Can we have a sticky to prevent “I love DS2 and don’t get why people hate it” posts ?

    Posted: 28 Jan 2020 05:08 AM PST

Literally majority of posts in the sub is filled with people just having played the game and ranting about how they don't get why the game is regarded as the weakest. We get it, you liked the game, everyone has their own tastes, but seeing the same thread every day is just annoying.

    Random thoughts

    Posted: 28 Jan 2020 03:09 AM PST

Have you ever considered how inhuman this curse made us? I mean we are able to survive stuff that normal humans would succumb to. Here's an example:rotten's grab, where he breaks your spine, twisting you. a normal person would be literally broken in half but not us, we stand up like nothing happend. We can survive a giant cleaver to the face and brush it off. Another example, we can survive the grab attack of the rampart golems, who impale you and then extra spikes come out of you for that extra impale. We just stand back up. Hell, we can survive literally being eaten alive by a mimic!

My point is that the undead curse gave us inhuman resistances to various elements and attacks. I think we were a normal person before we got cursed

    Like I said, random thoughts

When I summoned you in the Iron Keep to fight the smelter demon, seeing that setup, I'm not gonna lie. I was skeptical.

But watching you throw yourself at the boss and literally punch him to death, while fat rolling away from his strikes, I don't think I've ever laughed so hard in a boss fight. You're the real MVP my guy.

For the love of god, PLEASE, stop summoning Ellie to the Fume Knight boss.

    Posted: 28 Jan 2020 06:46 AM PST

I love this boss, it's one of my favourites in the whole Dark Souls series, i currently killed him 15 times and struggle to end his life for 16th time.

Often, i'm too tilted to do the boss, so i leave a summon sign to help others. Looking at Ellie rising up with me doesn't help my rage...

She's basically useless. Tanky, sure, but by summoning Ellie you actually give Fume Knight 100% more hp, and with summoning more players this value only increases.

So please, pretty please, just ignore Ellie summon sign. I've heard this boss is hard, and many people actually struggle to defeat him. Don't give yourself more work if you wanna just beat him. I enjoy the challenge, but seeing the 6th host in a row dying destroys my will to live.

Please, don't summon Ellie if you don't fight Fume for enjoyment. It's for your own good.

Dark Souls 2 has the best hollowing mechanic

    Posted: 28 Jan 2020 03:58 AM PST

Each time you die, it is like losing part of yourself, part of your sanity and part of your strength.

Just like how in real life, when experiencing failure, it affects you mentally and emotionally. At some point, it could affect you so much that you are unable to do anything at all.

The only way to improve the hollowing would be allow the player to go completely hollow when the HP from all the deaths reaches 0. Resulting in game over and character loss.

I did the worst playthrough ever(partially), but i am proud :D

    Posted: 27 Jan 2020 10:57 PM PST

So i did it. I started like a year ago to do a "despawn/clear" all enemys run. First a char with only cestus, but somehow that save got deleted after i encountered some problems with Steam. After that i went with a paladin build. Sword and Shield wielding priest. And with him i beat the main game and the old iron king DLC Right now and despawned every enemy that is despawnable.

After more than 150 Hours and now soullevel 240 and 10.000.000 soulmemory i "completed" it. Now all thats left are the DLCs "Old ivory king" and "sunken king". But for now i am quite proud for my, i guess stubborness.

And if someone wants to ask: Should i try that run? Answer: NO!

And if someone wants i can post pics/Videos of all cleared Areas and my Status screen.

    Stone Ring affects Shield Bash?

    Posted: 28 Jan 2020 11:08 AM PST

I'm currently doing a only shield pvp build and I'm struggling to choose my rings. Shield bash is such a specific and underused way to combat, I don't know what works best. Any advices?

    Golem doors in Drangleic castle

    Posted: 28 Jan 2020 11:04 AM PST

My 2 previous runs the Golem doors near the first Castle bonfire opened « automatically » meaning I did no action nor intentionally move close to one of the stone Golem.

Now they just wont open, on flextralife wiki I see I see I need to « feed them » a soul, got a soul in my inventory, what do I need to do?

Same thing with the castle doors, i just fought a bunch of soldiers rolling everywhere and the doors finally opened up but I have no clue how I did

I see activity but there are no summons

    Posted: 28 Jan 2020 09:53 AM PST

Basically I see the orange highlights when I choose a bonfire to travel to but I don't get much summons. I'm trying to collect sunlight medals. Soul Memory is 1Mil atm (isn't that high for someone who just got the 4 great souls?)

Anyway is this normal? Should I get the agape ring? Any tips?

What do you listen to while you play?

    Posted: 28 Jan 2020 09:46 AM PST

The game audio isn't the most crucial or inspiring part of the game and I like to put on a record or five while I play. Lately it's been atmospheric death and some epic doom. Anyone find anything else that seems to fit the mood of the game?

    Should I buy ds2 on ps4?

    Posted: 28 Jan 2020 03:28 AM PST

I have all the other souls games so I'm thinking about buying ds2 as well, the problem is that I've heard some not so great things about it and especially towards the version available on ps4, is it worth a buy?

    Regarding body blocking...

    Posted: 28 Jan 2020 08:46 AM PST

So I was halfway through my NG+ run when I decided to go to the Forest of the Forgotten Giants. Im offline so my friends cant help me so I turn to the one npc before the Giant boss fight; Sellsword Luet. Ive got the boss down to one hit and luet has barely taken any damage. Im one shot away from victory or defeat and this asshat of a phantom body blocks me right into the giants attack. Can we get an f in the comments for the retardation of npc phantoms everywhere.

    Problem with Sir Alonne

    Posted: 28 Jan 2020 08:19 AM PST

Before I begin, I like this boss. I've beat him a few times (mostly dex).

Now, he is so fast. That's the problem. From run up to boss himself, everything is faster than DS2 standards.

Today, I tried to beat him with my hexer cause him and Blue Smelter were the only ones left.

I wasn't able to use chime hexes because every time I try it was a trade, my cast speed was around 148 (don't have Clear Bluestone Ring) so I just sticked to Dark Orb and MGS. I bait his thrust attack then shoot an orb, that's all I could do.

Same with healing. Why do we need to level up a stat just to drink Estus faster? I have 105 agility but even after thrust attack (which is the attack that leaves him open for the longest time) I get hit if I try to use Estus. And I am not even talking about using lifegems. It's like, healing is up to Sir Alonne's mood. He decides either you're healing or not. That's not the case with other bosses.

Then I switched to 2H MGS because casting magic was riskier. Damage was okay it but its moveset is bad. 1H rolling attack is good but 2H one is shit, combine it with DS2's clunky combat mechanic that ignores lock on when you roll, I was mostly missing roll attacks when I roll behind him.

You don't have to adjust this in other series, if it's gonna attack somewhere else why do we even have lock on?

His run up his shitty too, Alonne knights are fast in the same way. Their thrust attack can reach you in a blink of an eye and there are loads of them.

I can understand these dlc areas are designed for co-op but not everyone likes to wait for another players to complete a level and not to mention this game has soul memory.

This boss is nowhere near to Fume Knight. At least Fume is fair, you don't need stupid amount of agility and this fight doesn't have a run up like Alonne's.

You have to be fast, that's it. But not every build allows you to be that fast and you can't dump every level to ADP.

    Sir Alonne Problem

    Posted: 28 Jan 2020 07:41 AM PST

Before I begin, I like this boss. I've beat him a few times (mostly dex).

Now, he is so fast. That's the problem. From run up to boss himself, everything is faster than DS2 standards.

Today, I tried to beat him with my hexer cause him and Blue Smelter were the only ones left.

I was using Hexer Hood, Lion Mage Set, Abyss Seal, Southern Ritual Band, Third Dragon Ring and Ring of Steal Protection +1, Dark Sunset Staff +10, Dark Chime of Want +5, Drangleic Shield +1 and Enchanted Moonlight Greatsword +4. My equip load was somewhere around 30-40.

I tried to heal after his slide too but he does his slash combo. And I am not even talking about using lifegems. It's like, healing is up to Sir Alonne's mood. He decides either you're healing or not. That's not the case with other bosses.

Then I switched to 2H MGS which has A scaling in INT (I have 65 INT), it was dealing around 400 ish damage per hit so it seemed better than Dark Orb.

But problem is, its moveset is bad.

Another thing, he drains stamina too much if you try to block.

His run up his shitty too, Alonne knights are fast in the same way. Their thrust attack can reach you in a blink of an eye and there are loads of them. Trying to drop down to lower floor with an army of Alonnes when a lizard is shooting fireballs is cancer. Lower floor has 2 archers and they are pretty accurate unfortunately.

He is a challenge rather than a "let's make a hard boss and call it a challenge). His speed is good for DS2 standards. And he actually lets you heal after certain attacks.

He is a good boss but doesn't fit this game as much as others. He can be bullshit rather than a challenge for some builds and playstyles. You have to be fast, that's it. But not every build allows you to be that fast and you can't dump every level to ADP.

I’ve been invaded more in the last three hours then my entire run of DSR, 3 and BB

    Posted: 27 Jan 2020 07:51 PM PST

Haha I'm not great at pvp. In fact I've only won once in DSR. So far in this game and this run its nonstop.

I don't mind it really, I'm just shocked to see it so active. Tonight has been a funny night. Glad to see everyone is enjoying themselves.

    Monday mania huh?

Need help with stats, rings, and spells for my faith build

    Posted: 28 Jan 2020 06:12 AM PST

Title. I've already planned what gear I'm going to be using, but since it's only my second playthrough of DS2 (and my first one using a faith character), I don't know what I should use for my rings, spells, and stats.

    I've made a preset here: https://soulsplanner.com/darksouls2/8106

The preset contains my preferred gear (with infusions already applied), and I've only gone and added base stats to use them (which I also will probably keep that way). The idea around the build is for it to be a tanky melee fighter, but also have the ability to use some utility as well as offensive miracles (since there are so many cool ones in this game).

If anyone would be so kind as to give me tips or even expand upon the template I provided, it would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance! ;)

TL;DR: Need help with stats, rings, and spells for my faith character. Check the SoulsPlanner link and/or give tips in comments. Any help is appreciated.
