[celebration] just had Armorer Dennis drop the Clear Bluestone ring +2 for my hexer

    Posted: 14 Nov 2019 07:33 AM PST

I really dislike using bonfire ascetics on bosses, so I was planning on just using the clear bluestone +1 until I got to the skeleton lords in NG+. But then Armorer Dennis, bless his soul, dropped the +2 ring for me. I'm so thankful he did it on an actual caster and not my martial characters.

    Anyway, that is all.

    Im stuck

    Posted: 14 Nov 2019 12:20 PM PST

So, after killing the dragon riders boss i went further and there was an elevator shaft, but no elevator. I see that in everyones play through the elevator is there but in mine it isnt. I tried everything but im still stuck. I cant find a way to call or activate the elevator, and i also found no tutorial or answer anywhere on the internet. So if anyone knows why this is happening or how to fix it, i would be most grateful. Any advice helps. Thanks : )

Am I over leveled to the point where I'm making the game too easy?

    Posted: 14 Nov 2019 05:57 AM PST

I'm currently SL120 and making my way through Iron Keep right now. For context, this is the last of the 4 Old Soul bosses I need to beat, so I've gone through most of the other content already.

Am I over-leveled? I can't tell if the difficulty I'm experiencing is what most people experience.

    First Time at Iron Keep

...geez. It's not a joke out here. These alonne knights swarm like flies on the narrow walkways.

    Got any tips?

Also as a side note, is the covetous demon being a hard fight just a meme? Or did I just get lucky? He seemed easy.

    Ds2 Gimmicks and mechanics

    Posted: 14 Nov 2019 10:20 AM PST

I'd honestly wager that ds2 was probably the most ambitious of the series when it comes to new additions and mechanics/gimmicks. Some of them are fantastic, some are....less than good.

What is the best and worse ones in ur opinion?

(For me, the best was life gems and the covenants. I love the champions covenant.

The worse was either adp, or the weapon durability making it feel like my giant sword was made out of glass)

I have 7 Pharros' lockstones. Where should I use them?

    Posted: 14 Nov 2019 10:51 AM PST

Hey, just wondering where I should use them. I've already got the one in the Forest of Fallen Giants in the room beneath the ballista or whatever they are. But I've been cautious not to waste them.

Finishing the game for the first time...

    Posted: 14 Nov 2019 09:58 AM PST

Hey everyone I just finished Dark Souls 2 for the first time and I wanted to give my thoughts. For context I've played Bloodborne and Dark Souls 1. While I do think this game was the weakest of the 3 I've played so far I think the hate it gets is undeserved and it's a great game in its own right. I'm not really sure what I'm getting at with this post I just wanted to share a little bit of my experience with the game and discuss it with others.

    My Top 3 Best Bosses

    1. Fume Knight, this guy in my opinion is pretty much the perfect challenge. He hits hard but his moves are not too difficult to dodge. I was surprised this seems to be most peoples toughest boss. He took me around 6 or 7 tries compared to Sir Alonne who took 25+

    2. Burnt Ivory King, the whole aesthetic of this boss is amazing. Gathering the four knights then having them stand to attention as you approach and diving into hell together. Then leading your mini army to battle and the king appearing engulfed in flame with the music on high volume was just unreal.

    3. Sinh, this could be because I did the fight whilst high as fuck and the cinematic nature of the fight with the boss flying around, breathing fire and smashing towers was just insane to me, not too difficult but a very intense fight given the circumstances hahaha.

Honourable mention to Sir Alonne, maybe would have made the list if the run up to him wasn't so annoying. When I finally learned his attack patterns and was dodging every combo it felt like I had really gotten better as a player.

Sone things I want to moan about...

I feel like certain things in this game are a little too obscure. For example I was stuck on Mytha for a good while until I gave up and looked at a guide. So you're supposed to know to randomly burn this metal looking windmill by standing on this tiny unimportant looking ledge and nearly falling off which will somehow remove the poison from the boss room???

There are just too many low quality bosses, I'd much rather fight 20 good bosses than 30 mediocre ones and 10 good ones but that's my opinion. I mean Prowling Magus for example, what is the point?

The run ups to certain bosses are just awful, some will have a bonfire right outside the fog gate, others you have to make it past 15 enemies. Special shout out to the run up to Alonne, boring stone hallways with annoyingly fast enemies making it very difficult to run past them. I ended up permanently despawning them haha.

The world makes no sense, I guess I was spoiled by DS1 with it logically connected map but I do think it's a shame they gave up on this idea.

I finished the game with 197 total deaths, a lot of those down to stupidity and getting over confident. I played 90% of the game with an ultra greatsword and light armour, rarely used a shield as I wanted a more active play style.

Overall I really enjoyed the game, my one regret would probably be that I didn't engage in any multiplayer stuff. I might come back and attempt the platinum one day but for now...

Onwards to Dark Souls 3! (Anyone have any tips for me haha?)

    Black screen problems

    Posted: 14 Nov 2019 05:12 AM PST

I have just acquired DS 2 SotFF through steam, and whenever I try to play it I just get a black screen. Seems like a pretty common problem.

Anyone has a solution? Windows 10 btw.

I’m doing a challenge I thought up. Not sure if its been done.

    Posted: 14 Nov 2019 08:33 AM PST

Im going to be killing every enemy in the area until it no longer respawns before moving onto the next area. I don't expect this to be HARD but rather really time consuming. I will be documenting things such as total souls gained from each area. I'm also going to he exempting majula because those little pigs are just too hard that early into the game (at least for me) im starting it now, but wanted to hear the community's thoughts.

EDIT: a friend of mine thinks this is way too easy to be considered a challenge. How else should i limit myself? Edit 2: Also no bonfire for healing, traveling, or repair. Only when all enemys are clear and i need to respawn them Limited to 3 level ups per area under the following circumstances: cleared all enemys with 0 deaths = 1 level Cleared boss with no deaths = 1 level, collected all items in map = 1 level.

Need help with something I'm having huge trouble with: Hexer Fashionsouls

    Posted: 13 Nov 2019 10:53 PM PST

As we all know, fashion is the most important thing in this game, but I just can't figure out a cool combination that fits my hexer build.

This is what he looks like right now. Set is Black Hood, Nahr Alma Robes, and Black Gloves+Boots

It doesn't look too bad, but I feel it could be better. The spider legs at the back really look cool, but the Black Hood looks so stupid with this set since the huge-ass fur part of the robes cover the shoulder part of the hood. Just look at his head, it looks so round. Also it doesn't look "hexer-like" at all.

I've tried replacing other parts except the Black Hood since it's essential to this build. I tried the Lion Mage and Bone King robes and I don't like how you're semi naked with them. Chaos Robes and Hexer Robes doesn't match the hood's color scheme, and I don't like how the Black Robes look (it looks too clean and "sorcerer-ish" for my tastes and I dont like how it shows a huge part of the neck). Same problem with the Llwelyn and King's sets, they look cool, but they don't look too "hexer-like".

Any tips on which other armor to wear?
