Doors in Anor Londo are the absolute funniest things in this game.

    Posted: 09 Mar 2020 08:52 PM PDT

Let me clarify here. As an invader, I'm one of those guys that likes to loom ominously in a corner watching you as you run by hoping you notice the huge beefy guy with a large stick but, also hoping you don't since that means I can continue to follow you and loom in different parts of the environment. I love being that inevitable background threat, it's just comedy gold when I do actually show up and decide it's finally time to act.

But the doors in Anor Londo, man. There's just something so absolutely downright hilarious when someone finally reaches their bonfire, opens the door, sees this just standing there waiting for them

    https://imgur.com/a/6aeuqVW

and then just closes the door in a moment of sheer "Nope". It's also just as funny if someone opens a door and I just kind of close it again or if I open the door to the bonfire room, see a phantom rave and just kind of nope out and close it again or, my favorite, me and another player just keep opening and closing the same door. It's these kinds of things that almost make me not want to actually kill the guys I'm invading.

    Almost.

I was muffinator, I was on nintendo switch dark souls. I summoned you in anor londo and you helped me take out some sentinels while I was summoning solaire. I put the message that said "try fatty" so you knew to kill smough first. Solaire was holding off ornstein and we took out smough. After ornstein got superpowered, you helped me kill him and helped me get the Leo ring. Thank you bobafett.

My feelings about Dark Souls Remastered

    Posted: 10 Mar 2020 01:03 AM PDT

-->Asylum Demon [SOLO]: good starter boss, helped me get an idea about boss patterns and how to counter boss moves.

-->Firelink Shrine: My favourite area in game. The theme 'A Moment's Peace' really resonated with me, and was associated with a sense of safety and and respite from the struggle.

--> Taurus Demon [SOLO]: It's like a big bully whom one skittishly avoids but then one day kick his ass

--> Solaire Of Astora : All I have to say is Praise The Sun!

--> Andre Of Astora : He saved my bacon more times than I can remember.

--> Lautrec Of Carim: Gold plated parrying fucktard

--> Seigmeyer Of Catarina: Sleepy Onion Bro, reminds me of myself when I procrastinate.

--> The Channellers and Hollows in the Chapel: Fucking gank squad.

--> Bell Gargoyles [SOLO] : Pretty good check boss. Helped me to rethink strategies and think of changing attack patterns on the fly.

--> Capra Demon & Dogs of Lower Undead Burg: [CHEESED] One of the two bosses I cheesed because of the immense frustration I encountered. Simple put they can go fuck themselves where the sun don't shine.

--> Basilisks: Hyperthyroid asshats. I died to them initially because I didn't understand the mechanics of curse state.

--> Gaping Dragon [SOLO]: Really enjoyable fight. Also, if somebody needs plastic surgery, it's this feller.

--> Blighttown: Fucking toxic sharpshooters. Also, the bloody mosquitoes. Fuck them.

--> Queelag [SOLO]: First time a spider lady turned me on.

--> Sen's Fortress: It ain't that bad once I got the lightning spear. Then, I whipped everyone's ass.

--> Iron Golem [SOLO]: One of the more enjoyable fights. Good music, strong atmosphere.

--> Anor Londo : One of the most beautiful introductory set pieces I have ever seen.

--> Return To Undead Asylum: Piece of Cake. Sorry Oscar, but I had to gut you to survive.

--> Painted Wall Of Ariamis: Hauntingly desolate. Also, fucking bones-on-wheels and crow-men.

--> Crossbreed Priscilla [SOLO]: Very gimmicky but clever boss fight. Managed to cut off her tail.

--> Ornstein & Smough [ Summoned]: Very difficult initially. Soliare helped take off the pressure. Hopefully next time, will be able to do a solo run

Also, Gywnevere's chest is the stuff which occasionally features in confused dreams.

    --> Gywndolin [ SOLO ] : Teleporting ninny.

--> Moonlight Butterfly [SOLO] : Really silly boss in terms of design

--> Sif [SOLO]: The limp gutted me. But neither can live while the other survives.

--> New Londo: Honestly screamed like a sissy when I got gang banged by ghosts. Once I knew the trick of it, then it was almost too easy.

--> Four Kings [SOLO]: No stratagems. Just pure tanking and hoping for the best. Really uninspired boss fight except for the depth perception thing. That was cool.

--> Duke's Archives: Confusing place. Really cool first encounter with Seath. Took me by surprise.

--> Seath The Scaleless [SOLO]: Blind dragon flailing around trying to get in lucky hits.

--> Ceaseless Discharge & Demon Ruins: Really awkward boss fight and the repeating of Taurus Demons and Capra Demons was disappointing.

--> Demon Firesage [SOLO]: Really stupid boss fight. Really dumb.

--> Centipede Demon [CHEESED]: Another nonsensical boss. Really poorly designed. Didn't enjoy this.

--> Lost Izalith : Really disappointed with the area. Having heard so much, was prepared for something grand . All that was left is half eaten dinosaurs and flame throwing statues.

--> Bed Of Chaos [SOLO] :Another frustrating boss. Died because of the awkward gimmick which took some time to understand.

--> Tomb Of Giants: Those skeleton dogs can go fuck themselves.

--> Gravelord Nito [SOLO]: That big red ground pound was initially annoying. But then I sent him packing to the sarcophagus he crawled out.

--> Sanctuary Guardian [SOLO]: Rolling around in water with a lightning spewing cat is not my idea of fun. Really enjoyable fight.

--> Artorias The Abysswalker [SOLO and FIRST TRY]: Boss fight I enjoyed the most. The music, his move set, his punishing reach.

--> Manus, Father Of The Abyss [SOLO and FIRST TRY]: Very enjoyable. His combos were the stuff of nightmares. Barely escaped with a sliver of health and zero estus.

--> Kalameet: The aerial grab and the whole futuristic helmet head was pretty awesome. Really enjoyed pitting myself against it.

--> Gwyn: All is have to say is Plink, Plink, Plink. Also, parried him to death.

And then I linked the flame. Onto New Game Plus!

Also, shout-out to my buddy Laurentius , whose simply exhortation of never giving up really stuck with me.

To those who came before me and those who will come after - DON'T YOU DARE GO HOLLOW!

Beating Dark Souls Remastered with every weapon in the game

    Posted: 09 Mar 2020 06:22 AM PDT

Hello Everyone! I've recently started a sort of challenge with Dark Souls Remastered on PC where I'm trying to do runs where I beat the game (all bosses) as quickly as I can using only a single weapon chosen randomly, and I want to do this with every weapon in the game as defined by the dark souls wiki, I think it adds up to like 138 weapon runs lol. I do these runs over on twitch and then upload them to youtube, both accounts under the name of captainkshulk, so if you want to check me out feel free to do so I stream these runs friday at 6pm EST and then do whatever else I feel like on tuesdays at 6pm EST. I'm new to reddit and am not too involved in the community so I figured I'd put myself out here and try and connect with other people who love this game as much as I do!

would I get judged for using walkthroughs on YouTube to get through the game? I like knowing what I'm doing and I don't like telling people I use walkthroughs cos I might get judged

I fucking love the lil mushroom dudes

    Posted: 09 Mar 2020 09:50 AM PDT

Probably my favourite enemy from all souls games. They're just so cute, I just have to smile everytime they fall.

Why do the men at firelink Shrine keep attacking me

    Posted: 09 Mar 2020 09:12 PM PDT

It's not the Crestfallen soldier. There are 2 guards and a cleric (I think) woman and everytime I set foot near them they attack me? Is there a way I can stop this? I tried cleansing my sins but all that did was waste 17,000 souls

I'm sad that I never got to experience dark souls in its peak

    Posted: 09 Mar 2020 07:18 PM PDT

I just got into dark souls half a year ago, and after immersing myself in the world, memes and community it just makes me sad that I never got the whole experience. Being around for onlyafros videos, for when new things were discovered and everyone was trying to figure out stories. I can't imagine what whoever the first dark wraith was felt having infinite invasions, or the community's response. I love this game, but man it would have been so cool to be around its peak

    Character glowing in the dark

    Posted: 10 Mar 2020 04:59 AM PDT

This is my first time playing ds1 and I kept wondering about the illumination around the character. I have seen a few Reddit posts joking about jellyfish and it plainly being a way of seeing in the dark. It struck me when I was playing the artorias dlc that the colour of the illumination is just like the light being emitted from the humanity sprites. However there doesn't seem to be any difference in the glow whether in human form or hollowed. Slightly off topic, I had also seen posts about bonfires without keepers being lit by the chosen undead and the chosen undead becoming the keeper of these flames. Could it be that it is the humanity gnawing at the soul of the chosen undead that illuminates our path?

Having trouble with the Four Kings on Remastered

    Posted: 09 Mar 2020 05:46 PM PDT

This will be for a one time fight. I have been told Havel's armor makes you unkillable in the fight, but I'm having difficulty getting past them. Their grabs are annoying, and Beatrice and I can't kill the first body before the second one can spawn. On Switch if you want to at least try and help fight them with me.

Edit: Just beat them. Thanks for the tip on Beatrice making them more difficult.

    Tips for second playthrough

    Posted: 10 Mar 2020 12:05 AM PDT

Hi there, as a PC player i stumbled relative late on this great game, started it playing since the remaster. Beat it with a tank type of character, but i relied heavily on shield and heavy armor, only in the later game i could midroll. Now im trying a wanderer, so a more fast paced style, to improve my skill. Im currently using the Uchigatana and the standard armor for this class, but without the gloves so i can fast roll, and i finished the first bell.

My question is mostly for armor, what is a good gear to have decent protection and still be able to fast roll? Or do i even need to fast, is mid roll enough? Im currently trying to not block and rely more on dodging so...

    Thanks!

    The Element of Surprise

    Posted: 09 Mar 2020 10:04 PM PDT

Is there a certain order I should play the 3 parts in?

    Posted: 10 Mar 2020 01:49 AM PDT

I have DS,DS2 and DS3, but I'm not sure if I should go 1 > 2 > 3 or what.. some people say I should start by 3, and some even say that I shouldn't play 2 at all...

What do you guys suggest? Knowing that I care about the story but I don't care about finishing everything in a short time.

Currently doing my first playthrough- stuck at a fog gate in Demon Ruins

    Posted: 09 Mar 2020 02:22 PM PDT

After the group of Capra demons in the Demon Ruins, there's a large archway with a fog gate. I don't know if it's important, but the light has more of a Golden tinge than usual (might just be the warm haze of the area).

Anyway, when I go up to it, instead of giving me a 'traverse' option, there's just 'examine', and doing so brings up a message saying that the way is blocked by the great lord's power. I assume this means Gwynn? (I have picked up a couple spoilers, but all I know about Gwynn is that he would seem to fit that description.)

That would seem to imply that you come back to this area later, maybe towards the end of the game, but I checked the wiki and it just carries on as normal with no mention of this hurdle. And now I'm very confused.

So I'm considering buying the switch version, but I have my doubts

    Posted: 09 Mar 2020 03:02 PM PDT

I usually play games like skyrim, botw, oot, and that genre of action adventure/rpg, so I saw dark souls and thought it looked good, so should I pick it up or will i be wasting 40$

Edit: one of the main things I want to know is if its cryptic and puzzly at all, like you have to do this stupid unknown thing to progress, or is it straight forward beat this guy up to progress

    Finally got "The Dark Soul"

    Posted: 09 Mar 2020 01:24 PM PDT

I feel so good right now. I've been grinding for achievements all days and I finally got all 41 of those bad boys. I haven't felt this satisfied in a while. This was NG+2 and getting that Sif soul felt bad and good at the same time. I cannot play DS3 cuz I got a potato laptop. Hoping to play it soon.

Anyways, I'm also new here and new to dark souls. Gotta say I'm pretty hooked.

Anybody around level 113 available to help with Kalameet’s tail?

    Posted: 09 Mar 2020 06:31 PM PDT

I have been trying all day to get that little bastards tail on my save file and it's not happening!! There haven't been any summon signs around either unfortunately :(

I'd be really grateful if anybody around the area (on new game plus) was willing to help me out.

    Fuck Kalameet

    I'm on PC

What were your favorite challenge runs? What about worst ones? (Any DkS game welcome)

    Posted: 09 Mar 2020 03:42 PM PDT

Trying to get ideas for the future. Just finished my first SL1 run.

Next one is no summon, no shield (except grass crest on back), continuing on NG+3

Considering doing a ranged only run (crossbows and bows)
