    wtf is going on here

I started NG+ with my mage build and opened a big bottle of red wine

    Posted: 09 Jul 2020 06:01 PM PDT

Tomorrow we've decided to put my dog down because his quality of life is very bad right now and we don't want him to suffer with his growing cancerous tumor. He had a second wind for a couple weeks and family was able to come from Florida to see him. He's lived an incredible life and he's gonna have an even more badass doggy heaven I can you that. I love that mother fucker. I'm celebrating my time with him by starting NG+ with my mage build. I just got a soul Geyser so I decided to go from Staff of Wisdom in my left/magic warped sword in my right to just a pure sorcerer build. Already gotten 2 great souls and I'm probably an hour into this. Point is Dark Souls has been a critical game in my life because it pulls me in so much that I get out of the real world and focus on the game. I mean its hard as shit you gotta give it 110%. Still its getting me through this tough moment. On the brighter side, I'm working towards moving to LA to grow weed with a big licensed dispensary. It's a big decision, being that I'm in Georgia and just adopted a dope cat. I'm going through with it in the next couple weeks, mainly because of my dog. He was the only reason I stayed back home so long with COVID. Now that he's gone I wanna leave, and I have the most awesome opportunity ever. I've got unemployment checks rolling in so I can afford the move easily. The change in cost of living will be crazy but I'll take it as it comes. Without my dog I've lost my original companion for life. But now I've got my cat Charlie. I've been listening to "Main on End" by Alan Silvestri on repeat, it's perfect for all this. Time to stay up all night with with wine and tear through this game......and possibly play Arkham Knight. To all my dark souls friendos out there keep badassing on and praise the sun motha fucka.

Edit: I moved home to my family's house because COVID shut my job down and they live in Bumfuck, GA. I don't have anyone to talk to or vent out. Reddit always has good people so I figured I'd talk to yall about my problems

Ah, that wonderful feel when you take a break from a boss that's been steamrolling you, then come back and kill it on your first try.

    Posted: 10 Jul 2020 01:32 PM PDT

On a related note, fuck you, Darklurker. Fuck your portal missiles, fuck your weird-ass cast times, fuck your clone, and, just for good measure, fuck your chasms. I spent like twenty effigies just opening up the Shaded Woods Chasm again and again and again; by the time I decided I needed to step away and get a grip, the enemies there weren't even spawning anymore. Yeesh.

Next on the agenda: Alonne, who has also been steamrolling me. At least there ain't two of him...

    Most broken Hitboxes?

    Posted: 10 Jul 2020 05:11 AM PDT

Which boss you feel has the most broken Hitboxes in game? Sir Alonne's "grab" attack or Pursuer's "grab" attack? Or anyone else?

Most rage inducing boss for you?

    Posted: 10 Jul 2020 09:20 AM PDT

Lud and Zallen and the shitty area before them can fuck off.

Both smelter demon's have terrible runbacks.

Burnt ivory king while being a good boss the knights at the start are so annoying.

And Sinh because he don't stop flying around.

I decided to make a video on why Soul Level 1 runs are so important to the Souls community

    Posted: 09 Jul 2020 03:20 PM PDT

Dark Souls is a game I care so much about. It has become one of my favorite games as well as one of my favorite games to make videos on. I'm very passionate about challenge runs and the many insane achievements the souls community has pulled off. So I decided to make this video detailing why Soul Level 1 runs are so special. Hope you all enjoy.

    The most Honorable Invader

    Posted: 10 Jul 2020 12:46 PM PDT

So I was at the Lost Bastille in a new game I started a few hours ago, almost going into the Sentinels fight when someone invaded me. I freaked out for a moment because I was not prepared for this. When I saw him, he was using the White Ring and did not attack me, so I just chuckled and ignored him. Then he came after me calling me somewhere.

After I followed him, he gave me 30+ effigies and a full set of +10 Archdrake Armor! And then challenged me to a very honorable duel.

I had to quit the game shortly after because I could not comprehend such amazing amount of kindness.

What's with invasions in Aldia's Keep and onwards?

    Posted: 10 Jul 2020 10:52 AM PDT

I'm new to DS2 and so far it's been fun. From the beginning, I was always thinking "I expected a lot more invaders". Cursed words, because I arrived at Aldia's Keep and oh my God, they don't stop coming! I'm in Dragon Shrine now and I've been invaded 5 times since yesterday (I don't want to burn my Effigies). The question is: is my luck just bad or there's a reason why players choose this segment to invade? If that's the case, why is that?

I just punched Fume Knight to death

    Posted: 10 Jul 2020 02:19 PM PDT

Power Stance Caestus is the most fun I've had in this game. I'm pretty overleveled at Lvl 150, but I managed to overcome Fume Knight on my 3rd attempt.

How many souls do you keep untill backtracking and spending ? (Read description)

    Posted: 10 Jul 2020 10:26 AM PDT

I tend to spend as soon as i have enough to level up 2 to 3 levels ie, 20-30k souls in around level 100.

Am i being a pussy and grinding too much ? What about you in your first playthrough in any souls game ?

Is SOTFS the hardest Souls game?

    Posted: 10 Jul 2020 02:10 PM PDT

    Just talking about the trilogy

I played them in order of DS1, then SOTFS, then DS3 and I honestly found SOTFS to be the hardest of the 3, mainly due to a lot of the mobs(fuck that one spear wielding knight in Hiede's Tower)

I see a lot of people that claim that DS2 was the easiest of the trilogy, and while some of the boss fights were pretty easy, I think that DS2 was the hardest personally.

So what's the deal with smelter demon?

    Posted: 10 Jul 2020 05:05 AM PDT

Alright first of all I want to clarify that this isnt a post to flex about being good at the game. Everyone has some bosses that they are good at and some that they are bad at. For example I always struggle with throne watcher and defender, the old iron king and Elana for no apparent reason.

But I have noticed that a lot of people consider the fight against smelter demon to be somewhat tough. Is it just because the two runs to the fog gate are garbage, or can someone explain me what do people find challenging about the actual fight?

Help with the rotten on Xbox please

Am I making my DS2 experience unnecessarily tedious?

    Posted: 09 Jul 2020 07:48 PM PDT

So I'm a longtime fan of the whole Fromsoft series and played them all several times (except Demon's Souls bc I don't have a ps3 and haven't set up an emulator yet) BUT I've been playing Dark Souls 2 in spurts for a couple years now and still haven't completed the whole thing although I'm near the end because it's so absurdly frustrating imo. I've been playing SOTFS edition on pc (vanilla) and I've heard that the original edition of the game, especially on consoles, is a significantly smoother experience. I'm pretty much at the end here so I'm just going to grind out the rest of this save without fiddling with mods or anything. Additionally I do love everything about the game except for the controls which is why I find it so frustrating bc I want to love it more. My gripes with the game are pretty much the usual directed at DS2 for being too clunky and slow and an endless gankfest (SOTFS).

Would it be worth rebuying the regular edition on console? I'd be excited to replay the game if it was smoother.

So if I join someone else's world and beat a boss with them (Old Dragon Slayer), will I get his soul again even though I've beaten him in my world?

    Posted: 10 Jul 2020 09:49 AM PDT

I'm starting to love spears, but I've already used his soul so I can't get his spear now ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

A Testament to Suffering 2: The Soft Lock

    Posted: 10 Jul 2020 12:19 PM PDT

This is an update story post

In my last I had gone over being stuck between No Man's Wharf (and not being able to do it) and The Pursuer (and not being able to do it)

I made yet another new character (because why not, also according to a few posts I was likely spending my levels incorrectly)

I got past both of these obstacles

However I believe I may have inadvertently soft locked myself

Now you may wonder how I did this.

Genius me didn't realize that you needed the thing to unpetrify someone/thing for the Bastille, instead I used it on the Pyromancer lady who was trying to pull the lever Kronk

(Also between beating The Pursuer and freeing the Pyromancer lady I also gained access to the rat area, for lack of a better way of calling it)

This lead me to having access to Fog Forest USA way earlier than I should have. Thankfully with the help of a friend and a randomly placed NPC summon, we beat that boss.

That doesn't explain why I am soft locked though.

See this is wear things start to fall into place a bit

So I am now unable to progress in Bastille, because I don't have the item needed (and I have 0 idea where to get one...aside from the one you buy from crazy shop keeper; which was used to free pyromancer lady)

I can't progress in the rat area because I get stunned locked into being poisoned and bleed to death by the rats and rat boss

And I can't progress in the area after the Scorpion boss because...another giant rat that deals way too much damage

    tldr

the choices I made have likely soft locked me into being stuck in 3 places with no way forward

I’ve just started this game, I played DS3 first, DS1 and now DS2. Through the hour I’ve played it it has been really, really fun. The only problem is that it feels nothing like “dark souls” I’m not saying this as hate just saying it doesn’t reassemble what DS is. I’m still giving it a chance

How do I even fight the Drakekeeper with the 2h mace without arrows?

    Posted: 10 Jul 2020 12:19 PM PDT

I literally can't hit the Drakekeeper without getting hit and then stunned and hit multiple other times and then dying, and I would just say run past him if the Dragon Knights didn't follow me because of me running away, any tips for some one who uses melee? Update: I beat it with toxic mist and then ran and blocked until it died.

Is there a right point at the game to start de DLC's ?

    Posted: 10 Jul 2020 12:07 PM PDT

So I already beat the regular version of the game, but I never played the DLC's. I decided to buy the SOTFS version and I just beated Velstad and got the King's Ring and I already have all three keys to acess the DLC's.

Should I start the DLC's now or it doesen't matter for the endingo of the game ?
