Love how you always find new things with these games no matter how experienced you are

    Posted: 04 Feb 2020 12:01 AM PST

Playing through dks1 again currently, and after thousands of hours in the game, probably somewhere between 5-10k over 9 years, i discovered that there are multiple bonfire sitting poses.

I noticed this trying to get a good screenshot of my character resting at a bonfire in firelink. So far, I've seen one where you are totally cross-legged, one with both legs stretched out in front of you feet flat on the ground, and one that's sort of a combination of the two, with one foot stretched out foot flat, and the other how it would is when you sit cross-legged, with both the side of your foot and your knee touching the ground.

Each pose also has its own animation before you're fully sitting down, though you don't have much time to see it before the effect covers your screen to reset the area.

It's nothing huge of course, but i still found it very interesting and wondered how many other people had noticed it. I figured some people who were unaware might also find it interesting.

To whoever greeted my afk character last night with sparkles and gifts instead of murder, thank you

    Posted: 03 Feb 2020 07:40 AM PST

First time DS1 player here, never realized I could get invaded in human form if I was sitting at the bonfire. Edit: On Switch btw.

Came back after getting a drink to see the room covered in sparkles and gifts, with a mostly nude red lady phantom running around emoting.

I cautiously emoted back, and quickly removed my weapons and armor in a show of good faith.

You gave me somethign to "indict" you with, whatever that is, a bunch of humanity, purple grass, and kept throwing jars at me that said something in a weird voice.

You then showed me the path to the dragon greatbow, before blasting me off the side of the cathedral with some big boom spell.

Either way, I came out way ahead, so thanks pal. I indicted you cause I Assumed that's what you wanted. Hopefully it was!

TL;DR: Went on a spontaneous adventure with a red phantom, got blasted off the side of the cathedral, received many gifts.

Am I the only one playing like this?

    Posted: 03 Feb 2020 04:26 PM PST

Just started Dark Souls and as with Bloodborne I can't keep myself from holding the controller like this: https://imgur.com/a/N0qbS7o

Edit: Apparently this is called "The claw grip": https://imgur.com/a/wllsFqv

The Four Kings are destroying me

    Posted: 03 Feb 2020 06:57 PM PST

Y'all, I've watched videos and looked at guides. I did some jumping jacks. I drank 32 oz. of water. I promised those guys I would do their taxes. Still getting whooped. I killed O and S on my first try. First try! Yet, here I am. Any tips are soundly appreciated. Primarily a strength build just trying to hit them as hard as possible.

EDIT: Well, I guess it took making this post. Did it one try after I hit send!

    My dumb ass

    Posted: 04 Feb 2020 12:48 AM PST

It's my first DS1 playthrough, I've completed Bloodborne and it was really fun and I wanted to start playing DS series. So after passing the Undead Parish (?) I stumbled upon a huge gate, my dumb ass thought it would be a good idea to kill a guy sitting next to the fortress gate, for some reason my brain thought he will drop some cool weapon (like Alfred from Bloodborne drops Wheel badge). After some cheap tactics I finally killed him and he dropped a ring which I don't think is very useful. And I wanted to know if killing him that early or killing him at all has any reason and I want to know if I wasted an opportunity for something better.

My first ever vagrant was in the worst possible place

    Posted: 03 Feb 2020 05:55 PM PST

I died to the Anor Londo archers and was heading back up for a second attempt, when none other than a vagrant spawned in on the narrow walkway right before them. By the time I rotated the camera to see him it was too late: I got stuck on him which meant the archers quickscoped me out of existence. RIP bloodstain with 50k souls and 20 humanity.

    So I fought Sif...

    Posted: 03 Feb 2020 09:44 PM PST

I didn't really... feel that bad. I mean, i felt kind of bad but that's because I was hitting a dog fighting with what i assume is his master's sword. When he got to low health, i didn't even get to see the limping which sounds super messed up to WANT to see a creature limp around as he tries to fight you off but that Sif limping about and whimpering, and apparently even losing balance on his injured limb as he desperately tries to defend his master's grave is the one thing people talk about during this fight and is by far one of the more investing and sympathetic moments that happens in boss fights of the Souls games imo but... that just didn't happen for me. Sif was still doing backflips and spinattacks till' the very end. I feel like I missed a big part of why people like this boss.

He was my favorite fight in the video game, but haven't been able to beat him in the board game yet. I think he turned out pretty neat though!

Would you pay $60 for RE2 level remake of DS1?

    Posted: 03 Feb 2020 09:18 AM PST

If content was added, areas finished/tweaked and world continuity feedback from the community was added as well better graphics and engine mechanics. I would certainly pay full price even through I already have a 150hrs in original and remake. Maybe the better question is DOES Fromsoft have the engine to do something like Capcom did with RE2? Sekiro looks nice, but its definitely stylized to hide last gen graphics, and compared to something like Ghost of Tsushima I would say its not in the same league.

Think I broke the primordial serpents

    Posted: 03 Feb 2020 03:14 PM PST

so, been doing a new play through, got the lord vessel, went back to firelink and didn't speak to Frampt, he was asleep so i did a leap attack, that missed, i fell into the kiln and said "well guess I'll place the thing" so i did, warped out and when i went by frampt he did his "you sorry fool" thing and left, so i thought "oh cool, Kaath playthrough i guess" so i went and did Four Kings and Kaathe didn't show up after i killed them, warped back to firelink, no one there, went back to the abyss, nothing, so yeah I have no primordial serpent in my game, didn't know that was possible

    FINALLY BEAT MANUS!

    Posted: 03 Feb 2020 08:01 AM PST

And freakin Sif stole my kill!! He watched me get my brains bashed in for 10 minutes then when Manus was down to a shred of health ran up and joined the fight lol. A bit poetic though that he would get the killing blow.

Still a good boy though and I couldn't have done it without him. Seriously if I need to fight Manus again for plat I'm not doing that again. He was the only boss so far that I've used a summon for and had me close to the point of breaking my controller. I don't think I've been that frustrated since Maneater.

Press S to spit on grave.

    One thing you would change?

    Posted: 03 Feb 2020 10:20 PM PST

If there was one thing I could change or remove about Dark Souls, it would be the BoC.

I would like to personally slap the designer(s) as hard as I possibly can who are responsible for the absolute travesty of this boss fight.

Fuck literally everything about that fight.

Is it possible to skip the Bell Gargoyles just like Quelaag?

    Posted: 03 Feb 2020 06:55 PM PST

Like Quelaag, where you initiate the overhead death cam but not die and then run straight through her boss room to the bell, could you do the same with the Gargoyles using the pillar parry glitch?

Of course clearing out the entire area of the balders, hollows, and channeler beforehand, and then guiding the last hollow knight to the pillar to do the glitch.

NG+ Most Active Map to Farm Bosses in Jolly Coop?

Because I wasn't aware that switching covenants drops you down a rank I messed up and lost my Sunbro rank that I needed for the Knights honor trophy.

What is the most populated boss/area to farm Medals again?

Need help - Dodge roll inputs are dropping for both controller and keyboard. It's getting worse every time I play dark souls, and it's getting to the point where it's almost unplayable.

    Posted: 03 Feb 2020 04:24 PM PST

Here's a video showing my problem:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CWd5LhixBYM

At 2:05 in, you can see me pressing space bar to dodge over and over and over again, but every single input is dropped until I start spamming space bar.

I'm playing prepared to die edition. Is there any fix that you guys know of that can make my dodges reliable again? I really love this game, but at this point it's way too frustrating to get to the end of a boss fight and die just because the inputs are dropping out. I have installed DSFix, but that doesn't help...
