So I thought I got Dark Souls 2 Hitless...

    Posted: 22 Nov 2019 07:04 AM PST

So I do hitless runs for Soulsborne games. I've no hit Dark Souls 1, Bloodborne, and I THOUGHT I had no hit Ds2 Wednesday. I posted everywhere that I got the run. It was only after rewatching the VOD, that I realized I took LITERALLY a 1 hp tick off a Nashranda curse orb. Feelsreabadman. See the clip. https://clips.twitch.tv/FastHardCarabeefVoHiYo

Single or power stance greatswords for sotfs DLC?

    Posted: 22 Nov 2019 12:49 PM PST

I'm in shrine amana for my first softs playthrough that's managed to get somewhere.

I'm playing ultra greatsword with greatsword +10 right now, but I wanted to know if my damage will fall off for the DLCs.

Should I look at power stancing the UGS, or will I be okay?

Good endgame weapons besides the OP battle axe?

    Posted: 22 Nov 2019 01:12 PM PST

I'm on my first playthrough. Just got through the Dragon Shrine. I plan on hitting the Memories, the DLC, and then the Chasms before going for NG+. Ive basically gotten through the whole game with the battle axe. It's great, but I'm getting bored. I only occasionally wish it had better reach. But mostly it's just a boring weapon and I'd sacrifice some efficiency for a cooler build. I have 2 or 3 Soul Vessels and I plan to to respec to get the most out of whichever path I take. I use pyromancies but I might ditch them to avoid investing in FTH or INT. I assume DEX is gay in DS2 like it is in DS1, but I'm bi irl anyway so I've done my share of DEX runs and am open to both DEX- and STR-based suggestions.

    [SotFS] OP "Early" Hexblade

    Posted: 21 Nov 2019 04:34 PM PST

I've got 3 serious problems with the standard OP Early guide for hexer. Sure, you can get a Sunset Staff within 10 minutes of starting the game, but 1) you have to kill Maughlin who is a nice, good boy who has never done anything wrong ever in his life and also sells the Penal Handcuffs which are a must-have accessory for any pyromancer, which every hexer is by default. 2) If you later want to get the Leo Ring or the Watchdragon Parma, the path there is absolute hell. Not only are all of the enemies tougher, but there's at least 4 red phantoms that show up. And 3) the Sunset Staff at +0 is not OP by any stretch. It deals only 20 more damage with Dark Orb than the basic Sorcerer's Staff.

So, I decided to make my own guide. Not nearly as fast or as easy, but one where you actually end up OP and without leaving any loose threads. At first it was going to be a video guide, but after a few hours of editing, I remembered I both hate and suck at editing videos. So here it is in written form.

This guide assumes you're pretty familiar with the game already. As in, you've beaten at least the first half before.

    Part 1: Better

Start as a Cleric and take a Bonfire Ascetic as a gift. You can try to attempt this as a Sorcerer, but if you do, make sure you grab the Amber Herbs in Things Betwixt. Even then, I'm not sure it's possible. As a Cleric, make sure to grab the Dagger while you're there and raise your Dex by one point to use it as soon as you get to Majula. You can also kill the Ogre before the firekeeper's hut for 1000 extra souls, the Stone Ring and some Gold Resin. They're not necessary but they can help a lot.

In Majula, make sure you get the extra lifegems and estus flasks before you go to Heide. If you're not pressed for time, you should probably go to the Forest of Fallen Giants and get some estus and titanite shards. It's possible to do the route with a +0 Mace and 2 flasks, that's what I did after all, but it's a whole lot easier with a stronger weapon.

Head over to Heide. Make sure you light the Heide's Ruin bonfire. Follow the route to the Dragonrider, making sure to beat the Old Knights along the way so they don't follow you. At the Dragonrider's fog, don't go in. We're not after him at the moment, we're just here to pick up Masterless Glencour for some backup. Before you summon him though, there's the issue of the Heide Knight sitting in front of the chest with the Ring of Binding. If you leave him there, Glencour has a habit of running over, hitting him once then immediately falling off a ledge. So what you do is you slap the knight awake and book it to the summon sign so Glencour can help you double team him.

Let Glencour handle the heavy lifting on the path to the dragon. Just be ready to backstab any Heide Knights after he draws aggro. If he drops below half health, take a breather and let him chug. When you get to the stairs where the spear knight is, just boop the base of the stairs to aggro the knight without waking up the dragon, then retreat to open ground. After he's down, walk normally up the stairs, then as soon as you reach the top, start sprinting for the dragon's feet. If you time it right, you should be under it by the time it starts breathing fire. Just alternate smacking its kneecaps and avoiding the stomps. There's a chance it'll fly up and roast the platform, but you can avoid it by running over to the bridge. Once the dragon is down you'll have the Watchdragon Parma and a dragon bone, both of which will come in useful.

Let Glencour chug up to half health, then use any remaining casts of Heal to get his health as high as you can. He's going to be tanking a lot of hits from Bargain Bin Ornstein. If you've got resin, lube up and head through the fog. With a +0 weapon, the Dragonslayer is an endurance battle more than anything. You won't be able to deal a lot of damage to him at a time, so prioritize staying alive. Let Glencour tank as much as you can, but be warned that if you don't draw the boss's aggro every now and then, he can kill him. If you prevail, you get a bunch of souls and the Leo Ring, which might be useful depending on your weapon choice.

With the Dragonslayer out of the way and Heide looted, all that's left is to sprint back to the Dragonrider and make him do an oopsie. Remember, six steps then roll to his shield. If you've never done it before, I suggest doing some dry runs first to get the timing down. Upstairs is Licia. Buy any spells you think you'll use (Force and maaaaaybe Great Heal Excerpt), then commit preemptive self-defense. This is what the Dagger was for. Just this. Remember to boop her over one window to the left or she'll land on the stairs and come for your ass. Once the dirty deep is done (dirt cheap), rest at a bonfire so the key appears and pick it up.

We're in the homestretch now. Warp back to the Heide's Ruin bonfire and burn an ascetic. Speedrun past all the enemies and to the fog. Make sure you're fast because you don't want to stick around to fight the Lance Phantom. Bamboozle the Dragonrider again for more cash and head back to Majula. Eat any consumable souls you have on you, but save at least one Dragonrider Soul for later. Level Attunement to 13, Intelligence to 21 and Faith to 20. You should still have about 20,000 souls left over, but hang onto them for now.

Go to Huntsman's Copse to talk to Felkin for some free stuff, and buy Dark Orb and Dark Weapon while you're at it. Dark Weapon is an endgame spell masquerading as early game trash. It's just as strong as powerhouses like Crystal Magic Weapon and Sunlight Blade and has more casts to boot. With the Hexer's Hood, you get a 30% damage boost on your weapon 5 times per bonfire rest and it's the same strength regardless of the staff that casts it. Dark Orb can be a devastating spell, but it needs a strong staff to reach its full potential. The Sunset Staff in its current state is heavier and slower than the starting staff and barely any stronger. Eventually, it's the strongest Dark staff, but you'll need Twinkling Titanite and a Darknight Stone to unlock its true potential.

    Part 2: Stronger

Our goal is a Darknight Stone and 6 Twinkling Titanite for +3. The other 9 for +5 can come later.

The first two are easy-ish. First we buy the Silvercat Ring with the remaining souls. Any remaining souls can go to levels. From here on out, your priorities when leveling are 18 Dex for the Dragonrider bow, more Attunement and after that whatever you want. Once you've got shopping done, head to the Forest of Fallen Giants. From the Cardinal Tower, there are a couple of ways to get to the shiny item hanging just out of reach above the Fire Longsword cave. This gives you 2 Twinkling Titanite and a Fragrant Branch of Yore.

Go back to Majula and buy an Alluring Skull or three and then head to the Shaded Woods to cash in that Branch. Kill the goblins on the bottom floor and free Rosabeth, then equip the Alluring Skull to your hotbar. When you pull the lever, run over to one of the cells and throw the skull into it. The goblins will pile inside and let you handle the basilisk alone and run off without them. Ambush disarmed. Follow the path to the Ruined Fork Road bonfire, just running past the goblins. Take the left fork and fight or run past the Falconers. Around the back of that aqueduct pillar they're clustered around is a corpse with another 2 Twinkling Titanite, bringing our total up to 4.

Next stop is at the bottom of the well.Attune Dark Orb, strip naked and parkour all the way to the bottom. There's a crystal lizard on the rope bridge up ahead so equip a Sorcerer's Staff (there's a free one behind an illusory wall in the Pate Trap) and R1 spam it to death for a free Darknight Stone. If parkour isn't your thing, you can farm that Basilisk by the Old Akellarre bonfire in the Shaded Woods. Although if RNGesus isn't feeling merciful, this could take hours.

Next you need to kill the Last Giant and the Pursuer to get to the Lost Bastille. (You may also want to save their souls for later.) Pick up the Dull Ember by the Tower Apart and go to the courtyard near there to fight the Pursuer again. He'll drop another Twinkling Titanite bringing your total up to 5. While you're there, get the Fragrant Branch out of the chest. Head further on to McDuff's workshop, grabbing the Forgotten Key along the way. Make sure to lure the jailer away from the barrel before you kill him, then push it down the stairs to open up the bonfire. Light a torch and light up the sconce inside, then rest at the bonfire to make McDuff get his fat ass off that chest. Loot the workshop and you've got your 6th Twinkie and a blacksmith to upgrade it. A Dark Orb from a Dark Sunset Staff +3 deals over twice as much damage as its unupgraded version, and still has room to get stronger.

    Part 3: Faster

At this point, the only problem with the Sunset Staff is the 105 casting speed. So our next step is gathering some gear that can speed that up, plus some useful additions. To that end, we're heading back to the Ruined Fork Road and going into the fog. If you want to collect the Hush sorcery before you do, this is actually the one area in the game it's really useful. You can either take down the Ruin Sentinels to get it or track down 5 invaders for rank 2 of the Way of Blue. It's not necessary, but anything that keeps the ghosts from aggroing on you is nice.

Enter the foggy area and hug the left wall. You can stop and chat with Vengarl if you like, but he doesn't really have anything you need right now. Maybe keep the Claymore in mind if it appeals to you. Keep following the left wall, hitting face trees as you go to distract the ghosts until you reach the exit to the Shaded Ruins. Keep going and right around the corner is a ledge with a chest. Inside is the Chloranthy Ring +1. It's not directly related to casting, but it's always nice to have extra stamina. Keep following the left edge, being wary when it turns into a drop. Eventually, you'll reach another iron chest. Leave this one alone since it can't really be safely opened. Instead, use it to orient yourself. Face directly away from the front of it and walk directly into the fog, walking as straight as possible. You should come across a third iron chest tucked between two trees. Make sure you hit the nearby face tree to distract the ghosts coming after your butt and open the chest for the Clear Bluestone Ring +1 (+35% casting speed). Then GTFO, since there's nothing else you need in there.

Next stop is the Shaded Ruins. If you fought the Ruin Sentinels earlier you'll need to track down another branch first. The Gutter and No Man's Wharf are possible locations. The items you want to make sure you get are directly in front of the towers that lead to Najka. There's a basilisk, a petrified lion and a couple curse pots in the way. Kill the basilisk and snipe the pots with spells before you do anything else, then free the lion. Lion Warriors hit hard and have high resistances to all types of magic, but they're easy to backstab. Once he's dead, open up the chest for the Lion Mage set (+5% cast speed per piece) and your branch back. You can loot the place or whatever you want after that. There's a lot of good titanite and gear that'll be really useful.

The final stop on our Magical Mystery Tour is Straid. To get to him, you'll either need to kill the Sentinels or fight through No Man's Wharf. Either way, save the boss soul you get. By this point, nothing in the Lost Bastille should stand a chance against you (unless a Forlorn invades) and you should have a clear shot to get up the elevator and free Straid. Buy your second copy of Dark Orb from him, then trade him at least four boss souls. The only item from this I actually care about for this guide is the Dragonrider Bow. Use or don't use the boss weapons/spells if you like, but it's important to trade four souls to him. After you do that and talk to him, he'll give you the Black set. The Black Hood raises casting speed by about 12% and boosts both Int and Fth by 2. It's an excellent accessory for a hexer and the final piece of this guide.

    Part 4: What Now?

Pretty much whatever you want. At this point, you've got a build that's effective at any range against any enemy and about 80-90% of the game still left untouched. Dark Weapon gives you a huge damage boost at close range for any weapon you choose (and there's a wide variety of amazing weapon you can use with 12 Strength and 18 Dexterity). The Dragonrider Bow lets you snipe targets outside of lockon range and effectively gives you 999 Great Heavy Soul Arrows. And for everything in between, you can spam Dark Orb to your heart's content.

    Happy Hexing!

Boss who can parry the player

    Posted: 22 Nov 2019 09:26 AM PST

So, I just learned that Sir Alonne is able to parry you. I know there are a lot of bosses in this game that you can parry, even if you can't riposte them (Dragonriders, Ruins Sentinels, Mytha, Veldstadt, Pursuer...) but I didn't know some of them were able to parry you as well.

Are there other bosses who can parry except Sir Alonne ?

    Old Knight Ultra Greatsword bugged?

    Posted: 22 Nov 2019 11:00 AM PST

The drop rate, that is. Not even the most dreadful mob items to farm (Greatshield of Glory, Black Dragon/Drakekeeper stuff, etc) took me more than a couple hours to farm.

I've maxed out on Cracked Blue Eyes several times over, got probably a dozen full sets of Old Knight gear, several swords and shields and hammers, 80 or so Palestones, and about 60 Awestones.

No UGS. Bugged or just shit RNG?

Is this game playable on a cloud pc?

    Posted: 22 Nov 2019 10:36 AM PST

The delay to the datacenter is about 30ms.

Is that too big or will I be able to effectively play this game?

Has anyone ever played the game by using a cloud machine?

    I cannot progress

    Posted: 22 Nov 2019 06:53 AM PST

So, i'm in my first playthrough, just arrived at Dragon Shrine. Noticed the dragon knights just ignored me, nice. Later on, didn't think about it and just went in and summoned a shade. He angered the dragon knights and now they keep attacking me and I can't get to the boss, the ancient dragon. Do I have to kill all of them every time and "git gud" or should I ask for pardon from Cromwell The Pardoner or doesn't that do anything?

    Is it easy?

    Posted: 22 Nov 2019 06:41 AM PST

I'm playing my first run of DS2 and now I'm at the Shrine of Amana. I beat the double Dragon Knight boss fight in Drangleic Castle at the first try. I did it with a Bastard Sword+8,an average armor, the Ancient knight shield (but broken) and 5 life gems. I have 7 estus +3 but I arrived to the fight with only 4. My question:Is the boss fight really easy or am I very good?

    My Experience With DS2

    Posted: 21 Nov 2019 06:09 PM PST

So long story short: I played through Dark Souls 2 (Vanilla) for the first time since it's release. I hated DS2 with every bit of me because DS1 Elitist Shit but this playthrough everything just felt right. The only place I still have a big gripe with is the Shrine of Amana but when I compare it to SotFS's Shrine it's an absolute cakewalk.

In the end all I can say is: I let SotFS sour my whole opinion on DS2 because thats the one I always tried instead of Vanilla DS2 since it's the "improved" version. (I can't see that at all. Sorry.) And now after an 18 hour, chill, playthrough of DS2 I can safely say that it's an absolutely amazing game with only 2-3 hiccups that still make me scratch my head.

Gonna look forward to catch up on all that is DS2, learn it's mechanics better, map layouts, all that jazz. Maybe I should give Demons Souls another shot as well, eh?

(I don't know if it's "low-effort content", I just wanted to share my recent experience. Sorry if I broke that rule!)

    Confused about obtaining platinum trophy.

    Posted: 21 Nov 2019 04:54 PM PST

So I'm pretty much left with getting all hexes and miracles, things like this. The covenant rewards seem absurdly difficult? For instance, you need rank 3 of blue sentinels, 500 victories? To obtain a miracle needed! What.

Same goes with brotherhood of blood, 500 rank points? Uh, I'm already 6.3M soul memory, how am I suppose to obtain it anymore. Not to mention there are a couple others, like the bell keepers where you need to kill 30 hosts, yet all I run into are ganks.

Forgive me for all my questions lately, but am I missing something or is a ridiculous amount of pvp needed to do this? If so how is it this platinum has 5% achieved on it.

    Anyways thanks.
