For those that have been doing Brume Tower and Fume knight for their first time (or are still unsure what's going on in there)

    Posted: 29 Feb 2020 05:32 AM PST

As I was playing coop a lot yesterday I noticed a lot of people summoned me in a boss fight that had 1, 2, 3, hell, even all 4 Nadalia statues active and healing Fume.

Now I'm not mad at them, I don't feel they wasted my time. I had fun regardless.

But as a tip for those interested and this next part could be considered a SPOILER for anyone going in blind so tread lightly I don't know how to make spoiler tags on my phone.

If you want to destroy all 4 Nadalia statues at Fume, there are enough shards in the level to destroy all of them and obtain the 12 needed in the end. BUT!! BIG BIG BUT! (giggity)

One of them is locked behind optional boss, Sir Alonne. Who can be arguably as hard or even harder (because of the boss run also) than Fume.

That being said. Since you must wait untill after Fume to be able to access Alonne If you want to wait for Alonne, DO NOT DESTROY THE FIRST STATUE THAT COMES ALIVE IN THE LEVEL, keep it for last, and try to find all the 10 shards before deciding to destroy anything but those in the boss room. Otherwise try to be mindful and save 4 if them until you do.

The boss can be done anyway you like in the end, but it's much less frustrating for newcomers or first timers to not have him heal back from low health to full health after a grueling 5 minutes of trading blows.

Try at least destroying 3 of the 4 and make sure you practice baiting him away from the last one. But ideally, make it a point to get all 4 statues out of the way.

Oh and side note. If you summon a sunbro or white phantom, try and wait for him or her without triggering all the ennemies in the room. I happened upon a few times when the boss battle was begun and there were all these tough ennemies blocking the fog gate, you either have to fight them alone and risk wasting estus and precious boss helping time, die, or have to spend time baiting them away for a run to the fog.

All the while, you, the host, get a tougher boss battle without the help.

    Hope this can help someone

    Don't give up, skeletons!

Edit : fixed the bit about Alonne as per u/MadsMikkelsenIsGryFx reminder that they key to his area is behind Fume Knight.

Is gravity the most embarrassing way to die as a summon?

    Posted: 29 Feb 2020 09:04 AM PST

I was just helping a host make his way through huntsman's copse, and considering I haven't played the game in years I tend to forget where certain pitfalls are. Sprinting across the bridge to the chariot did not end well for me.

I also fell in the water right before Dragonrider as a summon too, so that may have been worse...

PSA: Dragon Eye signs aren't co-op phantoms.

    Posted: 28 Feb 2020 08:13 PM PST

They're signs for PvP duels, and can't even attack enemies.

I've had two people in a row now summon me like I'm a white phantom and try to progress through the level, and no amount of me swinging at mobs and doing absolutely nothing seemed to clue them in.

As much as it tickles my inner Mound-Maker, please stop making me shoot you in the back. Unless you're into that.

    Is ds2 dead?

    Posted: 29 Feb 2020 11:02 AM PST

I've got over 1,000 hours between ds1 and ds3. I've always wanted to play ds2 pvp but I'm afraid to spend the money to realize it's dead on Xbox. Is it?

Can't believe after 400+ hours on this game I just discovered one of the best weapons ever (Helix Halberd). This is why you should use it.

    Posted: 29 Feb 2020 04:41 AM PST

So I never watch walkthroughs and just browse the wiki pages sometimes and ended up never discovering this thing. It's extremely hidden in a pharros lockstone underwater at Shrine of Amana. I'm on a ng+3 CoC run like I said in previous threads and I watched that Ray Dhmitri video about his top 10 weapons of DS2 to find new weapons to use, and this one caught my attention.

And oh my god, this thing is an absolute beast of a weapon. With sacred oath + crystal magic weapon I was being able to do 1300 damage (!) on Elana with a SINGLE HIT. And this is at company of champions, where your damage is lower because enemies have more resistance. Elana IMO is one of the hardest bosses at higher ng cycles and CoC overall, but this weapon made me cut through her like butter, downed her on my second try.

The weapon is best left uninfused to capitalize on it's insane counter damage, and I recommend a ring setup using RoB (+2 if you have it), Old Leo Ring, Third Dragon Ring and Chloranthy +2. If you use a Flynn setup that can be great as well for A LOT OF DAMAGE, and if you use the Red Tearstone it obviously makes the damage even more insane. Apply resins or spell buffs to your liking.

I believe it only scales with dex, and it only needs 16/20 to be wielded. There is no point in going over 40 dex with this weapon, so it's not very stat hungry. The only real problem is that this weapon is VERY stamina hungry, so it really shines on higher level builds that invest in a lot of endurance. For a weapon like this you honestly can't have enough endurance.

You also need to hit the enemy in a particular distance to get max damage out of it, because the two-handed R2 is a thrust attack that will hit with two blades, making it a double hit and capitalizing greatly on your damage buffs (like Flynn or RoB). So it's a little harder to use than average because, like other halberds, you need to be used to having a sweet spot mechanic.

In conclusion, try this thing out. You will not regret it.

Why the hell would you cheat in a souls game?!

    Posted: 29 Feb 2020 10:14 AM PST

I'm doing a lot of pvp in the brotherhood of blood arena and I'm just tired of cheater teleporting in the spawn chamber, one-shot me and destroying my equip.

Why the hell would you do that? I just can't find any single purpose to do that, am I missing something? Am I the only one who continue to find these kind of """"gamers""""?

Is there any way to report cheater on steam?

So I'm starting Ds2 for the first time

    Posted: 29 Feb 2020 11:46 AM PST

I have completed DS3 minus midir as I only just beat Gael before my son arrived. What PVE things should I be aware of that makes Ds2 different from 3? From the very small amount I have played it seems you don't have I frames on rolls.

    Nashandra - a bit easy?

    Posted: 29 Feb 2020 08:42 AM PST

When I played through Dark Souls, Gwyn took me four and a half hours. Nashandra I beat on my first attempt by basically just tanking her and healing. Did I just get lucky or was she really simple? I didn't want to spend hours on another boss, but I felt it was a bit anticlimactic.

    Best late game co-op bosses?

    Posted: 29 Feb 2020 10:48 AM PST

I need 15 more sunlight medals for the all miracles achievement. I had some success with Fume Knight but now it seems like I'm barely ever getting summoned anymore. My SM is at about 3.3Mil, are there any other good bosses for frequent summons?

Is anyone else not seeing summons or getting invaded?

    Posted: 29 Feb 2020 07:12 AM PST

I started a new character when the Return to Drangleic event started last Sunday because I was late to the entire Souls franchise and never got to experience the multiplayer aspect when it was at it's most popular. Since then, I haven't seen a single summon sign during my travels and I've only been invaded once (which sadly happened when I was on the toilet. Go figure). I've been summoned with a halfway decent success rate, but I've never been able to summon anyone other than NPCs.

I've been making sure I'm playing in zones with the orange rectangle in the travel screen (which I've read is indicative of same-range soul memory players) and I see tons of bloodstains, messages, ghosts, and I'm even getting the occasional message rating. I've tried using the Name-Engraved Ring (Kremmel like the image says) and I've tried not using it but it's the same result. I ended up just removing the ring altogether because I read that when you wear it the NPC summon signs will be removed.

So I'm just curious if yall are seeing the same thing or if its just me and I need to look at the ol' internet settings.

New to the game need some tips.

    Posted: 29 Feb 2020 12:48 PM PST

I'm curious to play ds2, as I'm approaching the end of dsr I have felt an urge to try this game. But I'm having some troubles understanding this game. I already checked that there is the SM system alongside the SL meta of this game and also read about adaptability. So I want my first build to be a quality one, and also to be able to do pvp with this build, I've created a build based on what I understood about the wiki but I'm not sure if it is good , VIG:40, END:25, VIT:19, ATT:10, STR:40, DEX:40, ADP: 25, INT:3, FAI:6.

Is my iframes count equal to other souls games?

What should I change in this build?

How to get myself to enjoy the most of the online in this game during my first playthrough, this is to able to summon, to be summoned and to be invaded?

If you can answer those questions without spoiling the game it would be really good. If it matters I'll play on the ps4.

How's my SM? (Ruin Sentinels co-op)

    Posted: 29 Feb 2020 10:07 AM PST

I dropped my sign outside the Ruin Sentinels fog gate and was able to help 2 people win within about 20 minutes. But when I try to find a summon of my own I'm coming up empty. My SM is 505k. Is that too high/low for this area? Is there a better place to find summons for this boss?

    Fume Knight, the Teacher

    Posted: 28 Feb 2020 07:48 PM PST

This is not a "I just beat the Fume Knight and it was awesome!" nor "I can't beat the Fume Knight and it sucks" post. It's more of "I (still) can't beat this guy and it's awesome!".

I'm back at the Fume Knight for 2 days now, total of about 6 hours of play. He made me quit DS2's DLC's right on the spot on my first playthrough. I fought him for like a couple of hours if that much, could not even scratch this guy. I'm back at the game with that save, and Fumeboi is - still - just merciless.

Thing is... I don't think I had a more fun boss fight in DS2, so far, NOW that I can read his first phase and learned to properly dodge in this game series, honestly. I finished all of the 3 Dark Souls in solo mode, somehow, but this fight... when I first fought him, i felt like it was for another level of skill, honest. Stopped playing DS2 right there and went to wreck stuff in Lothric instead.

But he feels "at-reach" for the first time to me, at one point I was 2 or 3 Zwei-hits away from Glory, but panicked in a corner, got hit and died while chugging an Estus in a very stupid moment. My fault, 100%. I'm now only losing basically in the last moments due to nerves and not yet having memorised all of his moves in the last phase, its a matter of a few more tries and I got this, but I just wanted to say that this fight is pure awesomeness, even for a "bad" DS player like me (I die stupidly many times). In fact, "bad" DS players might stop being so after fighting this guy..

I love how I had to learn to dodge (and respec-ing to a healthy 25 ADP made a huge difference) and the flow of the movements is in lack of a better word, hypnotising almost. There's something about the rhythm of the fight, I don't know. Its just perfect. When I am rolling under his ping sword and laughing at the wide sweep of the other while going for another certain hit, it makes me appreciate truly how this dude fights. He's unpredictable for the most part, but you can read him easy if you learn, since most of the stuff he throws at you it's telegraphed and with practice, one gets the timing of the rolls. But its a Very Tough Boss that never seems to fight the same way, and he can be a d*ck when you are in need of a break. Beware of timing your Estus fix, newcomer. He gets you fast.

Its a HARD fight, one of the hardest in the series to me, for sure, but its so right in its difficulty I don't mind being at it it for the time I have been. Only 2 DS fights where I never, never got even a bit angry at losing for this EXACT same reason were Gael and Artorias. As a so-far-strictly-melee player, I love a damn good sword fight, be it crazy jumps or weirdly-timed stuff you must take your time to learn.

Fume Knight, your a** will be mine, but RESPECT man!
