Is heide sword still possible to drop?

    Posted: 30 Jan 2020 08:39 AM PST

I just bought the scholar edition and I wanted to go with a faith build, so that sword was my first choice as weapon, but I despawned all of the heide knights without dropping anything, is it just as rare as the trident in ds1 or they removed the weapon along with the set?

It keeps telling me the Service is not available and I don't understand is there a way to fix this? Because I like to play online with other people in order to be summoned/summon other people.

SunBro rant about the pursuer and his ballista...

    Posted: 30 Jan 2020 01:07 PM PST

I have to get this off my chest for once, been sunbroing for a long time in DS2 and please for the love of god please if you call for help against the pursuer boss fight STOP USING DE GODDA*** ballista.

Seriously i know that if you are good at parrying it trivialize the fight but for every host/summon i see that can use it effectively, i see about 20 who just spam the attack and end up killing players.

You know it's a bad sign when as a summon, if i see someone make a run for the ballistas my first reaction is to drag the boss over there so he can trash them

    edited for typo

    purely curious, no hate.

    Posted: 30 Jan 2020 09:28 AM PST

is dark souls 2 canon? i allllways see people skip over it and since it wasnt miyazakis vision, i could see why it wouldnt be considered canon. BUT its still dark souls and its still from software and its still a great cryptic game. but im just purely curious if it is even regarded as canon or if it will always be stuck as the middle child. thanks! :D

Let's talk about bosses (general discussion)

    Posted: 30 Jan 2020 01:08 PM PST

Share your opinions about bosses. Which one is your favourite and why? Which bosses are bad in your opinion? etc.

You can ask for advice if you have problems with a certain boss or you can help others.

Or anything you want to talk about.

    Fume knight play through

    Posted: 30 Jan 2020 10:54 AM PST

I'm gonna dedicate a whole play through to killing Fume Knight, because I can never seem to do it with my play style. So I'm looking for help, what class should I start with, a good level to be at for him, and the best weapon. It's been a while but if I remember correctly Magic does jack s**t to him, so ill probably need to focus on strength and Dex right?

What is everyones favorite build/playthrough for DkS2?

Personally if I'm not doing Classy or SL1 runs I play at around SL150 with my Dark Warp Sword build. (Build open for critique)

God I hate the run back to darklurker.

    Posted: 30 Jan 2020 03:01 PM PST

If there is one area I dread more than all the areas combined, the gank is more likely to kill me and often stops me from getting to darklurker. And the fact you MUST use a human effigy every time I want to fight darklurker makes the fight more difficult. Any advice to get to this god forsaken area?

    Bossfight Database: Sir Alonne

    Posted: 30 Jan 2020 10:53 AM PST

For this type of guide, i'll be dividing bosses in some categories:

Damage - self explanatory, how much damage a boss can dish out at you.

Mobility - how easy or difficult is to follow through the boss's patterns.

Learning - how easy or hard is to learn the boss's attacks and patterns.

Punish - how much the boss will punish you for doing an action wrong or healing/buffing at the wrong time.

Bulshit - how much unfair or not the fight against the boss is.

All the above can be ranked from 1 all the way up to 5, now to how Alonne ranks in them overall:

    Damage - 3.5/5

    Mobility - 5/5

    Learning - 3/5

    Punish - 4/5

    Bulshit - 2/5

Overall analysis: Alonne is by far not only my favorite boss on the game, but he's also the most fair challenge in the game along with Raime (Fume Knight). His theme is stellar, along with the fact that if you play optimally by not taking any hits, he'll commit seppuku. The only bad thing about his bossfight is how you always have to run back to him going through the bulshit gank of knights.

Moveset: Alonne doesn't have a very difficult set to learn or memorize, the hard part is to dodge all of them. One thing about him is that nearly all of his attacks come from his RIGHT side, so for preventing major deaths its better to either roll backwards or to his right. Now to his array of moves:

Upward Slash: Alonne will almost always start with this move as soon as you enter the arena. He has the slower version which has a longer wind-up, and he has the quick one being the most dangerous.

2 or 3 hit combo: Alonne from time to time will walk up to you instead or going for the Upward Slash, doing a 2 or 3 hit combo being the last one more delayed and a lunge forwards.

Parry: even if it doesn't look like, Alonne has a parry. It's not bery noticeable due to him using it while walking towards you.

Grab Attack: Alonne will charge his blade and try stabbing you, buffing his damage (i don't know if its like that due to me never being affected by it).

Ground Slam: upon reaching <40% HP, Alonne will start jumping upwards to stab you on the ground.

Darkmoon Blade: Alonne will charge his blade and swipe it from a distance, launching the Dark Greatsword's magic projectile at you.

The Strategy - Alonne overall has a decently fast moveset, catching up to you pretty quickly and not giving you nearly any breaches on his fight, as well as having no elemetal damage weakness (just like Sheer Heart Attack). But a good strategy for him is:

    • ALWAYS walk to his right every time he isn't using the Upward Slash or Darkmoon Blade.

    • Roll backwards to avoid major problems on his fight.

    • Delay your rolls (but not as much as with Aava) and wait for the right moment to attack.

    • Do NOT attack him more than one or two times (considering you're using a fast weapon like the rapier, but with a slower one it'll always be once he gives the chance).

-Don't attack him whenever his sword is at his LEFT side (this is the parry window he has).

    • ALWAYS bow to him every time you'll start a fight, because he deserves a lot of respect for the quality boss he is.

Any tips for this game that you guys could give me?

    Posted: 30 Jan 2020 01:32 PM PST

This game makes me want to rage. I'm in the middle of playing Dark Souls 1 and I'm in Anor Londo, but I'm getting a little burnt out so I decided to switch games and try out Dark Souls 2 for a little bit.

I'm in the middle of forest of fallen giants and I hate this place. I hate the three archers that constantly bombard you with arrows. I hate how the turtle dudes respawn. And I hate the addition of life gems, I would be fine with them if they didn't deplete so quickly. I also hate that you're only given ONE estus flask. The hollows that constantly bombard you with firebombs while you try to fight two hollow knights don't help either.

    Weapon recommendations

    Posted: 30 Jan 2020 04:06 AM PST

Some friends and i are starting a new ds2 run soon and i don't know what build to go for. So far i've done 2 runs. A quality build where i mostly used the claymore and a INT build where i used straight swords and dragonride twinblades. So what else are some good and fun weapons for PVE?

What should I do with this crappy build?

    Posted: 30 Jan 2020 09:12 AM PST

First playthrough. I read that Cleric is good, and thought I'd go for something of a lightweight tank with healing and lightning miracles.

Imagine my confusion and dismay when I put so many souls into levelling Faith and Attunement so I could hurl thousands of lightning spears into my helpless enemies, only to find that the information I read online predated the lightning spear nerf. Healing is still handy, but it's not the build I had in mind.

Since then, I've sort of gone off the rails by experimenting with this and that, so my build now feels aimless and mediocre for SL74.

What should I do with these stats? Can my build be salvaged at this point by re-focusing my efforts into certain stats and choosing the right gear? Or should I try to re-spec?

    VGR- 23

    END -20

    VIT - 9

    ATN - 16

    STR - 16

    DEX - 7

    ADP - 10

    INT - 4

    FAI - 22

Main weapon - Mace +6 and shield

    About to play the game

    Posted: 30 Jan 2020 07:53 AM PST

I just fisnished DS1 and I want to play the next game in the trilogy. First off, what class would be best? My DS1 playthrough was a sorcerer, so I want to ask if it's the same slow ass start and killing Gwyn with 3 Dark Beads in the end. Are there any new more exciting types of magic instead of the same point and shoot 98% of the time? Are pyromancies decent and are miracles ok offensively (I really don't feel like just having healing and defensive spells). Would going full melee this time be worth it? And while I'm at it, what starting gift would be the best?
