    I love the NPC invaders

    Posted: 29 Oct 2019 09:10 AM PDT

As fun as co-oping or invading other people is, I've always found the NPC summons and Invaders tend to provide the weirdest and more memorable encounters. Specifically in SOTFS. Mostly because a vast majority of them never speak to you as NPCs you have to decipher their personality based on how the act and what they're called. Specifically, a lot of the invaders are memorable due to how weird they are. Fencer Sharron attacks with a crazy whip sword, and Oliver the collector has an army sized aresenal of weapons. The NPCs tend to represent different types of players. Armourer Dennis is a try hard caster. Bowman Guthry represents all the weird builds that are strangely effective. Jester Thomas is a gesturing, overconfident troll. Rhoy the Explorer is the PVE God of the game who did the challenge runs that you dread to even attempt. Maldron the Assassin is literally the perfect NPC invader. He pretends to be your friend, fights like an absolute coward, and backstab fishes all the time. The fact that these characters who never say anything are able to convey so much emotion and personality is really cool.

TLDR: the invaders are great characters despite the fact they never speak.

Shrine Of Amana kicks my ass every playthrough

    Posted: 28 Oct 2019 08:00 PM PDT

I get to the platform overlooking Shrine Of Amana and immediately know I'm gonna spend at least an hour on the next little area. But I still appreciate the level.

Small trick for eliminating the crystal lizards in harvest valley(the ones that run into the poison pits)

    Posted: 29 Oct 2019 12:46 PM PDT

2nd harvest valley bonfire. Exit the cave and walk into the next area and let the lizards run off. Equip your pyro glove and drop some lingering flames around their spawn points. Run back to the bonfire and rest. As soon as you do, the lizards will spawn and immediately trigger the lingering flames, killing them.

Finally killed the darklurker with a melee build

    Posted: 29 Oct 2019 03:50 AM PDT

WOW! I've never felt as accomplished as I did when i swung the last blow on that winged orb throwing dumbass! It took me one whole day and 20+ humanities (I cry), but it was worth the feeling I had when I killed him!

My Thoughts on Shrine of Amana

    Posted: 29 Oct 2019 11:56 AM PDT

I LOVE the lore of this area, and the aesthetics, the way it looks, the way it sounds, even the boss mixes that perfect blend of cool and creepy, however, this is easily in my top 5 least favorite areas to traverse in the entire game, the water that slows you down and has random pitfalls, the enemies hiding underwater, the ranged mages with homing soul arrows, annoying annoying annoying, but it makes me genuinely upset because I see what this area holds it's just, it's not fun to play through. What are some of your Thoughts?

Build for first time DS2-player, but somewhat seasoned Soulsborne-player? PvE only

    Posted: 29 Oct 2019 12:13 PM PDT

Looking for a build for PvE. Just finished DS1, have played DS3 and Bloodborne. Played a cleric knight-build in DS1 (STR/FTH, loved the heals, mace as weapon), STR/longsword in DS3 and used Ludwigs Holy Blade in BB (can't remember stats for that).

Looking for suggestions for all kinds of builds really. Ain't a fan of sluggish greatswords. Don't care about PvP. Want to wreck havoc against NPCs.

    The Brume Tower Clutch

    Posted: 29 Oct 2019 04:20 AM PDT

I am now in Eleum Loyce.

Recently I got Scholar of the First Sin after spending 200+ hours on the Prepare to Die Edition a long time ago, for a time it was a big change, and, while I spent only half of the playtime on DS1 blind, I feel like I should do all of DS2 blind (I've seen the boss fights years ago, and I knew there was a trick to Mytha but I couldn't tell what) and here I am completing all of Sunken and Iron King just yesterday. I have to say DS2 is definitely harder than the first, despite all evidence to the contrary.

Anyways, a tradition of mine was that every DS playthrough must be an all-bosses run (because I'm playing blind I missed Darklurker and didn't know about Executioner's Chariot) so I got to kill the Ancient Dragon, Neo-Ornstein and Vendrick. When I got to Iron King I've heard that a specific DS2 mascot here was a popular boss fight so I decided to try my luck. It took twenty-eight tries, actually eleven since I forgot to bow first.

I chose the strongest katana in my inventory (Agdayne is a BAMF), buffed it with all the souls I have left, get back to the Memory and endlessly slash through the knights and fire lizards until the halls were empty. I heard it was a suckish run to Alonne but I didn't have any problems at all, just spam the poison arrows to hell, aged feather the fuck outta there, rinse and repeat.

Tell you what, I hate boss fights with eight-foot tall knights or what, but B-team handles it pretty well. I had great fun with bosses like Looking Glass Bro, Sir Raime the Chad, Velstadt the STR King. Then I got to Alonne. I mean, this guy is crazy fast, way too fast for my potato PC, but damn if his arena is gorgeous. Now I can see why this guy is hyped to hell. Every move you and he does is a hypnotic call-and-response pattern which you must respond that forces you to keep your senses sharp. Because if you flinch, take your attention away from him he could catch you off-guard and punish you. If you happen to have a shield with you he just kicks it off, so I went in shieldless, which maybe the best decision ever.

Best boss since Fume Knight, now I wish this was the vanilla game itself.

What frustrates me because the most reliable screen recorder I have is busted, and as a result I had to use the piss poor Bandicam recorder to capture him in all his glory.

I hope I have better luck in Horsefuck Valley.

PS4- what are the most active soul memory ranges for COOP and PVP currently?

    Posted: 28 Oct 2019 10:41 PM PDT

Just finished NG++ and got the platinum. Sitting at level 200, SM around 7 million. May want to start invading or dueling but was wondering if my soul memory is too high.

What are the most active ranges currently? Should I make a new character? If so what souls memory do u recommend staying at? Thanks

    Question about Champions covenant

    Posted: 29 Oct 2019 05:35 AM PDT

    Hey,

So I kinda want the Heide knight armor, since it looks badass. But, the enemy's that drop it will despawn before I get it, unless I join this covenant. My question is that I am wondering if by joining that covenant, will the difficulty be harder permanently, or can I just switch it on and off as I please?

Dark Souls 3 player taking a step back

    Posted: 28 Oct 2019 05:47 PM PDT

My small-brained self is going from Dark Souls 3 to Dark Souls 2 rather than Remastered.

Anyway, I made this post a while back, asking for help with weapons breaking all the time. I appreciate the feedback a lot! A friend of mine bought DS2:SotFS for me since it's dirt cheap right now and I would really like extra advice on what to do. Mostly, where I can find the repair spell and a fantastic weapon to get at the beginning of the game.

Is there also some mechanics I should know about before hopping from DS3 to DS2?

i already know about there being no FP, don't worry

    Thank you :)

Scholar of the first Sin: Need help finding the hidden undead? Put Majula to NG+ and get the Moon Butterfly set!

    Posted: 29 Oct 2019 12:52 AM PDT

As much as it is a curse for NPC traders, as much of a blessing it is for finding hidden undead.

Before I used the Moon Butterfly set, I always carried a torch to see the shadows being cast by the hidden undead.

But after a playthrough with the set, I think I've found the best detector:

Those three invisible undead in the hallway before Velstadt? Instantly uncovered by a green cloud! the one before the Lost Sinner? Finally found him!

It's great, highly recommend trying it out!

I beat the boss under Heides Tower of Flame, is Benharts questline messed up?

    Posted: 28 Oct 2019 09:23 PM PDT

I beat my very first boss (finally) and I want to work towards getting the moonlight greatsword, is Benharts quest line screwed up? I didn't talk to him yet and i already killed the boss.

I'm used to tedious, unforgiving quest lines of Ds3 so I'm paranoid.

Am I the only one that loves vanilla to the point of hating Scholar?

    Posted: 28 Oct 2019 09:21 PM PDT

I will preface that if scholar was my only choice i would still play it, but that's the only condition. There are many things I don't like about scholar and do like about vanilla and was wondering if anyone else was in the same boat.
