing game don't get me wrong though. But yeah bloodborne and DS1 are kinda tied in my book. DS1 was also great, but coming from DS3 it did just sort of also feel like a watered down barebones version of DS3. It was an awesome game though, still beat the 6-7 times across a few different builds and PvPed and got DMB which was sick. Yeah backstabs are kinda whack but whatever. Came to this game, expecting it to be not good... and maybe for that reason I was surprised this game is just as good as the other games. I don't get it. And I would totally post this in the DS3 or ds1 subreddit but it would prob get taken down since it's not relevant to that respective game. Yeah some things are different, but that's the thing, the little differences made it enjoyable. It freshened the experience while still keeping that basic groundwork of being in the souls series. You can power stance weapons, riposte and backstab animations are different, soo many spells it feels like DS3 really gave casters the short stick in that aspect, yeah the lore was a little disconnected but I liked it. It was interesting in the same way the other games were. Soul memory did sort of split the community, but even playing this game today I still find I can invade, get invaded, and coop with people pretty easily. So I don't think it's game breaking. Sooo many friendly NPCs and invader NPCs. And I'm NG+ they added new enemies to zones... that was sick. I personally don't like bonfire ascetic though bc I feel that it takes away the incentive to play through the game, like if I just want a certain item I can just burn an item and make that zone NG+. So I don't like that and refuse to use it. The fashion souls in this game is good. And yes it is a bit different in theme went it comes to the environment it's not all dark and gloomy but I like it, there's a bit of both. And maybe not all of these things were in the base game and were added only in SOTFS so idk. But yeah it still felt connected to the series, it was super cool for instance to go to earthen peak with all the poison and the pyro chicks and to see how it connected to DS3 ringed city. It adds a whole new layer of immersion. Similar to how when I played DS1 and saw anor londo being the place where I fought aldrich. It was cool, and I saw a message that said bonfire? Where the bonfire is in DS3. So cool dude. Meeting the babe Lucatiel and brother Creighton was also nice. The torch mechanic was neat and I got some weird satisfaction entering the gutter that was pitch black and then lighting the whole place up. Pharos lockstone and branch of yore are also cool. And yeah there's prob other stuff that I can't think of rn but whatever. Also I hate bloodborne character models. They're hideous [link] [comments] |
Posted: 14 Aug 2020 02:44 PM PDT Hey. I'd like someone to go through the game with me to show me the hidden details and stuff towards the end of the game and dlc. I made ds1, ds3, bloodborne and sekiro (lol) alone, but I really feel like I'd like it better if someone was with me on ds2. I'm actually at huntsman corpse but I can make a new character if it's funnier for you! Thanks in advance and sorry for bothering! I play on ps4 :) [link] [comments] |
Posted: 14 Aug 2020 02:29 PM PDT I finished the game for the first time and decided to buy the third and jump into immediately instead of doing ng+ I'll see how the subreddit for ds3 is for a little bit. It's probably a hellhole wish me luck [link] [comments] |
Posted: 14 Aug 2020 06:52 AM PDT The fight itself isn't that bad, it's the run up to it that kills my spirit. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 14 Aug 2020 10:07 AM PDT My last run-through at Aldia's Keep, I got a good look at Lucatiel's face. I thought it was interesting that her face is only partially hollowed, but the curse is making her rapidly lose her memory and sense of self. Not the greatest screenshot, but I tried enlarging and lightening her face. You can see her left eye has changed. [link] [comments] |

As a sorcerer I can switch builds to a pyromancer without having to reallocate points right? Posted: 14 Aug 2020 09:15 AM PDT I'm SL 150 sorcerer. I have 64 intelligence for soul geyser. Since fire scales cumulatively with intelligence and faith and the softcap being at 60 then I can play as a sorcerer and a pyromancer right? Unless I'm missing something. Or even a combo of both? Cheese Melee Build - Staggerable bosses Posted: 14 Aug 2020 12:59 PM PDT I'm powerstancing two maces + stone ring. Just wondering if there's a list of bosses that can be staggered. Is it limited to humanoid bosses? Does their poise increase on each successive ng cycle? Thanks. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 14 Aug 2020 11:54 AM PDT I don't know if it's alright to ask for help here but the Fume Knight has had me tied up longer than I care to admit. If anyone is willing and able to lend me a hand, it would be greatly appreciated. SL 145, SM 2,024,642 [link] [comments] |
Posted: 14 Aug 2020 04:19 AM PDT I have almost finished my fist weapon only run (only the dlc left) and I was surprised by how good they ended up being. Since it ended up being less hard than I expected, I looked up what was the worst weapon class so I could do a run with that, but I really didn't find any info about worst weapon class as a whole, only about specific weapons. I get that probably all weapon classes have at least one pretty bad option and one good one, but what weapon class is considered the overall worse? My current guesses from my experience are whips, greatbows and daggers (I'm referring to pve, in pvp it's probably the very slow ultraweapons). [link] [comments] |
Hello Dark Souls 2 Subreddit! Question for a big boi... Posted: 14 Aug 2020 11:49 AM PDT I'm playing Scholar on PS4. I'm currently starting off my 5th play through of the game as the one and only... Shrek! I wanted to ask a question. I want to make a high strength, heavy armour build with high equip load and the most powerful weapon in the game. So, what is the most powerful weapon in the game, what build should I aim for (in terms of level attributes) and what armour should I wear? If there's a helmet like the one he wears in Shrek 1, please tell me which one, I really want this to be an awesome cosplay of Shrek who's a big, powerful boi you don't want to be on the wrong side of. Also, I want to actually beat all of the dlcs and Darklurker this play through (I've only beaten Old Iron King 100% once), any other weapons/elements that can whoop the bosses/enemy asses in these areas? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 14 Aug 2020 11:47 AM PDT could anyone tell me where dark lurker is is it a dlc boss [link] [comments] |
Posted: 14 Aug 2020 12:47 AM PDT This is my first darksouls 2 playthrough and I don't know which ending I should get first comment decides [link] [comments] |
I'm having trouble liking this game Posted: 14 Aug 2020 10:33 AM PDT Is there hope of me ever liking it if these are my problems? I'm playing SotFS on PC and currently at Cardinal tower bonfire. My favorite weapon I have right now is foot soldier sword, but I can't use it because it only has 20 durability. Drop rate is absolute shit. I've killed so many of the old ironclad soldiers and not gotten a single thing from them. Extremely ganky enemy placement. Not much else to say. Rolls don't fucking work right now, despite putting so many levels into ADP so that I'm at a health disadvantage. No invincibility on opening shit, forcing me to confront the extremely ganky enemy placement and swarms of soldiers. Does it get better? I've played through DS1 and DS3 multiple times and I am not a bad dark souls player, but this game is just frustrating. Right now it feels like I'm just playing it because it has "Dark Souls" in the title. [link] [comments] |
Holy crap the Majestic GS is fun Posted: 14 Aug 2020 10:30 AM PDT I thought I'd regret the Vitality, Endurance, and ADP I sacrificed to up my Faith and Intelligence to be able to use it but god my God is it fun to offhand with my Fume UGS. The easy accessibility to a gap closer other than the leap attack is nice, and the moveset as a whole is a nice change of pace. Quick question though, is it possible to power stance it with the Fume UGS? Excessive, I know, and I likely won't have the souls for the levels I'd need until NG+. Don't need a PvP optimized build since for me it's really just a nice side addition, I'm just here to have fun lol. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 14 Aug 2020 09:42 AM PDT Waddup skeletons! I just finished Fume Knight with a Black Scorpion Stinger boi but quickly got fed up with poking. It lost its novelty fast. Now I need help with a low SL punching character. Is a Vanquisher Seal better than a Dual Caestus at 15 STR/10 DEX or are there stronger fist setups at low SL? I like to keep my stats below 20. Basically my end goal is to rush Iron Keep into Brume Tower to face Fume again. [link] [comments] |
What does the crystal in freyas room do? Posted: 14 Aug 2020 09:34 AM PDT I came back to freyas room to get back to the bonfire and found a crystal that says "alas, nothing happend" is this a ng+ thing? [link] [comments] |
Is the Bone Fist's move set based on an actual martial art? Posted: 14 Aug 2020 08:59 AM PDT Hadouken aside It's such a neat looking fighting style and to be honest I've been trying to emulate it out of boredom. [link] [comments] |
