Welcome to the weekly Dark Souls mod announcement and discussion thread!

Beware! Use of mods whilst connected to the internet can cause you to get banned from online play!

For more information, or to continue the discussion visit /r/ModSouls

Using mods (PC only!) to enhance or add new content to the Souls games is great fun! It is important, however, to understand that mods are against From's EULA/ToS, so there is a great risk of being banned when using them due to From's anti-cheat--which is deployed in most versions of the Souls games.

Versions of the games where modding is safe due to no anti-cheat:

Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition

Versions of the games where modding carries a very high risk of being banned:

    Dark Souls: Remastered

    Dark Souls II

Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin

    Dark Souls III

    Our recommendations for safe modding

*This advice is intended for first-time or relatively inexperienced modders who want to get into modding without risking a ban on their main Steam account.

    Basic Steps:

    Make a separate Steam account

Use Steam's Family Sharing feature to provide your new account with access to your main Steam account's game library.

Install games to be used with the new account in a separate directory.

Once you've found your mods be sure to read (and follow) the mod author's instructions carefully prior to installation.

Set Steam to "off line" mode.

Install the mods and perform any necessary setup.

Enjoy the fun and interesting experiences offered by mods!

Be sure to remove all file components of the mod before going back online!

Those dumb messages always make me smile. This one even made me laugh hard. This is what keeps me happy, even in a sad place like Brume Tower.

Just beat the throne guardians,Nashandra and Aldia in 1 go.

    Posted: 23 Mar 2020 12:52 PM PDT

Lets just say that a lightning red iron twinblade with sacred oath just deletes the throne guardians. And it hurts Nashandra and Aldia quite bad as well.

    I used to be a ds2 hater

    Posted: 22 Mar 2020 08:32 PM PDT

The first time i played ds2 i hated it. I thought it was too different and not fun. I thought the estus system was stupid and everything felt too floaty. But yesterday i started a new game and after the persuer it started getting real good. Im ashamed that i slept on ds2 for so long

    Rat King Covenant

    Posted: 23 Mar 2020 11:41 AM PDT

Just quick question for y'all, what do you find is the fastest way to gather tails for this covenant? I'm above 45 mil souls so I'm top tier for PVP and have not been getting any summons for this and I'm wondering if I should just use high item discovery on basic rats or do the royal rat vanguard over and over

    Worth makeing tark unhostile?

    Posted: 23 Mar 2020 09:34 AM PDT

Ok so I attacked tark cause he's a big scary looking scorpion man. Realised when be tried to talk to me I shouldn't have done that. I know there's someone later on in the game that can make NPCs unhostile again. Is tark worth it or should I just kill him for the ring?

    How do I get stronger?

    Posted: 23 Mar 2020 10:43 AM PDT

Currently I'm at a stalemate with DS2. I only have 4 or so bosses left in the main game. I have all the DLC left to beat as well. The problem is that everything got so freaking difficult it's driving me insane. For the main game I'm at The Undead Crypt and I can get past the wraiths. I'm doing the dlc in order so I'm at Sunken King right now. Except that every single enemy hits way to hard and have just enough health to where I cant one shot them with my +10 greatsword. How do i get strong enough to where I don't get destroyed at this point.

    Steam Remote Play Together?

    Posted: 23 Mar 2020 01:14 PM PDT

I found an old post that led me down a rabbit hole with the quest of playing DS2 with a friend remotely. My friend and I were just starting the second DLC while playing pass-and-play and would like to keep playing that way but are now remote to each other. Does anyone know if this method in the post still works? My friend was not having much luck. If it doesn't work, would Steam Invite To Watch still work?

    Posted: 23 Mar 2020 09:06 AM PDT

I've made it to the petrified egg, but I'm unsure about taking it. This is because I don't want to agro the dragon knights I've been seeing. Will taking the Petrified egg agro the dragon knights?

Aldia's keep fog door locked me out

    Posted: 23 Mar 2020 12:50 PM PDT

So in aldias keep with the skeleton dragon I pulled the lever for the wizard guy and I fought the dudes from the mirrors. I also fought Lucatiel's brother and the guy who popped out of the sconce when I lit it. Problem is that place where I entered from the first bonfire now has fog over it. There are no enemies I can see and I dont know how to fix it. I do have sellsword luet summoned. I tried homeward bone but it doesnt work. I can only go up to the petrified ogre but I'm pretty sure I need him for something. How do I get rid of the fog or atleast light the other sconces?

    Starting Dark Souls 2

    Posted: 23 Mar 2020 12:07 PM PDT

I'm ashamed to say that as a ds lover, I've never played ds2. Idk why, it's just never interested me, people saying it's the worst of the thrilogy was just enought to lose my interest for it, but now, with these strange days we're living, I've decided that it's the moment to do it. I've played ds 1 and 3 with all dlc, so, what should I spect from these game? Any recommendation? Should I follow a guide? Thanks!

PD: I love magic builds, so is it viable to go with magic in this ds?

Got a few questions about poison.

    Posted: 23 Mar 2020 11:34 AM PDT

I have a poison build and I'm having trouble deciding whether to use manslayer or spotted whip. Manslayer does more damage, but whip procs way faster and does less damage. So one of my questions is does poison stack? By that I mean, if I proc poison with manslayer, then start hitting with whip, will whip do separate poison damage? Also, can I use an ascetic to kill demon of song again to get a second whip so I can power stance them? I also use hunters black bow with poison arrows, but that's irrelevant. The melee weapons are just for when something gets too close.

    Posted: 23 Mar 2020 11:23 AM PDT

I'm on xbox 360, and I keep hearing about this dragon outside the the old dragon slayer fight. How do I get to fight it? I beat the dragon slayer but all that's there is a knight.

On NG+...finally understand why people dislike Iron Keep.

    Posted: 23 Mar 2020 09:45 AM PDT

All my previous runs were strength. Iron Keep is so easy either one shoting or two-shotting every Alonne Knight with a pancake in between. It has always been on of the easier areas for me. I'm using a hex/dex/sorcery build this time and man does that make a difference. It's SO much more annoying when you have to hit them 5-6 times, and they keep coming after each hit. Not to mention the damage the captains put out. Thinking about respecing back to strength and going back to my +5 Dragon's Tooth to cruise through. I mean it's literally night and day. Or should I say Dark or Sunny.

Tips for a no bonfire run

    Posted: 23 Mar 2020 09:42 AM PDT

I have decided I'm going to attempt to stream a no bonfire run, this is my first attempt at any sort of unique run, and was wondering if people have any tips! I have beaten the game 4 times for SotFS and more than a dozen on the original, so I know the map fairly well!

(Reddit name and stream name have no correlation, which is why I mentioned it was for a stream)

Why is there no level limit in the ds2 arena?

    Posted: 23 Mar 2020 09:27 AM PDT

im at lvl 150 in NG (not NG+). and there are people i barely scratch with my chaos blade at 50 dex... i though i was overleveled and felt bad for even playing arena at 150 but appearently there are maxed out dudes who play arena on NG. this is sad.. it ruins the balance.

    Brume Tower DLC cursed room

    Posted: 23 Mar 2020 08:59 AM PDT

This is, if reading this through doesnt tell you, my first playthrough of the DLC in dark souls 2 and ive encountered this room behind a heavy door thats in the same room as the foyer bonfire. Now the enemies are fine (albeit the dark does make it quite tricky) but there is a rapid curse build up and upon peeking into the four rooms ive seen some chests but nothing that stood out. Now im ASSUMING that theres one of those ashen soul fuckers floating around somewhere nearby like underneath that i just havent gotten to, my main reason for that is the enemies down there are also buffed. Now is there something nearby that i have to kill or is the dark just camouflaging the source cause its seems like its impossible to open a chest and get out before the build up procs.
