Posted: 17 Feb 2021 04:06 PM PST I invaded someone in the forest, and dropped them an Artorias soul. You know what they did? They picked up the soul, and then backstabbed me while I was trying to Praise the Sun. Why? Why would you do that? I dropped you a soul, I didn't have a sword nor a shield in my hand, so why? Posted: 17 Feb 2021 04:55 AM PST Hey so I just finished my first play through (DLC included) and I absolutely loved everything second of the game. This is by far my favorite video game. I have never have so much fun, frustration and dedication to a video game. I decided to walk away from the flame because as I was playing it broke my heart to see all the other characters go hollow. Every time I met with another character I had a sense of relief for a second, thinking I am not the only one going through this hell. But every time they would lose their mind I thought what is even the purpose of all this? We are just trying to avoid the inevitable, trying to maintain an area that is doomed regardless. When I find out that the remains of Anor Londo was an illusion, I felt betrayed. Every time I tried to spare a life it killed me eventually. Even though we saw what the darkness did to Manus and Artorias can it be worst that letting people die to a quest that is nearly impossible? Can it be worst than lying to people? The great gywn isn't so great after all and maybe he is a little selfish. So yeah fuck the first flame let the dark age begin 😤 [link] [comments] |

Posted: 18 Feb 2021 12:43 AM PST I mean, the first thing is that this teaches the player(who is assumed to be completely new to soulsborne) how important it is to read and look out for animations, because that fire blast AOE can one shot you easily, but its very clear when she's gonna do it if you look at her animations. Secondly, there really is hardly anything annoying or unfair about this boss(with the possible exception of the poison pool outside the arena).Thirdly, its the first boss so far who actually uses the boss arena to her advantage. The only downside to this boss is the fact that she dosent have a cool second phase. Its the ideal light-moderate difficulty boss, and given that the bosses so far in the game have ranged from completely boring(taurus, asylum) to fucking disgraceful(capra), its honestly the best boss so far(gargoyles are up there too but they're way too easy if you have any magic at all) PS: 'arena' in the title refers to blighttown, not the boss arena [link] [comments] |
First time player, beat Ornstein and Smough! Posted: 17 Feb 2021 01:45 PM PST I'm a first time player of the Souls games playing through with as little information as possible. I decided to play them in order starting with Dark Souls Remastered on Pc. I've been playing for at least 50 hours in my playthrough and just beat Ornstein and Smough. It only took me about 10ish tries to beat them. I felt myself getting better after each death. On my last attempt I somehow avoided most damage until after defeating Smough saving my Estus for the boosted Ornstein fight. Have I finally gotten gud? Can't wait to see my next challenge put me to shame. [link] [comments] |
This games RNG is the absolute worst. I swear the game just knows. Posted: 17 Feb 2021 09:53 PM PST So im doing my first sorcerer build. Titanite Catch Pole for melee weapon because i got a lucky drop from the demon by Andre. Things are coming along great. All i need is a good shield. My shield of choice is the Balder shield. Thing is a beast. So im farming Balder knights for 2.5 hours. i farm the 3 Balder knights that dont use the rapier outside of Andres area. So 3 chances per attempt. 10 humanity, dont have gold serpent ring. Im starting to run out of patience and am bout to do something else for a bit. but you know how it goes. "just one more run through of the balder knights. this could be the one". several attempts later, i get the Balder Side Sword. cool. but ive already got my weapon, dont need the BSS. couple attempts later im starting to get annoyed. Just give me the damn shield! Next attempt first knight i kill, another BSS. Great, another rare sword im not gonna use. second knight, nothing. Third knight, Another fucking BSS! I want to scream. In the span of 15 minutes, i got 3 damn Balder Side Swords when all i wanted was the shield! Its even more annoying because ive done a Balder Side Sword playthrough and it was an absolute blast. But im sticking with my catch pole as a melee weapon. i love me a good halberd. I did eventually end up getting the damn shield about a half hour later. But damn, Dark Souls RNG is a cruel mistress. So in my first playthrough, stuck on Gaping Dragon. Any tips? Posted: 17 Feb 2021 11:28 PM PST Got to this point pretty easily ngl. I'm just confused because if I get hit once I'm dead. Seems a little too unfair even for a souls boss. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 18 Feb 2021 03:10 AM PST Hey guys, I'm doing all achievements run in ds1 and I'm not sure if i need This one, heard that the only way to get it is by bugging the game or so, so do i need it for the achievement? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 17 Feb 2021 09:03 PM PST Today I was going through some of my first playthrough footage and I realized I got some insane drops. I had gotten the Short Bow from the first bow dude in Asylum, the Hollow Soldier Shield from the first soldier in Asylum and a Humanity from the bridge rat. All in the first kill. Pretty insane [link] [comments] |
Posted: 17 Feb 2021 10:19 PM PST I'm readying myself to go up against Manus on NG+ and now that I have a titanite slab I haven't used yet I'm wondering which I should use it on. I have Sunlight Blade and gold pine resin for when that runs out. Should I make a +15 Halberd or a +5 Lightning Halberd? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 17 Feb 2021 08:55 PM PST I had just started a new playthrough of PTDE, but my buddy wanted to play with me so convinced me to upgrade to remastered. Ive heard the anticheat bans people for simple reshade mods, is that true? Additionally, I admit that I was hoping to just cheat engine back to where my PTDE character was (just past gargoyles), figure ill get banned if I try that? [link] [comments] |
Victory Achieved- I won the All Boss (Minus Priscilla) Race Posted: 17 Feb 2021 11:05 PM PST I am absolutely floored. Thank you all for helping me in this race. I had a lot of doubts, but when it came down to race time, I was a beast. I couldn't have done it without you all. Sincere thanks from a random guy on the internet. Final time- 6:02:47 [link] [comments] |
[Lore Question] Is it actually confirmed lore that Gwynevere is an illusion? Posted: 17 Feb 2021 07:09 PM PST Okay so this is common knowledge to most the fanbase, but looking deeper afterwards lead me to realize the ONLY piece of evidence is the ring you are given, which says she moved away and got married. The "illusion" still stays and talks to you after killing Gwyndolin. A lot of silver knights still remain in anor londo when the "illusion" is lifted. Gwyndolin says "thou hast offended godmother's image" couldn't this also mean like, you injured her before she beamed away? Scratched her skin? It does make sense if he's talking about you trying to hurt literal image/illusion of Gwynevere though, tbh. Goes both ways A single facebook comment yelling at me that "shes totally there and real! Quit trying to explain away plotholes! She even gives you a ring, an illusion couldnt!" just has me looking deeper for answers now. Was there a mistranslation for the ring?(as has happened through the series) Or does this dude have me second guessing for nothing? Is she just a force projection from herself from home with flann or truly, the commonly accepted answer that she's gwyndolin's illusion? (while the real one is living happily elsewhere) [link] [comments] |
Posted: 17 Feb 2021 10:42 PM PST I just had a guy who helped me beat, Manus, Four kings and Kalameet. I had struggled with all the bosses for awhile and this glorious sun bro helped me out. I felt I must share his generosity with the world so that some of you may find joy like I did tonight. [link] [comments] |
I just started playing Dark Souls for the first time Posted: 17 Feb 2021 01:55 PM PST Wow, what a great and frustrating game. I'm thrilled I took advantage of the 50% discount on the PlayStation store. I would like to go through my experience as a new player of the game. Hopefully those who read this will enjoy that. I have only completed ringing the two bells so I am by no means close to done, but regardless I felt compelled to post. This is a long one, my apologies for that. For background, I was fortunate to grow up with both Nintendo and PlayStation consoles, but I was always drawn to the games that Nintendo made more than Sony. Due to this, I excel at 2D and 3D platformers...but that's where my talent in games virtually ends. While I'm able I to fully complete Hollow Knight's white palace with ease, I'll still struggle playing Uncharted on normal difficulty. I still enjoy the franchise and complete the main campaigns, but that doesn't mean I'm good at them as it takes SEVERAL tries for me to beat simple locations. Uncharted is just one of many franchises I have this relationship with, so as you can imagine hearing about Dark Souls' difficulty did not make me interested to try it out in the slightest. However as the years went by, Dark Souls kept getting harder to ignore. The franchise has blown up since its initial release in 2011 (I do know it's not the first in the franchise, I just heard about this game before Demon Souls). And since I'm in my house most of the day due to the pandemic, I figured it would be the best time to try this game out and give it a chance. I'm now in my twenties and naturally have gotten better at video games despite still having my sub-par moments in non-platforming games, but I was hopeful that DSR's difficulty was more of a meme than a reality, but as the game finishes downloading and I began playing, I realized quickly the screams of difficulty will ring true for me as well. I'm not the the most observant player, so most people will cringe reading that I completely missed the Scimitar(I chose Wanderer) and used the broken hilt sword far longer than I should have. I only beat the asylum demon after I realized my mistake when I backtracked. Fortunately, missing the scimitar forced me to get better at backstabbing and parrying early on in the game, blessing in disguise I guess. I finished the Asylum after 90-120 minutes of game time. After getting handled by some skeleton enemies I make the decision due take a right passed the bonfire to undead parish I believe (forgive me if I get some of the location names wrong or swapped). It was an enjoyable section that eventually led to the Taurus Demon, I was disappointed by the fight as after I realized all you had to do was plunge to kill him, it became kind of boring as there was nothing the demon could do from what I experienced. The journey to the boss was much harder than the boss itself. After many deaths, I eventually find my way to a bonfire above a blacksmith. While upgrading weapons was a given in a game like this, I was still relieved when I realized I could make things a little easier. Predictably the next major section I completed was defeating the bell gargoyles and ringing the first bell, but before that I took an elevator that unknowingly brought me to the fire link shrine. This is when I realized how brilliant the world was, the way it's interconnected is brilliant. I had a similar feeling when I eventually took an elevator from Londo to the firelink after blighttown, but I'm getting ahead of myself. While I had a hell of time with some sections prior, bell gargoyles was the first boss that gave me a hard time (although Asylum demon with the broken hilt at first wasn't easy either). The boss was easy enough until a second one joined the arena, and that's when I got flustered. 5-6 attempts later I finally see that "Victory Achieved" text I've been waiting for. This was about 6.5 hours in. I'm forgetting how exactly I got there, I believe below where the Taurus Demon fight was, but I eventually got to a new location with these aggressive dogs, easy enough enemies...at first. After a few deaths I enter this fog gate only to die immediately...what the hell, I didn't even see what killed me, I only saw a red health bar indicating I was in a boss arena. My second time entering the fog gate I roll to the right immediately to see that I'm fighting the Capra demon and his violent pets. This boss fight has been my least favorite section of the game so far, and ironically enough it was never about the Capra demon but rather the dogs and that closet sized boss arena. I died a countless number of times trying to get to those stairs only being blocked by those dogs no matter how much rolling I did. This wasn't fun at all and I didn't feel any sense of accomplishment after I defeated Capra, I just moved on. I eventually made it to the depths which I found to be pretty enjoyable, however getting cursed not knowing what it did at first...not as much fun. Had to halt my adventure for a bit to cure myself by buying a treatment item for it (I'm forgetting the name of it). I buy a few more for insurance and go back down to the depths to the gaping dragon. This boss was a pleasant surprise as I was able to beat him on my second attempt, a much needed change after Capra. Then I finally entered the infamous blighttown which I heard so many things about before even playing the game, and honestly it was my favorite section of the game so far. I loved the look of it, and the narrow platforms always put me on my toes. After quite a few deaths I make it to Quelaag who wasn't too bad actually, I was able to beat her on my third attempt and ring the second bell. I'm not about 15 hours in. And that's where I'm at right now, I'm so happy and relieved I'm enjoying this game despite it not being my genre of choice. Glad to be part of the community. [link] [comments] |

Belated love for the Zweihander Posted: 17 Feb 2021 11:10 AM PST Almost done with my first NG+ run and I have to confess: I had not really had much love for the Zweihander or any other ultra greatsword because of its slowness and stamina drain. I upgraded it to +14 in my first run because it had so much fanfare on the forums but still, wasn't to my liking. Until I fought Artorias and Manus again. They were shredding me with my boss weapon of choice, the Claymore, and it was particularly annoying that the Claymore would miss so often against Artorias. So I decided to give the Zwei a go, a bit worried that its slow swing would leave me vulnerable. NOT. SO. The Zwei is awesome against these two bosses. It's long enough to usually hit Artorias when you have an opening and he usually doesn't follow up attacks quickly enough that you'll get hit because of the slow swing (caveat: this implies you know when to NOT hit Artorias). The best part is it staggers him during his buff so any further hits from him will not two-shot you. After some practice the fight became trivial. As for Manus, his hitboxes are surprisingly generous and you can almost always nail him after a roll. He has a ton of HP on NG+ but the Zwei manages to get him for 300-400 damage with each swing. Most of Manus' attacks when you're at some distance from him don't have an immediate follow up which makes it very safe to use. The best part of the Zwei against these two bosses is the rolling thrust, that not only has tremendous range but is surprisingly quick for an ultra greatsword; so much I don't think it's that much slower than a Claymore thrust. This is probably the great advantage it has during boss fights. In the normal levels you aren't rolling that much and thus are relying on its slow, heavy, stamina-draining swing that doesn't really have a huge damage advantage relative to, say, the Claymore. But in boss fights, when you're rolling all the time, that rolling poke is brutal. Anyway, just wanted to write this and hopefully anyone who is struggling against these two will have an option. I have read a few threads where a lot of players don't recommend using heavy weapons against them, but after my experience with the Zwei I definitely think it's possibly the best weapon in these two fights. Just finished my first playthrough and wow am I impressed. Just one question Posted: 17 Feb 2021 08:50 PM PST I put off playing this game because of all the rage I've seen about it, but wow did this game blow my mind. I got frustrated of course, (especially in blighttown holy crap) but it was an amazing ride nonetheless. Thank you to those of you who helped me along the way. I only have one question. Is it just me or was gwyn underwhelming in difficulty? I was using level 15 regular claymore for comparison. [link] [comments] |
