Lucatiel's story actually ends on a happier note than one might think.

    Posted: 16 Oct 2019 02:31 AM PDT

Lucatiel of Mirrah is hands down one of the most interesting characters in the entire SoulsBorne series.

You first meet her by the bonfire just before No Man's Wharf. She tells you that she's doing pretty much the same thing as you; find more souls, bigger souls, in the hope that she can lift this curse. She offers her hand in battle, allowing you to summon her for some fights.

After helping Lucatiel defeat several bosses (assuming you did summon her), it becomes clearer and clearer in her dialogue that it's all pointless. She starts to realize that this is the fate her brother (Aslatiel of Mirrah) met and she's about to follow suit.

The last place you can find her in the game is in a hut outside of Aldia's Keep, where she gives you her armor set (assuming you summoned in all her available fights and she survived all of them) and implores you to remember her name.

It's unclear what happened next. Her long lost brother Aslatiel invades you not too far from where she is so she either perished just a few steps away from him or she perished in combat against him.

But this is not it. Dark Souls 2 references are far and few between in Dark Souls 3 and one of them lies in the Mirrah set, specifically the headwear; Lucatiel's Mask. The item description reads:

A Hollow once fought valiantly with this mask, but feared the fading of her self, and implored a comrade remember her name.

Perhaps that is why this gentleman's mask is named after a woman.

So even though Lucatiel didn't get to see her fate altered, her last wishes were honored by the protagonist.

    I died to a Basilisk.

    Posted: 16 Oct 2019 10:06 AM PDT

Ok, so I tried to offline farm the Guardian Dragon for Dragonscales. (In the area is a mimic that drops one bonfire ascetic, so the loop is possible.) On the way to him, there is a caught Basilisk, that can be freed by the Ogres. Long story short: He got freed by the Ogres.

Early it was no challenge. I oneshot that enemy like nothing. But once I reached higher levels suddenly it survived my attack! I paniked and ran back to the bonfire, but it followed. With an epic spin jump attack it oneshot me.

Yes, I didn't turn into a stone. It wasn't the Basilisk Boss. A REGULAR BASILISK ONESHOT ME.

Laugh at me, I deserve it. (I laughed too.)

( To be fair, I respeced to a less tanky mage build but still, that jump attack was unexpected. Did they do this in DS1 already or is that new?)

What is the best straight sword?

    Posted: 16 Oct 2019 04:46 PM PDT

In the souls games, I have always been a fan of straight swords. I was wondering what is the best straight sword and as a bonus what is the best armor for it.

    Servers down/unstable

    Posted: 16 Oct 2019 11:41 AM PDT

Me and a friend are trying to play co-op in No Man's Wharf, but we keep disconnecting and when trying to log back in we get a 'servers are currently unavailable' message. The message mentions a link, but that website doesn't work either.

It's not either of our internet connections.

Anyone else having trouble or knows what's causing it?

    Primal Bonfires & Ascetics

    Posted: 15 Oct 2019 11:10 PM PDT

Will burning a Bonfire Ascetic allow you to reignite a Primal Bonfire in order to get an achievement that was missed whilst playing offline on Steam?

When people talk about the souls series, what does Dark Souls 2 have the best of?

    Posted: 15 Oct 2019 06:12 PM PDT

Don't get me wrong, I have a soft spot for this game, I don't think it deserves ALL the hate it gets. But I scramble to find anything that this game does best. Aspects of the souls series are done better and worse throughout each game, but what does Dark Souls 2 do best?

This is what I think for certain aspects Best Exploration: Dark Souls Best Bosses: DS3, Bloodborne Best level Design: Bloodborne, Dark Souls Best combat: Bloodborne, Sekiro Best experimentation of mechanics: Demon Souls Best atmosphere: Bloodborne Best world: Dark Souls

What does Dark Souls 2 have? Personally I think doesn't have the best of anything, but it doesn't mean it's a horrible game. Thoughts?

Finally gonna get back on my platinum trophy hunt

    Posted: 16 Oct 2019 12:06 AM PDT

I only have to get the miracles, sorceries, and pyromancies trophies. I took a long break from the game, but it feels right to get the trophy for a game that I sunk so much time into. After this, I'll jump into DS1 and add that trophy to my soulsborne collection (currently have it for Sekiro, Bloodborne, and DS3). Wish me luck!

How are people ok with killing someone resting at a bonfire?

    Posted: 15 Oct 2019 06:56 PM PDT

I get that you are invading. But seriously, what fun is it to kill someone who is obviously not there to defend themselves?

I know it's my fault for not being there, but I just don't understand the fun in killing something that doesn't defend itself, especially in this game.

I have never invaded anyone before, so maybe you get some good items I don't know about. Just curious as to those that do kill people who are afk.

    Recommend me a PVE build

    Posted: 16 Oct 2019 03:51 AM PDT

Finally got around to playing SOTFS. I played the original vanilla DS2 back when it released, beat it and never touched it again.

Going for the platinum here now. I know the community is pretty much dead so there wont be much coop or PVP action so I am looking for a strong PVE build so I can quickly run thru the game as many times as needed for the plat.

Currently using a basic rapier build (I hate it but its strong) and plan on going for the red iron twin blade as I heard speed runners tend to favor it.

Any recommendations on how to build around the red iron twin blade? Any other strong PVE recommendations? Fav weapons in Dark Souls were the murakumo and zwei and in dark souls 3 it was profaned greatsword. Thanks for any advice.

Just finished 100% completion on SOTFS

    Posted: 15 Oct 2019 09:14 PM PDT

I quit this game and thought it was bullshit after like 3 hours of playing. Came back to it a few months after and ended up collecting all the trophies. (The 30 sunlight medals nearly killed me)

Now playing DS3. God damn these 2 games are worlds apart. 😅

Any tips for a returning newbie?

    Posted: 15 Oct 2019 05:27 PM PDT

Hi just some backstory rq, I bought dark souls 2 after playing both DS1 and DS3 all the way thru and maybe accumulating about 600-700 hours between the 2 and so I figured might as well try to play DS2 despite the widespread hate I've seen it get. But when I played it the controls and flow of the game felt so foreign to me compared to the other two when I started I put the game down for about 5 or 6 months and now I'm back to give it another shot. Any tips or suggestions y'all could give to help a brother out?

[Spoiler] Useful advice for a No Bonfire run, feel free to add your own

    Posted: 16 Oct 2019 12:46 AM PDT

    - Recommended starting class: Knight, Warrior, Cleric

    - Recommended starting gift: Healing Wares, the HP-Ring or the Petrified Something. The rest is good too, just don't take the Bonfire Ascetic or no item.

    - Get a good weapon to weapon level 3 or 4 as fast as possible (either the Axe or the flame sword in Forrest of the fallen Giants or your starting weapon if you started as Knight or Cleric)

    - Try to rush the Last Giant boss for access to infinite Life Gems (the merchant in the Forrest comes to Majula and sells them, if you exhausted her dialogue and defeated the Last Giant)

    - Buy a Fragrant Branch of Yore and a Pharros Lockstone and with "infinite" Lifegems, rush Najka

    - After Najka, rush to the Santiers Spear. It is not required, but it ends your dependancy on repair powder.

    - You can't reset areas through resting, so you have to leave the area and return, if you want to access the smith in Majula for example.

    - Know your points of no return, if you light a bonfire after one of these points you have to kill the great soul boss to return to majula as there will be no other way.

    - Infuse your Santiers Spear (recommended raw, but other elements work too, e.g. Magic if you leveled Intelligence).

    - Lighted bonfires are your checkpoints, don't light all of them as soon as you see them. DON'T light the one near the Kings door in Dranleic Castle, unless you are 100% sure you have the Giants Kinship.

    - For the Throne of Want: Follow Bernharts and Vengarls Questline, You will greatly appreciate their help in the fight against Throne Watcher and Throne Defender.

Any tips on the run to Undead Chariot.

    Posted: 15 Oct 2019 03:08 PM PDT

I have been trying to do the boss. I will somehow survive the run to the boss. Only to be killed by a skeleton. I can't figure out the co-op for this game. I have played ds1 and 3. I have never left a souls game unfinished. But this game is on a different level.
