    OMG

    Posted: 17 Mar 2020 01:41 PM PDT

So I'm 12 and my dad has played all the souls games including bloodbourne too. I mostly play pvp games like overwatch and rainbow. My dad lives in another city and I get to see him once a month. Over winter break he introduced me to dark souls and over the week I was with him we played dark souls every night till 2 in the morning, me on my first time and him on his second. It became something we bonded over and whenever I get to see him we always play. I just finally beat the game 110 hours later. I can't wait to play dark souls 2.

After the Anor Londo archers, there's a little drop onto a balcony to get inside. That little drop just killed me.

    I did it

    Posted: 17 Mar 2020 07:20 PM PDT

I've now platinumed all modern FromSoftware games. That's Demon's Souls, Dark Souls, Dark Souls 2, Dark Souls 3, Bloodborne, Sekiro. Although it doesn't technically count, should I go after Nioh now? Souls like game but not FromSoft. Also, is there somewhere I can show off my achievements? Ps4

Starting the first work-from-home day right

Since I've started to spend more time at home recently, I've decided to put more time into this beautiful game whenever I can, meaning before and after work...

Dark Souls has strangely always possessed the power to comfort me and keep me going when times are at their worst.

I hope my fellow chosen undead are able to receive a similar comfort.

Be safe friend, don't you dare go hollow

I drew this a few days ago and didn't even think to post it here till now. This was a 60 minute sketch. I've been challenging myself to do one sketch a day and I love Dark Souls. So you may see more stuff posted from time to time!

    Is backstepping useless?

    Posted: 18 Mar 2020 12:29 AM PDT

I don't play PVP so I don't know about that but I always find myself rolling backwards instead of backstepping. Is it just me or does everyone do this? I played all 3 Dark Souls games and never in my life have I found myself backstepping to dodge an attack.

Enticing Enemies for Faster Soft Humanity Gains in Lower Undead Burg

    Posted: 17 Mar 2020 04:03 PM PDT

I love finding out new things about this game.

I knew about the bonus soft humanity in certain areas*, but I didn't know that you could drag enemies from cleared areas into uncleared areas and have them count towards the humanity meter.

I am farming for the 10 soft humanity in Lower Undead Burg. Running from the Upper Undead Burg bonfire to the Lower Undead Burg aggros some hollow soldiers to follow me. If I kill them in the Upper Undead Burg they don't count for anything. If I kill them in the Lower Undead Burg they count towards its soft humanity meter.

I admit this is pretty minor, but Lower Undead Burg has few, low-value enemies (2 and 3 points) so it takes a while to get the counter to even 105. It's actually faster to entice the soldiers down (they are 3 and 6 points each), kill them and return than it is to clear the area.

*In certain areas, and as long as the boss is still alive, you can gain up to 10 soft humanity killing enemies, with each kill adding to an invisible humanity meter. When the meter gets to a limit it resets and gives you a free humanity.

    Just stumbled upon Ash Lake!

    Posted: 17 Mar 2020 03:17 PM PDT

So, I was trying to find my way to Quelaag when I found a very obvious fake wall, so, I hit it and find a chest. I couldn't quite see if it had a mimic chain or not so I hit it and revealed the way the great Hollow! I thought the Hollow was a lot of fun. Until I got cursed which luckily I had a purging stone from the depths (which FUCKED me). I got past the cute mushroom guys and then walked down onto a whole new world. Ash lake was the most mysterious place ever, the music was elevating and I felt like nobody had ever been there before. The trees were so cool in the distance, I like to think one of them leads to the place from Dark Souls 2. I had no idea somewhere like this existed, although I browse this sub Reddit often it had never came up and boy am I glad. One of my favorite experiences in any game, I dodged a few blasts from the hydra and awakened the bonfire so I can teleport there later.

    Quelana spawned without meeting requirements?

    Posted: 17 Mar 2020 10:33 PM PDT

Title. I'm currently lost in the swamps and I ran into Quelana. I read up on her on the wiki and the thing is, I've never even touched Pyromancy after getting the first Pyromancy Flame from the guy you rescue in the Depths, and I've never summoned anyone in Blighttown either?

Am i overleveled or bleed is op or im just got better?

    Posted: 18 Mar 2020 01:21 AM PDT

So i just defeated ornstein and smough for the first time which to a lot of people considered a very hard boss, this is not my first souls game i played ds3. It only took like 2 tries for me to defeat them and i only died the first time because i didn't expect the boss. I'm using uchigatana+10 and it dealt HUGE damage to smough (i decided to target him first) and the damage even bigger when it fully built the bleeding effect, the damage was reasonable after i killed smough and ornstein got bigger. Im level 61 with 38 dexterity. In fact other than the bell gargoyles which took me about 4 tries, most of the bosses i fought so far including Sif only took me 1-2 tries. Am i too overleveled? i really don't want to make the game easier than it should be

    Most multiplayer activity

    Posted: 18 Mar 2020 01:09 AM PDT

Hi guys, I wonder which game/platform/edition is the most active, pvp/coop related.

    - I own ds ptde, ds remastered for pc and xonex (x360 emulated) and switch (remastered) .. but I notice that only (little) multi activity is on original ds for pc.

Is there some stats online to see where multi is ?

I miss so much offering my sword to kill bosses (and of course invading).

2nd Time Claiming "The Dark Soul Achievement"

    Posted: 18 Mar 2020 12:49 AM PDT

The first time I completed a 100% run in Dark Souls 1 was 6 years ago in February 2014. I've played the game fairly regularly, at least once per year, since then, and on several platforms. I finally got around to buying Dark Souls:Remastered last month on XBox One and figured I go ahead and, instead of speeding through it, really take my time and appreciate the little things like I did on my first playthrough since it's on an updated platform. I collected all the weapons, outfits, miracles, pyromancies, and sorceries. I fulfilled every storyline. I whooped every boss and played through AotA.

When I finished off all the achievements the first time, it took me three and a half playthroughs (because I was an idiot and missed a miracle), 156 levels, and over 90 hours of gameplay.

6 years later, though, it only took 2.5 playthroughs, 123 levels, and 43 hours, and that was playing pretty casually.

If you haven't done it recently, I recommend doing a slow run of the game again. It's definitely given me a renewed appreciation of all the little details I usually sprint passed.

    I love this game.

    Faith is extremely OP

    Posted: 18 Mar 2020 12:12 AM PDT

I swear faith builds are broken in this game, I 3 shot Ornstein with the worth of gods, suns first born bring and the crown of dusk, never though faith could be this good, definitely recommend doing it

About to go Hollow.. Need some advice for the Darkroot Basin Hydra..

    Posted: 17 Mar 2020 07:03 PM PDT

Edit: just beat it! Thanks for the help you guys!

Just want to say FUCK this Hydra and the crystal golem fuckers in this area..

Now that I vented let me explain my situation.

This is my 2nd Souls game, and Dark Souls 3 was my first. I've been playing it for several months now and logged around 500+ hours since November last year, so I'm familiar with combat (although DS3 is a little faster than DS1 from what I can tell).

I've been enjoying the game so far. Killed Havel by sprinting around and backstabbing him to death, reaches my first Bell, but oh my God I haven't had so much trouble before.. I can barely get close enough to the fucking Hydra because of the nonstop water spitting attack. Most of the time I get hit, and by the time I get back up one of the crystal dudes is standing over me ready to shove his arm up my Undead ass.

I'm trying my best to dodge the projectiles (even fast rolling thanks to Havel ring), but it seems like I'm still getting hit during what should be i-frames. Half of the time I get to the edge of the water the Hydra just keeps spitting water at me until I get rectally ravaged by the golem things in the area.

What am I doing wrong and what advice can you guys give to help a newcomer to DS1?

Thanks for any help in advance!

Cheating host left... rubbish? In my world? How?

    Posted: 17 Mar 2020 02:49 PM PDT

Was playing around in township, invading on my char (~sl100 atm). Invaded this guy, and while I was bowing he walked up to me and then started casting lightning spear. Except he was casting them at about a rate of 3 casts per second, and the bolt wasn't actually firing (just the cast animation), and I was getting auto-hit. When I only had a sliver of health left, he warped to me and hit me. He then proceeded to run away about x5 as fast as a player can run, while I was dying.

Note that this all took place in a span of about 4 seconds, so it wasn't just delayed reaction due to lag. When I got back to my own world, there was an item next to my bonfire. A single piece of rubbish.

    Great job, Fromsoft.

Is the Target Shield easy mode against enemies you can parry?

    Posted: 17 Mar 2020 06:16 PM PDT

You get it starting with the thief class and it made parrying so easy. Just whooped Gwyn using it and didn't miss a parry, even on attacks I usually struggled with.
