- [Spoiler] I was just thinking about my first (and only playthrough), and damn is it frightening when Lautrec kills the firekeeper. Not having the shrine bonfire until killing him put me so on edge. Firelink is the only safe place, and without the bonfire, it isn’t a resting place anymore.

Posted: 10 Apr 2020 10:35 PM PDT I got the trilogy a few months ago. Started DSR, then stopped shortly after because Xbox did a 3 months/$1 deal for Games Pass so I got sidetracked as I knew DS would always be here waiting for me. When I started, I was confused as all hell. I had played RPGs before, so I wasn't new to the premise. And I had maxed out Sekiro, so I had experience in terms of the difficulty. But still, it just felt weird to me. Fast forward to a few days ago, I pick it up again. I'm at the bridge with the dragon leading to Undead Burg. Still confused as hell. But as I went, things started to click! I did some more reading on how to focus my stat upgrades based on the play-style I want, and it made sense! Earlier today I defeated the Bell Gargoyles, and am now obsessed with this game. Everything is coming into focus, and as the title says, I get it. I get the hype. I get the fanaticism. I can not wait to continue with this game and move through the series in preparation for Elden Ring! [link] [comments] |
Dark Souls fan art: Black Dragon Kalameet Posted: 10 Apr 2020 08:23 AM PDT Hello guys! I made fan work of my favorite boss from Dark Souls series. In my opinion he is most hardest boss in a game. Hope you like it! :) https://www.artstation.com/artwork/xzg8vm [link] [comments] |
A tale of motivation regained and conquered Posted: 10 Apr 2020 03:37 PM PDT A month or so ago, before all this craziness of staying indoors I was attempting dark souls for the first time. I played it for the first time on the eve of the new decade on 31st December 2019. I was hesitant to pick up the game due to it's mystique of challenge, something i had struggled with in even the most basic of games. I started to have fun and progressed though the game at my own pace, but hit a wall at O&S. Partly I was tilted due to multiple hostile invasions which i had yet to accept as a part of the game. The challenge of the boss had surpassed it's ingenious design and i was quickly loosing any motivation to continue. I posted here asking for advice. What i received was a wave of encouraging responses the likes of while i had not expected. I was ready to be billeted and called a noob, but instead found comrades who encouraged me on and to not go hollow. A friend of mine, who had followed my journey up to this point saw my struggle and I finally managed to beat O&S all be it with some jolly co-operation. From there on it was a ride of a lifetime. Recently I finished dark souls. I beat all the bosses in the game, including the optional ones and the ones in the DLC and all were challenges i faced alone, without the need for any jolly co-operation to come save me. Thank you souls community, you kept me from going hollow and kept me going which meant a lot to me, not just in terms of finishing this game, but also go though what i was going though in my life. So this isnt a post about me being bashful about finishing the game, but rather a post about how you saved this soul from going hollow. This is your victor as much as it is mine. [link] [comments] |
I did it! 100% achievements in Dark Souls! Posted: 10 Apr 2020 06:35 AM PDT https://imgur.com/gallery/RgOnFAV This is actually my first ever 100% in a video game, achieved on the original prepare to die edition. In-game my character has 99 hours and 19 minutes but well.. considering the number of times I died throughout the game and afk to search online for guides... 108 hours sounds about right! I originally had the base game on PS3, completed it and bought the prepare to die edition on steam. During the end of 2014 completed my PC playthrough and sometime during 2015 I decided to go for full 100% achievements. At that time I managed to get some of the achievements but looking at how I needed at least NG+2 to get all achievements I took a break then. Fast forward to the start of this year, I once again decided to complete as much as I can. Reaching NG+ DLC, getting all magic and upgrades before stopping due to university. Now that I finally returned, I finished up NG+, moving on to NG+2 and got all miracles as well as last few boss souls. Gwyndolin and Sif, Poor Sif... Anyway, well.. post NG, the enemies felt like they hit really hard. A 2 full hits from bosses and I am certainly dead most of the time. In the DLC,Artorias at NG+ is brutal and fun, I never managed to get Kalamet tailcut still... I remember face tanking Magnus in the first playthrough but at NG+ I just get ragdolled over and over again. I lost numerous times to Gwyn in NG+ due to being rusty and well not skilled anyways. O&S NG+ and NG+2 solo wasn't too bad, it was nice seeing how much I progressed. Still, I REALLY HATE BED OF CHAOS. The number of times I died and the amount of frustration I faced is probably the highest there. I will probably get the remastered edition next time. This time I will try out a magic build or something else. Maybe a SL1 playthrough. For the past playthroughs, I been using Claymore and Balder side sword, It would be nice to try something new! Anyway thanks for reading all. For those who are stuck at bosses or areas, don't give up skeleton! [link] [comments] |

I CUT OFF KALAMEET'S TAIL IN NG+!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Posted: 10 Apr 2020 02:13 PM PDT No that's it. That's all I had to say. Damn I feel so happy right now. You can delete this post now! :) [link] [comments] |
Are DSR or SOTFS worth it just to play souls in 60fps? Posted: 10 Apr 2020 09:48 PM PDT I've played all three dark souls games, but all of my experiences with them were in 30 fps. I dont own any of the souls games anymore since I lost 1 and 2, then 3 got broken. Should I buy DSR or SOTFS since they're on sale for 15.99 and 9.99 respectively? [link] [comments] |
TIL that Manus and Artorias have headshot animations Posted: 10 Apr 2020 10:39 PM PDT Doing a bow-only run, and I was pleasantly surprised to discover that bosses such as Artorias and Manus have unique stagger animations for if you manage to land a headshot (it instantly knocks Arty out of his buffing too!). Probably isn't news to everyone, but I'm sure most players have never whipped out a bow in either of these fights and it's amazing to me that the devs included these little details for those who choose the path of the archer :) [link] [comments] |

For my Cake Day I am posting in some of my Favorite (and least Favorite) Subs Posted: 11 Apr 2020 03:01 AM PDT This is one of my Favs. I wanted to ask those of you who play on PC, do you use a controller or do you use mouse and Keyboard? I'm stuck at the beginning of the game basically. I suck hardcore and am looking for anything to help me progress. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 10 Apr 2020 06:17 PM PDT Who do you believe what right? Gwyn for creating the cycle and a religion to uphold it, or those who wanted to change the fate of the humans causing the age of dark? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 10 Apr 2020 03:32 PM PDT So I'll say right off the bat that I love this area and that the punishing/rewarding aspect of it perfectly exemplifies the FromSoftware model. Saying that, I'm not entirely sure where it fits into the lore/world of the game. I have a feeling it served a similar purpose as a certain area of Demons Souls where the diseased and decrepit were outcast. Gameplay-wise it's of course to prepare the player for Lost Izalith, but I'm not sure what the in-game explanation of this labyrinth of noob-punishment is? [link] [comments] |
Friend's playthroughs keep ending in game-breaking bugs. Can anyone offer some insight? Posted: 10 Apr 2020 09:24 PM PDT I'm hoping someone in the community might be able to shed some light on an issue a friend of mine is having with Dark Souls: Remastered. She has been playing through for the first time over the last few weeks, and her game keeps breaking in what seems to be multiple ways at once. The first time, she has made it about 45 hours in. Seigmeyer had glitched out and refused to speak, but other than that, we noticed nothing wrong. Until Tomb of the Giants. She made it to the first bonfire and quit for the day (not a force quit, everything normal as far we know). She also was not human at this time, or at any point during Tomb of the Giants. When she loaded to play again, she was at the entrance to the Tomb (right after Pinwheel). No enemies would attack her, and she could not attack them. Bonfires were unlit, and she could not light them. So, she jumped off a ledge. When she respawned, she was at what we eventually figured out was the first Oolacile Bonfire (in the tunnel). She attempted to warp to Firelink and was instead transported to the Battle of Stoicism Gazebo. She had not done any part of the DLC, so she didn't have a purple coward's crystal. She couldn't leave in any way, so she deleted the file and started over. We were willing to write it off as an unfortunate one-time thing, since we read about this being a super rare glitch that had happened to others before. She completely wiped the file and restarted. There were some early warning signs that things might not go entirely right - Snuggly wouldn't talk, for instance, but nothing game-breaking. But then, ten hours into her next attempt at playing the game, she killed the hydra, went to the main menu, and reloaded to bring up the golden crystal golem. When she loaded back in, she was at the beginning of Darkroot Garden (just past Andre). She still had the items she had picked up while running through the area, but they were also in their normal places on the ground, allowing her to pick them up again. After some wandering, we discovered the door to Havel's watchtower was closed and could not be opened. She ran back to Firelink and found Big Hat Logan, despite having not come close to unlocking Sen's Fortress yet. She deleted that file and reinstalled the game, but is nervous about doing the first part again to have the same result a third time. I'm not really all that knowledgeable about what could be causing it, but I would like to be able to keep playing with her, so I'm hoping that someone a little more knowledgeable might have some ideas for us. I've tried to do some research into it. We found instances of the first thing happening before, but I can't find much relating to the second incident. Does anyone have an idea about what could possibly be causing this? I've never had anything like this happen to me or another player I know, much less happen twice in a row, so I'm concerned it's something system-related. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 11 Apr 2020 12:25 AM PDT What is a build a new player should use? Like a build that just captures the true essence of the beautiful game. I heard someone say the warrior class but I just want to know what build to make in order to get the true dark souls experience. [link] [comments] |

First time. Kinda sucked. Almost gave up and now I’m on the Bell Gargoyle. TOUGH. OWIE. Posted: 10 Apr 2020 11:15 AM PDT This is the part where you really, git gud. He's actually pretty easy. But when his homie shows up and starts spitting fire, that screws me over. Getting my ass kicked but loving it. Got the same treatment in Bloodborne. This is fun. I enjoy BB's offensive nature more. But that's not to say I dislike DS. Imo you play DS for the bosses, not the areas in between (at least so far, I'm most likely in for a pleasant surprise 😄) [link] [comments] |

Posted: 10 Apr 2020 10:20 PM PDT How do I get Solairs armor without killing him? I want to do a warrior of sunlight run where I help out people through the game like solair would. But I don't want to kill him [link] [comments] |
Posted: 10 Apr 2020 06:35 PM PDT So I've completed dark souls 3 awhile back and I've wanted to play through it again but forgot where everything is and where to go. I watch a walkthrough when I first beat it but I don't like having to keep skipping the video back and forth. So I'm asking if anyone has good written guides please let me know I'm having trouble looking for one. Thanks and praise the sun. [link] [comments] |
