    Dialogue Appreciation Post (slight spoilers)

    Posted: 09 Nov 2019 02:38 AM PST

TL;DR : some dialogues in the game are unappreciated and deserve more recognition

It's a shame that most of the dialogues in the game goes unappreciated and especially compared to the other games in the series. A lot of them are really memorable like

Sweet Shalquoir talking about the Old Iron King "The human ego...How many ugly castles has it erected?" or once getting the Giant's Kinship "Honourable Sovereign, take your throne. And do great things, if it, please"

or Maughlin when he becomes a stuck up and laughs because he became rich but starts to sturder like he used to when he mentions his home "I'm rich, I'm rich... I don't need to go home anymore! Home...home...?Where... where is home...?

or Saulden regains a bit of hope when Majula becomes populated "Ouite a hive of activity we are, these days. I'd forgotten how much comfort a little companionship can bring. Once, I'd lost everything, but now... I am grateful. For what you have taught me."

or Felkin talking about why he has chosen Hexes "Hexes ar..are more then mere tools to me... I feel affinity... and warmth... Something universal, nostalgia... even... Those who discover Dark... realise this... And... they never come back"

or after helping Tark with Najka "I have no gods to pray to. But still I pray that your journey will be safe."

or Drummond defending Drangleic in the past "My blade may break,my arrows fall wide, but my will shall never be broken. Those who live by the sword will die by it, and I, Drummond, wont go down without drawing mine!"

or Agdayne talking about Gwyn "The former King of Light ... He feared humans. Feared that they would usher in an age of Dark. How queer, you humans. How you go on, never separating truth from fiction"

or of course Lucatiel chilling last words "My name is Lucatiel. I beg of you, remember my name. For I may not myself..."

And what ever comes out of Aldias mouth

Also can never forget "Gavlan wheel? Gavlan deal!"

Alot of NPCs in the game dont get much dialogue compare to others but even with that they still able to get one memorable line in. Aslo the way some adds to the lore of the first game like the Milfanito makes me really giddy There's alot characters dialogue I didn't mention like Wellager, Emerald Herald and Rat king etc. but this will be enough for me.

Any other dialogue that I miss and need more recognition that they deserve?

Whoever said that the Ruler's Sword stops scaling at a million souls is stupid

    Posted: 09 Nov 2019 12:20 PM PST

I'm currently sitting at 11 million, and the scaling is 344. On a different character, I have about 9 million and the scaling is 267. It just keeps going, no matter how many Souls you have.

Geographically speaking, where is Drangleic in relation to Lordran and Lothric?

    Posted: 09 Nov 2019 09:06 AM PST

Lordran and Lothric must be close together since you visit Anor Londo in DS1 and DS3, but do you go to any similar destinations in DS2?

    I am sad now...

    Posted: 09 Nov 2019 02:02 PM PST

So today I was summoning for the Pursuer fight in FotfG. I found 2 friends and we went straight to the boss fog. Fight was good so far, we got him to half health with the ballistas. Then in a moment of hurry, my friends went into my line of fire shortly after I released the ballista bolts. 2 kills for one shot, but the Pursuer was still standing. I am devastated. Not only did I not hit the pursuer, I even lost 2 friends! If you were one of these good people, I am deeply sorry for what happened.

However the story is not over, after leaving the bossfight with haste I tried to find my lost friends. One I could recover, the other disappeared, his sign was nowhere to be found. We returned to the bossfog, broken and not unscarred but eager to slay the fiend that killed so many undead before. Initiated fight with a parry, rush to the ballistas and shot! We hit him! He is down to a third of his health. But suddenly he catched my friend off guard. Baited into my line of fire I took aim and released. But what is this? A stray bolt impales my friend on the ground. The fight was won, but at what cost? I gaze upon my victory. Unsure wether it was a true victory or a different form of loss. I never met my friends again, the bond was broken. These cursed ballistas may have brought me victory, but they cost me everything. I will never lay my fingers upon them ever again.

What to do as a Pyromancer once you get Fireball and Fire Orb? You get them early game but there is a pretty big jump until you get Great Fireball

    Posted: 09 Nov 2019 01:37 PM PST

Unless you want to attempt to get Great Fireball from Flame Lizards in Forest of the Fallen Giants when they are much more powerful than you, or wait until Brightstone Cove Tseldora.

It seems like it's a good bit easier to be a Sorcerer rather than a Pyromancer in DS2, you get access to a lot of spells earlier.

You know I'm going to be honest with you, I like Dark Souls 2.

    Posted: 09 Nov 2019 09:42 AM PST

I had a good time with this game. It wasn't as good as the first one which is my favorite, but I thought it flowed much better than 3. In fact I've never even finished 3 because I got bored of it.

Tips and some sort of strategy for People wanting to kill Ancient Dragon.

    Posted: 09 Nov 2019 10:44 AM PST

    First eq, spells and buffs.

    • fire quartz ring (best +2 from Guardian drakes in area earlier)
    • Flash sweat
    • chloranthy ring (there will be a lot of running)
    • shield with stamina regen (slumbering dragon shield, blossom shield)
    • Green blossom (optional but still useful)
    • lightning raisin (Or How It was called. To make fight faster. Faster fight= less Time for make mistake)

Weapons and armor of your choice.

So after making him angry (Or returning after failure) run to His Right back leg. Stab, slash Or smash It until dragon tries to stomp you. Run to His left back leg if this happens. Repeat.

If dragon flies up stick near but not below His tail. Near Middle should be Right but for safety go near end It.

If dragon stands on His back leg. RUN AS FAR AS YOU CAN.

    repeat steps until ded.

For context i used Great demon hammer +5.

    Infusiastic Moonlight

    Posted: 09 Nov 2019 11:10 AM PST

I'm running a sorcery build for my current run through and was planning to infuse the moonlight gs, expecting that a faintstone would increase magic damage but it looks like it goes down with a faintstone and a raw stone puts it up. I don't get it, all a little infusing. Can anyone explain?

Is Ricard's Rapier better than the normal Rapier?

    Posted: 09 Nov 2019 02:50 AM PST

I'm going through the DLC and I go through Repair Powder like no tomorrow because my Rapier is getting destroyed. I'm wondering if it's worth upgrading Ricard's Rapier at this late in the game and switching to it. I've fully upgraded by normal Rapier by the way.

    Co op friend ps4

    Posted: 08 Nov 2019 09:36 PM PST

I love ds2 it's my favorite game it is the only game I play, I can't get into other soul games. Been playing for a few years I know it's got flaws but i still love it . It's a lot more enjoyable with a friend. I work full time, I'm married, and have a baby boy. I try to get a few hours in at night but have been playing more recently. I know my way through the game pretty well. Would anyone be interested in playing with me?

    Stuck in iron keep

    Posted: 09 Nov 2019 09:13 AM PST

This is my first soulsborne game, and I just got to iron keep. The enemies are pretty easy to kill but there's so much of them they always surround me. Also, I tried to fight the smelter demon but I only got 1 to 2 hits on him, because of his annoying fire sword.

Hey just wondering what the most op PvE sorcerer build would be since I'm starting a sorcerer. Maybe a touch of PvP goodness too for the occasional invasion if its still active enough on PS4. Thanks

Enemy placement in Scholar of the first Sin

    Posted: 09 Nov 2019 12:07 AM PST

Hello everyone, this is gonna be a bit long but bear with me.

Whenever I see a comment about the changes brought by SotfS over the vanilla DS2, the overall sentiment seems to be very positive. Most players seem to think, the changes make the game better or more fair.

Having played the vanilla version and having achieved the platinum trophy for Scholar, I couldn't disagree more. In my opinion, the majority of areas are much worse in this version. And I mean that both in terms of lore and gameplay.

Sure, having the Heide Knights in Heides Tower makes sense, but why would the Executioner Chariots horse be in Drangleic Castle? Or the desert pyromancers?

Concerning enemy number and placement, the shaded ruin is now so .... empty. There are just a couple of ghosts, but the super cool lion warriors are mostly gone or petrified.

The Iron Keep is a massive clusterfck filled with a legion of heavyily armored enemies, about double what it used to be. Similar complaints can be made about the brightstone cave and the gutter. And lets not forget the 3 (!) invasions in Iron Keep.

The Pursuer actually pursuing you is kinda cool, but why would you put him in between 6 dogs and 2 archers and then make him despawn if you walk past a certain line trying to heal yourself?

These are just a couple examples that I can think of from the spot.

Now to the whole point of this post: I am genuinely curious as to what people like about the enemy placements in Scholar of the first Sin. I would really like to know your opinion on this.
