Have you ever did something in Dark Souls, and then realised that you could do it much easier?

    Posted: 04 Feb 2020 01:41 AM PST

Hello guys! I came to you with simple question, like in the title. Have you ever did something like that?

I had a story like that. On my first Dark Souls 2 SotFS run I didn't know a lot. It was totally blind run, I didn't want to spoil anything to myself. So I was running through Earthen Peak, straight to Mytha. I walked through the fog gate and saw big boss room, filled with poison. 'Okay, that can be intresting and hard fight!' - I said to myself. So, as soon as battle started, I tried to learn all moves of Baneful Queen. It wasn't that hard, so after a while I came out with offensive. And then realised that Mytha heals. With every fucking second. I was a bit angry, becouse for me poison everywhere + healing boss is too much. But I didn't surrender. I fought to the end and finally won bossfight. I was so proud of myself that I went straight to my friend (who was playing DS2 with me on 2nd character) that I killed Mytha. After my whole story he said something just like 'But you know that you could burn the windmill and delete whole poison?'. So sad he hasn't seen my face. I was angry for myself I missed such an important possibility. After that run, every time I burn windmill, I remind myself that first, hard fight with Mytha.

What about you guys? Have you been in situation like that in any Souls game? Praise The Sun! \[-|-]//

For someone coming to DS2 from DS3, what important things might not be obvious?

    Posted: 04 Feb 2020 11:18 AM PST

I've heard about the need to level up the Adaptability stat, but that's about it.

For example, I wouldn't have guessed that you can infuse a spell catalyst. Or that a healing spell restores the same amount of HP, regardless of how high your Faith is.

Of what other important things am I likely ignorant?

Yeah no fuck the glass knight

    Posted: 03 Feb 2020 06:38 PM PST

I've lost more sanity fighting this dude than the smelter demon. This is the dumbest boss fight I have ever tried, I am right there literally right there to just stopping. My dream is just to finish this game I've been so happy after leaving iron keep but now, now I'm at this fucking asshole. I watch guides and they aren't showing shit all I see is easy mode mages fucking him up. I don't want to give up but if I keep getting more mad and mad I don't think it's good for me to keep dealing with this bull shit. When I first saw him when I enter the boss room I thought he was the most bad ass looking dude. All I see now is a fucking asshole who is a trickster, who has a leap of a fucking frog and decides he wants to shoot lighting and pop out npc's out of his shield. This boss is cancer FOR me 😔🤬 man..... fuck this boss

    [XB1] Server Unavailability Answer

    Posted: 04 Feb 2020 03:08 AM PST

    Hello,

I have recently been in contact with a Bandinamco EU representative and have stated this issue. They have responded stating that they shall immediately inform the Dark Souls II Team regarding the inquiry of server availability on Xbox One. However, I am not too sure about PlayStation 4 but I will presume they will most probably attempt to cease the issues on that console too.

In the meantime, please try resetting your console and then reattempting to connect to the Dark Souls II Servers as this has personally worked for me.

I will inform you whether I receive any updates.

Cave of The Dead Gank Squad

    Posted: 04 Feb 2020 12:11 AM PST

Wow, what a fight! Not too inspired as a whole, but I kind of enjoyed the fact that they were just regular explor - err, graverobbers... just people, really. The three man gank was sort of unexpected (I've been running blind), but it was intense and entertaining! My heart was beating a mile a minute, and even with the phantom duo of Andrei and Alfis, I almost perished. Thankfully the AI wasn't hellbent on rushing me and only me... it was a good old fashioned skirmish.

Also, props to the theme of the fight. Good stuff!

    Complementary build?

    Posted: 04 Feb 2020 04:45 AM PST

Me and a friend are about to play Dks2 in the most coop way possible We're gonna run all zones together twice each for both of us He's going to play a full int spellcaster so I'm wondering: what could I play to complement his playstyle? Maybe something I can also get down to pvp with sometimes For sure I would go melee so he can cast away, I'd probably need for PvE the ring of "enemies come at me" the red eye thingy What are yer recommendations? One thing I have to use for sure are heals so I need at least 10fth and then can skeptic spice the shit out of great heal

“Dark Souls 2 service is not available”

    Posted: 04 Feb 2020 11:50 AM PST

My friend and I are on Xbox One S and we keep getting the message "Dark Souls 2 service not available". Usually a hard reset works, but sometimes it doesn't. Is this a server problem, console problem, or is it all the thick snowy weather outside?

Why did people hate Dark Souls 2: SOTFS?

    Posted: 04 Feb 2020 08:18 AM PST

I have been playing the game for 15 hours, an I love it. Is more Dark Souls. This is coming from a person that has already beaten the more modern versions of the game: DS3, Bloodborne and Sekiro. Now before I go any further, let me clarify that I like to always look for tips before playing the game. Maybe if I did not know these tips, I would probably have a bad time.

Having said all of that, these are the only "problems" I can see with the game:

    1. Leveling up adaptability for i-frames and better rolling - This is just stupid, If someone would have not advice me to do it, I would have probably never done it and I would have had a bad time.
    2. Group of enemies - Lol, they run in crazy groups to beat you up. What is up with that? Coming from the front, top, back, lol. Sometimes it is just comical that I am running and group of people are just persecuting me.
    3. Map design - Seems they wanted to be more open, but I actually got kind of lost with the map. I had to look at a guide to know how to get to Huntsmans Copse.
    4. Is it my idea or are there some dark areas that should have some light, but instead they are REALLY DARK?
    5. Bosses- To early to say. I have not fought any memorable boss though, and they all have been relatively easy. The four Gargoyles were just stupid. From what I read the DLC, have amazing boss fights. Probably the later part of the game also. IT IS TO EARLY TO SAY SO PLEASE DO NOT SPOIL ANYTHING.
    6. The torch thingy is stupid. It had to look at a guide to find out how to light a torn on a bon fire lol.

Having said all of this, I LOVE the game. Is more Dark Souls an I having fun.

I failed the Iron Keep - a new player's experience

    Posted: 04 Feb 2020 01:43 PM PST

I'm on my first DS2 run, even though I have hundreds of hours in DS1, DS3, and Bloodborne. I have largely ignored guides and tips online, and have just recently started coming to this sub to get a better handle on lore, and I thought I would share my journey so far. It wasn't until I came to this subreddit that I found out some big differences in this game, such as the fact that if you kill an enemy 12 times, it permanently dies. I had no idea!

I am currently SL90, Cleric, and at the Brightstone Cove Location. I have invested nothing in Adaptability or Agility, nothing in Vitality, and barely anything in Endurance. I have five spell slots (Great heal, Medium Heal, Lightning Spear, Emit Force, and Heavenly Thunder), and about 30 in Faith, Vigor, and Strength respectively. I wield a lightning infused mace +8 and a clerics chime +8. I have 6 estus at +4 shard strength. If anyone sees any glaringly wrong or idiotic things about this build or how I'm progressing, please call me out on it. I enjoy the blind(ish) run but I also don't want to make the game harder on myself than it already is.

The Iron Keep throttled me. There wasn't a single point in the game where I saw an enemy disappear permanently, since I never failed any area so many times it resulted in 12 deaths to a particular mob. It was the oddest feeling seeing the enemies slowly thin out after so many failed runs from the bonfire in this iron keep. By the time I finally killed the boss, all that was left was a couple of archers and those little bell tower guys that are easy to run past.

It is a much different feeling beating a boss when you have virtually all your heals, all your estus, and no encounters between the bonfire and the misty gate. I wasn't even that satisfied, but moreso relieved. I am looking forward to coming back to this area in NG+ now that I am getting a better handle on the mechanics.

Anyways, I am so happy I finally got around to giving this game a serious shot. I feel like I barely know what is going on, but I am sure as hell enjoying the process. Now come invade me and show me some PVP action! I have barely had any player interaction whatsoever!

A Dark Souls jolly co-op server with almost 200 members!

    Posted: 04 Feb 2020 01:15 PM PST

This post will be long. There's a tl;dr section at the bottom for everyone too lazy to read the whole thing.

I'm sure most of you reading this have seen a post about this server before. I don't care.

For those of you that haven't heard of me or my server, allow me to introduce myself. I'm Aether; I have over 100 hours on Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin, and have other 1000 hours in the series as a whole. Approximately three weeks ago, I made a server for Dark Souls 3 in the style of adventurer's guilds mainly seen in JRPGs and anime. Since then, we've expanded to the other two Dark Souls games, have gained 170 members, and have plans to add Code Vein and Bloodborne upon reaching 250 members. Hopefully, this post persuaded you to join our ever growing army of adventurers in our trek to reach 1000 members by the end of our first year.

Our first, and probably most prominent feature, is the quest system. The other adventurers of the server will put up quests in times of need. You, your team, or some rando on the server, can do the quest for a certain reward, also set by the person creating the quest. It's a free market system, and the only way the admins and I will interfere is if a quest gets complained about or if the quest is formatted wrong (our boards use specific formatting to make finding quest information efficient).

Our team system is fairly popular within the server. Just like the quest system, other players put up requests for teams. Teams, however, are near permanent additions. Think of it like a band. People can leave and join teams as they please, but a team is never really gone until it is officially disbanded. Our teams, upon creation, can also pay a small fee of 10k souls for a private room, which is a text and voice chat which only your team, as well as the admins and I (because we have access to all chat rooms for moderation) can access.

Have you ever wanted to be able to truly consider yourself a crusader, mage, healer, or some other class? Well, we have a class system that lets you classify yourself into any class, and with the adventurer class existing as well, all of your classes will fit 100%. What are these classes for? Well, besides classification, it's also used with the team system. People may ask for specific classes at specific level ranges to make sure they have the skill set they need for their team. Overall, I hope that this has convinced you to join our server, or to at least share it with others. I am willing to answer any questions you may have as well. Have a great day!

(tl;dr) A server for all 3 dark souls games that has its own class system, team system, and quests. We hope to reach 1000 members by the end of the year so please join!

My Dark Souls II exprience (so far)

    Posted: 04 Feb 2020 05:45 AM PST

So I've been playing Dark Souls II (SotFS) for maybe two years now. Played the first game before it but then i lost my controller and the keyboard + mouse layout sucked for it (that's why i switched). Anyways, I've never gotten very far into the game in all my years of playing coz I'd make a new character and test out a build, play it for hours (8+), get bored of the build, try make a new character with a different build, then get bored of playing, then return months later. Because of this, early game bosses are mostly just child's play to me, from the ruin sentinels to the Lost Sinner.

Right now though, I have a character that I've been really liking, sporting an uchigatana and offhand poison whip (but mostly just two hand the uchi til i find another katana). I've also just beaten Royal Rat Authority for the first time today. It managed to kill its minion rats itself so that was lucky.

Anyway, just wanted to post here since I've been enjoying the game again and I visit the sub semi-frequently when looking for tips on character builds, and stuff. Got a new controller recently too but i'm still trying to get a feel for it.

thanks to this sub for all the tips, and I'm looking forward for more in the future.

    What’s the best ultra greatsword?

    Posted: 04 Feb 2020 09:39 AM PST

Was having some fun with a sword/shield combo but I'm in late game stuff and the fights are really dragging on. I had a basic greatsword in my inventory and just upgraded it to +5 and the thing hits like a truck.

After half an area playing with it I upgraded it to +10 and it's almost laughable how quick some of my fights are now.

I'm using just the basic greatsword plus 10 and with my upgrades and points in strength it's up to rank S.

Should I be using a different one? It is pretty heavy so I can't really use a shield unless I want fat rolls even with the soldiers +1 ring and a good amount into Vit.

I know FUGS is popular but I don't plan to play NG+ for quite awhile. Is this fine to do some end game content or should I be trying to upgrade one of the others? I have all the bosses souls in the game so far. Didn't use any of them. Heading to Aldia castle and then wanted to try the dlc.

When farming for items while in the Champions Covenant, do enemies just stop dropping items?

    Posted: 04 Feb 2020 08:29 AM PST

I've been clearing the Royal Army Campsite over and over for sunlight medals from the Falconers. However, the last 5 times or so I haven't even gotten any Falconer gear to drop, let alone a sunlight medal. And this is using all item discovery gear and rusted coins.

I'm going to begin playing DS2 SotFS. Any advice?

    Posted: 04 Feb 2020 08:27 AM PST

After playing Sekiro, Bloodborne and DS3 I decided to go back to the second game of the soul series.

Any advice? This could be about different mechanics, expectations, bad/good beginning choices ecc...

I will play offline at least for the first run in case it changes something

    Useful tips so far:

    Every weapon/build is viable

    Adp is really important

This game is "Scholar of the First Sin" rather than Dark Souls 2 so I shouldn't compare it to the others or expect the same experience as the others
