This madman is actually trying to beat Dark souls without being able to see the map.

What’s that feeling after beating Lord Gwyn?

    Posted: 18 Feb 2020 12:43 AM PST

I've beaten Nightmares, Orphan of Kos, Sword Saint but what is this feeling of emptiness after I beat Gwyn? The fight was glorious, not too challenging, me and sunbro weren't afraid of no punkass Lord, we fought and won bravely. But after my sunbro said goodbye, as I walk toward that unkindled fire, emptiness approached me, am I about to start this whole cycle of lore once again? For some reason this don't feel like a victory, am I playing to his hands? Only time will tell as I will venture into NG+ and DS3 to find out more about this fascinating world. Thank you Fromsoft, this is indeed a masterpiece.

    Finally!!! I did it!!!!

    Posted: 17 Feb 2020 06:54 AM PST

After 43 hours of dying and exploring I beat the game for the first time. I know it's not a big deal but for me it is. The excitement in my body the moment that I killed Gwyn was astronomical. Now time for ng+

Quelaag's Sister has been... moving around.

    Posted: 17 Feb 2020 09:02 PM PST

Last night I came up from the Demon Ruins, and Quelaag's Sister wasn't in her normal spot. Rather, she was about 8ft to the left and a little bit forward. You could see the weirdly lit area behind her, and her collision boxes were in weird spots. Couldn't talk to her. Restarted the game and everything was back to normal. Later, came up again and she was straight up GONE. Reloaded and once again everything was back to normal. Has anyone else ever seen this happening?

    Completed without Rolling or Running

    Posted: 18 Feb 2020 12:47 AM PST

Disclaimer (i accidentally hit the roll button twice (Edit 3) near a bonfire but they didn't gain me any advantage).

I recently created a post a couple of days asking for a challenging playthrough to try and achieve.

One Reddit post suggested that I try to beat the game without rolling or running. I spend the last two days attempting and eventually beating ds1 without rolling or sprinting , this includes almost every boss including the DLC. (Excluding Stray demon and Priscilla due to the requirements of the challenge making the bosses inaccessible. (I just realised I forgot moonlight butterfly.)

I ended the game at level 85 with a total playtime of 6 hours, 40 minutes and 23 seconds. this was a fun experience to try out as well as frustrating.

Why Dark Souls Wikipedia pages are not "Good Articles" ?

    Posted: 18 Feb 2020 02:59 AM PST

Given the size and activity of this community, how is it that Wikipedia pages for dark souls are not "quality articles" ? there is much to be said

Can you enjoy other RPGs like The Witcher, Skyrim etc after playing Souls?

    Posted: 17 Feb 2020 06:59 AM PST

    I can't.

I tried to get into Witcher 3 and the amount of dialogue and mediocre combat just made me pine for Souls.

I am a relative latecomer to the Souls games. Bloodborne was my first and I fell in love there and then. Then I played DS2, then DS3, then DS Remastered. Yet to try Demon Souls and I'm currently playing Nioh because I heard good things (I really like it!). And since playing these games, I haven't looked back since.

The Souls games have ruined other action RPGs for me, I just can't stick with them. I always find myself getting bored with the level design and vast amounts of boring chit chat in stuff like Skyrim. Huge sprawling worlds where you can't actually do much. Take The Witcher 3 for example. It's just a Ubisoft type map cleaner. So repetitive and tedious.

This isn't a 'let's bash other games that aren't Souls' thread. I just wanted to gauge other people's feelings about action RPGs after spending a lot of time with the Souls series.

How hard is Sekiro compared to Dark Souls?

    Posted: 18 Feb 2020 12:41 AM PST

You may say it's not the right place to ask that question, but I assure you it is. Many people don't understand the real premise of Dark Souls - it's not hard for the sake of being hard and sadistic (although Dark Souls 2 is just that). DS is hard for the sake of being rewarding, immersive and artistic.

So here's my question - from a perspective of a person who understands the real premise of Dark Souls, what is your opinion on Sekiro difficulty?

I know I shouldn't be asking this question and just play it blind since I love DS1 so very very much, but right now I'm going through DS2 and I absolutely hate how developers missed the real idea of Dark Souls. They shallowed it by thinking Dark Souls is about being sadistically hard and unbalanced, which is extremely wrong.

Is the Demon Greataxe worth upgrading for the S strength scaling?

I haven't upgraded it yet but was wondering if it was worth it to get the S strength scaling on my save which has 56 strength.

First time in anor londo, just stumbled upon the giant blacksmith? I have a plus 10 claymore and it says i can make it into a lightning claymore?? Or the greatsword of artorias? Which one should i go for. Kinda new to Dark souls 1

    Posted: 17 Feb 2020 11:59 PM PST

I welcome advice from my trusty DS subreddit members

    Posted: 18 Feb 2020 03:30 AM PST

For those who remember, I am a BIG fan of Knight Artorias. I ultimately want to have a build that allows the wielding of his sword and wearing his armor without fat rolling.

    Now....

I'm drawing a blank to what I should do early game... I no longer have the NG+ data so I have to start from scratch.

Something I’ve noticed about lathe and Frampt

    Posted: 17 Feb 2020 09:30 PM PST

Frampt throughout the entirety of the game hangs out of you're reach so you are out of range to hit him while you kathe is always within hitting distance this may be utterly stupid but it feels like Frampt is kind of disassociateing with humans by staying out of reach while kathe has nothing to hide so he is fine putting himself in hitting distance probably wrong but wanted to shaRe nonetheless

    Little talking

    Posted: 17 Feb 2020 11:14 PM PST

So i played dark souls on my ps3 a while ago, and i recently bought the bundle with ds1-3 for ps4. So i gave the remastered version a shot, and i completely caught fire in that game again! My first playthrough took me forever, because i didnt want to spoil myself and explore everything on my own. But i really loved how the entire map is connected and you suddenly end up being in a part you didnt expect to be there. So on my second ever playthrough on remastered, i pretty much just wanted to take a look of the graphics and how everything looks like. I didnt notice much difference tho. I choose to do a bkh run ive seen a speedrun of, but still made some extra stuff. So this run took me 7.5hours to beat gwyn, and i beat him 2nd try with parrying, wich didnt work the first time at all! (Maybe some sekiro skills kicked in?) And i was kinda shocked how well and fast it went. I immediately restarted, finished in just under 3hours this time. So i went on for like a week, doing one run a day, and my time got better every time. After 5 runs i made it just under 2 hours wich was my goal, the next one was my fastest with 1h46min and i had a total blast! I then played all dlcs wich i missed out up until then. What i actually wanted to talk about is the massive learning curve you got in this game, and it feels so rewarding to me to have done so. I obviously played glitchless, since i am too bad to do these i think lol. What are your experiences with additional playthroughs? Do you only play new game or do you continue with new game+?

Thoughts on the starting weapons in the Undead Asylum.

    Posted: 17 Feb 2020 03:17 PM PST

Hello everyone! I've been trying to give some background to the game's introductory parts. This time, I was curious about the starting weapons. Now the game prompts you to "get your shield" when you're faced with the hollow archer after running away from the boss fight. Same goes for "your weapon". I would think it's clear the two items are indeed the player character's, given that they change depending on the starting class, but then the question is, how did they get there? Were they confiscated by one of the asylum guards, who went hollow doing god-knows-what? Would the people of the land where the Aslyum is located even hire undead to serve as wardens? What do you think?
