today i saw a guy using a drake sword against Manus Posted: 27 Feb 2020 07:48 AM PST I'm RP'ing Seath the Man (Seath traveling the world in Undead form) So I get summoned to fight Artorias, then again by the same guy in Oolacile township and then we enter the abyss together. The whole time he's rocking a drake sword. He's doing ok, but I'm doing probably 2-3x the damage with my +15 uchikatana (sue me, i hadn't played with a katana for a long time and its fun). We die a few times to Manus and I'm giving the tour of the Abyss. So I'm wondering if this guy just doesn't know the drake sword sucks. I've been dropping humanities on each run, just so we can sustain the effort. After a few tries, I drop my +2 queelaq sword and i point at the bonfire (hoping he'll upgrade it more). I only had 1 demon titanite, so next time i drop that. Hopefully by now they're upgrading the thing. Anyway, the next trip to Manus we summon Sif, who is valiantly trying to avenge his master. We get manus down to about 5% life right when i take a dark magic to the face and leave the fight... ... I so hope Sif got revenge! But I'll probably never know... I thought I spotted the phantom at the bonfire again but by then I was cycling with another Undead. Also the queelaq furysword looks amazing from the 3rd person. [link] [comments] |
Caduceus Kite Shields in the Duke's Archives Posted: 28 Feb 2020 12:30 AM PST Just noticed this and havent seen it mentioned anywhere else. It's implied that Seath captures Maidens from the Way of White, who are then turned into Pisacas who roam the cells of the Archives, and I believe the Crystal Hollows are what remains of the Maiden's former guard. Rhea's bodyguards both carry the shield, and you can even find a crystal variant of the Knight Shield on a Mimic in the Archives, which is the shield Petrus carries. So I would assume that the bodyguards of all the maidens captured either tried to free them and failed, or were captured along side them for experiments, and can be found using some of their old equipment today as Crystal Hollows. Anyone else pick up on this? Or am I just nutso Or is this super common knowledge and I'm late to the party [link] [comments] |
Posted: 27 Feb 2020 06:36 PM PST I'm making a strength/faith build, and in one of the videos the guy say that there is the balder side sword and it work wonders with sunlight blade. I started to farm in undead parish, after 9 runs with 410 discovery and nothing, I check to see how rare it drop is and some people saying it could take days. My next run I got 2 swords. Praise RNGesus. [link] [comments] |

Good, relatively quick ways to get to max level in Dark Souls Remastered Posted: 27 Feb 2020 02:02 PM PST I am playing on the PS4, and getting to max level on any souls game is extremely difficult as we all know. So are there any good, and relatively quick ways to get large amounts of souls? May seem like a stupid question but thanks! Praise the Sun! [link] [comments] |
Was there a war between Vinheim and Thorolund? Posted: 28 Feb 2020 12:35 AM PST Hi there! I'm curious where this was stated? Vaati casually mentioned it in one of his recent videos and I'd like to know why they went to war? Thanks in advance! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 27 Feb 2020 05:02 PM PST I'm running a Solaire build currently and was wondering: Is Sunlight Blade worth the effort, or should I just run a lightning Sunlight Straight Sword. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 28 Feb 2020 03:57 AM PST Hello all, Just a quick question about ds1. I've been into the challenge run scene for a while now and wanted to attempt one my self. I've watch Ymfah's videos (he's a legend btw) and he's done a sl1 for the remastered and a 4 bosses only run. I thought it might be fun to try both at the same time. I tried to look up whether or not it had been done before and I couldn't find anything. Does anyone know if it's been attempted and was impossible for some reason or I've not seen their run. Appreciate all the help :) [link] [comments] |
Any switch players wanna help with Manus? Posted: 28 Feb 2020 03:55 AM PST This is a tough one, just Manus and Kalameet before ng+. Any other pre ng+ tips are super welcome. [link] [comments] |

Tips and Game Progress Route to beginners! Posted: 27 Feb 2020 11:09 PM PST are you one of those that understand the difficulty of the game and they like it, but aren't patient enough to handle dying 10 times in a row or getting hardstucked because of things that the game doesn't even give a hint about? Or someone that isn't expecting a challenge, but a nice story and a pleasant rpg experience? then i made this list of things to help you. I'm going to help you through the adventure but i won't be too revealing about the things i'm gonna say. i'll make a good game progress route for you that ain't a challenge but it also ain't too easy. Disclaimer: my native language is not the english, so probably there will be some minor mistakes, i apologize if you have troubles while reading. This is not a step by step guide, this is a list of things that might help new players so they won't get stucked. This is made to read and apply WHILE doing your first journey in Dark Souls, because of that there will be some "spoilers" if you read something that it is beyond your actual progress in the game. This also has a game progress route with only the main areas, and this it's about how to clear the areas, not a full pathing including the (unavoidable) backtrackings, that's something you'll like to do by yourself. TAKE THE MASTER KEY. it is the only good gift, and some of the tips will include the usage of this gift. Pathing: Undead Asylum>Firelink Shrine>Undead Burg>Undead Parish>Darkroot Garden>Lower Undead Burg>Depths>Blighttown>Queelag's domain>Sen's Fortress>Anor Londo>Darkroot Basin>New Londo Ruins>The Abyss>The Duke's Archives>Crystal Cave>Demons Ruins>Lost Izalith>The Catacombs>Tomb of the Giants>Kiln of the First Flame Firelink Shrine There is some "gifts" for you in this area (souls, weapons and items), feel free of exploring. You will and have to explore a lot in this game. Take the stairs of the cliff to begin the journey.
-when you reach a place with two spear and shield undeads, kill'em and destroy the boxes over there, you'll see some stairs, take the stairs to find a merchant and a place with some undeads and items, buy the residence key, a bow and arrows to the merchant. -you'll find a black knight. It's not an easy fight, it's only worth killing him if you wanna test your luck to obtain a good greatsword for a strength build. (And an okay ring) -the only way to pass beneath the red drake is to wait in a corner (so you won't get yo ass burned) until the drake gets down (you can cut his tail to obtain a sword, you can cut almost all dragon's tails) and running to the bonfire, them he will go away and you can grab the Claymore (one of the best greatswords) and some souls
-it's not worth killing the wild pig, but if you want to, you can do it throwing the skulls to the fire or throwing yourself above him and stabbing. -the place downstairs that is full of undeads has an important key, search it. -when you get to the main entrance of the church, go down the stairs in front of the entrance to grab the basement key (don't pull the lever) and above the stairs at the left there is a shiny, it's a halberd, the most broken type of weapon for PvE. -after getting the basement key and the halberd DON'T GO THROUGH THE MAIN ENTRANCE OF THE CHURCH, go back to the hallway and take your left, after killing the undeads go to the downstairs in front of the side entrance of the church, there you'll find a bonfire and a important npc. -the souls of fire guardians increase your estus healing if you give it to a fire guardian. -when you finish clearing the church don't go through the fog gate. Search the second Balder's knight from the second plant, kill him and search a npc locked in a cage, them release him. -you can summon an ally npc before going through some boss fight fog gates.
-when you get to a closed gate, you'll see a wall in the left side of the gate, hit it, it's a fake wall.
i had some troubles finding this area so i'll tell you how to find it in case you need it: after killing Taurus demon you had your second encounter with the drake, before that in the same place you saw a locked door, that's the entrance to Lower Undead Burg. -there is a magician locked up, search him and use the residence key to release him -before going through the fog gate take the stairs at your right and keep going, you'll find a skip to the Firelink Shrine, sit on the Firelink Shrine bonfire and go back to the Lower Undead Burg.
-After killing the butcher, there is some boxes behind the place where the butcher was, that's a skip, take it and search the Spider Shield. -After finding the second butcher, if you go to the room behind him you'll find a pyromance master, the safest way of saving him is rolling to break the barrels. -search an enemy with a trident, if you didn't find him, keep searching, you need to kill him. -you'll find an enemy with two big eyes, dont breathe his poison or you gonna have to go back to the Church bell.
This area is a pain in the ass, but there is no tricks or tips i can give you. You will have a bad time here, but keep it up, it ain't that hard if you think every move you make. The Spider Shield is your best friend here.
-After killing Quelaag and ringing the second bell, you can take the downstairs, there's a fake wall that leads to a fire guardian.
-If you get to the lowest plant, you'll find 2 Titanite Demons alone and two Titanite Demons together, i wouldn't recommend you to spend time dying over and over to obtain four Demonic Titanite but that's your choice. -When you reach the big rocks mechanism, pull the lever to the place where it was a sleeping Serpent-man, after one rock goes through there, pull the lever to the place with no path so it doesn't bother you anymore and go to the place where you throwed a rock, you'll find Big Hat Logan, release him. -before going through the boss fight fog gate go to the stairs in front of the fog gate and kill the Giant Bomber-man.
-After killing the Gargoyle, in the left side of the stairs there is a ground that leads to some sort of bridge to the next building, yes, you gotta go through that shit. -in the lowest part of the moving bridge you'll find a bonfire so you don't need to go through that shitty previous building again. -after passing the black knights with big bows, going through the fog gate and sitting in the Bonfire, you'll see stairs, behind those stairs there is a room, and in that room there is a fireplace, thats a fake wall. -if you take the stairs and you keep an eye to your left, eventually you'll see a hallway with two doors aside and an entrace, you can skip most of the area making a jump from the stairs to that hallway. -the red orb shaked? Then it's time for revenge. Use it. -after killing the bosses, stay with at least 20.000 souls. -shoot Gwynevere's (the big girl laying down) boobs with the bow.
buy the Artorias Emblem to André, and use it in the Darkroot Garden's closed gate. -sit in the bonfire next to the Artorias gate. -behind the Artorias grave there's a ring. that wolf you killed was protecting you from dying in the Abyss and also protecting his master's grave, you're a bad person.
-the Transient Curse is an item that allows you to interact with (kill) ghosts. -if for some reason the red guardian doesn't gives you the seal key, kill him. -after trespassing the fog gate, equip the Artorias Covenant and jump off. -THE ABYSS if you didn't talked to Frampt at all, Kaathe will appear, giving you the option of changing the course of your journey.
This area it's pretty fun to explore, so i won't be giving you any tips.
-When Seath appears, search the shiny crystal and destroy it.
-Don't go straight down to lava, take the bridge to fight Ceaseless Discharge, it's important to kill this boss. -whether if you are Chaos Covenant +2 or not, kill Firesage Demon and Centipede Demon.
-In the Drake's butts area, search for a bonfire inside a fake wall. -after going through the boss fog gate, you'll find Bed of Chaos, the way of killing this boss is going to those spheres and breaking the inside, after breaking both sides, you gotta go to the middle and destroy the inside as well. Pretty shitty fight.
easy zone, just pull the levers and kill the pyromancers to obtain a Skull Lantern. The Rite of Kindling can be used in any bonfire, just kindle the bonfire 3 times.
-The Skull Lantern it's your best friend here. -That guy loves clerics. -Kill the Archer Skeleton, at his left there's a cave with a bonfire down there. IMPORTANT You've got all the lords souls, you are about to end the game, but there's still some things to do: -Play the DLC. To do it you have to go to the Darkroot Basin (through the tower of the Undead Burg) and kill the Hydra, once you've killed it quit and enter again search (without falling) a golden golem, kill him and talk to the girl. Now leave the Darkroot Basin and head to a bonfire, tp to Anor Londo and walk to the Duke's Archives entrance, take the elevator and clear the room, once you kill the golem you'll obtain a Broken Pendant. Them go back to the place where you talked with Dusk and you'll see a portal. After finishing the DLC you can kill every npc to obtain humanities and other items. Buy all the armors from bosses you want Kindle all the bonfires you think could be useful for ng+ (all kindled bonfires remains kindled in ng+) Trade all items to Snuggly because you can only trade them once per ng (search in yt the trade guide) Search all the most valuables materials (Demon Titanite, Titanite Slab and Dragon Scales) Kiln of the First Flame congrats, you made it to the final area, no need to give you more tips. You might think that i've showed you the entire game, but the truth is that if you followed this you've only did the necessary to complete the main story, there is more things to do, optional zones to explore, optional bosses to defeat, a whole arsenal of weapons to test and improve, npc's to know and help, secret items and enemies to discover, a different ending to the first ending you saw, a lot of lore to know and interpretate to create your own theories, and much more! and i won't forget to mention the interesting and fun pvp to test, 120 SL is the meta to fight online, this means that once you reach 120 with a defined playstile you'll have the highest power spike of your playstile and fastest queue to find worlds to invade and areas to protect. So keep it up, Dark Souls has a lot to offer you, even 2 games more! Thanks for reading and again sorry for the english, greetings from Argentina! (if you know more tips or you think something is wrong let me know in the comments to make a research since i'm not a super expert, i've beated the game 4 times only) [link] [comments] |
Posted: 28 Feb 2020 02:28 AM PST if you use estus while invading the burg already twinked, one on one - you lost the fight - you may kill the person you invaded, but that is cowardly. it means your not as good as you think you are. [link] [comments] |
Giving away moonlight great sword. Posted: 28 Feb 2020 02:18 AM PST If your having trouble getting the moonlight great sword I can help with that. Not guaranteeing that you will get it as I just cut it off for someone who posted here asking if someone could drop it for him. I went through the trouble of cutting it off alone. Now he wont respond to my messages. I gave him 12 hours. If he doesn't respond I could give it to someone else. But you have to need it to complete knights honor. Not guaranteed but you could get it EDIT:(dark souls ptde). [link] [comments] |
At work but have a theory on soul farm potential. (Remastered) Posted: 28 Feb 2020 02:13 AM PST So with remastered and the addition of password for summoning. Does the 50% souls to next level when killing an invader work on red soapstone signs? If so I can see summoning a friend in to kill over and over to possible gain souls faster than the spear dudes in painted world. Can someone confirm this before I get back home in several hours to test with my friend? I will update in the comments if I do it before someone else answers. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 28 Feb 2020 12:42 AM PST I played DS3 in the past where I just rolled and stabbed things. I am currently playing DS1 and just rolling does not seem to be as effective. Do I need a shield? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 27 Feb 2020 06:40 PM PST I co-opped dark souls through the entire game with my friend on one character, and then they ran out of humanity to summon me. In this time, I started a new character, and gave them all of my humanity accumulated on my new character. Will I get banned for this? These are all item transfers and also, can I get banned for swapping characters to help them beat bosses? [link] [comments] |
I did not enjoy my play through of Dark Souls Posted: 27 Feb 2020 08:29 PM PST I know it's a bit oxymoronic to follow a subreddit for dark souls and not actually enjoying the game, but I have played through this game twice and have come to the conclusion that I absolutely dislike it. Before I get the mountain of salt calls, or get kicked from the sub, I'd like to say that my souls progression was BB, DS3, DS2, DSR, Sekiro. With this in mind I never had any nostalgia laced memories of the original and thus made my experience as compared to these other games, all of which, outside of dark souls 2 which can royally go fuck itself on the frigid outskirts, I enjoyed more. Now, this is not to say that I cannot appreciate DS1 as the masterpiece that it is, but the slower combat, omni rolling, and sometimes questionable level design just made this a tedious slog. My biggest frustration was why I felt the need to write this post, as I feel that the level design was one of the most touted reasons DS1 was better than the rest. My experience playing in the dark and doing so exclusively solo was a little different. A few examples of frustrations:
I wanted to like this game so much but just couldn't get into it. If I'm missing something or should redo a run with a certain build, I'd like to hear some recommendations. Unfortunately I think this game was just not my cup of tea. [link] [comments] |

Who needs help with ornstein and smough on the switch Posted: 27 Feb 2020 11:34 PM PST |
I just beat dark souls for the first time and I gotta say what a journey Posted: 27 Feb 2020 09:47 AM PST Starting in a prison locked up not knowing what's going on then this dude above you throws a body down giving you a key to your freedom. Then you explore the unknown only to find a giant thicc boy trying to beat the ever living shit out of you. Little did I know I wasnt sapossed to kill him the first time and I was supposed run away only to get revenge moments later. Trying to fight that mad lad with my puny sword wasn't easy but when I killed him I felt incredible. Then I explored some more, made it to firelink and there I made another fatal mistake I killed the guide because he made fun of me. So with no idea where I was supposed to go I head to a a scary water logged tomb. Eventually I realized I'm not sapossed to be here. I accidentally made my way to the first bell after killing the gargoyles and didn't know where to go next. Let's just say I got lost for a very long time. Part of my problem was I picked the master key because I thought it opened every door so it would make the game easier when in reality it hindered me. Eventually I bit the bullet and looked up where to go. After some time I rang the second bell and headed to the fortress. This place was one of my favorites, not only did I feel like Indiana Jones but I've beaten bloodborne a couple of times and kept getting nostalgic memory's of chalice dungeons. After that I made my way to the iron giant and slapped that fool. Then I went to Anor Londo. This was probably not only the hardest area for me but the boss oh that boy Orenstien with his freaking electricity hop after you kill smough has killed me more than all the other boss fight combined. This area was my first get good moment where it was my fault. After some grinding I managed to kill that chunky boy. Then I jacked around some made the snake eat the god egg and had no idea what was next. Once again I tried to figure it out myself but eventually looked it up and went to kill ceaseless discharge. So there I am and I see this big lava boy and it looked like he was sleeping then out if the corner of my eye I see a shiney and I go to pick it up then he gets angry and socks me in the teeth I ran away scared back to the boss door trying to figure out if I should just homeword bone outta here and prepare better but then he leaps at my and then just sat there. I got confused and decided he was sleeping and smacked him a couple time then he just died. I got really confused on what happened and looked it up and was happy that's the way the fromsoftware intended. After that I killed nito who was kinda disappointing but the dark area before him was super cool. After that I went for seath who was my absolute favorite area in the game. It's so cool that you die, get locked up in prison only so kill the dumbass guard and get his key to open the door. This whole area of exploring a magic library was really cool and the part before the boss where you cross invisible platforms was cool after I realized you have to look for where the snow hits the ground. When I got to the boss I was confused on why he was invincible until I saw that crystal and smacked it. After that I got to go back to the scary ghost place and made it to the four Kings which unfortunately was the most laughably easy boss in the game. Then I went inside the snakey Bois mouth and went to the bonefire. When that door opened I had a feeling this was the end of my incredible journey. Killed the last of the knights and went to kill the final boss. At this point I was level 100 with smoughs amor and the man serpent sword +15 with the crystal Knight shield. I think it was a bit of over kill but I killed him. I didnt know that there was two endings but I decided to light the bonefire and finished my journey only to end up back where this all started with the guy killing a hollowed and giving me the key to start an epic journey once again. I want to say if I messed up the order or anything I apologise I was pretty blasted throughout the game but this was one of the most memorable games I've played in my life and I'm now starting dark souls 3 to hopefully build more memories. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 27 Feb 2020 09:28 PM PST ok so I'm nearing the end of the game and I'm wondering if it's a good idea to kill all of the fire keeper before I finish and start ng+ y'know cuz they all respawn (I think) I dont see any negative impact to this is there any? [link] [comments] |
