What I wish items randomizers did

    Posted: 03 Dec 2019 10:03 AM PST

Item Randomizers seem like one of the coolest ideas ever! ESPECIALLY for Dark Souls 2, given how much choice you have on what order to visit all the places you need to progress through the game.

Unfortunately though, in my opinion, the randomizers do too much. Here's a couple of things that I feel would make them a lot more fun.

    • Keep boss drops the same. Bosses should drop their own souls, as that's what makes sense. There's no reason to find Nashandras soul on a corpse in Majula.
    • Keep NPC gifts the same. NPC gifts can be missed, and having potentially important items at the end of a long quest chain forces you to do every NPC quest, which isn't very fun.
    • Keep covenant rank up items the same. I don't know what kind of drugs any item randomizer was smoking when they decided to have multiplayer covenants just randomly be able to have important items like fucking KEYS. You want me to get rank 3 in the Blue Sentinels to get a smelter wedge? Are you insane?

Difficulty of Dark Souls 2 and how to stop getting stuck

    Posted: 03 Dec 2019 06:25 AM PST

I'm a noob to dark souls. I'm still in the forest of giants. My strategy is just to kill the same creatures by the forest again and again. Should I just keep doing this and leveling up until I'm strong enough to stop getting killed or press on, run, and find more campfires?

    Farming for sunlight medals

    Posted: 03 Dec 2019 09:02 AM PST

So i wanted to get the platinum for ds2, ng++ I have everything except the spell that you need to offer 30 sunlight medals for. At first farming was going as expected get about 1 medal every 2 runthrougs. I got a total of 20 and they just completely stopped dropping, I'm talking a literal hour of farming and not a single sm dropped for me. Tried resetting the game and even popped a bonfire ascetic but it doesn't change anything. I was wondering if there's a limit to the drops or if I'm just very unlucky.

    Mysterious Twinkling Titanite in Majula

    Posted: 02 Dec 2019 11:15 PM PST

For the past couple of runs I've done on two different characters, I've been given, seemingly out of nowhere, a single Twinkling Titanite while walking in the Majula hub towards the Things Betwixt area.

For a bit of context, these have been No Death & No Bonfire attempts, on the SOTFS game. After failing attempt #1, and now on attempt #2, I've seen this phenomenon at similar points in gameplay:

    • I clear the Things Betwixt area of all enemies (except for kobolds),

    • walk back to Majula to level up,

    • go back towards Things Betwixt for the purpose of using a Soul Vessel to reallocate my stats,

    • as I near the connecting cave and the Majula music fades is when the message appears on screen, that I've received 1x Twinkling Titanite. I receive no souls when this happens.

Just wanted to post this here to see if anyone else has seen a similar phenomenon, or if anyone knows what could be causing this?

Playing SotFS for the first time

    Posted: 02 Dec 2019 10:07 PM PST

I recently got the trilogy for PS4 and was think of playing it after I finish fallen order. I've played all three games, but only played DS2 on Xbox 360. I was wondering how much harder is the game with the new enemy placements

    I'm having a bad time

    Posted: 02 Dec 2019 03:10 PM PST

Mt first game was DS3 and I loved it. After that, I've finished BB and DS1, so I decided to give DS2 a chance. I am currently at Blue smelter demon and boy this journey was not fun. I like difficulty in video games, I like strong bosses that require you to learn their moveset to beat them. What I don't like, are unfair and clunky mechanics. Why the hell does it take 10 minutes to drink an estus? Am I the only one who finds the hollow mechanic where you lose health stupid? The roll response time also doesn't feel right.

So why all this hate? Let me explain my position. So as I said, I'm at Blue Smelter, the boss itself is rather difficult so its taking me a few attempts and you all know that goddamn path before the boss. Everytime I lose because apparently I didnt have 5 seconds free to drink an estus, I have to travel to all this bullshit, where the rng decides if I lose on the way or the mobs will make me lose 3 estus. And when I get to the fog, that giant thing hits me and drags me out of it (IFrames?????). And it goes on and on with me losing effigies and patience.

I am really at point where I want to give up and I haven't even made the 30 attempts. It's just not fun. I remember Friede in DS3 where it took me around 50-60 attempts and I was keep coming back for more, enjoying getting my ass beaten. But this, this is terrible.

Anyone been in my position? And for you who like this game, any tips for not breaking my tv? I mean compare to other games its good. But DS2 is a difficult game rather than a fun game in my opinion. Thoughts?

    Regarding SOTFS

    Posted: 02 Dec 2019 07:35 PM PST

I think I have the original version of the game since the enemy placement is the same as I remember, so I was wondering if there is a way to get the updated enemy placement without having to buy the game again.

I was thinking of getting the DLC for Christmas so I was wondering if there was a way to get it along with the Updated version.

    Thanks.
