Six eyed channeler cosplay (or "That bastard with the trident")

    Posted: 28 Oct 2019 09:30 AM PDT

    https://imgur.com/04lch4a

I already cosplayed as Solaire and as a Giandad (both for the memes). So when I decided I wanted another DS cosplay I made sure to find someone with an interesting design.

And what can I say, look at those beautiful eyes, powerful trident, and the best dance moves in all of Lordran. The decision was obvious...

I wore it year ago and already recicled some parts, so I don't think I wouldn be able to get a better photho than this one.

The undead enemies were once just like us, trying to go and link the fire

    Posted: 28 Oct 2019 11:34 PM PDT

In a place such as Undead Parish, Undead knights had travelled there and eventually went hollow because they couldn't get past the area or the boss. So after they hollowed, they remain there without purpose and attack any intruders.

In Sens fortress, we can see undead knights but this time they are much more powerful. It makes sense because those knights were able to overcome the challenges of the previous area. But eventually went hollow because of the increased difficulty in that area.

Also you get better items as you progress the game, the same explanation might be the reason.

Lore Question: Did Gwyn kill all the dragons (other than the ones we see survive)?

    Posted: 29 Oct 2019 01:05 AM PDT

Did Gwyn kill all the dragons (other than the ones we see survive)?

As in: other than Sinh, Kalameet, the Everlasting Dragon (covenant giver), Gaping Dragon and Midir (and all the other minor Dragons), did other dragons survive?

Edit: With "Gwyn" I mean Team Gwyn.

    I just beat Quelaag blind.

    Posted: 28 Oct 2019 06:13 PM PDT

New to the game and beat Quelaag on my first try after getting chewed up by Blighttown. That was pretty exhilarating. I get why people love this game.

Am i missing out on the entire story of the game?

    Posted: 29 Oct 2019 02:37 AM PDT

I am playing dark souls for quite a while now, and i only now realized i basically know nothing about the story, all i know is that i'm a chosen undead who has to kill lord gwyn and that i need to kill the people who killed the dragons to get to lord gwyn's prison.

Just so you know this is what i completed so far:Killed Seath the scaleless

    Killed ornstein and smough

    Killed capra demon

    Killed gaping dragon

    Killed quelaag

    Killed Iron Golem

    Killed the bridge dragon

    Killed Sif :(

In the process of trying to kill stray demon and firesage demon

frampt left me because i accidentally fell into his hole while he was sleeping and placed the lord vessel

I cannot believe I never noticed this...

    Posted: 28 Oct 2019 04:03 PM PDT

The Demonic Foliage enemies in Darkroot Garden are overgrown Wooden Scarecrow enemies from Royal Wood as time has went on.

I've played through this game a lot and only just had the epiphany. Maybe some of you also never noticed. Man, I love this game as it keeps giving me new discoveries.

Help understanding how the giant serpants work for covenants

    Posted: 29 Oct 2019 04:16 AM PDT

I'm on NG+ focusing on collecting items for trophies (PS4). On NG I just talked to Frampt immediately and then beat the game, had no idea about Kaarth until I started looking up how to collect all the items. So what I read is that I should NOT talk to Frampt and wait until I defeat the 4 Kings then meet the other serpent so I can join his covenant.

However I just made my way down deep in the Tomb of the Giants and the tunnel to the boss is blocked by the golden gate. So... how does this work, does Frampt open the gates for me? Is there specific dialogue options here? How do I make progress in the game but still also join the Darkwraith via Kaath?

    TIA

Very high rambling about my opinion on Artorias’ dominant hand.

    Posted: 28 Oct 2019 04:43 PM PDT

I like to think he wielded his sword in his left and his shield in his right. Also that he was holding his own against the dark thanks to the divine powers of the Gods granting him the ability to enter the abyss, blessing his sword, and a shield that could function as a literal barrier against the dark. Because of the divine barrier keeping Sif perfectly unharmed from the abyss when we find him, I think that before Artorias gave up his shield it was keeping him and Sif safe from the dark which allowed Artorias to keep swinging his sword until his arm gave out. After losing his arm and realizing he had not won, Artorias spared his companion the fate of being consumed by the dark by giving Sif his shield, then continued his fight with his one good arm. Also i believe this explains why you get a regular moveset from Sifs soul, but when you use Artorias' soul it grants you the unique moveset he created while being a frenzied one-armed beast cursed by the dark. I believe after Artorias gave Sif the shield he immediately started to fall the the dark. And then, without the shield to protect him, with only one arm, and after he realized he could not win, he left the Abyss to continue his battle on a different front which was to contain the growing darkness that altered him by standing at the entrance to Oolacile. And finally, after you defeat him, you and Ciaran (less likely but possibly also Chester) immortalize his fighting technique and his quest to contain the dark. While the Chosen Undead does use it in their right hand, i think it has to be Ciaran who commemorates the legendary style and story of the Wolf Knight's left handedness which is passed down for generations to warriors who honored him by using it in their left hand and tried to hone the technique of one of the strongest swordsman in history.

Thanks for listening I just defeated Artorias and immediately wrote this off the feels i have from Artorias being derived so beautifully from Guts.

How do you convince someone Dark Souls is not a generic open-world medieval hack and slash action RPG?

    Posted: 28 Oct 2019 08:15 AM PDT

I am trying to get my brother to give Dark Souls a fair shake because I think he will adore the games once he actually gives them an honest try. They seem like perfect games for him because:

He loves Metroidvania Castlevania games: Claims Portrait of Ruin and Order of Ecclesia to be two of his favorite games of all time.

He loves Challenging games: Mega Man/Mega Man X, Battletoads (has beaten it legitimately) Devil May Cry, Contra, etc.

He loves Theory Crafting in RPGs: Creating game breakingly powerful setups on Castlevania, Final Fantasy, Disgaea and such.

He loves Fighting games: He's a madman at Smash Bros. and really enjoys Street Fighter, Tekken, Chivalry and Soul Caliber.

Despite my trying to explain otherwise, he seems to think the games are an Elderscrolls knock off (Neither of us like Elderscrolls.) He said he tried one of them but doesn't remember whether it was Dark Souls 1 or 2. He said, "It just seemed like your generic roaming through fields and mashing X to mow down skeletons, just like Oblvion or something"

The thing is, I remember sorta thinking the same thing before I really dug in played Dark Souls. I figured it was just another generic medievil-fantasy Action/RPG. The only reason I stuck with it was because I kept reading that it was the true heir to Castlevania in 3D. Then, after dying at the Bell Gargoyles a couple times and then tweaking my gear and changing my strategy a bit to beat them did I realize that there was more to it than I thought.

    Hardest boss in dark souls

    Posted: 28 Oct 2019 04:50 PM PDT

In my opinion sif is the hardest boss in dark souls because not only do you have to kill an innocent and loyal wolf but the more you damage him he starts to limp and by the time you get near the end hes barely limping (in a bad way) and you're forced to kill a poor defenseless doggo, freaking hurts my heart

First full run through, I'm in love!

    Posted: 28 Oct 2019 10:04 AM PDT

So here's the story. I bought DS1 ages ago, around the time it first dropped on PC. All my friends were talking about it, everyone said it was great. So I got it and started playing. MAN it was a rough game. I skipped tons of fights because I couldn't approach them properly, I barely retained my sanity through Blighttown, I was so bad that I literally missed the exit from Quelagg to Demon Ruins and thought I'd hit bedrock there.

I found stone Knight armor, wore it regardless of my fat rolling. I tried to get through Sen's Fortress, and.... It finally broke me. 29 hours, level 45, and I was stumped. I put the game down, never beat Iron Golem. Never saw Anor Londo. Never cheesed the Ceaseless Discharge. Never tried to farm an extra 10 humanity just to give Solaire reason to LIIIIIIVE!

Time travel moment! The year is 2018, Dark Souls 3 goes on the monthly humble bundle. My friend, already a Lord of Cinder in his own right, gives me his copy to play through and beat with him, since he already owned the game. Reluctantly, I joined, and found a game that captured me like I didn't know it could. We ended up having to restart our playthrough because he wiped his computer and lost all his saves, but I didn't care. I started my first sorcerer, and fell further in love.

Then this past weekend, my friend went on a cruise. I couldn't progress in the main save, and he and I had talked about picking up the remaster of DS1 to beat that. I thought to myself, "you know, Baron, you never beat the game before, you're like 8 years older than you were then, and much better at souls games."

And i made the greatest decision I ever made. I missed out on SO MUCH in this game, it's not even funny. It took me TWO DAYS of playing to: surpass my original character in bosses, levels earned and progress made. At this moment, Cynthia the Stone Knight lumbers around at Level 45 with unwearable armor and a crappy sword, 29 hours in. This Dude, the Black Knight, introduces friends to his Great Club+6 at level 83 with maybe 13 hours.

I don't know if there was a point to this, but I'm so, so glad that I gave this game another try and took it seriously. Anor Londo is beautiful. Crystal caves are.... Well, they sound nice. And Four Kings can shove a pencil in their four asses.

Also, tacoturtle, if you're out there, I will never forget you and your help with Ornstein and Smough. Your soul glows with GROSS INCANDESCENCE!

Update: Seath is now dead, boss fight is a lot easier once you realize you don't give a shit about his greatsword. Now for Nito....

Good strength level for standard Mace?

    Posted: 28 Oct 2019 05:02 PM PDT

I really like the standard mace, and I've upgraded mine to +15 already. I'm not too familiar with DS1, so I'm not good with build stuff. I don't need an exact build, I'd just like to know what level range I should be getting my strength to to play with the standard mace comfortably.

First blind playthrough, came from DS3 and Sekiro, wish me luck ! general (no spoil) advice ?

    Posted: 28 Oct 2019 10:54 AM PDT

After Dark Souls 3 (loved it, platinumed, bought artbook, an amazing experience for my first soulsborne) and Sekiro (also great but different), I'll go for Dark Soul : Remastered !

I think about a strengh/faith build as my main character in DS3, it will be his own sequel. :) I already got my bottle of water to parry the salt, I maybe come later to rage/beg/cry/advice/summoned.

    Honestly fuck the sanctuary guardian.

    Posted: 28 Oct 2019 12:52 PM PDT

I've played through dark souls a few times on the 360, and now that I have the remastered version I decided to try the DLC, but I just can't get passed the sanctuary guardian, I have never had this much trouble with any other boss in the game. Please tell me there's a way to easily defeat him that I just haven't found yet.
