    Dark Souls It “clicked”.

    Dark Souls It “clicked”.

    It “clicked”.

    Posted: 08 Aug 2021 03:32 PM PDT

    I just bought Dark Souls.

Never played it. Knew nothing about it. Heard it was hard. That's it.

I'm gonna be honest, my first few hours were spent saying things like..

    "This game is fucking ass."

"What the fuck am I supposed to do?"

    "Why do I keep dying???"

    "WHY CAN'T I FUCKING BACKSTAB!?"

I just beat the 2nd Black Knight after you get the Drake Sword and I now can say…

    I get it.

This is awesome. I can easily see getting countless hours of fun out of this.

    And there's 2 more games?? Christ…

Nothing can describe the hatred I feel towards the skeleton wheels, the areas between Firelink shrine and Nito, and by proxy the game as a whole

    Posted: 08 Aug 2021 09:03 AM PDT

Those damn areas made me die more than the entire rest of the game. I hate them and their mobs even more than "fridgit outskirts" from dark souls 2. They are the single reason I cannot play on one of my characters anymore. I will not spent more time than absolutely necessary in there.

    Why do people kill Gwynevere?

    Posted: 08 Aug 2021 01:33 PM PDT

I've been watching lots of youtube videos and lots of people kill her. What does this do and why?

    First time Bell Gargoyle kill

    Posted: 08 Aug 2021 04:57 PM PDT

Recently started playing DS for the first time ever, always wanted to and finally committed

My character has 12 hours and I JUST beat Bell Gargoyles!!! I attempted that fight probably around 50+ times LOL. I've accumulated 17 Broken Straight Swords from the mob of weak undead you clear from Fire Link -> the fight. IM COMMITTED TO BEATING THE GAME !! I know I'm not good but I'm playing "my own way", I don't like looking up guides or walkthroughs, rather figuring it out myself :) Excited for the struggles ahead 🥰

I Beat Dark Souls any% without dying, here's how

    Posted: 08 Aug 2021 11:21 AM PDT

TL;DR can be found before the full guide, after rules.

So I've been working on completing a deathless any% run of Dark Souls. There are many more impressive feats out there that people far more practiced and capable than I have completed, but I'm quite proud of this achievement and would love to help anyone else who's interested in doing it.

To that end, I'm going to explain my route in this written guide as an alternative to my live-commentary video for those who prefer written guides. The written guide assumes you've played through the game at least a few times and are familiar with the general layout and location of items, if you're not, your best bet is to check the video.

Just about everything described in the written commentary is much easier to understand, process and is elaborated on in the video, because of the limitation of explaining things via text (describing locations and pathing is difficult in text-only, sorry).

Let me know if there's ways to speed this up or make it easier, I'd love to improve!

Rules:No quit-outsNo summonsNo glitchesNo duke skip (1 mandatory death to progress game is not counted, personal choice)

TL;DR: Bandit with Master key.Early Grass Crest Shield and early Andre for +5 Battle Axe.Gargoyles - Quelaag - Sen's Fortress - Crystal Halberd - O&S - buy crest - Moonlight Butterfly (Divine Ember) - Sif - 4 Kings - Seath (no Duke skip) - Bed of Chaos (covenant shortcut, firebombs) - Make Divine Battle Axe - Pinwheel - Nito (Use divine weapon) - Gwyn

    Full guide:

    1. Character Creation - Class: Bandit - Gift: Master Key

    2. Undead Asylum - Use a two-handed jump attack off the platform above Asylum Demon, that way you'll hit him twice (once with jump attack and once with the plunge itself) due to his hitbox - Optional: Collect hidden soul on path to Raven taxi

    3. Firelink Shrine Collect: - Soul near Undead Parish elevator - Homeward Bones - Lloyd's Talismans - Soul above Frampt pit - Firebombs - Humanity - Make sure to sit at bonfire for 10x Estus and reset point. Collecting items in the order I wrote them down seems to be the most efficient way to path through this and save time

    4. Valley of Drakes - Take the elevator under Firelink Shrine - Collect the soul that's to the left as you exit the elevator - Head towards the Valley of Drakes gate and open it with the Master Key - Collect the soul right behind the door as you open it - Cross the makeshift bridge and head towards the rotting dragon on the ledge. Pick up the item furthest from you that the dragon is "guarding", it's a Soul worth 2k souls and will not trigger the dragon. - Keep going to the blue drakes and head to the elevator into Darkroot Basin

    5. Darkroot Basin - Exit the cave and kill the Black Knight (Halberd). Easiest way is to knock him off the edge with a backstab, we only want the Blue Titanite Chunk from him, rest of his drops are unimportant. - Collect Grass Crest Shield and equip it - Head up towards Darkroot Garden, on the way there, collect Leather set, Longbow and 16 Feather Arrows. - Optional: Kill the crystal lizard for possibility of 1-2 Titanite Chunks for additional upgrades later on.

    6. Darkroot Garden - Head to Andre (your left as you enter from Darkroot Basin). - Optional: Kill shrub-guy for chance of Purple or Blooming Purple Moss Clump, useful to remove poison before fighting Quelaag later

    7. Undead Parish pt. 1 - Use all collected souls and buy 9 Titanite Shards from Andre - Upgrade Battle Axe to +5 - Head to undead church - Make sure NOT to light the bonfire, we want to Homeward Bone back to Firelink Shrine - Kill big guy in front of altar and collect Fire Keeper Soul - Activate shortcut to Firelink - Head upstairs and beat the snot out of what feels like 300 hollows - Optional: kill the Channeler, will end up giving you an extra level later - Collect Humanity from corpse in a barrel near Lautrec - Collect soul hanging from balcony near Channeler / Hollows - Head to Gargoyles

    8. Bell Gargoyles - At this point, you should be a level 4 Bandit with a +5 Battle Axe and a Grass Crest Shield - While 2 handing, hitting a Gargoyle 2 times quickly (unless you hit them the second time during their dodge animation) will stagger them - 1 hit will do a tail cut on the first Gargoyle - Trigger the fight and head as far away from the bell tower as possible - Hit the first Gargoyle twice, then break his tail and finish him off before the other one gets near - The other one will mostly breathe fire, when he does, going to your left hand side around him will avoid it if you're right in front of him when he starts huffin' and puffin'

    9. Undead Parish pt. 2 - Ring the bell after beating the crap out of Gargoyles - Slide back down those ladders and buy 1 Purging stone (used to remove Curse if mandatory death from Seath curses us) from Oswald of Carim - Learn best gesture in the game - Homeward Bone

    10. Firelink Shrine - Kick Lautrec off the edge like he deserves - Once you get the souls from Lautrec, you can use a Homeward Bone again to reset the area for the items to spawn and collect them - Put on the Ring of Favor and Protection - Reinforce Estus flask at Firekeeper while you're right there - Go to bonfire and level up: - Optional: Vitality and Endurance to 15 - All points into Strength - Use the elevator under Firelink Shrine

    11. Blighttown - From the Firelink Shrine elevator, head to Valley of Drakes and cross the bridge and continue into Blighttown - Be ready to roll past the 3 guys in the cave, they can apply toxic, if they do, you may have to homeward bone out if you don't have a Blooming Purple Moss Clump - Make your way down the ladders to the elevator, be careful not to get hit by toxic blow darts on your way to the elevator, if you do, you may have to homeward bone out if you don't have a Blooming Purple Moss Clump - Once you're down at the bottom, path towards Quelaag's Domain in such a way that you go between the fire bug enemy thing and the branch/root near it, this way you won't trigger the guys with boulders - Optional: Once you cross the poison muck, use a Purple moss to get rid of poison if you got one earlier - Go to Quelaag

    12. Quelaag - At this point you have a few points into Strength and a Battle Axe +5, so you're a little underpowered for Quelaag, so this fight will take a while depending on which attacks she does - Make sure you never have lava behind you so you don't step into it, get staggered and then get hit - When she hugs the head of her spider... body... thing, get the heck away from her, she'll explode. If she counter hits you with this (after you dodge or attack), she'll most likely oneshot you

    13. Ceaseless Discharge - After killing Quelaag, ring the bell and head down to Ceaseless Discharge - Do NOT activate or sit at either of the bonfires near Quelaag, we want to use a Homeword Bone to get back to Firelink Shrine rather than pathing up Blighttown. as it's more dangerous - Use the gimmick to kill Ceaseless - The gimmick is to pick up the items near Ceaseless, wait for him to do his first swing, then just sprint straight to the fog gate, he'll jump after you, get stuck and you can hit him until he dies - Use Homeward Bone after cinematic for killing Ceaseless

    14. Sen's Fortress - In Firelink, level Strength to 27 and put the rest of your points into Dexterity (we're going for 40 max, after that, do whatever, I prefer Endurance) - we stop at 27 Strength because 2 handing with 27 Strength gives us 40-41 Strength, effectively - Head to the Undead Parish elevator shortcut - Switch armor to the thing you picked up at Ceaseless Discharge (Gold-Hemmed set), it's better than Brigand armor - Light and sit at bonfire in Undead Parish for teleporting to it after O&S - Run to Iron Golem, no seriously, just run all the way there - A little hard to explain in text, best off viewing the video (link plays from start of Sen's Fortress) - Run past everything, make sure you don't get staggered, safest option is to run down the boulder path after the first place you see a boulder (where it knocks the snake dude over) - Kill giant that throws bombs before fighting Iron Golem and make sure to collect Titanite Chunk it drops, it's a must-have for the run

    15. Iron Golem - Gimmick boss, if you can hit him enough times in the legs, he gets staggered and you can knock him over - Lining him up so when he falls on his butt he goes over the edge is how you use the gimmick to beat him more quickly - Slightly less risky is to just beat him to death, but it'll take a while as his health bar is pretty big even for +10 weapons

    16. Anor Londo - Once you arrive in Anor Londo, equip the Longbow, Feather Arrows and Lloyd's Talismans we picked up back at the start of the run - Shoot the mimic (chest on the right) in the room with the two giants and two chests (Smough statue on the wall behind them) - We shoot it so it comes to us and we don't have to deal with the two giants - Hit it with the Lloyd's Talismans to put it to sleep, then grab and equip the Crystal Halberd - Use any souls you picked up as well as Core of an Iron Golem (Iron Golem Soul) - Level at Anor Londo bonfire, put all your points into Dexterity (we're going for 40 max, after that, do whatever, I prefer Endurance) - Take elevator down - Optional: Kill lightning gargoyle for souls - Traverse The Rafters - Deal with the lightning demon/gremlin things and the Anor Londo Archery Club - Sit at bonfire before O&S, level Dexterity (we're going for 40 max, after that, do whatever, I prefer Endurance) - Use the stairwell jump skip to get to O&S

    17. Ornstein and Smough - Keep a pillar between you and Smough at all times - Keep Smough in your line of sight as much as possible, the longer you don't see him, the sooner he'll smash you with his hammer most likely - Kill Ornstein first unless you're a masochist and want to deal with Super Ornstein for some reason - Once Ornstein is dead, just keep a pillar between you and Smough and punish his attacks with running attacks, but don't hit him more than once, because if he does the big jump-butt stomp attack, you might not have enough stamina to roll out

    18. Moonlight Butterfly - After O&S grab the Lordvessel, it doesn't matter if you kill Amazing chest ahead but I prefer not to so I don't have to deal with Anor Londo firekeeper lady - Use Soul of Smough - Make sure you have 22,000 souls left after leveling Dexterity (we're going for 40 max, after that, do whatever, I prefer Endurance) - Warp to Undead Parish - Buy Crest of Artorias and Weapon Smithbox from Andre - Head to Darkroot Garden and open the gate using the Crest - Light and sit at the bonfire next to the gate - Head to Moonlight Butterfly - Wait for it to land and just beat the crap out of it, you do more than enough damage - Go up the tower after Moonlight Butterfly and pick up the items (Divine Ember is what we want) - Use Homeward Bone

    19. Sif - Go through gate you opened with Crest of Artorias - Stick to cliff on the left to avoid mage NPC and knight with Claymore, they're the most likely to hit you - Run past Alvira and straight to Sif - For the fight, stay underneath Sif and use heavy attacks (hard to hit her otherwise with the Crystal Halberd) - Dodge into her attacks to minimize the risk of getting hit, most of the time dodging straight at her will be ok too - Do NOT lock on, it'll only make it harder - After killing Sif, immediately put on the Covenant of Artorias ring so you don't forget, because I sure as heck do often enough to ruin my runs - Optional: Pick up the Hornet Ring behind the tombstone in the center of the room if you intend to parry Gwyn to death (Hornet Ring increases crit damage from thrust weapons, in this case Halberd) - Use Homeward Bone - Use Sif soul and anything else you have - Level Dexterity (we're going for 40 max, after that, do whatever, I prefer Endurance) - Warp to Firelink Shrine

    20. New Londo - Take the elevator down under Firelink Shrine - Head towards Ghost City - Break pot with corpse in it next to two hollows before the planks that lead to Ghost City, it contains 2x Transient Curse - Use one of the Transient Curses (preferably closer to Ghost City so it lasts longer and doesn't run out while you're in there) - When fighting ghosts, you will often find that the regular Halberd attack misses them, a good alternative is to use a backstep-attack or running attack, whichever is more feasible for you (dodge-attack also works, it's a horizontal slash that hits high enough to hit most ghosts) - After killing the first two ghosts, grab the "hidden" Fire Keeper Soul, which is on a platform to the right of you as you walk off the planks you used to get into Ghost City - Head up the stairs to fight more ghosts, yay - Get to the house where Ingward is and from the catwalk outside it, shoot him in the head (make sure its headshots, because you don't have many arrows unless you bought more at Andre) - Head into the house where Ingward was and as soon as you enter it, turn left and go down the stairs, this is how you get to the contraption which removes the water from New Londo, make sure you move quickly or the 742 ghosts in the building will kick your butt - Activate the device to remove the water - Use Homeward Bone

    21. Four Kings - Head down the elevator back to New Londo - Cross the planks, but instead of going into the Ghost City, head to the right behind the stairs and drop down to the area with Darkwraiths, this is a known shortcut - After killing the first Darkwraith close to where you land, behind him is an illusory wall with another Darkwraith and a chest with a Titanite Chunk, kill it and get the chunk - Head up the stairs left of the illusory wall and run past all the enemies (be ready to dodge the Darkwraith's attacks) and head through the fog gate - Immediately roll to the right of the entrance after going through the fog gate, Darkwraith can knock you down into the hole - DOUBLE CHECK that you have Covenant of Artorias ring on, so you don't die by jumping in - If you jump in from the first platform on the stairwell and turn to your right, you'll be looking in the general direction of the first king - Fighting them can get tricky if they use their most annoying attacks: - Blob that they fire at you (block it with your shield) - Explosion (back away or block with your shield if you can't get away fast enough) - Grab attack (back away if you can get very far, or dodge to your left around the boss, unlocking helps) - If they do a lot of those attacks, you'll inevitably fight more than just 1 of them, which can be problematic - Worst case scenario, use a Homeward Bone to try again if they give you horrible RNG - Once they're dead, warp to Firelink Shrine - Talk to Frampt, might have to bonk him to wake up, he'll take you to place to Lordvessel - Place it - Go back with Frampt - Talk to Frampt and feed him the Blue Titanite Chunk we got at the beginning of the run, this is so we can make a Divine weapon later - Reinforce Crystal Halberd once to restore durability - Warp to Anor Londo (remember you might have to fight the firekeeper if you murdered the princess, you animal)

    22. Seath - Head towards Duke's Archives - Kill or run past boars at entrance, if you're killing them, I suggest using jumping attacks, you won't get staggered then and they'll do good damage - Run past all the crystal hollows and the Channeler in the first room, I run behind the left bookshelf and then go up the stairs to the elevator - Use the elevator - Kill the weird crystal NPC that heavy rolls at you menacingly - Kill the crystal lizard, you can get green titanite shards or blue titanite chunks, useful for further upgrades on our future Divine weapon - Die to Seath - This is a developer intended death, doesn't count for the deathless run, you can skip it with Duke Skip, I choose not to - You can avoid getting cursed by getting killed by his big explosion (look for the orb he "charges" at his chest), other attacks will most likely leave you cursed - If you get cursed, use the Purging Stone we bought from Oswald of Carim after Bell Gargoyles - Light and sit at the bonfire in your cell, you dirty prisoner - Kill the dumbest prison guard in the history of existence and get the key - After opening the cell and the cinematic ends / is skipped, use a Homeward Bone, this will reset the area, turning off the "music" and you won't have to fight the tentacle things whose names I unfortunately always forget - Grab the key to get out of the library prison (not to be confused with prison library) - Homeward Bone is faster than running back up, but you do you - Climb the ladder and make your way through the second segment of Duke's Archives by running to the other side where you can get on the rotating stairs - Rotate the stairs and go up them - Go to the other side where you can fall down onto the other set of stairs and do so - Rotate those stairs and go down them - Go to the ladder guarded by the crystal hollow archer - Protip: Take a few steps first until the arrow misses you, then slide down, otherwise you get hit by the arrow while you wait for the slide to start - Active the hidden staircase - Go into the Crystal Garden - Go into the Crystal Cave (make sure to grab the "hidden" humanity that you get to with the first invisible crystal you can walk on) - When you drop down to the last invisible crystal you can walk on that goes to the Seath boss room, immediately turn around and kill the 3 crystal lizards behind you to get more Green Titanite Shards / Blue Titanite Chunks to upgrade the Divine Weapon we'll make later on - Head to Seath boss room - Optional and strongly recommended: Kill all the clams before going to fight Seath, otherwise you'll be fighting both Seath and them - Fight Seath, he's pretty easy to kill, just make sure you run away when he does the big explosion (look for the ball of energy he "charges" at his chest) - Kill Seath - Level up Dexterity (we're going for 40 max, after that, do whatever, I prefer Endurance) - Warp to Firelink Shrine

    23. Bed of Chaos - Take the elevator down under Firelink Shrine - Head to Valley of Drakes and cross over into Blighttown - Take elevator down the same way when we were going to Quelaag - Go to the hidden bonfire with the Fair Lady and join her Covenant - Use all the humanity you have to get 30 "soft" humanity - Offer 30 humanity to the Fair Lady - Run to the fog gate entrance for Demon Firesage, do NOT go in there, instead, turn right into the "dead end", which you can now open thanks to the 30 humanity contribution to the Sick Spider Waifu charity - Optional: Kill the bugs behind the wall you just lowered using the power of simping to spider waifu, one of them drops Sunlight Maggot, which is a helmet that produces light, this will make Tomb of the Giants easier to get through - Optional but recommended if you missed other crystal lizards: Kill the crystal lizard found after the stairs with the bugs, this will give Green Titanite Shards or Red Titanite Chunk(s) which we can use to further upgrade our future Divine Weapon - Run past the Titanite Demon and be ready to dodge because this bad boy can oneshot you unless you've been stacking points into Vitality like a madman - Optional: Kill the witch in front of Bed of Chaos fog gate, 5k souls, might come in handy - Use bomb strat for safest Bed of Chaos fight, best to look at the video (link plays from the start of Bed of Chaos), not the best example as I got really bad RNG, but it shows where from and where to throw firebombs, which is what matters - Level up Dexterity (we're going for 40 max, after that, do whatever, I prefer Endurance)

    24. Pinwheel - Warp to Undead Parish - Give Andre the Divine ember - Modify the Battle Axe +5 we kept from the beginning of the game into a Divine Weapon - Reinforce it as much as you can - Warp to Firelink Shrine - If you don't have a Divine Battle Axe +5, feed more Blue or Red Titanite Chunks to Frampt to get more Green Titanite Shards and then reinforce it to +5 - Head into the Catacombs - We use the drop-down "shortcut", where we cross the first spiked bridge, then immediately drop down to the platform below, and then drop down again until we're just above the Bonewheels - You can use your remaining Firebombs to kill the bonewheels if you need to, otherwise get them to deaggro or jump in and kick their butts, that's what I sort of do - Head to Pinwheel - 1 two handed running attack and two regular two handed attacks will kill Pinwheel - Pray to RNGesus you get Mask of the Child, because it stacks with Grass Crest Shield and is pretty nice for Gwyn and in general - Put on Sunlight Maggot if you got it earlier - Head down to Tomb of the Giants bonfire - Level up Dexterity (we're going for 40 max, after that, do whatever, I prefer Endurance)

    25. Nito - Work your way through Tomb of the Giants through the dark using the Sunlight Maggot, it's hard to explain in text so I recommend checking the video (link plays from Tomb of the Giants bonfire) - Once you go through the fog gate for Nito, put on the Divine Battle Axe +5 - After dropping in, listen for the scream and try to follow Nito's movements to help time the dodge for the ground-sword-stab-attack-thingy - Kill the three small skeletons with the Divine Battle Axe +5 - Switch to Crystal Halberd - Fight Nito, he's basically a non-threat without the skeletons, all attacks are heavily telegraphed, just make sure you don't go into the other half of the room, otherwise there's 2 (or 3?) big skeletons that will ruin your day and also need to be killed with a Divine weapon to stay dead as far as I know - If he crouches down, either get far away form him or block it with your shield because he's getting ready to do an explosion - If he does the grab attack, it's safer to get to his sides than it is to get away from him, because he reaches out surprisingly far from where he was standing when he begins the telegraph - Kill Nito - Level up Dexterity (we're going for 40 max, after that, do whatever, I prefer Endurance) - Warp to Firelink Shrine

    26. Gwyn - Remember to put on your Hornet Ring if you plan on parrying him to death - Reinforce Halberd as much as you can with remaining Titanite Chunks - Jump into the pit next to Frampt (you'll be fine, a cinematic triggers and you don't take fall damage or anything) - Offer Lord souls to Lordvessel - Run down to Gwyn - Freak out because it's Gwyn and he's horrifying to parry because of his ridiculous quick attack - Parry him to death - Use Well, what is it? - Walk out because you never wanted to link the fire anyway

WHEW, that was a lot, right? Don't worry, I spent a few weeks actively planning this route and that's with learning things from people much more capable than me who do challenge runs.

    Posted: 09 Aug 2021 01:26 AM PDT

Mfw I scurried through the dark hugging the wall, checking my step slowly around Tomb of Giants, find most loot but manage to miss the second bonfire, and arrive at Nito with 1 flask, get buttplugged and die to toxin... now I found out the skull the necromancer drop is actually a lightsource, not a lure skull.

    Gained an Estus???

    Posted: 09 Aug 2021 02:30 AM PDT

Playing ds1 base on 360, just did moveswap of estoc to dragon tooth, and when I walked to the main area of darkroot basin I had an orange mist going into my weapon, no souls added. I look down at my estus and I have 11. I HAVE NOT BEAT PINWHEEL YET!!! Is this a known glitch? I'm fairly new to glitching the game but if it is known then I'd like to exploit the fuck out of it

    Club Club

    Posted: 08 Aug 2021 11:12 AM PDT

I recently decided to get Dark Souls on the switch (many hours logged on pc) and wanted to do a slightly different playthrough. After some ponderance I realised that I had never actually used any of the 'great' weapons, and so bounded off to blight town straight away to grab the great club.

Many hours later and I can't go back, no other ds1 weapon does it for me now in terms of power, move set and, most importantly, fashion souls.

Shout out to Club Club. Fear my tree.

    Attacked NPC by mistake

    Posted: 08 Aug 2021 08:02 PM PDT

So I'm having a blast with the Remastered version and trying out a Faith build which I've never done before. I've just killed Capra demon and was buying some miracles from Petrus.

I alt-tab and come back in with left-click - big mistake. It aggroes Petrus, Rhea and co. and I die. I go to Oswald and request absolution but when I get back to Firelink it seems that the whole group is gone already.

Not sure what to do here. Will I need to restart? I want to complete the Rhea questline later on. It's hard to check if this is broken now since I think the next event is in Tomb of Giants. Anyone with experience on this? Thanks in advance

    Posted: 08 Aug 2021 07:10 PM PDT

Title mostly says it, I've got the black night sword (and great sword too so let me know which is better) I'm just trying to level up a lot and wondering where the best place to do that is? Just beat dark root Bason stuff so I know my next area is blight town, where to farm

After 20+ tries I FINALLY killed Capra Demon and I FINALLY understand why From Soft games are so revered

    Posted: 08 Aug 2021 01:20 PM PDT

Pyromancer, first time playing Dark Souls Remastered (played some Dark Souls 360 but think I maybe killed the first boss)

This fight is supposedly notorious for being one of the most bullshit fights in the entire series because of the small arena and the dogs but I finally beat Capra Demon with the ledge trick, let him keep falling and jump slashed him or drop slashed him or whatever

Kept my cool, stayed patient, picked it apart etc

The real appeal here is the feeling you get when you finally kill a boss especially one that's was clapping your cheeks for 20+ fights. It's like this euphoric high that can't be described.

On an off note, Capra is apparently an optional boss, what was the point in fighting it? I just got a key and a bunch of souls?

I'm playing DSR. New to it. Played DS3 until first boss and figured I should start from the beginning. Trying to play blind but years of bad habit make me look up shit sometimes. I still get surprised here and there a good bit so I'll probably cut down on the guide stuff. So I basically ran through Blighttown (Depths) and only died maybe 2 or 3 times getting to the bonfire where Mildred invades you. Beat the boss killed the npc servant of Fair Lady because he looked like every other enemy but when he started speaking I knew I fucked up. So I looked up where to go and most said SF but the two snakes are too strong. I'm running knight with drake (I know I'm sorry) and claymore+6 sometimes bow and arrow and recently got pyromancy. Thanks in advance.

Dark souls noob UPDATE! Depths and overcoming the initial fear of death.

Soooo yeah I think I finally get this game guys. After the multitude of comments you guys left on my last post, I finally got the mindset I needed to play this game. And it was all thanks to you all. From the bottom of my heart thanks for all the tips, help and the heartfelt reassuring replies you all gave me. I'm touched.

Moving on to how I progressed: After I found Andre, I reinforced my primary weapon Claymore to +5, as many of you suggested. And then took on the bell gargoyles. And wow, it was much much easier. After that I thought the next area to go was probably from where andre was and since the big gate ahead was locked I decided to head to Dark root Gardens and got stuck there. The basin was absolutely terrifying whatthe fuck was the hydra looking thing? I'll know later I guess. Then I knew it probably wasn't a good idea. So I looked at my inventory, found these two keys I had and went to find some unlocked doors again. And after having defeated Capra Demon (killed the dogs first lol) after a good few tries I headed down. I'm currently at the gaping dragon boss and looking forward to defeating it! It's a bit harder than Capra demon but I'm sure I'll get it eventually.

Again thanks so much you guys, if it wasn't for you all I won't be enjoying the game as much with the mindset I had a few days ago. I'll be sure to update you guys later on, hopefully much later in the game!

I did Ornstein and Smough !!!!

    Posted: 08 Aug 2021 10:42 AM PDT

I did it!! After a hefty amount of attempts (14), i finally it. I'm genuinely proud of myself, as someone who sucksssss against bosses with multiple people / a lot of things going on i'm genuinely happy with myself!

That was definitely my hardest boss i've done (INCLUDING Fume Knight from DS2 Sotfs). DS3, DS2 and all DLCs done, i can't wait to finish this and the DLCs. Such an incredible franchise - just wish i found it sooner!

    I'm Buzzing 😂

    How did you find them??

Just beat DS1 for the first time

    Posted: 09 Aug 2021 12:04 AM PDT

I'll start by saying I'm already a huge fan of the souls series, but it actually all started with bloodborne. I loved that game from the moment I started it all the way until the end. Then I thought I might give Dark Souls a chance and decided pick up 3 which had recently released and I didn't like it at first. I ended up putting it down until earlier this year where I ended up finishing the game all the way through and loved it. At that point, I had also started DSR on switch and had a similar feeling towards it, but after beating 3 I thought it was only right to play them all.

So I buckled down and trucked through the game. I'll be honest the first half of the game really felt like a slog for a long time. There were moments that reminded me of why I love these games, but overall I felt like it was a chore and it would be over when I beat the game. But after beating O and S and getting the Lord Vessel, something clicked. Being able to warp made me want to backtrack through the world and find all the secrets I had missed (of which there were a lot) and made me appreciate the design of the world a whole lot more. Now, after having beat all of the bosses including the dlc areas, I can say it's definitely worth the time I put into it. The only game I have left to play is DS2, so we'll have to see how that ranks but for now I'd say it as follows:

    1. Bloodborne
    2. Dark Souls 3
    3. Dark Souls Remastered
    4. Sekiro
    5. Demon's Souls

Did anyone else feel similarly about Dark Souls? I wonder if my opinion would change if I wasn't spoiled by the warping in DS3 and Bloodborne.

I just beat Gwyn for the first time... on my first attempt.

Obviously I parried his attacks thats why it so easy. My soul level was 91. I was wearing silver knight armor set all +5, was using black knight sword +5 and silver knight shield 5+. Lastly, I played the game for 70+ hours. Damn, what a great game, definitely one of my favorites.
