Just started NG+...they really did add a lot of new stuff!

    Posted: 15 Mar 2020 09:29 AM PDT

Love the Falconers with their birds at the beginning. Also the gank squad where the 5 ballistas are next to Pate is much crazier. I was like what!?! When not only the group of hollows came after me, but an additional red group of hollows. Glad I had my Dark poison ready. I wonder why they didn't keep up or even escalate this concept in DS3?

Co-op PSA: Be mindful of your summon sign placement please

    Posted: 15 Mar 2020 02:56 AM PDT

DO NOT put your summon sign near a hazard/trap/ledge. Even if you have cleared it in your world, it may still be a danger in the hosts'.

Why do we get 2 souls from the same giant?

    Posted: 15 Mar 2020 04:31 AM PDT

At the start of the game we get the soul of the last giant (giant lord in present) and then at the end of the game we get the soul of the giant lord in the past? Is their any reason of why it's like that?

Invaded by hacker, should I be worried?

    Posted: 15 Mar 2020 02:08 AM PDT

Hi, so today I was invaded at dragon shrine. Despite being a good distance away from the invader, I somehow managed to get backstabbed thrice in a row and died as a result. The hacker didn't drop any items and I didn't pick up anything. I continued playing and everything seems fine at the moment. However, should I be worried? I'm afraid that the hacker may have messed up my game.

PSA: Left Handed attacks differ from right handed attacks! And not only in damage reduction!

    Posted: 14 Mar 2020 08:27 PM PDT

I thank user u/JoshuaSwartz for confirming just how much damage is reduced when using a weapon in your off-hand...

Over 10% of damage is LOST when using a weapon in your left hand.

Not only that, but I've found, when I was practicing the moveset of the Arced sword, falchion and Varangian sword, that using it in my left hand resulted in higher stamina usage. (4 swings on right handed arced sword, 3 swings on left at 10 END). There could be other effects, too...

Luckily there's at least ONE weapon that's specifically designed for lefties, but it's a DLC item that you get later into the game... No wonder I felt like I was doing less damage this whole time.

Good lesson about patience. I'm actually glad as at least the final boss killed me once. I knew it too but I was like just one more hit!

    Newbie co-op questions

    Posted: 15 Mar 2020 07:46 AM PDT

So I am terrible at dark souls (delightfully so imo) and I love jolly co-op, but I believe I've fudged myself.

1: where do we put summon signs? Bonfire? Boss door? With the effigy you can reverse hollowing at the door and limit the time frame for invasion but I assume the bonfire is still the place.

2: how can I determine if I have fudged myself with soul memory? I have a tendency to die a lot, and lately I've gotten the agape ring (sl 70 ish and sm somewhere more than 200k). I just beat the rats on the way to the Rotten, but I need to figure out a method so when I refudge myself I can keep track of that.

Not a co-op question but... Am I over leveled? Lately I've found no need to level, and I only take souls from bosses and items since running into Straid. It's been kind of nice to be sticking to this one level. It's probably a very mediocre quality build but it's been working, and I am enjoying it.

    Some insights about Fume Knight

    Posted: 15 Mar 2020 05:26 AM PDT

Hi, last night I was able to finally kill Fume Knight after a lot of tries. And I'd like to share some thoughts about the fight, which was pretty interesting.

First of all, this is my "first" Dark Souls game, i previously hit the platinum on BB, but this is my first pure Dark Souls experience.

I beat it at level 112, with a soul memory about 1.3M (i heard soul memory is relevant, so that is why i throw the number). With a build balanced around some vitality, strength, dex and endurance. With 7 estus flask +3. I beat this after beating the scorpion lady, before going to Pharros Doors. With a Mace +10. With the hp regen ring, sta regen ring, and the phy damage augment ring.

I personally liked this fight, although it took me all the afternoon, and some time of the night to beat. I think it was fair, fun and had some challenge into it.

And that challenge was nice, since most of the game bosses have been, to be fair, extremely easy. Before this lad, the only "challenge" was Smelter Demon, who taught me how to properly dodge in this game, and maybe The Pursuer, who taught me how to parry. But those two bosses took me around half an hour each.

When I first engaged on the Fume Knight fight, I had read that this was considered one the toughest bosses in all the SoulsBorne games. But I was confident. General Opinion considered Orphan of Kos to be the hardest boss in BloodBorne, and I beat it under 10 tries (I think I was lucky as hell not gonna lie here, fuck you Ebrietas).

First phase was pretty fair, but I need to say something about this.

I repeated this first phase so many times I got to a point where I was able to get to the second phase with all my flasks. But he has THAT one movement that got me every time. When he rised his sword and slammed the ground in front of him. The hitbox in that attack is interesting. But I discovered that the trick was to dodge early, to his right/left.

Second phase was absolute bananas, and here is why.

His moveset is fairly more limited in his second phase. He has two attacks that are an absolute joke to dodge (the one where he slowly slashes his sword in a 270º circle, and the one where he sinks his sword in the ground and does the fire thingy). The problem was the damage though, my armor doesn't protect me that good from fire, so almost every attack got me to 20%hp. At one point I thought of going on a full fire resist armor, since I had the first dominated, but damn I'm stupid.

Overall, a good fucking fight, challenging, the run up was nice (unlike Smelter Demon's), the boss design was cool and music was on point.

If anyone needs some advice I'll just say, "right".

Currently Looking To PERMANENTLY Disable "Double Click" Delay

    Posted: 15 Mar 2020 09:34 AM PDT

For those that use Keyboard and Mouse, you know well the lag behind mouse clicks. I've noticed and read online in a couple forums/Reddit posts that you need to turn off and on again the "Disable Double Clicks" function every time you enter the game in order to stop the input lag: You could also use an input altering program that'll change your mouseclicks into controller/keyboard inputs, which I'd rather not bother with.
I'm currently looking for a config file or something similar that's simply not changing with the option, causing it to not load properly. If anyone has insight into this, it would be greatly appreciated.

Really need some insight on Boss weapons - PLS

    Posted: 15 Mar 2020 06:19 AM PDT

Hello everybody. My question here is about boss weapons ; what does everybody prefer? this is for PvE.

I'll state one thing quick ahead of time - YES, I understand that every weapon can be used for PvE with the right build or determination. I understand this wholly, so those types of responses aren't necessary. I am asking what people's preferences are, and what's really considered to be a good investment in Dragon Bones because i have enough exactly for 2 boss weapons.

I have defeated all base game bosses now besides Aldia because I killed Nashandra before Vendrick. I attacked him several times, but he wouldn't fight, so I figured it couldn't be done. I think it might've been because I didn't have any giant souls from the memories at the time?

In any case, I have the Warped Sword at +5 already and I quite love it! So I am asking for other weapons, ones that suit a Quality build. I'm just now putting points into Faith purely for the bonus lightning damage , but I'll probably reallocate those to Int after NG+ because I can't get behind any of the Miracles. I'd only use the spells for long ranged attacks and crowd control, I hate casting pure builds because they're so fucking boring to both play + watch - IN MY OPINION.

So there are some boss weapons I immediately wrote off on account of not having any bonus elemental damage scaling and the like. I was considering Pursuers sword just cus I like how it looks but I figure both UGS & Zwei outclass it - bath I've +10. Considered that Dragon GS but I'm not a fan of the special R2s due to durability & lack of necessity for my play style. it's more gimmicky than useful for my preference , in most cases. but perhaps without making use of it too often it could still be good. Really wanted to dragonslayer spear but I've a +10 Heide Spear already and figured it just wasn't really necessary, plus the fact I think both movesets have the special R2 which sucks ass as I use R2s quite often in my combos. I was most strongly considering the Barbed Club because of how fantastic Strike damage is in this game, but I'd have to use Ascetic for that, which is NBD, but this was probably my top contender. Perhaps Spiders Silk for the armor piercing, although I have +10 Espada Ropera and Rapier already.

I am in the first DLC right now, Shulva or whatever. And I have exactly enough dragon bones for 2 boss weapons. I was going to level something the other day but nothing really stood out to me because I have equal/better standard options already.

So , anyone's opinion is greatly appreciated. Thanks for reading this far, and thanks even more if you drop a response with what your favorite weapons are & why! Happy hunting, Skellies!

    I'm wondering...

    Posted: 15 Mar 2020 06:06 AM PDT

Why do people say that dark souls 2 is bad? The game reviews are great, and I'm playing it right now and I'm loving it.

Ps: I skipped Dark Souls 1, because it isn't available in psn (at least not here in Brazil)

Brume Tower second bonfire strategy for weak builds/dashing through the DLC for a specific item before you're ready for it

    Posted: 14 Mar 2020 10:50 PM PDT

I hate the room full of enemies because it's difficult for me when I'm not running a build who can just brute force the entire thing with an UGS, but I've finally found a method, and you don't need to waste a firebomb on this part for it. It's not for deathless speedrunning, it just saves me a headache and a half. No annoying cast speed for pyromancies, no windup for firebombs, no waiting around for hours for universal chaos theory to blow everything up.

    Preparational items:

    Torch

At least two radiant life gems

    VIT~14

    Shield optional

    Flame butterfly(convenience, not required)

From the bonfire, light the torch pre-emptively and head down the ladder. Head over to the blocked door to the left when facing the main tower shaft from that position. Swing the torch at the door with R2, it should blow up the barrels blocking the door. Open the door and take care of the guy behind it, then drop down and quickly use the smelter wedge to destroy the idol. Allow yourself to die.

Light your torch or use a FB later, and from the bonfire, head down the ladder. Push the little hollow guy out into the main arena. Head into the newly opened room to the left facing the shaft, and kill the firebomb guy, he'll only serve to stir up the pot of rng in this very delicate operation. Head into the room to the right when facing the main shaft, push all of them out into the arena. BEFORE YOU HEAD OUT, use the aforementioned torch to blow up one side of the barrels and damage yourself, then the other side as well. Don't use an estus, instead pop two radiant lifegems and quickly drop into the room. Careful timing: Aggro the two ashen warriors and the smelter demon dude to at least two hollow barrel guys, and swing the torch at them, BEFORE you are at full health, but AFTER the threshold for the damage from an explosive barrel. You can test this threshold out pre-emptively for better results.

-If all goes well, you will:

    Be alive

Be knocked down in an invincibility state

    Still be continuously healing

-Conditions of enemies will preferrably be:

    Smelter demon dead

    One(or two) ashen warriors dead

ashen warrior on the far side of the room not aggroed

If the ashen warrior is still alive: avoid the first attack, and play passive, preferably with a 100 shield while the radiant lifegems are still in effect, healing you slowly. Be careful not to aggro the ashen warrior on the far side of the room, he shoots arrows, but if it's unavoidable, all it means is that you need to be careful to dodge well or face that side of the room while defending. After you've healed enough to take them on, do so. Backstabs are easy and very effective with these guys.

In the unlikely event all aggro'd warriors are dead: Pull the lever and leave. You don't need to deal with the remaining dude. If he's aggro'd, employ the above strategy about defending or dodging.

If all goes well, you will have all estus flask usages to deal with the next area and hopefully no pounding headache or male pattern baldness.

PS: The door behind the demon does not close. This means that if you successfully get this to work once, you will never have to worry about it again. They won't follow you through the doorway despite it's proximity to the arena.
