Dark souls 2 is genuinely amazing

I'm playing through it for the first time and I love it. There are places where I definitely have gotten frustrated but it has some of my favorite mechanics from both 1 and 3 and the world is beautiful. I feel like people shit on this one a lot and I have not had the negative experience a lot of people say they had with this one.

Imo, Dark Souls 2 is on the verge of perfection.

    Posted: 27 Nov 2019 06:28 PM PST

Soul memory, I don't care about the limitation of people I will meet in the world, it makes the game more varied and with a feeling of "alone"

ADP creates more dynamic builds and different gameplay, iframes are similar to NIOH, invulnerability is at the beginning (6 ADP) and not in the middle.

To me, all bosses are good, without exception, some easier, some more difficult, some with little inspiration, some with more inspiration, others with a lack of time (Ancient Dragon), but they all teach something or have some purpose.

Yes, Prowling Magus and Congregation teaches something, is an unexpected boss, before Freja, he teaches the player how to deal with AOE, the undead on the ground prevent the player from stabbing clerics, spells make the player remain in constant motion, the AOE of Magus prevents the player from stabbing clerics.

It is possible to avoid clerical spells in the chairs, the clerics also have a spell to greatly reduce the damage, giving more duration to the fight, the only problem in my opinion is that the boss has little life, but it was probably a team decision. . Boss has a certain difficulty if you do not do much damage, try, it's cool.

I could argue about more bosses, but that would be too long.

The maps are FUN, it's always nice to explore, the scenery is great, it's a map, not a maze, there are various interactions with the map, secrets, pharros stones, their size is ideal (in my opinion), so the person doesn't get tired of being in the same area.

The enemies are very well positioned, the game is very strategic and, at a slower pace, the player needs to use the brain to kill the enemies as smartly as possible.

The songs are cool, unlike DS1 where each song is a screaming person, in DS2 the instruments are more prevalent

Maybe the transitions are not good in the player's view, as they used Skyboxes to represent the locations to boost console performance (ps3 and 360), but honestly? The reason is plausible and does not affect the gameplay.

The only problem with Dark Souls 2 is being hated.

Elana, Squalid Queen is an obnoxious boss

    Posted: 28 Nov 2019 06:15 AM PST

    You can't change my mind

edit: hahahaha just had a run where her and big golden guy swung at the exact same time and took away 100% of my health in one shot.

Edit2: everytime i post a complaint post I accomplish my goal. Been at this boss for 3 days and I killed her in 4 tries after posting this.

Thanks for your support from distant lands (that is the only explanation for this phenomenon)

Also she spawned big guy once and skeletons 3 times that run, totally not RNG luck or anything.

Edit3: Sinh was an amazing boss fight, took me two tries, I didn't expect him to decay my weapon so much (it appears he is made out of stone or at least covered in it, so it makes sense, but that put me in some bad situations. I got lucky already having divine blessings in my quick slots when he gave me toxic too, that was a surprise. What a cool fight though. And I cut off his tail (sadly no weapon came of it).

That was a great ending to this dlc.

    Deflecting firebombs

    Posted: 28 Nov 2019 01:42 PM PST

While running through the forest of fallen giants, the firebomb throwing hollow at the place you can fight the pursuer early fell down while I was fighting other hollows. He threw a bomb as I attacked another hollow nearby and it seemed to bounce of my sword as I swung it and then it went back and hit him. Is that a real thing or did I imagine it from another hollow throwing a bomb.

How can you ever catch a guard break in pvp?

    Posted: 28 Nov 2019 11:22 AM PST

I play on ps3, and to do a guard break, I have to hit R1 simultaniously as I hit up with my analog stick. But it's the same analog stick that I use for moving my character, so to perform a guard break, I have to do a small, full stop from moving. Otherwise it just won't do the guard break.

This is plenty of time for them move out of range and retaliate.

Alternatively, what can I do against strafing turtles?

How do I make the ghosts in Shaded Woods and Shaded Ruins visible? I did it before but I don't know how

    Posted: 28 Nov 2019 01:57 PM PST

It was pretty late in the game when I made them visible/into humans again, it was nice that I could lock onto them.

    Oh god oh heck

    Posted: 28 Nov 2019 01:29 PM PST

I'm at the Forest of Fallen Giants.

I just killed the Heidi Knight, but before I picked up the sword I was shot with an arrow.

The Knight and the sword is gone and no where to be seen.

Is there anyway I can still get it?

is it decent to have only caster hexer character?

    Posted: 28 Nov 2019 01:11 PM PST

i've finished souls twice but never tried any sorcerer either mage or hexer or whatever. now decided to build hexer but only with spells. i really dont want to use physical weapons. so is it possible to play normally with only spells ? like only with staff and chime ? and i am talking about only with hexes and miracles. as far as i am concerned resonant souls take my souls so im not sure that i can use them in early game. so is it really possible to make enough damage with only hexes ?

    Online co-op community? (PC)

    Posted: 28 Nov 2019 12:44 PM PST

Just out of curiosity how easy is it to find white summon signs in ds2 compared to something like ds3? Im wanting to replay but whether or not ill be able to easily find coop partners is a big deciding factor for me.

This area made me get a dark silverblack spear because I was done with having to farm the knights just to be able to make it to the smelter demon.

Ok, so every play through I have done has been some sort of melee build. On this particular play through, I decided to be a mage/faith build. And holy shit.

    Posted: 27 Nov 2019 04:01 PM PST

People are not lying when they say it's easy mode. This is an NG+2 playthrough, and the bosses don't stand a chance. Nothing really does. I can't believe how easy it is. I so far have beaten FOFG, Heidis, and no mans wharf, and where I used to summon help, I didn't even think about it. Just grab some soul spears and wreck. It's insane. I'm currently debating whether to re-spec to a melee character just for the added toughness.

I realize that the DLC's are different supposedly, but Jesus. Dark souls shouldn't be this easy.

    (Spoilers) item acquirement

    Posted: 27 Nov 2019 10:12 PM PST

So above macduff's workshop, there is an item that is unreachable by the player, is there a way to get that item? If so, how? I've tried everything I could think of.

Ds2 fan theory: Drangleic is Lothric

    Posted: 27 Nov 2019 04:02 PM PST

It is said that Lothric was formed on the basis of creating an heir worthy of linking the flame. It is my theory that when your character takes in throne to link the flame for the second time, the kingdom of Lothric was formed. There is even a shrine to the fire at the base of Drangleic castle. Is there a better place for the ages of fire to accumulate? Tell me your thoughts
