I LOVE the ruin sentinels fight

    Posted: 21 Jan 2021 07:35 AM PST

The Ruin Sentinels boss boss fight is something I was torn on for a long time, but I've recently come around to decide it's one of my all-time favorites.

    You start with a single sentinel on the balcony when you enter the boss room. They're so tall, it's easy to identify what swing is coming. And once you've slain the first one, the other two start approaching, at which point you've got a choice to make;

Fight both of them up on the balcony, which is exceptionally difficult, or jump down and take 1/3 health loss. Either way, it's an awesome fight that I've come to appreciate.

Shout-out to the Ruin Sentinels, the tall madmen of DS2.

As A New Player From DS3 And Bloodborne

    Posted: 21 Jan 2021 12:13 PM PST

This is exactly the challenge I was looking for. The slower pace really messed me up at first. I kept trying to focus on maximum damage and evasion, but I found that wasn't working for me, especially now that I'm at The Iron Keep. Trying to run a Dex/Pyro wasn't working out for me anymore, and after now switching to a more quality focused sword and board style, I'm enjoying the game far more. In DS3 I never ran a shield, regardless of my build, and in Bloodborne, well, guns, so this is a huge change of pace for me. At first I was concerned about the difficulty spike and the health effects of hollowing, but I feel like this game is bringing me closer to the roots in the tactics and pacing of the Souls series. I feel more accomplished when I clear an area, and defeat a boss after several attempts. After this play through I'll likely build a new character and commit to the dex/pyro idea, but for now I'm going to take my time, and get lost in the lore of this new and exciting world. Up for input, and advice. It feels like I'm playing a game completely different from DS3 and BB, and honestly, I wish I had started with this. Looking forward to going to OG Dark Souls next.

Will I be able to trade boss souls soon?

    Posted: 21 Jan 2021 12:15 PM PST

I started dark souls 2 because I heard it has cool weapons and armors and builds. Currently I have a bunch of boring swords and axes, but I just got the soul of the last giant (went to the forest ASAP) and I was wondering how much longer before I can unlock the blacksmith/merchant that would allow me to use the souls.

Dark souls 1 required me to get to anar londo first which was kinda shit, but there weren't many boss souls before that point so it wasn't too bad. I really liked dark souls 3 and how you could use the boss souls after the 2nd boss (3rd counting the tutorial boss).

What's the best armor in the game ?

    Posted: 21 Jan 2021 02:04 PM PST

K bois, so what is the best armor in the game in your opinion, make your decisions based on effectiveness in combat and looks as well, mixing multiple peaces of different armors is ok as well, and I'll prefer if you choose a closed helmet so I don't see my ugly face but opened ones are ok as well

    Is this the end already?

    Posted: 21 Jan 2021 12:41 PM PST

Hi there! I have just acquired the ashen mist heart from the big dragon. I know there is a long stone way from drangleic castle gate bonfire down to a fog gate, does this mean I have reached the final boss already?

Normally I would look it up in the wiki, but I dont even know the endbosses name - and I wanna keep it this way... I love pöaying the souls games blind, its so fun, so I dont even wanna know boss names...

So could someone just tell me wether this fog gate leads to the endboss or not? Simples yes/no would be enough! I just need to know because I have/want to play the dlcs before I enter the final fight

This is my opinion, feel free to give yours

    Posted: 21 Jan 2021 02:13 AM PST

Ds2 is the best of the 3, I love the slow methodical gameplay, the amount of builds and challenges you can do, and I'm here about builds

Firstly the armour, it was difficult, I wanted def and style, so I picked this

    1) forlorn hood (SOTFS only otherwise it's hexers hood or black leather hood) 2) adygle (damn forgot how to spell his name, the guy that sells warmth in undead crypt) armour 3) forlorn gauntlets 4) Faraam boots

This gave enough poise to be able to trade with light weapons (minus a certain ring) and push through

    Now the weapons

    Right:

    1) red rust scimitar 2) black knight ultra great sword (back up for certain enemies and in the event of running out of repair powder)

    Left:

    1) pyro flame w/ chaos fire ball, flame snake, chaos storm, fireball, warmth and if spare, toxic mist 2) magic shield (best parry shield IMO, less frames than buckler by 1 or 2 but longest spell parry frames)

These fit the style best and are very powerful in general sometimes you want to remove the big sword and swap it around for further rolls but I've got it set to the distance I like best with this

Now the vital part of any build, rings

    1) third dragon (ofcourse, extra stamina, hp and equip load? Yes please) 2) life ring +3 3) ring of blades (extra damage duh) 4) the most OP ring for any light build that even works for heavy weapons vs vaarg with the 3 man gank boss, stone ring

Let's talk about this beast of a ring, it's great, it's saved me time and time again of any rings I've used, I passed it off for so long, this ring is why I'm here, but wanted to see what yall thought of my equipment set up too

My 25 poise red rust, in 3 hits stagger the ice back dudes in the snow zone, 2 with 2 hands, not bad, stone ring needs 2 or 1 with 2 hands, pvp, well, in one hand, I've staggered people with 70 poise unless they're attacking, with 100 I need 2 hands unless they're attacking, this is a pvp murder ring, now this is why the big sword and small amount of poise comes in, plenty of people abuse quick weapons on light builds with a ton of poise, well, black knight ultra great sword+stone ring=trade a hit and break poise with 2 hands all day

Now to abuse this ring, imagine a guy, wanting to be OP for the sake of being OP, fair enough we all done that, now give them red rust or the ultra great sword and stone ring, and giants ring (the only counter for stone ring which is also a counter for giants ring) you would have to parry that beast or rely on spells the entire battle while they can just walk up to you and dodge before unleashing Armageddon upon you

TLDR: 1) what you think of the set up? 2) stone ring is the best

    [Build] Rapier PvE Build help?

    Posted: 21 Jan 2021 07:18 AM PST

    Hi!

So basically, I'm looking to do a playthrough of Dark Souls II with a rapier build (cheapskate, I know) and I was wondering if you guys could help me set one up.

I'm aware there are multiple builds online already but they're already very dated like three-four years old so I want to make sure I'm not investing anything into outdated equipment and stats.

If possible, I was wondering if you could share a 'list' of what items are a /must/ for this build and to provide me with the arrangement of stats, where to invest in and how many levels each should have, which I should invest in first, adaptability level, starting class, etc.

I hope it's not a lot to ask, but when it comes to builds and point investment I'm kinda clumsy. Hopefully some of you can all provide me with a good rapier build to get through the game with ease.

    Posted: 21 Jan 2021 06:04 AM PST

I have all trophies except for the hex, sorcery, miracle and pyromancy trophies and my question is since I always play melee, do you have to have to stats to execute them or do you just need to have them all in your inventory to get the trophy?

    No love for Ricard's Rapier?

    Posted: 20 Jan 2021 05:08 PM PST

Most of the "Rapier OP" posts I've seen talk about basic rapier and eventual upgrade to espada for maximum carnage in PVE. I get that the espada is a straight upgrade in damage and has more durability than the regular rapier, but why do most people not include Ricard's in the same discussion?

I get the R2 is gimmicky but its damage passes the basic rapier at 40 dex, it has the same durability, and for pure R1 spam DPS should outdamage the basic rapier. Assuming soulsplanner is correct, ricards also begins to outdamage espada at 60 dex (without any significant strength investment) and has the maximum physical damage of the three at 99str/99dex if you don't care about over-leveling. According to the wiki, all of these also have the same 140 counter damage.

Am I missing something else that is holding ricards back from the rest of the pack?

Is Northern Ritual Band worth it?

    Posted: 21 Jan 2021 01:16 AM PST

First play through of SotFS as a sorc build. Squishy af so thought I'd use the band and get more ranged attacks and sacrifice what little HP I have. But from what I can tell I'm gaining like 1 - 3 casts (depending on the spell) and losing around 60ish HP?

Any tips appreciated. Playing a ranged character for the first time really makes it a totally different game!
