| Posted: 15 Nov 2019 05:01 PM PST It's my first playthrough so I was just tromping around in the woods area and I came across a door. Decided to open and saw a cool looking sword sticking out of the ground. Thinking there was going to be some sort of "King Arthur" gimmick following I walked towards the sword. At this point I knew it was a boss fight. I was expecting some giant knight to appear and wield the sword in arms against me. I did not get a giant knight, but a cute looking pupper instead. I thought maybe he was going to guide me or something, but he grabbed the sword in his maw instead. I didn't want to fight him. I knew the game wanted me to, but I really didn't. Every time I attacked the doggo I winced. When the poor boy got down to 25% he started whimpering and moving slower. Probably the saddest moment in any video ever was when the puppers was at low health, and painstakingly slowly swung the sword at me, you could tell he was in great pain because his lunges were much slower. I hope it's nasty demons and terrible knights from here on out P.S. just got to Anor Londo :( [link] [comments] |
| I swear I’ve died more times to falling than to all other reasons combined Posted: 15 Nov 2019 03:16 PM PST I'm currently running through NG+, cruising through all the bosses in one try (except that dumb Capra demon with those dogs), in part because I'm probably overleveled and also because I know all their timings by now. But MY WORD is it so defeating to die from rolling right off the edge. I'm not even at the Bed of Chaos yet, it's the Iron Golem that just keeps tossing me over the edge, or I strafe right off. And don't even get me started on blighttown, the great hollow, or Sen's fortress. I thought I got gud, but couldn't these monsters have installed a few more handrails? [link] [comments] |

| Figuring the shield shove... together! Posted: 16 Nov 2019 03:17 AM PST If you don't know yet, if you equip a shield in your right hand you can do a shove by pressing forward+R1 akin to kicking. At first glance the shove appears to be just a kick reskin.... until you realize that it has autoguard. That means during the entire shove's animation (even while recovering) the game thinks you're blocking, so if an enemy would hit you during the shove they'd get deflected! Add the fact that it also puts the enemy into instability frames on hit just like a kick which boosts your next attack by 40%, and this is potentially a very very powerful move.
Unfortunately, although on hit it staggers the same way the kick does, it recovers slower than a kick so it doesn't share the same guaranteed followups. And right now there's almost no documentation on it except for a brief mention by Limit Breaker: So why don't we test this potentially powerful move by ourselves? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 15 Nov 2019 08:30 PM PST It would be cool if Gough was in a bigger arena and if you attacked him it would trigger a badass cutscene and the boss fight would start where Gough uses his bow in ways every other enemy in the game doesn't. Same with Ciaran, it would be so cool to fight a really overpowered enemy that was actually your size and extremely quick and I wish they both had their own themes. Or what would also be awesome is if you could summon Ciaran or Gough to help you free Artorias of his suffering. [link] [comments] |
| Posted: 15 Nov 2019 07:10 PM PST I have now finished my first playthrough of DS, and what a ride it was. I went in totally blind and stayed away from guides/spoilers. I am very proud of myself. 47 hours and LVL 89. Uchigatana+15/spider shield+10/elite knight set+8 The game is easy a 10/10 and I will recommend it to any and all. (following might contain minor spoilers) The game is very frontloaded with difficulty. I don't think I did "git gud" as much as when the weapon and armor scaling kicks in around halfway, the game gets more forgiving. Up to Ornstein and Smough I would say 5->many tries per boss. I managed to get my Uchi to +15 in ruins and then it was easy sailing. (relatively) I actually had most problems with Bed of chaos because I really had no clue what to do. Hardest boss - Tower gargoyles because you are not ready for it. I have already bought all souls like games I can get my hands on. DS2 is up next. [link] [comments] |

| Posted: 16 Nov 2019 12:36 AM PST Hi everyone, So the whole reason I got DSR was because I was looking for a game with engaging combat, and this game delivered. However, because of the strife I endured at the Lord Soul areas, I don't intend on doing another playthrough for a while. Now I want to know: which game has the more fun combat? I'm a fan of Sekiro's deflect system, since I always liked parrying more than dodging in DSR since it was just more fun and effective personally, and I heard DS3 parries don't mean shit. On the other hand, I'm not a fan of Sekiro's lack of customization and the armor sets in DS3 look way better than DS1 in terms of what I was looking for (a knight in shining armor and NO RAGS ON HIS BODY). Also, the variety of weapons and weapon arts seems like it has more replay value than Sekiro. With all that being said, please help me decide. I always summoned someone to help me with the four kings and I gotta admit it took me 13 tries to finally kill them by myself. I feel so great about it now that I've done it all on my own. I was rocking smoughs leggings and chest piece and gauntlets AND the mask of the child. For the weapon and shield, I was wielding the zweihander +13 and the grass Crest sheild. | Having trouble getting DS4 Windows to work with my new computer in DS1 Posted: 16 Nov 2019 12:21 AM PST I used to use this program on my old computer just fine. But for some reason when i check "hide controller," it ALWAYS says that "warning cannont open ds4 exclusively you must quit other applications like steam, uplay, etc...." I've closed steam. I've closed literally every single fucking thing on my computer. Why is this not working? I've disabled the windows game bar, I dont have teamspeak at all, i dont have goggalaxy up, etc etc. It is refusing to work properly. I even closed stuff like nvidia experience and chrome. Nothing is working. Has anyone experienced this and found a fix? This is incredibly frustrating because no matter how I word my search on google, i get threads full of people saying they close steam/teamspeak and it works, but that isnt happening for me. The floor breaking scared me shitless. Couldnt find way up. Jumped down. The teeth monster ate me. 8 humanity and 80k souls. Ran back. In my mind: fuck this. Ill throw firebombs. I get there and for some reason I equipped my poison resistance gear, the ring that allows me to move in swamp, said out loud: you guys are so fucked right now. Forgot the bombs. Jumped down. All of them instantly spit acid at me. Got 1 shotted, gear broken and lost all my souls and humanity. Fuck this place. [link] [comments] |

| Reaction times between platforms Posted: 15 Nov 2019 04:48 PM PST I was recently gifted a Nintendo switch so first game was obviously super smash, but then dark souls. I feel like the reaction times are different in that I need to dodge or parry a few frames earlier than on my Xbox 1 (standard controller if that matters) is this just how it is or if there more to it?
