    Vincent7 is a cool guy

    Posted: 25 Jul 2020 01:32 PM PDT

There is a player in depths who helps others find bonfire. He invaded me for the second time now in my different playthroughs. A very nice guy, i guess souls playerbase is not that toxic after all.

    Does anyone get this issue/syndrome

    Posted: 25 Jul 2020 10:35 AM PDT

So I was just testing Manus at first, seeing his moves I intended on fighting him tomorrow but on my second go I got incredibly close to winning and I was pissed off at my death. I then physically couldn't stop myself from going in and in. Despite keep telling myself 'just fight him tomorrow' and ofc with each go I got worse at the fight and I got angrier. Until I calmed myself down and managed to beat him. Does anyone else find themselves not being able to stop going to the boss until they've won?

Played it again, after seven years.

    Posted: 25 Jul 2020 11:49 PM PDT

Hope everyone is having a great day. I'm having the best one.

Initially, I bought Dark Souls: Prepare to Die edition back in 2012 due to a friend nagging me to play it and since I didn't own a PS3, that what I got, and boy that was amazing. For the next year I would spent all my gaming time in that game. I've finished it more times than I can remember and even played it in more ways than I can remember. I easily sunk more than 1000 hours into the game. But I was in college and it eventually got lost along the way.

Today, after seven years, I decided to once again play this masterpiece of a game. I set up my steam account, downloaded it and got right to it. All the memories came back, every nook and cranny of this masterpiece filled me with nostalgia.

Most of my skills were gone, but I put up quite a fight! Made all my way to Anor Londo defeated O&S on my second try, delved deep into the Tomb of Giants to face Nito, faced the headbutting pain that is the Bed of Chaos, slashed my way across the four kings in full Havel mode.

Now, I'm standing in front of Gwyn's prison looking at my controller, and can't force myself to enter. This game is a gem and hasn't aged a day from it's release. It will always have a place in my heart. Only sad thing is how hard it is to co-op in PTDE since the release of the remastered.

I'll always treasure this game and all it did for me.

    Stay safe lads, Cheers.

To the Sun Bro who pulled the cord

    Posted: 25 Jul 2020 02:45 PM PDT

I hated PvP at first as my character was a weak and slow fat guy. However after many hours of building it up, I've been doing a lot better. But today I was fighting someone by the name 0 dressed in an all Solaire set who just kept backstabbing me since I was slow af with a great club and crystal shield. But part way through and out of Estus, I switched over to the dragon bone fist and the moonlight shield to speed myself up a bit and it worked a treat. I kept putting the pressure on but he was always able to get away and refill his life. But he must have ran out as just before I could kill him, his character stop moving and became immortal meaning he's disconnected.

    I didn't even get a reward.

Praise the moon. The sun is dead to me now.

Vagueness of the Story and Different Interpretations Linked With Japanese Style Of Communicating

    Posted: 26 Jul 2020 02:06 AM PDT

Was studying Japanese and The teacher mentioned that any direct form of approaching something/someone directly "Kore" is rude. Even when introduction is being made its "Kochira" ( in this general direction).

When we add this format to Souls Game. I think we each get this different experience and different people have different interpretations.

So I recently beat Dark Souls coming from Dark Souls 2, and here are my thoughts.

    Posted: 26 Jul 2020 01:25 AM PDT

It's interesting seeing all the stuff in DS1 that's paralleled in DS2. I wasn't really caught off guard with it's difficulty, perhaps DS2 trained me well in checking my lore and corners.

Parrying felt a little funny to me, I'm so tuned in DS2 that it threw off my sense of parry timing. But I handled myself good enough.

Magic felt kinda weak, and I used it more for healing than offense. I got more use of Fall Control, Remedy, and Dispel Curse than any of the Soul Arrow spells.

I didn't find much use of the weapons I found throughout the game outside of halberds, and I found my best bet with the Black Knight Halberd, which was instrumental in smacking around troublesome mooks and bosses.

Speaking of bosses, there were some I found the Dark Souls 2 parallel to, like Chaos Witch Quelaag and Scorpioness Najika, Seathe the Scaleless Dragon and Duke's Dear Freyja, Knight Artorias and Burnt Ivory King, etc.

I didn't really enjoy the tunes too much, I guess the standout for me would be the Four Kings' theme.

The sorta chunky movement in DS1 made me think more carefully about my loadout, and I mostly stayed with the Black Leather set. In times, it made traveling round and about made it tiresome pretty quickly.

Upgrading weapons was a nightmare. It was terrible in DS2 needing to bring an ember to a blacksmith here, and free another there, but to need embers for particular blacksmiths, and needing differently colored titanite for specific infusions was hair-pulling.

Out of all the blacksmiths, I liked the Giant Blacksmith the best, he was friendly, sold items that I needed, gave me a hint to find an ember, gave pleasant chatter, and didn't give me trouble.

Did I enjoy my little romp through Anor Londo? Not really. I was feeling miserable midway though, and I wanted the game to be over and done with, but I remained steadfast to see it through the end with giving Gwyn a good hearty smack from my halberd.

    You must all be hallow.

    Posted: 26 Jul 2020 02:39 AM PDT

Reinstalled the game again today after about a year. Left my summon sign for a good while at every boss also checked myself for summon signs at bosses. Nobody, not a single person, in hours of playing. I've played the game up to O&S today without any sign of another player. Not even an invasion, all I've got is Solaire. My wifi is fully open, I guess DSR is just dead?

What’s your go to game when you take a break from soulslikes?

    Posted: 25 Jul 2020 01:46 PM PDT

I've played a lot of soulslikes, but as some of you, I imagine you also have to take a break from time to time. For me, when I'm taking a break from soulslikes I like going into mindless gameplay games that don't require 100% of your attention like Doom, AC or Cod.

    Dark Souls-ish Dark Fantasy Movies/Shows

    Posted: 26 Jul 2020 02:44 AM PDT

I've been searching high and low on Reddit and google for movies or shows with the level of mythos that Dark Souls brings.

There have been a few posts over the years mainly recommending Berserk or Valhalla Rising. I've watched Valhalla (which was good, but iffy) and currently on the 1st movie of 3 in the Golden Age of Beserk.

Seriously wanted to recommend The Head Hunter to you fellow hollows if you've not seen it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ZqtRbifT6Q

It's one of the closest things I've seen in comparison to Dark Souls.

My main question is are there updated suggestions that really strike home in either movies / shows similar in lore and style of Dark Souls?

Also, is Berserk 'Golden Age' the 3 part series the best to watch (read multiple opinions that 2016 was terrible).

(Claymore isn't necessarily there anime-wise also not looking specifically anime/cgi but definitely don't mind).

    Cheers!

Why is NG+ so goddamn hard?

    Posted: 26 Jul 2020 02:36 AM PDT

Ive been paying dsr for a while now, and ascended to NG+ a few weeks ago. Since then Ive been stuck at gargoyles. Why does their fire attack deal so much damage? I have 1,3k hp and even when wearing smoughs set, which has the highest fire def I could find, I almost get oneshot. With fully upgraded Elite set I still get close to 1/3 of my hp chopped of by a single swing. Its absolute torture. I got through the normal game quite easily, but this is just crazy.

Trying to finish the Platinum. Anyone around SL150 need Boss help?

    Posted: 25 Jul 2020 08:30 PM PDT

Tl:Dr, trying to platinum the game and the only trophy I have left is the Miracle one. The only Miracles I have left are the ones tied to the Warriors of Sunlight Covenant. But with my astoundingly high Faith score of 8, it'll be a good while before I can join through the natural 25 Faith requirement (I'm also loathe to spend the time and Souls for an extra 17 levels, but that's just me being lazy). If anyone around my level needs help with bosses, just let me know. Love to do my best to show my appreciation for the community.

Need help making a dex build.

    Posted: 25 Jul 2020 05:34 PM PDT

Basically I've always either gone for quality, strength or a pure caster. I've barely looked into the dex side of the spectrum. What weapons/armour should I be using and which school of magic is most effective stat wise for making a sl120 build?
