... arrows, that is. For what, you ask? Well, I have been farming the Drakekeepers for the last few days to get the Drakekeeper's Ultra Greatsword. It was painful and annoying enough, so I decided to keep track this evening when I swapped to a poison arrow solution to the three Drakekeepers I needed to genocide.

It took me exactly 10,382 poison arrows. It takes four arrows to poison each enemy. That means I killed 2,595 Drakekeepers. Since there are three I need to kill to get to the greatsword one, I killed each one 865 motherFUCKING times.

And the real kicker of it all is that I don't even like the sword better than the regular Greatsword. Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuu-

Finally, on attempt #61, after countless hours, I've beaten the no death/bonfire run. I've never felt so accomplished in a souls game. Time to clear the rest of the game and have some fun with invisible weapons in pvp...

Am i the only one who likes dark souls 2 better than the rest of them?

    Posted: 12 Jul 2020 09:13 AM PDT

I know that ds2 is considered the worst of the best franchise and that it isn't a bad game just poor compared to the other games but... I actually like ds2 better, the controls seem to be easier for me and the gameplay just feels more real to me. Idk if anyone else agrees but this is my opinion.

So I know people don’t really care for this game, but I platinumed Dark Souls 2 Scholar of the First Sin.

    Posted: 12 Jul 2020 11:19 AM PDT

    Picture of Platinum:

So this is my second soulsborne platinum in less than two weeks. Now I know that people don't really like this game and don't care for it... but I do; this was the game that got me into the souls series. The first souls game I have ever played was Dark Souls 2 Scholar of the First Sin, I was 7 years old. So it has a special place in my heart.

The first time I played this game was 7 years ago, on the ps3, I wanted to try it out since I saw my dad playing it. So I asked him if I could play the game and he let me play it. I got to about level 40 and stopped playing for over a year. On the ps4, I was burnt out from playing a bunch of shooter games and wanted something new. I scrolled down the screen to find a new game and saw Dark Souls 2, Scholar of the First Sin. I had remembered playing it once, so I asked my dad if I could play Ds2 and he let me play warning me that it was a hard game. I chose to be a sorcerer, and went off on my journey. I needed help with a few boss from my dad, most notably, Velstadt. I had been fighting Velstadt for so long with my little hands but I just couldn't, and my dad beat him for me. I also had to have my dad beat the ruin sentinels for me as well. But that was mostly it. All the other bosses weren't that much trouble for me.

I also know that this game has a lot of problems, like movement issues and large hit boxes. But even with that, I still love it. This is my favorite souls game behind BloodBorne and demon souls! I have had more fun with this game than ds1, 3, and sekiro.

The "quantity over quality" argument to me is completely incorrect. Even if that was what the developers of ds2 were going for, I don't see it as any issue, except for the "challenge areas" in the dlc. Other than those areas, the amount of enemies seems very manageable, even more manageable in fact of that of ds1! Both the games have large amounts of enemies, you just have to bait them out one by one! For example, dukes archives in ds1; There are tons of enemies that do insane damage that you have to deal with, so you bait them out one by one. So "quantity over quality" is, in my opinion, completely fake... and if it isn't, then it applies to all souls games.

I have fought every boss in this game, and I have to say, my favorite boss would have to be fume knight. It took me about 15-25 tries to beat him for my first time, but after that, I have never lost to him again with at least 20 adp. I probably have had the most fun with him over any other souls boss tbh! I know that people do like sir alonne though, but I only fought him once since his run back is so long. But don't get me wrong, Sir Alonne is an amazing boss, I just didn't really want to fight him. I also love Sinh, Avva, Looking Glass Knight, Velstadt, Throne Watcher and Defender, and so much others!

People complain that there are so much bad and uninspired bosses in ds2, and there are, but there are so much amazing ones too! People say twin dragon riders are bad and reused bosses, but that is the only boss that does that. Ds1 has so many reused bosses, bad bosses, and unoriginal bosses, just like ds2. But they both have there amazing ones as well.

So I have beaten this game probably over 20 times, which is way more than I have the other games, and that's mostly because I have the most fun in souls games with the builds and, well, building my builds! Dark souls 2 has so much variety with builds, since there are tons of dual wield combinations, you can infuse almost every weapon, and buff almost every weapon! I have done so much playthroughs just to make new builds! I plan out what I'm going to use and how, and then start a new playthrough striving to complete my build and beat the game!

So in conclusion I personally think ds2 is an amazing game that has some problems. You are entitled to your own opinion, but this is just what I think. Dark Souls 2 is not a bad game, and it is not a bad Souls game. People love to hate on ds2 because it has some bugs, it was made by different people, and because it is different than ds1. Also I got this trophy in about a month. You could say it took me years to get this trophy, but I took long breaks, and really only started to try and get it about a month ago.

You will always have a special place in my heart Dark Souls 2...

Ps, ds1 is an amazing game, I'm just using it as an example to compare to ds2 since ds2 came out right after ds1.

Tedium. Stuck in the iron keep now. It's infuriating level design but you already knew that.

Just Beat Ds2 No Death (The ideal build for surviving it and my experience)

    Posted: 12 Jul 2020 01:07 AM PDT

After half a year of painful attempts I finally beat Ds2 No Death. The ring itself is not that good but the feeling of achievement is great. My build that survived this was +10 rapier, with a backup +8 mace, 50 vigor 20 Endurance 38 Vitality No stats in Attunement 12 Strength 12 Dexterity 45 ADP No stats in Faith No stats in Intelligence Havel's Armour and the Blossom Kite Shield. Rings were Third Dragon Ring Covetous silver Serpent ring +1 Ring of blades +1 Cloranthy Ring +1

Areas I found the most challenging was Dragon shrine and Shrine of Amana. Bosses that I found the most challenging were Guardian Dragon, Throne Watcher and Defender, Smelter Demon and Velsdat.

Havel Monsters are very good for surviving most areas but Shrine of Amana is a Havel's cryptonite. Most of those enemies have striking damage, the only weapon type that Havel's are weak to. Dragon Shrine had basically stronger and faster Old Knights which was not fun either.

Some of you may laugh when I say guardian dragon was hard but if you get caught in the middle of his flames they can almost 3 shot combo you as you cannot escape until the flames die down when caught in that attack.

I would do Lost Sinner First for Blossom Kite and good souls. I would then do old iron king because It gets the fear of him out of the way. Next I would go down to the first bonfire in black gulch but go for the Dukes Dear Freja after, Rotten should be killed last.

Use phantoms as well. I would have struggled with a lot more bosses if it wasn't for phantoms like Bradley, Masterless Glencour, Bashful Ray etc. Also Bring Bodyguards. Summoning a shade/phantom to help you with an area is a great idea as it can lower your risk of dying in quite a lot of scenarios.

Also have unique strategies for different scenarios. For example if I'm doing the trapped room where Rosabeth The Pyromancer is I would kill the 2 at the bottom floor and then exploding the barrels in the room with firebombs to trigger the 4 at the top. This way I haven't pulled the lever yet meaning I can still run out the entrance and bow them from afar. Then I talk to benhartd, pull the lever and stab the frog.

If you guys want a more detailed guide on strategies for different areas feel free to ask me in the comments about a scenario of your choice and leave a like on this post if you found it helpful. 😁

Dark Souls 2 Season Pass DLC problem

    Posted: 12 Jul 2020 09:21 AM PDT

I bought the DS2 season pass DLC on the playstation store on my PC (Belgium) but I can't install it on my PS3.

I have looked at the playstation download support and I have tried going to account manager-> transactions-> downloadlist but it's not there although it's in my transactions. I also tried it with the auto-update several times but still don't have it. I contacted playstation support which redirected me to Bandai Namco support but I still don't have a solution. I have the Black Armor Edition (metal case) if that makes any difference?

I have checked ingame but I don't have the keys in my inventory and I don't have the corpses with the keys. I'm at the final boss, all other's have been defeated so I should be able to see the corpses with the keys right?

Has anyone else had issues with the Season pass DLC and found a way to solve it?

Really want to play the DLC's badly

Hello fellow redditors. I would like to buy scholar of the first sin as my first ever ds game I could actually purchase and I wonder if there are a lot of people playing the game currently? If so, maybe a recommendation for multiplayer since I know how much the rapier is overpowered in pve.

A Fresh start for experienced players

    Posted: 12 Jul 2020 09:00 AM PDT

I don't know why but there is something about killing Old Dragonslayer first that just makes me feel like a pro. Normally the casual way to begin your game is to enjoy the boringly plain level design of forest that you've seen 1000 times over. Kill both forest bosses then move to hiedes, no man's warf and so on. Switching it up really helps bring out more enjoyment from the game. Doing hiedes first, then no man's warf, lost Bastille And THEN Forest. It Meant that I was level 67 by the time I had gone to the first area. I strongly recommend trying something like this even if it's not my exact idea.

I beat Ng with swordsman starter gear

    Posted: 11 Jul 2020 03:52 PM PDT

Barely made it through throne W&D and beat Nash first try on my own

    Basics challenge:

The rules are simple, only use the equipment you're given when you choose your class. You are allowed to upgrade the equipment and if a weapon breaks you are allowed to change to the same weapon but not another (eg if scimitar breaks then sitch to another scimitar).

That's about it, there's also an easy version that allows you to add spellcasting and other weapons like bows, but I recommend the true version.

    Rings are optional for both

    New Player

    Posted: 12 Jul 2020 11:44 AM PDT

So just finished dark souls for the first time and to be honest I thought it wasn't too bad. The hardest thing for me was knowing where to go and what I was meant to be doing.

Started dark souls 2 today and it's so hard, like triple the difficulty of 1. What's the best way to start? Like should I be farming to level up?

    Finally Back

    Posted: 12 Jul 2020 07:26 AM PDT

I finally bought SotFS off the summer sale and finally got back into the game.

I was done paying for online play on the consoles and work got in the way. Leaving me no time to play while paying for a service. I'm leaving behind over 5k played time on the ps4 and over another couple k in the 360.

Happy to be back and happy to see there's still ppl playing
