Coming from DS2, what are the differences going into DSR? Posted: 12 Jun 2020 07:28 AM PDT I asked this in the DS1 sub as well, but I wouldn't mind perspective from DS2 players. I have played ds2 almost exclusively since launch (took a multi year break after ds3 killed multiplayer and the consoles after 360 slowly ate up the player base). I'm back to playing ds2 on my 360 after attempting ds3 but finding it unenjoyable. Ashen estus ruined magic, casters forced to dex, overall pace of the game feels more like action and less like a butt clench going around corners hoping an enemy won't be there. I guess in general I enjoyed the slower more methodical approach DS2 took. I like the combat fluidity, the way consumables were balanced, and in general the flow of the game. So I guess my question is what are the key differences to keep in mind going from DS2 to DSR, gameplay wise? Other than iframes of course. What should I keep in mind while I play DSR as not to get frustrated when it's different from what I've been used to literally since ds2 launch? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 12 Jun 2020 07:14 AM PDT If we give rosabeth the symbol of avarice, will she die or will she not wear it or will she wear it but not be effected? Edit : got my achievement(gathering) then tried it, yes she wears it and yes she looses her health but she doesn't agro, just stand there taking damage... Considering her huge health pool, it can take upto 20 mins for her to die Edit : no looking at the rate, I think somewhere around 40 mins for her to die [link] [comments] |
I just beat Fume Knight on my first try Posted: 12 Jun 2020 12:13 PM PDT My hands are so shaking while writing this. He was so tough. After the fight one of my friends told me that the statues heal him. And i just used my last two smelter wedges on the left ones. What luck i had. I also happened to have a few Estus and a Brightbug. Popped a Gold Pine Resin as well. Anyway, just wanted to express my feelings. Lol. And shoutout to my friend, who has been stuck on him for a week. [link] [comments] |
Just finished ds2 in champions covenant. Posted: 12 Jun 2020 03:12 AM PDT I just finished SOTFS in the champions covenant and i didnt realize what the covenant did. I was struggling with nashandra and i saw on this page that the champions covenant destroys your game😂😂i finally finished now. That was hard😂 [link] [comments] |
I finally got through Heide's Tower of Flame Posted: 12 Jun 2020 01:23 PM PDT Just wanna say this, i know this isn't much but I've played on PS3 and never got past Tower of Flame. I've buyed the game for PS4 weeks ago and finally beat the Dragonrider, thanks to all of you who give me advices <3 [link] [comments] |
This game is fucking amazing and It’s becoming the best Soulsborne experience i have ever had. Posted: 12 Jun 2020 01:55 PM PDT Before saying anything, I didn't played DS1/Remastered so i don't know much things about it. But i played every other Soulsborne games and Sekiro. DS2 is clearly my becoming favourite among them. This games slow combat system is so good and enemies are so agressive and stacked together like they would irl. So this encourages tactical approachs. You just can't hack and slash every enemy you see like you do in DS3/BB and i'm in love with this. I can't understand why people don't like DS2 that much. Ps: Sorceries in this game is so much better than DS3 and I'm a sorcerer fanboy so this is a pro for me too :D [link] [comments] |
Anybody wanna play ds2 with me? I'm on ps4 and I don't have any friends that play ds2. Posted: 12 Jun 2020 10:07 AM PDT Im also a major noob unless you count the first 2 hours of the game as I've replayed it 10 times over desperately trying to make the perfect build for me. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 12 Jun 2020 01:19 PM PDT I don't understand what's wrong with me. I just put 250 hours in DSR, loved it a lot. Got really good to the point I was one shotting O&S and Kalameet. I install DS2 for my 1st playthrough. I cannot stop dying to HOLLOWEDS. I don't know what it is, I feel like I am constantly outnumbered. I mean seriously, I'm constantly fighting 2-3 enemies at a time. I'm having serious difficulty rolling away from strikes, I feel like the hitbox is larger than DSR, my dude is slower to recover from striking and the enemies strike faster than DSR. Can someone convince me to keep playing or am I just not gud enough? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 12 Jun 2020 02:47 PM PDT It comes up quite a lot...I think it would help! And we should also include the fact that you hit interact on illusory walls instead of striking them!! Probably a few more things we could include...leveling up adp...not joining covenant of champions...other non-spoilery stuff. [link] [comments] |

Sorry if this post is already been made but I need help Posted: 12 Jun 2020 01:53 PM PDT I just finished dark souls 1 and am completely floored by the total mix up of key binds and mapping for PC. Is there any resource or reference I can use to map it to be as close to Dark Souls 1 mechanics as possible? I'd like to play through the game, but I cannot get over the frustrating difference in mechanics and the shocking lack of any tutorial level to to at least explain them???? Thank you! Posted: 12 Jun 2020 10:06 AM PDT Uh yeah what the fuck? I got invaded three times the second I stepped foot in this area. Twice by one guy who killed me in one weapon combo from some fucking katana or something, and got killed twice by gnomes that could only reach my knees. What is this nightmarish realm? EDIT: Got killed by the katana guy again. [link] [comments] |

[SPOILER] To take or leave the throne? Posted: 12 Jun 2020 12:50 PM PDT Title. Lore-wise, what will happen if you take the throne? And what will happen if you leave it? [link] [comments] |
Why do people love scholar of the first sin Posted: 11 Jun 2020 11:12 PM PDT I've seen a lot of people say that SotFS is the better version and best way to play dks 2 and I don't get it at all. To be fair it's been a long time since I've played vanilla so I'm not exactly up to date on all the differences between the two but even still this game is just infuriating at times. One reason I've seen people saying is that SotFS addresses the "too many enemies swarm you" problem vanilla had. I completely fail to see how. Granted I did just recently (no more than 3 days) start another game on Scholar so I'm not far (lost bastille). But even here and a few times in the forest of fallen giants there's still a few unfair ganks. The big one that comes to my mind is during the run to the ruin sentinels there's a room with just 2 royal knights. But of course there aren't because there's a hallway to the left with 3 or 5 more royal knights that will all chase you as soon as 1 sees you. So if you don't know about them and don't bait out the first two (why would you if it's your first time) then you've got at least 5-6 fairly challenging (for early game) enemies that you have to fight in very tight areas or they just block your way. And all the little bell keepers on top of the bell tower where some can attack you as soon as you get off the ladder with no chance to dodge is crap. This isn't the only area too, drangleic castle, crypt where velstadt is, iron keep, and shrine of amana come to my mind but the dlcs I think are the worst offenders of this, especially iron king. Plus, one or two enemy placements make no sense me. Like why is there just a giant executioners horse in drangleic castle, just why. And why are there so many fragrant branch of yore guys everywhere, like the tutorial area. What the hell is he doing there. I admit this one is definitely nit picky but besides that I just don't care for it either way, mostly because i can't remember vanilla placements which is on me. (Hitboxes are still awful at times too) I'm not trying to hate on the game, 2 was my first dark souls but there are parts where Im legitimately thinking "how did I beat or like this game at all". I just don't see how First Sin is such a huge improvement and is leagues better than 2. Discuss [link] [comments] |

Where's Ludleth when i need him? Posted: 12 Jun 2020 05:36 AM PDT |
Posted: 11 Jun 2020 09:15 PM PDT Hello everyone. I just read a wonderful reddit post by /u/thehittite titled "So you wanna be a Sorcerer?" , because I wanted to write a PvE sorcery guide of my own so I looked at what was out there already on the subject. This guide looks very solid, especially with its staff and spell lists, both of which cover more information than I was going to. However, and this is by no means a slight on the work, I think there is more to say about stats and about equipment beyond weaponry. So go and read that guide, then come back here for talk about those two topics. StatsAs Hittite says, INT is your damage stat, and you want it at 50 for the best staff (wisdom), or 40 if you're not fully invested to sorcery. However, imho INT is not actually the strongest stat for a sorcerer. Instead that title goes to ATN. ATN does a whopping 4 different things: increased spell slots, increased spell uses, increased cast speed, and increased agility. 1) spell slots. More spell slots not only mean more total spell casts between bonfires so you don't have to demean yourself with weaponry, it also means you can more comfortably pack more utility and more niche spells. Sorcery is king of single target ranged damage, and you will want plenty of Soul Arrows (well, Great Heavy Soul Arrows), but there's also burst damage (Soul Spear), AoE/Crowd Control (basically Soul Greatsword or bust), and utility (light, fall control, yearn). Basically the more spell slots you have, the more of those juicy spells Hittite listed you can pack, and the more situations you can be prepared for at once 2) spell uses. Not only does ATN increase total casts by allowing you to equip more spells, but it also gives each spell more uses in its slot. Soul Spear has only 2 base uses but even a mid-game sorcerer can easily have 4-5 uses of Soul Spear per slot (partially aided by equipment I will get to). Since a lot of your more awesome-er spells can't be farmed or purchased infinitely without some difficulty, getting more juice from each slot on top of more slots has compounding awesomeness. And we can all use some of that! 3) cast speed. Sorcerers can deal a lot of damage with their spells from impressive ranges, but enemies can and will rush you down once you've made them angry. Faster cast speed helps you kill enemies before they get to you, and makes punishing bosses or larger enemies much safer and easier. Also, higher damage sorceries come balanced with higher cast times, so reducing cast time helps you run your high damage spells and actually make use of them. Oh, and cast speed helps negate the height problem of the Staff of Wisdom because you can fire off spells before enemies run right under you and you miss. 4) agility. As if ATN needed to be any better, it makes you dodge good for whatever reason. Hey, I won't complain. With enough ATN you can eventually forgo any levels in ADP which saves you levels in the long run, to increase ATN even higher of course. The growth rate is insanely slow so you still need to level ADP early, but that's what Soul Vessels are for. This is super important for gishes who are stretched ulta-thin on levels, but full casters also getting an extra dump stat (ADP) is great. Okay, so ATN is awesome, and obv you need to level INT. Besides that you're doing pretty basic Souls stuff: VGR and END for durability, VIT to equip proper fashion souls (although mage fashion tends to be light weight), STR/DEX required to wield your desired weapon (you heathen). Faith doesn't help you at all unless/until you want to start hexing. Now let's talk about equipment. Equipmentfor the most part in any Souls game, equipment is about fashion. Damage reduction is negligible esp at high NG+s and during boss fights. Its all about looking good. Unfortunately for you, mage, you have equipment with powerful mechanical effects that its hard to pass up on. Luckily all of them are head pieces so you can just pick one preferred piece and roll with it. The absolute best headpiece bar none is the Crown of the Iron King, which periodically restores 20% of your spells every 2 minutes. Even if you only get half efficacy from each tick of the crown, a single tick is still as potent as the runner up Hexer's Hood. However this is a very late game item, being a boss reward from a DLC boss (and a hard one at that). Its also heavy and ugly. Besides that crown, nothing truly competes with the Hexer's Hood mechanically. +10% spell uses is alright, until you realize it rounds up and then it just becomes insane. With enough ATN to cast Soul Spear 3 times (easy to achieve in the mid game), Hexer's hood provides 33% extra uses of Soul Spear because it rounds 0.3 up to 1.0 extra casts. And it does this for every. spell slot. you have. Hexer's Hood also provides +1 INT and +1 FAI because it def needed it. (Note that the Saint's Hood also has that same unique passive, but its much harder to get, acquired far later into the game, and fails to provide +1INT, and is therefore a strict mechanical downgrade in exchange for a fashion upgrade). Oh and hexer's hood available super early on as long as you are willing to either kill an NPC for it or level FAI up enough to have said NPC give it to you (with the option to Soul Vessel back to pure sorcery after). Runners up for headgear after that include the Black Witch Hat (+1 spell slot) and the Black Hood (big chunk of bonus cast speed as well as +2 INT/FAI). Both of these also have stellar fashion. There are a few body pieces that provide substantially smaller benefits like the lion mage gear and the northwarder set. Lion Mage armor looks so disgusting and the benefit is so small I ignore it, and the northwarder set's bonus is potent but extremely narrow, and basically only useful for filthy swordmages who use weapon buffs, and even then only if you need the bonus duration to actually maintain a buff from bonfire to bonfire. Northwarder's fashion is good tho so sometimes I throw it on even if the passive does nothing for me. Last little thing: don't forget about pyromancies! Generally direct damage pyromancies will be inferior to your sorceries because of your slightly lower fire BNS and the general worse-ness of pyromancy direct damage spells themselves, but pyromancy also comes with utility you can and should absolutely take advantage of. Notable spells are Warmth (healing to supplament estus), flash sweat (to help vs fire damage bosses and the platforming challenges in iron keep), and toxic mist (awesome damage source vs big, beefy enemies like in the dragon shrine). Also some bosses like the Blueberry have such high magic resist you should at least see what pyormancies can do against them on your character. That's all from me, shout out to u/TheHittite again for their awesome Sorcery Guide. Its linked at the top, go read it, go appreciate it, go learn from it. Oh, and I guess the stuff I wrote here is useful too. TL;DR read the linked guide, level ATN like its going out of style, and wear the hexer's hood for the mechanical buff, but know that you have sold your soul--or rather your fashion sense--to get it. Also, pyromancies exist [link] [comments] |
Posted: 12 Jun 2020 07:26 AM PDT What's the best starting class for a 50INT/50FTH hexer? I only want to level those, some VIG, END, ADP, DEX for a dark rapier and obviously ATT [link] [comments] |
Posted: 11 Jun 2020 07:02 PM PDT Ok so I'm doing a bows run. This is pretty much the first time I've really used bows in a souls game (aside from cheesing the maneater or the drake sword lol) and man these poison arrows are making everything a joke! Pretty much every boss has become comical. I hop in, shoot em a few times, then just dodge their attacks until they die... And same goes for the npc invaders... I'm gonna have to try these on Tsorig in ds3. [link] [comments] |
