A Tale of Friendship and Sorrow

    Posted: 23 May 2020 04:56 AM PDT

So there I was at the Sinner's Rise, just doing some co-op & chill. This guy who was clearly a beginner summoned me, we went down slowly all the way to the Sinner, watched the cutscene. Chill times. Then he died pretty fast despite my efforts to tank the Sinner. I put the sign down again, the same person summoned me again. On our way down on the elevator, I did a pumped up gesture to encourage him, and he got excited and responded by doing a lil shimmy and attacking... Which made him fall off the elevator and die. He summoned me again a couple minutes later and greeted me with a warcry. I bowed. By the time we went down the stairs, I was still giggling my ass off at his death while dodging royal swordsman attacks. We went down the elevator again doing gestures that would definitely never kill us. Then he got blown up by a mummy while I was fighting the sentry and he never summoned me again. Farewell, friend.

Anyone interested in helping me get rat tails? I've been waiting in Doors to Pharos and Grave of Saints for so long and only ran into one person. I need 30 more tails to get rank 3. Will glady return favor or go tail for tail or help with anythint else. Normally I'd do it legit but not enough online

I just finished my 85 hour playthrough. All 41 bosses killed. Damn it feels good.

    Posted: 23 May 2020 06:48 AM PDT

This is the second game I finished in the series (the first being DaS1) and man I am so happy. I had so much fun playing this game, and I was frankly surprised at how much hate this game got on release. Yes it has it lowpoints and annoying areas (Im looking at you Frigid Outskirts), but so did DaS1. Yes some of the bosses are a joke in this game, but it also had some of the best in the series: Fume Knight, Burnt Ivory King, and the Looking Glass Knight being my favorite. I urge those that havent completed this game to give it another chance, and ascend to the the Throne of Want! Anyways, now Im on to beat every boss in DaS3, and praise the sun!

So excited to finally call this cosplay finished! Nearly every part of the costume was made by me and was started back in March. I couldn't be happier with how it turned out!

Let me know what you think! Happy to answer any questions.

    Is this normal?

    Posted: 23 May 2020 01:12 PM PDT

So I got sotfs for 360. When I got to hiede's tower of flame there were no hiede knights. After getting destroyed I went to the forest of fallen giants and there was no ogre when I got there. No ironclad on the pursuer bridge. Are these things normal?

My Partner Defeated Dark Lurker Quicker Than Me

    Posted: 23 May 2020 11:09 AM PDT

I got my partner playing Dark Souls. We started on DS3 together and did majority of the bosses together. I said he should attempt Nameless King on his own. With his determination, he downed him. We pushed through DS1. Now, he started DS2 a few weeks ago.

This morning, he downed Dark Lurker on his fourth try. It took me at least twelve attempts. I ended up doing a Pyro build to cheese, and he simply used a melee build I'm so proud of him and he is going for the platinum! :)

Now we are gonna tackle the DS2 DLC together. Seems now I need to git gut

Should I take another crack at DS2?

    Posted: 23 May 2020 01:47 PM PDT

So some background: I originally played DS2 on PS3 during the initial release, before the update that changed up a lot of things to my understanding, including putting a cyclops in the Forest of Fallen Giants' opening. I beat it twice if I remember correctly, and while I do think DS2 had the best variety of all 3 games, there were a couple things that just kinda ruined the whole thing for me, and has it currently placed in my personal list of worst DS game. Those things boiled down to:

    1. Tracking attacks where enemy attacks would hit you even if you visually dodged out of the way like but not limited to the overhead swings from the giant swordsmen.

    2. Player invasions while hollow. It may have just been bad luck but these are specifically what made me quit altogether, after being killed repeatedly by an invader way above my skill level repeatedly in 2 different areas. I must have been invaded 6 times back to back in each area before so much as reaching the next bonfire, fully hollowed out.

    3. This honestly hinges off the previous issue, but the toxic invader community that used weapons purely meant for PVP that broke poise easily in early game areas. Nothing quite like getting ruined by rapier spam after leaving Medulla while trying to work with a broadsword or a club.

Given that I played it so early and without any of the DLC I wanted to see if folks that actually enjoy the game think I should give it another go on the Steam version. Are the things mentioned above still really apparent or have they been patched/lessened by a dwindled player base? I know I could just turn off the internet connection now to resolve 2 & 3, but I'd rather not miss out on all the MP content just because of shit luck and BM.

    Question for the elites

    Posted: 23 May 2020 01:17 PM PDT

Hey, so I have a question for you great ones. Why is it when a noob, such as myself, askes a question about say souls, or weapons, I get the canned, totally condescending answer of (insert snobby teacher voice here) "Well you start with the broadsword if you played the perfect best class of knight, and you can beat the game with just the broadsword no problem. Did you not start with 400 million souls like the rest of us did? No, ha..he ha ha. Git gud scub. "?

Its been kind of the general response here. I get saying that broadsword is good, but its good when you want to challenge yourself on an alt. Your primary character wouldnt dream of using that starting weapon. No one ever creamed their pants over starting with a broadsword. No one ever jumped for joy over the broadsword on starting a dark souls game. So why would you EVER suggest using it long term when you yourself, WOULDNT DO IT.

You dont hear about the great broadsword. You hear people going Zweihander this or claymore that. OR Greatdildo that.

Stop suggesting things that are going to make new players miserable and actually like, help out instead of being a little bitch about it. I get that there are two hundred BILLION new posts like theirs or mine daily. But thats new players, who come to reddit, or like me did some research and never found an straight answer and then came to reddit. Your tired of seeing posts? Dont respond. And if you do, please be helpful. dont be a douchbag.

    "Press start button" doesn't work

    Posted: 23 May 2020 01:06 PM PDT

Hi, sorry if this isn't the place to ask, if it isn't please redirect me where I should do so, but I've been trying to play this game for hours on my pc and I can't find my particular problem online.

So I start the game, logos go by and all's good, then I get to the "Press start button" flashing white menu. There is no sound. I click my mouse, the text turns grey and then... nothing. the screen hasn't frozen, I can still move the cursor around, but no matter how long I wait nothing happens. I tried reinstalling the game and it didn't fix it and I can't seem to find anyone with the same problem online.

    Can someone please help me?

3 casts of Yearn or 3 Alluring Skulls and neither the fodder infantry nor the snipers nor that one Fume Sorceress will ever target you again on your way to the Blue Smelter Demon.

As for the Big Blue Boss: Dispelling Ring + Spell Quartz Ring and the damage becomes managable. Add to that 60 casts of Dark Orb and you have nothing to fear.

    DS2 DLC/Final boss order

    Posted: 23 May 2020 10:19 AM PDT

So I'm playing DS2 for the first time, and my current plan is DLC->Vendrick-> final boss(es). But I also want to get RoB+2. Would I be screwing myself out of the secret ending if I go Nash->Ascetic->DLC->Vendrick->Aldia
