    Why I wouldn't mind a Dark Souls 4

    Posted: 16 Mar 2020 10:13 AM PDT

Ordinarily, I'd be content with a series ending in a third game, but in my humble and unpopular opinion, I was not satisfied with either of the sequels we got. Demon's Souls, Dark Souls, and Bloodborne still reign supreme in my opinion. Dark Souls II and III were very disappointing to me. It's been 9 years since the first game, and I have still not had that itched scratched.

Dark Souls II was a good game that was marred by severe technical problems, piss-easy bosses, generic world and level design, as well as an over-reliance on ambushes and endless waves of mobs.

Dark Souls III was too fast-paced and horror-themed. I don't like how light the character is. I miss my slow, tanky, poise monster from the first game, and that guy just does not exist any more. I miss the slow methodical combat as opposed to the reflex test that Dark Souls III is. Dark Souls III's level design is better than II's, and the world is better aesthetically, but not in terms of gameplay. Branching paths and entering areas in random orders or going for equipment/item runs just doesn't exist anymore. For a Dark Souls game, it does not feel carefully considered. It feels like a game that no one wanted to make.

I'm just sitting here on my fatass wondering what went wrong and if Dark Souls IV would even try to go back to Dark Souls 1's style.

Dark Souls 1 character creator screen music theme

    Posted: 16 Mar 2020 06:02 AM PDT

I know this is out of the blue but goddamn how zen and lukewarm is the music for the character creation tab. I've been using it as study music and it works so well for reading, remembering and writing essays. I know some video games have mad soundtracks but this coming from Dark Souls, a game where its anything but zen and lukewarm is astonishing. It's all so very deep to me you know. A bit eerie. Nevertheless, music like this is rare from video games and I appreciate it for all it means to me and others here.

    Dark souls lore is enthralling

    Posted: 16 Mar 2020 02:45 PM PDT

Im going heavy into research for a video project I'm working and the deeper i go the more it's clear just how much work they put into the fine details of the story.

The first several times i played through i basically didn't pay attention to it at all, i was more focused on making fun builds and getting that plat trophy. But it got boring at times because I never really knew why i was in some places doing some things.

In terms of visuals and gameplay it was always captivating but i didn't know it had such rich subtext to experience.

Its clear that dark souls is one of the games that can accurately portray gaming as an interactive art form.

My son finally defeated Gwyn! After soooo many tries, perfecting his parrying skills in the final battle, he has done it! He has officially cleared all 3 DS games to join his dad in the honor (albeit in reverse order...)!

50% equip load, sometimes medium roll, sometimes fat roll?

    Posted: 16 Mar 2020 09:47 PM PDT

Was creating another character, using Havel ring with 18 endurance (87.0 equip load max), geared up with full Catarina armor set, a Zwei, and a grass crest shield, bringing it to 43.0 equip load, so I have .5 equip left, right? So I equip a dagger in weapon slot 2, reaching 43.5/87.0 equip load. Now, normally, this results in a mid roll. It even says mid roll when you plug it into the MugenMonkey character creator/calculator, check it for yourself and see if you like. Yet, in game, I went to make this exact character, but when I equip the dagger, and go to 43.5/87/0 equip load, it registers me as fat rolling. I mean...it's not that big of a deal (I just won't use the dagger/.5 equip weight), but I am confused, and wondering if anyone has any insight to share or explanation to give. Is there a reason this is considered fat roll, whereas other 50% equip load characters, are mid roll? Is there something I'm missing? Is this just a...thing that happens sometimes? Well, what is it?

    Need some advice for NG+

    Posted: 17 Mar 2020 03:26 AM PDT

These are my current stats: http://prntscr.com/rhoo2s

During my NG, I mostly played around with faster weapons like the short swords, axes, spears, and settled for the uchi +15 in the end.

I upgraded claymore to +15 in NG+ and have been trying it out so far, and now am thinking what direction I should take my build in, because the leveling has gotten slow. I can't really go towards STR as that would waste away 40 DEX, also the fact that I enjoy a faster playstyle more.

    So,

    1) What are some suggestions to get the most damage output, along with a relatively quick weapon in my current stats?

    2) What skills should I put points in now?

    3) Say I go with the uchi itself, what is the best route to get more damage output from it? A friend said enchanting it would make it scale with INT where I can begin putting my points and that would give me more damage? Right now the damage says 420. What'd be the best way to increase that if I stay with the uchi?

    4) What are the best weapons for a Dex build itself? I might as well decide to keep this character as a Dex build and go with STR based ones in a new game later. So, what are some other great DEX weapons? I tried the Scythe and it literally sucks. There are no chained movesets and it feels slower than STR weapons. Falchion has a little shorter range than I'd want. Any other ideas? I've heard about the swag sword but I don't have it yet. Is it worth it?

Could someone help me transfer a catalyst from one of my characters to another? It would be super helpful! I killed the Fire Sage at the same time as I died and I lost the drop for it. I have the catalyst that drops on another character of mine and I want to transfer it to this character. I'm on psn if anyone is willing to help :)

    New Londo help with items

    Posted: 16 Mar 2020 09:16 PM PDT

So i am currently in lower new londo, in the building with the wooden cubicles. On the top of this building, you get the Very Large Ember in a chest. Keep walking to the edge and look to your left, amd you'll see a body with an item with it? How do I get it? Ive looked at some guides and videos, but none of them even acknowledge the item at all.

Should I get dark souls remastered?

    Posted: 17 Mar 2020 12:56 AM PDT

I stared the series off with dark souls 3 and it was F**K'n sick, I've played it for over 2000hrs and have every trophy and every item in the game I beat it without dying in ng+3 and did both DLCs in ng+4. But I've finished it, played it until I went hollow. So I went further back, expecting dark souls 2 to fill my hollow soul, and it was (opinion warning) shit. The animations felt slow and clunky for both me and the enemies, the bosses I saw were lame and were nothing at all to get past, damn random fog walls I could never cross causing me to be forced to start all over, enemy tracking +100, puddle brain AI that is only a threat with more than five on your nose while the entire us army shoots at you from granny's front porch, curse. I don't hate dark souls 2 but it's not my cup of Siegbräu.

Tl;dr: Should I get dark souls remastered if I dont like dark souls 2 but really liked dark souls 3?

    An detail about Artorias OST

    Posted: 16 Mar 2020 05:17 PM PDT

Did you knew that in one part of the music, there are whispers on the background? I think it shows how Artorias fought against the corruption, then after this part of the soundtrack, the music gets all intense, meaning Artorias lost his fight to the Abyss. Truly an amazing detail.

    I love Vagrants

    Posted: 16 Mar 2020 03:46 PM PDT

I love the little Vagrants so much.

They are so small and their shells look so shiny.

I love the idea of feasting on the remnants of other players.

I love the idea of the items being wrapped up inside the soft inner flesh of my little Vagrants.

But most of all, I just love seeing them scuttle around. It makes me feel. happy.

They tell me what to do.

Like to pick up and hoard everything.

    All of it for them.

    My little Vagrants.

    I love Vagrants

I just started playing ds2 after a long time spent in ds1, and a couple of things are really throwing me off.

    Posted: 16 Mar 2020 06:22 PM PDT

First of all rolling invincibility frames are either gone or greatly reduced. Secondly running out of stamina is so punishing, like as bad as a stun. Thirdly enemies don't reel back when you block with your shield, so when I go to hit them they just finish their combo. Am I doing anything wrong? Or do I just have to adapt to these changes and git gud?
