Consumed all giant souls still having no effect on Vendrick

    Posted: 31 Mar 2020 10:25 AM PDT

I was able to trigger the Bossfight but my attacks are doing next to no damage, I'm talking like 5 points. Usually I do 150-300 but 5?! I did all of the Giants memories and the dragons. Was I not supposed to consume them?

Just finished my first ever play-through of a souls game and here's my thoughts...

    Posted: 31 Mar 2020 12:11 AM PDT

200 Deaths and about 40 hours later I finally managed to finish the game. I know people keep saying Dark Souls 2 is the worst of the soul series but it is my first one and I think it's fucking amazing!

Tried Dark Souls 1 on my friend's PC and I can definitely see where the hate comes from. I didn't get far in DS1 so I'm not really sure about all the enemies and locations but I can definitely say the mechanics of DS2 are way more unforgiving. Up until very recently I didn't know about Agility and the i-frames made a huge difference and I'm pretty sure most people who just get into the game wouldn't know either, leading to the argument that DS2 has shit hitboxes (to be fair it does have a few though but so did DS1 in the few places that I did go). Stamina is another place where DS 1 is really generous. And don't even get me started about item durability.

A few bosses were lack luster, but a few are very memorable, not always in a good way though (looking at you Belfry Gargoyles). The Pursuer was my very first challenge in this game and beating him made me feel like I'm on top of the world, something that no game has ever made me feel before. I heard the Old Dragonslayer is a boss in DS1 and that he comes paired with a big fat golden boi and that the absence of which makes the fight way easier, but I don't really care though, beating him made my body release so much adrenaline that I thought I was having a seizure for a second! Once I was mentally prepared to die and learn, the game got a lot more fun and I (ironically) started dying less too.

I really loved the subtlety of the story and it really felt immersive. I had to look at item descriptions of every fucking item I came across to put together anything meaningful. I can see why it might be off-putting for some people though, but what did they expect? I can count the number of friendly NPCs on my hands. I'm pretty sure all of them are busy surviving in this world, infamous for giving it's 110% to kill you, to go around spewing lore.

Now, coming over to the topic of ganks... There is no denying it, groups of normal enemies are pretty much impossible to take out without taking a shit ton of damage. The gank bosses are a lot more fair though and are less aggressive, giving the player a chance to attack or heal. But in 99.9% of the cases, theres a way to avoid engaging all of them, be it with spells or bows. I'm guessing ganks were a gameplay design that was intentionally put into the game, an annoying one, sure, but not completely unfair.

All in all this game is a masterpiece imo and I would 10/10 play it again.

How was your first playthrough of DS2?

Mildly interesting overlap between Giant Lord memory and the Pursuer arena.

    Posted: 31 Mar 2020 10:35 AM PDT

I was doing a bit of soul farming at the Giant Lord and was startled to look up and see a piece of armor floating in the air. Clearly it was something I had dropped earlier, but where?

I assumed it was near the same area in game, so warped back to Cardinal Tower and ran to drop a bunch of useless shields in as close to an arrow formation as I could in that little hallway. Well that worked. I dropped a few other pieces on that level as well and while you can't see them in this clip, they do exist.

I just switched over to DS2 after beating the first game and wow, it looks so much better.

    Posted: 31 Mar 2020 02:08 PM PDT

I played the original DS, not remastered, and it looked pixely and crappy, but it looks so amazing with DS2. What other improvements are there?

To anybody who doesn't already know, if you connect to a character named Hitler, alt-f4 IMMMEDIATELY

    Posted: 31 Mar 2020 02:02 PM PDT

I'd heard about this guy before, but I just ran into him for the first time. As soon as I entered the arena, all my gear broke and my file corrupted.

Not a huge deal for me, since I know this game like the back of my hand at this point, but still somewhat annoying.

How this clown is still at this several years on is beyond me. Must be a legitimate sociopath.

What soul level or soul memory is most active right now?

    Posted: 31 Mar 2020 12:06 PM PDT

Recently got back into sotfs and I can't wait to retry the pvp, but my character won't be complete until around ~220 and I remember it being around 150 back when i was playing. I also remember there being a soul memory system in place, and I haven't got a clue which level is most active.

What is the most op build in this game ?

    Posted: 31 Mar 2020 03:37 AM PDT

In DS1 i believe that is Pyromancy and Bloodborne is not really op but best is something like hunter ace with its easy spam attack.

What is that op thing in ds2 ?

I want to finish each souls/borne game with the op thing that its known for.

Also ofc i could just do a glass cannon in each game and it would be better but thats what i mean.

Current Soul Memory for Most Populated PVP?

    Posted: 31 Mar 2020 06:31 AM PDT

It's been a while since I tried to get into DS2 PVP. I've currently got a level 150 character at a soul memory of just over 2 million. Should I start wearing the Agape Ring now or let my SM get higher?

Need help finding a ds2 video please

    Posted: 30 Mar 2020 11:22 PM PDT

There was this youtube video I adored, about a streamer that was consistently invaded throughout the entire game by a hacker spamming magic spells dressed as santa claus, the video had "here comes santa claus" playing whenever he invaded, and the streamer was Hispanic. These are the only details I remember and I genuinely cannot find this video whenever I try to look it up.

Licia the merchant was kinda sketchy tbh

    Posted: 30 Mar 2020 04:57 PM PDT

This may be insignificant but Licia the merchant can be found at the bonfire upstairs one of the dragon riders boss fight at heide's tower. While in dialogue shes going on and on about spread her faith but then muddles her words and says shes here to gull but quickly corrects herself and says help the gullible. If you don't know gull means to deceive so i found that really sketchy. She disappears from that location after a while And i don't think i ever saw her again. If y'all don't mind, i actually want further clarification on this
