To the Sunbro who helped me kill the Ruin Sentinels but died right before the final blow, Posted: 21 Mar 2020 07:44 AM PDT Thanks dude, that was a tough fight even with the NPC summons. Praise the Sun. [link] [comments] |
Are any of Galvan’s wares good? Posted: 21 Mar 2020 08:19 AM PDT Is poison good in this game and should I buy the poison resin/arrows? Are there many poison enemies and should I prepare the moss? How much impact does the giants ring add? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 21 Mar 2020 12:29 PM PDT A few months ago I posted a table containing the spell motion values for Dark Souls 2: https://www.reddit.com/r/DarkSouls2/comments/el2t0m/dark_souls_2_spell_motion_values_a_mostly/ And here is the spreadsheet containing all the new data I have collected: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1-eUYlB9C_jrSAr2eQA8eoRJdaO7zahTghs57Kl6_nio/ This has the following: a general explanation of the data, all weapon motion values, all powerstance motion values, all critical attack motion values, details on buff values and formulas, and I put the spell motion values in there too because why not. Use the tabs at the bottom to navigate the spreadsheet. The reason I wanted this data was so that there could be a more definite comparison between any two attacks (e.g. how much stronger is Great Combustion than regular combustion, or how much stronger is a strong attack than a light attack). The same applies for buffs, but the buff formulas proved much harder to figure out than motion values since there are so many more factors involved. If you're not very number-oriented or have trouble reading spreadsheets, just know that bigger numbers -> stronger attacks. And of course, bigger numbers will not make you win the game if you can't utilize them properly. Hopefully this data proves interesting to someone. It's not terribly useful and I mostly just did it for fun and out of curiosity. It's possible that I missed something or made small errors somewhere, but I think I've double checked most of it at this point. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 20 Mar 2020 04:15 PM PDT I absolutely hate the all the dlc so much, like I get that the dlcs are most people's favourite areas in the game but idk I just find them so goddamn annoying and really emphasise the negatives I have with ds2 which is annoying cause I really do think the main game(sotfs version) is a really good fun game with only small parts of annoyance.with the dlc every area has to have some annoying ass gimmick and 20 enemies that all gank you at once and annoying enemies and it all just makes me so frustrated in a way the main game doesn't. Now with the bosses I'm in a mixed bag because on one hand fume knight, sir allone and the ivory king who are all great boss fights that are real challenging but fun and on the other hand you have aava, elana and Singh who I found so boring and frustrating to fight because of poor mechanics that I dread going back to the dlc for them. I sometimes wish I could go back to my first fight with the Fume Knight Posted: 21 Mar 2020 09:46 AM PDT He was hell and I hated his guts. It took me 3 or 4 days (8 hours?) to finally defeat him, but man was it satisfying. He was like a rival and personal grudge for me. I ended up stripping off all my armor (except Velstadt's helm) since he was 2 and 3 shotting me regardless of what I wore. So infuriating, but so fun [link] [comments] |
Posted: 20 Mar 2020 08:38 PM PDT This post is dedicated to this invader named Bitey (who had host's color) who came into my world about one hour ago. You came in and waved to us. You never did any harm. And yet we attacked you. Greeted you with a rain of arrows. And then finally one of my friends beat you to death. I arrived just in time to see him killing you. It was then that I saw you left gifts. I couldn't take it, I cried for we were too cruel. You left me a Elizabeth's Mushroom, human effigies, 100 fire arrows... And a Black Dragon Sword PLUS FUCKING SEVEN. NO FAIR HACKER. We did what was just. It was hard but correct. But I still feel the kindness in you and regret our cruelty. Goodbye Bitey, RIP. To twinblade or not to twibblade Posted: 21 Mar 2020 06:17 AM PDT Someone please help me with this dilemma. I want to know if it would be worth the upgrade materials to mess with the dragonrider twinblade. I am playing dex/int (30/40 currently although both will go up) and plan on infusing it either with magic or poison. Either one will give it decent int scaling. Here are the turn ons: - It looks dope - I've never used a twinblade and am terribly curious about them - darth maul....darth souls hahaha - did I mention it looks cool Here are the turn offs: - the damage seems flatout low - scaling could be better - ive heard powerstancing them doesn't go well So here's my concern. I really want to try out this weapon but I'm scared that I'm gonna be underwhelmed by it based on my research and hearsay. Also based on the fact that my last playthrough with high int involved dark infused crypt blacksword as well as SCH, so that level of AR is something ive become accustomed to in this game. I also am currently running +10 rapiers powerstancing them, would the dragonrider twinblade be a step down? One question regarding this twinblade, which will make or break my desire to use it...and be honest, guys.. How is the dps? Seriously, its a twinblade, and they have low damage, so do they have good dps? If so I'll give it a shot. [link] [comments] |

Today is the day I say goodbye to Dark Souls 2 Posted: 21 Mar 2020 01:16 PM PDT When I started my DS2 journey I was a little underwhelmed. Combat felt awkward, the bosses seemed pretty boring, and the areas alternated between full on bullshit and just sort of dull. I continued to press on because I wanted to play 3, and wouldn't feel right skipping 2. As I reached the Shaded Wood and Drangleic Castle I was starting to enjoy myself. I had decent gear, my character was starting to come together, and these new areas were pretty cool. I also started find more populated areas that I could Sunbro in which gave me some much needed respite from the long slog through this game. Finally I made it through to the very end game just the final bosses left out of the base game, and then I hit the DLC. I decided to start with Brume Tower, which is probably the best level design I've experienced in DS2. I cleared out the whole tower and then it was time for some boss fights. The Fume Knight took me nearly 30 tries due to consistently doing 3/4 of my health with his aoe burst and my not having a good grasp of the range on his slow flaming sword sweep. But with the help of a duel greatsword Sunbro I finally got him. Sir Alonne was far easier, only taking 4 or 5 tries on my own, but still orders of magnitude more fun than any other boss I had faced so far. And then it was time for the Iron Passage. So far I have reached the blue smelter demon once, and he two shot me through my shield with his buffed sword. All my other attempts have been ended by the constant barrage of magic, grouped up enemies attacking through each other in tight quarters, and the bullshit gates that seem more like trap designed to kill you than an alternative passage. At this point I've exhausted my supply of effigies and the prospect of turning back to farm for more seems not worth it. So many of the enemies that drop them have already despawned from my original attempts to get through the area, and after I've farmed up enough to beat this boss I have two more DLCs that are presumably on the same level of difficulty. No I think it's time I let it go and say that DS2 isn't for me. I'd like to apologize to my character who will forever be stuck at the iron passage bonfire, unable to take the throne or free his soul or whatever beating the game gets him. And congratulations dark souls 2 design team, you've made a hollow out of me. [link] [comments] |

Dying nerd Trying No Bonfire/No Death Run— SOTFS. Posted: 20 Mar 2020 11:43 PM PDT So! A bit of backstory. I'm a disabled nerd who is probably dying sometime in the next 18 months due to unexplainable health issues if we don't figure out what's wrong with me. Which we probably won't, due to excessive health issues. So! To fill my abundant disabled and unemployed free-time during the covid-19 quarantine, I've decided I am going to try my hand at a no bonfire/no death ds2 run. Going for dual illusory rings on a single playthrough. I just ended my 6th and best attempt so far. Bosses defeated: Last giant, pursuer, dragonrider, flexile sentry, last sinner, the rotten, Scorpioness najka, prowling magus, duke's dear Freya, skeleton lords, covetous demon, mytha the baneful Queen. And then I accidentally rolled off the bridge that the Turtle Knight breaks with a hammer, on my way to fight the old iron king. Alas. Time of death: 2 hours and 45 minutes into the run. I shall be retiring character "G" and will be beginning a playthrough on "H" tomorrow. Ask me anything. [link] [comments] |
Not very good player can’t fight Ruin sentinels with magic because reasons Posted: 21 Mar 2020 11:23 AM PDT This is my first time playing an intelligence build and I just can't seem to beat the Ruin Sentinels. The mage NPC always dies and I can't protect them, forcing me to take on the other two along and I just keep getting destroyed by their long attacks. Is their any tips or spells I should know about or just git gud until I win? [link] [comments] |
Help with Gank Squad and Frigid Outskirts? (PS4 SotFS) Posted: 21 Mar 2020 11:18 AM PDT I could use a break from farming Loyce Souls, and the completionist in me can't leave these things well enough alone I'm at SL150, 3.1M SM I've never made one of these posts before so I'm not sure if I should put stuff like PSN name here or to save that for a DM once someone says the can help lol [link] [comments] |

No NPC summon signs for lost sinner. LIVID Posted: 21 Mar 2020 09:14 AM PDT I'm so angry right now. There is no summon sign for Lucatiel at the bottom of the elevator. I am human, I haven't put my summon sign down, and I do not have the name engraved ring on WHAT THE FUCK This is actually a huge pain in the ass cause I'm not playing sofs which means now, because of what I can ONLY deduce is incontrovertibly some kind of bug in the game, I have to go fight the fucking belfry gargoyles in order to get the Bastille key...instead of just summoning lucatiel and fighting sinner without lock-on as was my perfecting logical and theoretically viable plan. Which I now have to abandon for perfectly illogical reasons. I need to take a break from this game it's pissing me off too much [link] [comments] |

Just got a new idea wich can be a lot cool Posted: 21 Mar 2020 12:15 AM PDT I want to make a plague doctor poison based build here's the equipment: Right hand scalpel (you can use mitha's bent blade or a bantit knife with poison infusion) You can use the pilgrim's sopntoon for the staff which the plague doctor used to make himself recognize (even the helix halberd would do the trick In the left hand you will put any kind of poison spreading catalists so you can use a black witch staff for the cool design and a piromancy/dark piromancy hand in the second Attune toxic mist and dark fog if you have enough slots equip even poison mist Then wear a dark mask (the beak one) Black dress/glove/thigts for the fashion souls Begin the fight by casting poison 3 poison mists followed by a poisoned knife trowing if the patient is poisoned, attack him with the halberd and punish any kind of healing because the only cure is you if the host heals from poison, use toxic mist and dark fog ( you can even use them in the beginning Level up the stats who amplify your poison bonus and have fun Is there a way to optimise this build? Edit: i forgot about the rings! So put a steel protection ring and a cloranty ring, you can use a stone ring for stunlock your opponent wit the dagger of your choice or wear dispelling ring and ring of resistance or you can wear only one of them and use one of the dragon rings instead [link] [comments] |
