I killed a single Falconer 1055 times (so you don't have to) Posted: 21 May 2020 12:01 PM PDT https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1PYRQl45HyVMZpCrIDZ7mkzkV388E_xGl-HMnrMpe2Ag/edit?usp=sharing The original plan was to only kill him 1000 times, but I was in a huge dry spell near the end and wanted to make sure he hadn't stopped dropping medals entirely. Item Discovery Gear: Symbol of Avarice, Watchdragon Parma, Covetous Gold Serpent Ring +2 Total Falconer Helms Collected: 1 Total Falconer Armor Collected: 1 Total Falconer Boots Collected: 1 Total Falconer Gloves Collected: 1 Total Golden Falcon Shields Collected: 1 Total Sunlight Medals collected: 38 Sunlight Medal Drop Rate: 3.6% Sunlight Medal Drop Rate if I'd stopped at 30 Medals: 4.58% Sunlight Medal Drop Rate if I'd stopped at 500 kills: 3.8% Longest Dry Spell: 249 [link] [comments] |
Sorcery Unlocked Auto-Targeting? Posted: 20 May 2020 07:11 PM PDT So I was murdering unsuspecting Falconers in Tseldora, as you do, when I noticed my Soul Spear pulling some pretty sharp banking maneuvers to hit the guy. Now, I'd seen that happen before on evasive enemies like the Lost Sinner, but the difference this time was that I wasn't locked on. I was under the impression that it only tracked your target if you were locked on. Some minor experimentation ensued. Results are not exhaustive and need more testing.
Interesting? Maybe. Useless? Probably. Tell me what you think. [link] [comments] |
Something about the King's Ring Posted: 21 May 2020 07:31 AM PDT I finally got the King's Ring last night, and immediately rushed to the throne watcher/defender fight. Seeing all the bloodstains I knew that there must be some baddies down there, most likely the two stone statues coming to life. I put on the ring by the bonfire so I wouldn't have to worry about doing it in the middle of the fight. I went down, prepared for the ambush, but it never came. After the boss battle, when I was walking back to the bonfire, they came to life, as I didn't have the ring on. I tested this in 3 other places. In the Forgotten Room bonfire. None of the statues that come to life seem to aggro. The horse statues in the boss rush to the Looking Glass Knight do still aggro. Also, the Syan soldiers guarding the other King's doors still aggro. So, not as helpful unless you're wandering through Dranglaic castle again, but it could definitely save some time when going to meet Welleger or the Queen. tldr: The King's Ring stops the stone statues from coming to life in Dranglaic Castle. Posted: 21 May 2020 05:54 AM PDT Ps4 player here, bought other 2 souls games and bloodborne and thoroughly enjoyed them. I have some change and with debating to buy Ds2: SotFS however still not sure as I dont know if the player base is still at a level where the games pvp is still enjoyable. Any points? Posted: 21 May 2020 08:30 AM PDT Ok, so some more playing around with things from my post yesterday. I tested out every spell I had and could think of and there's some interesting results. I don't have anyone with Crystal Soul Spear or Great Chaos Fireball, so those couldn't be tested. But I doubt they'd be too different than the Soul Spear or Great Fireball/Forbidden Sun.
Weapons with special attacks are a tossup whether they auto target or not. I tried as many as I could think of/get.

Your favourite, least favourite, hardest and easiest bosses? Posted: 21 May 2020 07:07 AM PDT My favourite is Fume Knight. I love fighting this knight with the sword bigger than him. and dodging his attacks are so satisfying. And while he's one of the hardest bosses he's completely fair, which i love. My least favourite is Lud and Zallen for being utter bullshit, the only mechanic that balances the gank is the 2nd kitten spawns when the 1st has half health and that's it, not to mention the terrible area you have to go through to fight them and if you die you have to spend 8 minutes just running through that god awful area again. Sometimes the dicks will just attack you at the same time, making you take damage from an unavoidable attack . In conclusion this and bed of chaos are some of the worst bosses i've ever fought in a video game, i get you're supposed to fight them co-op but the NPC summons are useless and I never see a player summon sign. The hardest is also Lud and Zallen because they kill your sanity faster than they kill you. The easiest for me is prowling magus, for a room full of enemies it's sure one of the easiest enemy ganks in the game, the spider trap before them is harder lol. The only threat in the fight is the miracle casters and once you kill them it's a almost an automatic W. [link] [comments] |
Torturing Maldron the Assassin Posted: 21 May 2020 12:29 PM PDT I was passing by the Brume Tower yesterday and it occurred to me that capturing some snuff footage of torturing Maldron the Assassin could bring about profound therapeutic impact on the curse-bearing community of Drangleic. I hope this marginally ameliorates the soul wrenching wounds this cheating SOB has inflicted on you and brings to you some sense of closure. This is NG+ and I initially spent some time trying to one-shot him with Lingering Flame, Climax and whatnot, but in vain. But then again, a slow, painful, hopeless death where he gets time to contemplate on the numerous reprehensible deeds of his past seemed more befitting. I apologize if the video looks like a pathetically poor attempt at ripping off of the ymfah School of Creativity; please understand that I have no creativity of my own. [link] [comments] |
Dark Souls 2 has the best rolling mechanics Posted: 21 May 2020 11:12 AM PDT Of all the complaints levied against Dark Souls 2, Agility is perhaps the best example of "I hate this because it isn't how DS1 worked". I believe that, if looked at critically, the Dark Soils 2 roll mechanics are superior to the systems used in its sister games. In Dark Souls 1, the game has 3 (4 with ring) pre-set rolls: fast roll, midroll, and fat roll. Every character with the same roll has the exact same roll, same duration, distance, stamina cost, and I-frames. Which roll you have is determined by 1 thing: your equipment %. Not only that but each roll has a range of equipment %s that all result in that exact same roll. Those same equipment %s also determine stamina regeneration in a similar fashion: your bracket gives you one of a few hard-coded regen speeds. Dark Souls 3 takes this system and simplifies it further by removing the midroll. Dark Souls 2 takes more than half of those pre-set statistics and puts them directly into the hands of the player to custom tailor to their player. Every roll under 70% is the same total length of time, but the distance you travel, the iframes you have, and the rate at which you regenerate stamina, are all totally under your control. Agility lets you decide exactly how many iframes you want, at a cost (levels into ADP). Your equipment % gives linear--not bracketed--progression on roll distance and on stamina regen, and because every roll takes the same total frames, the farther you go, the faster you go as well. The level of curation you can do to your roll in DS2 is honestly impressive, and I find it a massive shame that people totally reject this system simply because Agility is inadequately explained in game. This syatem is a massive improvement over both Dark Souls 1's and Dark Souls 3's systems. [link] [comments] |
I misjudged Dark Souls 2, and I'm sorry. Posted: 21 May 2020 11:11 AM PDT My first time through SotFS was bad. Especially towards the end. I dropped the game for years after beating it once. Now coming back to it, I will say I've been having a lot more fun playing a STR build hitting things with the great club. The pancake maker is as fun as it always is. I'm gonna try and clear all the DLCs this time. Get the crowns. I still have some gripes, but not nearly as many as before. So I'm sorry DS2, you aren't as bad as I made you out to be. This has been bugging me, need confirmation. Posted: 21 May 2020 10:38 AM PDT So, just to stick it to the game that has quite literally stuck it to me so many times: Am I the idiot that's missing something here, or does the geography/physics of Iron Keep make absolutely no sense? So I went through Earthen Peak (that picturesque little shithole), killed Blob Boy, worked my way up to what I thought was pretty much the top of the windmill, and through Mytha. I then get in the elevator after the boss fight and expect to be taken down to the bottom of the structure or some creepy terror basement because, y'know, top floor, but instead it takes me up? Is there more to the windmill? Nope. Lava ocean. Sinking cathedral. Fire Fatties. All apparently in the sky???? Someone want to enlighten me here? [link] [comments] |
Today I officially cheesed a boss Posted: 21 May 2020 02:27 AM PDT Welp I became a casul and cheesed a boss! Today I used a lucatiel as a tank against the smelter demon and surprisingly she survived, well I guess I'm getting that achievement after all . Anyways I got killed a second time and noticed my adaptability is low so that's why I can't effectively roll out of the way, so I cheesed it got all my spells and started blasting away. So at the end of the day I won , but at what cost ? my pride!! [link] [comments] |
I just got 2 drops of Dragon Bones from the Ice Horses. Posted: 21 May 2020 09:27 AM PDT Ok, so backstory: Was relaxing in the Frigid Outskirts, smacking some Ice Horses around when suddenly I saw something "glow" in the eyesburning snow. I went to look what it was and it turned out to be Dragon Bones! And it happened a second time too! Never knew that those Ice Horses drop something for the host player. TIL [link] [comments] |
TIL: you dont need branch of yore to get to the 2 ogres for the laddle Posted: 21 May 2020 01:12 AM PDT Turns out you can snipe them with a bow from the backstab tutorial area instead of everything dangerous getting to them. GG EZ [link] [comments] |
Looking for Red Lion Warrior Cape. Posted: 21 May 2020 01:07 PM PDT I just defeated the red lion and saw the cape drop, he killed me at the same time tho. Does anyone have one they could trade? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 21 May 2020 12:54 PM PDT I just finished my 100% trophy run on DS3, so now I've moved on to DS2 and I'm trying to go in as blind as possible. Any little tips anyone can give without spoiling too much would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. [link] [comments] |
The smelter hammer is the most fun weapon I've got to use, by far Posted: 21 May 2020 12:24 PM PDT Smelter hammer, aka huge chicken leg, is so much fun I regret not playing around with it earlier Thats it, have a great day/night ya'll :) [link] [comments] |
Can’t get through lost Bastille Posted: 21 May 2020 08:21 AM PDT I'd say I'm pretty good at souls games, I was able to beat dark souls 1 and 3 and sekiro shadows die twice with out that many problems, but dark souls 2 is beating me down. I am on lost Bastille and can't get anywhere. The overall handling of the game feels different and weird and I'm not a fan of it, the level design is also a lot more confusing than in previous games especially in this area. There's so many different doors and secret walls and bonfires that are hard to access or find and it's really starting to annoy me. I tried going through the lost sinner but after many tries I can't beat him because I can't see what he's doing (yes I know you can light up the room) so I tried going through the ruin sentinels but I can't even beat them. Does anyone have any tips or help before I put down this game for good? [link] [comments] |
First replay: forgot how hilariously frustrating Earthen Peak is Posted: 20 May 2020 03:42 PM PDT So much poison, ninja mannequins everywhere, every chest is a trap, and to top it all off just wasted a Pharros Lockstone before being devoured by a Mimic. So many rage quits because of this place my first playthrough years ago, but now being an experienced souls player I can really appreciate how dubious this place is. [link] [comments] |
A subtle-ish thing that really bothers me Posted: 21 May 2020 11:58 AM PDT Unlike Dark Souls 1 and 3, the movement and build of your character in DS2 does not seem to vary between male and female. The shoulder width and movement of my female character feels so masculine and it really annoys me. Anyone else? [link] [comments] |
Help getting summoning to work Posted: 21 May 2020 08:03 AM PDT My friend and I for the lives of us just cannot get summoning to work between us. I've looked into soft banning, neither of us are affected, we SHOULD be on the same server because the deaths match, and we can each summon other people and have been summoned but not with each other. Our levels and soul memory are in the same tier as well. I've literally checked everything I can possibly think of. Any assistance would be appreciated. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 21 May 2020 11:44 AM PDT My plan for doing no death on ng+ couldn't have gone worse. Fucking falconers... anyway, like the title says, I'm taking a break. Not from dark souls in particular, just a break from no death. The stress was getting to me, was losing sleep over it. I definitely think I deserve a break, after all those failed attempts. But if anyone has any advice for my next attempt, feel free to tell me and I'll try them. Signed, that other guy, doing that less impressive run. [link] [comments] |
Is it possible to delay Looking Glass Knight's second phase? Posted: 21 May 2020 07:55 AM PDT It happened to me in my practice against him. Are there any way to repeat this consistently? Any of you found a consistent way of doing it? EDIT: I dont have enough poise damage or dps(using crossbow) to finish him off outright in his summoning animation. I can hit him like two-three times before his animation ends, but doing jack shit damage. Today, my first ever succesful attempt against him, I did as always: baait out ranged attacks and stay far. Until now, he summoned at twl third of his health. But now, he just spammed ranged attacks and only summoned in his last third of his healthbar. My damage was worse(used magic bolts, switched to lightning) then before, so idk what caused it to happen. [link] [comments] |
Dark Souls 2 Reference to Greek Mythology (shocking i know) Posted: 20 May 2020 07:55 PM PDT OK so first I just want to say that this may already have been noticed before and could be common knowledge amongst the community. at any rate, it was new to me. So I was just reading the Robin Waterfield book "The Greek Myths" and I arrived at the tale of how Zeus defeats the Giants using the help of Heracles since the Gods can only defeat them with the help of a mortal. As is common in most Greek myths there are multiple versions of every tale, but the version stated here (the first time I've heard it told this way) is that, in order to use Heracles in the God vs. Giant war, Zeus must grab him and bring him back through time. So there we have an instance of a hero travelling back in time to defeat the Giants. I'm sure you can see where I am going with this. To take it further, Heracles not only defeats the strongest of the Giants in Alcyoneus but also defeats the leader of the Giants in Porphyrion. I am making the connection to an, as of yet, unknown hero travelling back through time in order to defeat the Giant scourge and leader. Sounds to me, whether intentionally or not, very similar to the bearer of the curse travelling back in time to defeat the Giant Lord. I attached a link to the book I'm referring to: [link] [comments] |
I need some siegbrau after this area Posted: 21 May 2020 11:16 AM PDT I'm playing ds2 for the first time ever. Haven't read anything about it or watched anything. So everything is a suprise... So first I walked into harvest valley and Damn poison is a b****, unlike ds3 this stuff kills damn. Then I get to earthen peak, and those rogue boys really know how to set your mood. I never rage quite while gaming, but this got me really close. Gonna enjoy a nice cold siegbrau now to cool off. Just wanted to share [link] [comments] |
