Can explain "multi-player" to me in 100 words or less?

    Posted: 27 Nov 2019 10:09 AM PST

I see messages from other players. OK.

I see bloodstains from other players showing me how they died. OK.

I see other players materialize at the bonfires (in full color) and then they slowly disappear. What?

I see ghosts of other players in my area, fighting and doing things. Sometimes they are in a monster area, other times they are fighting "air". What?

I read about invasions of other players. How does this work? Do other players have a choice of who they invade? Is it like a duel in an MMO, or a gank (where they can attack you while youre fighting mobs)?

How are interlopers matched to other players. What would stop a hihg level from killing me for lulz? Is it possible to be griefed?

Is there any ranking, rhyme, reason, or incentive to enter other peoples games, besides altruism and helping them?

Is there a way to request help in your game?

Healing thingies vs Hollowing vs. progression?

    Posted: 27 Nov 2019 06:19 AM PST

I abandoned my first toon after 5 hours because I used up almost all the 20 "gift" Lifegems. (I wasted half of them killing the big rats in the first town.) I figured it would be better to have a buffer of these gems.

So far on the new toon (level 16), I still have around 20 +/- Life gems, and I think I still have 2 human effigies in the bank to reverse hollowing.

But, as the content gets harder, I could see myself burning through the effigies and lifegems. Then what? (Besides get gud.)

If you run out of effigies, are in a difficult spot and are hollowed out, how do you get another effigy?

Do you have to farm content you've already done to get souls to somewhere buy an effigy? I've read that after killing trash 12 times, it no longer spawns.

Is it possible to get stuck without enough healing devices and being hollowed out, with no souls to farm so that you can't progress?

    Any tips for a beginner?

    Posted: 27 Nov 2019 12:19 PM PST

I've only played DS3 out of the trilogy, and I'd be happy to hear out any tips since I've heard that this game has a lot of different mechanics and stuff

How do you reliably PVP/co-op in this game?

    Posted: 27 Nov 2019 09:52 AM PST

I can't wrap my head around how to actually do this other than randomly get invaded or summon on the rare chance that I actually see a sign. How do you manage your soul memory to be actually able to play multiplayer?

Why is the Craftsmans Hammer so OP?

    Posted: 27 Nov 2019 01:33 PM PST

Have used the Large Club, the Magic Mace, the Gyrm Great Hammer and such weapons and while I like the special quirks of the two great hammers there is no way that I can compare them to a Craftsmans Hammer with a Resin on it.

It literally chewed the Ruin Sentinels and spewed the pieces all over the arena.

    Why is it so OP?

    Crypt Blacksword is confusing me

    Posted: 27 Nov 2019 06:03 AM PST

Wiki says that if i infuse it with Dark it has 288 dmg, 218 dark and scales S dark... But with say Lightning, it has 333 phy/88 ligh/117dark and it also scales S dark... So i get a higer base damage, with an element that is the main weakness of almost everything in this game with B scaling , and dark that is cool with an S scaling. Is that better? I know that S scaling is different than the S scaling from Dark infusion but the extra physical damage and the extra lightning with B should make up for the difference right?

    Hackers

    Posted: 27 Nov 2019 01:33 PM PST

I'm getting sick of it, I have to quit the game and not play bc they break all my items. I'm so tired of it. How are these ppl not found by the anti cheat? If it keeps happening I'm just going to quit playing for good. Ffs I'm so pissed off by this. I wish there was a way to send their account for review or something. I just feel so helpless against their hacks. That's it rant over.

Did anyone solve game without any help?

    Posted: 26 Nov 2019 07:46 PM PST

I made a post about dying and walking back, asked a question about how to cut down on travel time, and the thread filled up with varied advice, more than I wanted.

I have planned to solve the game without any help, without watching videos or reading guides, has anyone else done this?

I solved portal 2 only looking up two things, but wish I hadnt. Solved Witcher 2 without any lookups.

Other games like Skyrim and eso and Path of exile, I look up things constantly.

In ds2 is it a major accomplishment to do without help, or will I be too gimped late game and have to reroll?

Progress is slow, I've got 10 hours in and only in third zone..zombie castle. By my estimation at this rate it might take hundreds of hours.

Got invaded in earthen peak yesterday

    Posted: 26 Nov 2019 03:54 PM PST

Homie straight kicked it w me for like an hour I cleared the whole level out. He was leading the way, even tho he couldn't attack the mobs, somehow having him there gave me confidence and I'd rush headlong up ladders and stairs temporarily forgetting about the gankfest of manikin ambushes an bullshit. Then right before I'm about to get the last bonfire and go back to fight mytha this fucker backstabs me !?!? Fucking traitor !!! I thought we were bois !!! If you're reading this ...you broke my heart dude =[...and my back..

Should I play Dark Souls 2?

    Posted: 26 Nov 2019 07:46 PM PST

Link to a post I made about Dark Souls 1:

    https://www.reddit.com/r/darksouls/comments/e0v85m/why_should_i_continue_i_have_heard_great_things/

I finally beat it! Took me 30 hours to get through but eventually I slayed Lord Gwyn and lit the final bonfire. In scrolling through the achievements, I did miss 2 bosses it looks like, and a majority of the covenants. I used the same sword from beginning to end (Black Knight Sword. I got it off the first knight), and ended with the Havel armor set. I feel slightly unfulfilled and I may hunt down those last two bosses and some covenants later. I refuse to do any multiplayer, as I prefer the struggle of handling bosses solo.

However, I do know if I should go for Dark Souls 2. I absolutely hated much of the first dark souls. The long long walks from bonfire to boss were a major pain for me, alongside obnoxious areas where the greatest threat is falling off a ledge rather than the actual combat.

Does Dark Souls 2 improve on any of these things? I do not want to slog through another souls game if it is as slow as the first, and if it creates as many frustrating scenarios as the first does.
